Manypaths, now do you understand why I am against the government funding PBS and NPR? If the government funds something (even partially) the congress believes it can meddle with how that organization is run. PBS and NPR should only be funded with member contributions. If some members don't like Al Jazeera on PBs they can just stop contributing money, problem solved.

PBS is just another republican attempt to covertly destroy a free thinking public enterprise by labeling it liberal. Propaganda for weak minds...

Al Jazeera is wierd - I'd say they're pretty good quality their English-language stuff. There's not a market for insanity over here, and they know it. Their Arabic programming is where you get all of the obnoxious commentary and such.

For PBS, almost anything would make them more interesting/entertaining/
tolerable to watch.

OUr present economic situation certainly does tell us that we need to listen to fewer, not more, different perspectives. I think hearing Al Jazeera is important even if you do so with a large amount of skepticism.
