Nearly 40 percent of babies born in the United States in 2007 were delivered by unwed mothers, according to data released last month by the National Center for Health Statistics, a more than 25 percent jump from five years before.

Yes it is, letusbray. Try it sometime. "Stays" as in doesn't later leave because he's not married. It is possible for a cohabitant to not stay, you know. Get it?

Kim Hoffman is 39 years old. Maybe her dad should but out?

What will happen to out-of-wedlock births once gay marriage become legal?

I guess G-d needs to develope an interlocking pussy until marriage then it will unlock itself providing an avenue for baby reproduction.

Yep, it's a shithole of a job allright. Where'd you learn so much about it from, letusbray?

Please, feel free. Snap my neck, letusbray. LOL

This young generation has a good chance of having parents that went through divorce. Having gone through one myself, I can't blame them for wanting to keep the courts out of their life. They fuck both parties over bad. The lawyers make out like bandits.

Funny, my ex and I solved everything through no-fault - maybe you're just a prick, Ray.

You've confirmed what I suspected. You DO have a IQ of 50.

Add 110 and you're within 10. Dumbass.

Nope. Hopefully 7th time's a charm.

No. I started that on my own when I found out that the greater than and less than signs were taken for HTML tags on this blog.

You can't bluff me.

Done and done, golden boy.

Look up Robert P. Kirshner. An old pal of mine.

Robert P. Kirshner. An old pal of mine.

Never heard of him. I'm not impressed.

Gave me a tour of the Palomar Observatory, when he was a grad student at Caltech.

But, please, do go on about how you can't be bluffed.

And no, I never bought Microsoft stock in 1972.

I realize Harvard is a little out of your reach, goat-roper.

I realize Harvard is a little out of your reach, goat-roper.

No shit. You never cease to amaze me with your big brain.

Gave me a tour of the Palomar Observatory, when he was a grad student at Caltech.

Wow.

Of course, how I wish I could be dispensing band-aids to oil riggers. Damn fate.

And no, I never bought Microsoft stock in 1972.

Of course you didn't. And my g'g'g'g'g'grandfather never bought an iPod

Again, that giant brain astounds me.

Of course, how I wish I could be dispensing band-aids to oil riggers.

Go for it, then. It's a free country.

Losing steam, junior?

"Again, that giant brain astounds me.

Not surprising. Bet you get the same feeling every time you shower on the rig.

Bet you get the same feeling every time you shower on the rig.

Not really. Why would I?

Losing steam, junior?

I'm not named after my dad, but no. Call it ennui.

Bet you get the same feeling every time you shower on the rig.

Is this where you complete your JHS insult list with 'little dick' to go with the 'your wife', 'basement', and other pre-pubescent attempts at insults?

I dunno, what else will get you to waste the rest of your exciting rig evening, puppet?

I dunno, what else will get you to waste the rest of your exciting rig evening, puppet?

You. LOL

I thank you. You make me feel young again. Talking to you is like talking to a 12 YO.

Considering the prevalance of divorce and the decreasing interest in organised religion along with the lessened social stigma attached to having a child out of wedlock this trend was kinda predictable.

A marriage certificate is no guarantee of a loving home evniroment to raise kids.

Some never will.

Ray, you are being waaaaayy too generous. I don't think it's that high.

This is an issue that transcends political parties, and is a huge social problem. You can argue all day about "imposing morality" but the facts are clear; society suffers in just about every measurable category because of this. You can always find and cite individual exceptions, but on the whole, it's a devastating trend.

It was a democrat, Patrick Monihan, that first began sounding alarm bells about this years ago. His concern was that the african american community was being especially damaged from it. Its hard to remember now that in the 50's, african americans had a lower illegitimacy rate than whites.

I don't think the government can resolve this; its going to take responsible parenting, churches, and a willingness on the part of american society to first admit the problem.

"What will happen to out-of-wedlock births once gay marriage become legal?"

The children will grow up to be leftist-socialist democrats.

Oldie but goodie:

But I'll tell you this. Where's this idea that childbirth is a miracle came from.

Ha, I missed that fucking meeting, okay?

"It's a miracle, childbirth is a miracle."

No it's not. No more than a miracle than eating food and a turd coming out of your ass. It's a chemical reaction, that's all it fucking is.

If, you wanna know what a miracle is: raisin' a kid that doesn't talk in a movie theatre.

Okay, there, there, there is a goddam miracle.

It's not a miracle if every nine months any yin yang in the world can drop a litter of these mewling cabbages on our planet.

And just in case you haven't seen the single mom statistics lately, the miracle is spreading like wild-fire.

"Hallelujah!" Trailer parks and council flats all over the world just filling up with little miracles.

Thunk, thunk, thunk, like frogs laying eggs.

"Thunk, look at all my little miracles, thunk, filling up my trailer like a sardine can.

Thunk. You know what would be a real miracle, if I could remember your daddy's name, aargh, thunk.

I guess I'll have to call you Lorry Driver Junior.

Thunk.

That's all I remember about your daddy was his fuzzy little pot-belly riding on top of me shooting his caffeine ridden semen into my belly to produce my little water-headed miracle baby, urgh.

There's your brother, Pizza Delivery Boy Junior."

That's not a bad number until you realize that he is using Base 8 for the IQ calc. Impresses chicks it does.

I have an idea since your IQ is in the top 99.9% of all people why waste time blogging with us morons and go do something to improve the world.

You would also think he could come up with better insults than those that have the words "wife, basement" or lame barbs about someone's job or mental status.

I guess IQ isn't all it's cracked up to be.

A marriage certificate is no guarantee of a loving home evniroment to raise kids.

----

And not having one is no guarantee either. Whether the couple if married or not, there will still be a bond between the couple as well as the child.

