Sadly, what was forgotten amid the Bush-era hubris was that America's edge always has been as much moral and economic as military.
If you guys want to know what i really and truly believe about wtf is happening right now, this guy said it much better than i ever could.
you can't use the word 'moral' in america today without somebody starting to talk about jesus or allah or beelzebub, etc....and it means so much more than that. It's about who you are as a people. Are we the kind of people to do or allow what has been done? hell no!!! we are good people, we work hard, we pay our bills, we help out when we can, and we try not to harm anyone and we are more creative than the rest of the world combined. Everybody in the world knew this about americans too. and they respected it for the most part.
I don't believe the rest of the world would be so pissed about the 'immoral' actions of a few madmen so much if it weren't for our country's seemingly continued indifference to the fact that we have lost our 'evil empire' virginity. we are innocent no more.
yes, yes, i know, 'but, they started it....'
In the days of old, during the feudal periods of each culture, this is the way things were done. But this is the 21st century, things aren't done that way anymore. John Wayne is dead and I'm sad about that, but that world does not exist anymore. We can't go riding in to save the day with our guns blazing, as dick cheney would have us believe.
I blame George Bush, not because he is evil, i do not believe he is. I just believe he is stupid, too stupid to know what cheney was doing, or maybe he didn't care. either way, the team was immoral in philosophy (or lack thereof) as well as in it's actions.
Bushco was supported by the very people (the religious right) that proclaim their morality from every mountaintop. Ironic, huh?