The thing about being married and raising kids, as I see it, is that it is harder to call the relationship quits if you are married and therefore are more likely to work through tough times. When not married, you can just break up, but married people must get a divorce and that process alone can give the couple enough time to work things out.

It's ok - we can get the Democrat/Republican government to be their daddy. Child support, organic diapers, food stamps....

When not married, you can just break up.

Not necessarily. Depends on the state and the cohabitation laws. Common Law marriage can be invoked by one or both. Granted, there are a lot of actions that must take place within the cohabitation for Common Law marriage to be invoked. For example:

1. introduction of each other to neighbors, friends, acquaintances or business partners as husband and wife;
2. cohabitation of the parties as husband and wife;
3. maintenance of joint accounts;
4. purchase and joint ownership of property;
5. mutual financial support of each other;
6. registration as husband and wife on applications, leases, contract forms and hotel registers;
7. use of the man's surname by the woman; and
8. filing of joint tax returns

Intersting Zot. In Florida, we have no "co-habitation/ Common Law Marriages," so I know nothing at all about how they work. Thanks for that.

We should be thankful. Every kid born today--no matter how "legitimate"--will be sharing in Obama's big tax bills. More kids = less each.

"Every kid born today--no matter how "legitimate"--will be sharing in Obama's big tax bills. "

And not a peep during Bush's record deficits; nothing about Bush's "big tax bills".

It only bothers RIR when there's a (D) after the guy's name.

Bothers me too. And I was complaining then and now. But I'm a non duopoly voting liberal independent so I guess my complaints are as irrelevant as those of the republicans.

Really? DanforthUnity should pull up a few of my posts. Seriously--is there any difference between you retards?

You're a riot. "Look at all of Bush's spending! It's outrageous! We need pay-as-you-go!"--
TaxforthUnity, 2001-2008

"We need more deficit spending! Obama, are you listening? We need to borrow a few trillion dollars from the Chinese to send to Wall Street! Yes!! You da man!"
--TaxforthUnity, 2009

Don't ever change. You're funnier 'n TV.

"We need more deficit spending! "

No, we need LESS spending. I thought that when an (R) was in power, too. Therein lies the difference. The only time you've ever excoriated spending was when pushed. And you NEVER wanted to tax what we spend.

"In Florida, we have no "co-habitation/ Common Law Marriages," "

I thought all states had some sort of Common Law. Learn sumthin' new every day.

No, we need LESS spending.
#63 | Posted by Danforth

Yet you are one of Obama's staunchest supporters.

To be fair, a deficit budget was inevitable given what he walked into. Having said that, he has proposed and advocated some of the most irresponsible spending this country has ever seen, at a time when we can least afford it.

Thus far, when this is brought to your attention we are treated to Bush deflections.

I seriously hope I have simply been misconstruing your views as you come accross as one of this site's biggest Obama nut-sack massuese's.

No, we need LESS spending. I thought that when an (R) was in power, too. Therein lies the difference. The only time you've ever excoriated spending was when pushed. And you NEVER wanted to tax what we spend.

Then you're being stupid. I'm a small-government conservative who's always believed that our gov't should consume about 5% of GDP. Your reading comprehension either needs work, or your memory does. Either way, you need to be spending less time on here, and more time writing to your new idiot president, whom you voted for. Because he thinks he has your unqualified support to run a $3 trillion deficit this year.

And why shouldn't he? TaxforthUnity's are everywhere, dutifully preaching the gospel of more borrowed money to bail out his pals over at Sachs.

I think it's really cute when 'small government conservatives who voted for bush TWICE', open their assholes here.

Kinda like an anal soliloquy...

will be sharing in Obama's big tax bills. More kids = less each.

They'll still be paying off saint reagan's debts.

They left out one of the main reasons there are so many single mothers.
The Government check would be lower or
non-existant if daddy was still around.
A lot of times daddy is actually around unless the welfare lady is due for a visit.

Obama's FAULT!!

As we ALL know, it now only takes 10 weeks to bring a bay to full term!!

What a triumph for abstinence-only education!

It's great to have kids out of wedlock. Do what you want, it's your life... if you don't want it, just abort.

What we need is a new drug that guys can take that will distort their DNA. This way, DNA testing won't identify the true father.

#69 | Posted by DrPepper

Sadly there is a kernal of truth in this. It is not the sole reason but there are some "single mother" families that are not really single mother just legaly single mother.

It's a shame that we as a country support programs that contribute to the break down of the family.

It's great to have kids out of wedlock. Do what you want, it's your life... if you don't want it, just abort.

Noted Commie Bristol Palin.

Bush's fault

It's a shame that this turned into another Bush bash fest. This is a gravely serious problem. This is how societies begin to break down. With the economic status as it is we are already in a fix, but news like this can add a great deal to what we are already dealing with. A generation that grows up without parents, or with one parent, tends to be much less educated, finds crime much easier, has almost zero coping skills, becomes involved in drugs easier, and usually has no motivation to better themselves. This is very bad news for America.

It's great to have kids out of wedlock. Do what you want, it's your life... if you don't want it, just abort.

If these people were aborting pregnancies right and left, then why are there so many births?

"It's great to have kids out of wedlock, because your only alternative is murder."

I feel sorry for the babies. I hope this doesnt cost me as a taxpayer.

What a triumph for abstinence-only education!

idiot.

What a triumph for condoms and birth contol readily available on every street corner.

condoms and birth contol readily available on every street corner

Really? What street do you live on?

It must be that street you hear about on the news after someone gets pinched for a Z of nose candy with a "street value of a gazillion dollars". One of these days I'm gonna find that street and make fucking bank!
