Former Peruvian president Alberto Fujimori was convicted Tuesday of "crimes against humanity" and sentenced to 25 years in prison for his role in killings and kidnappings by security forces during his government's battle against leftist guerrillas in the 1990s.

Better Late than Never.

Did BO bow to him too?

Did your mom kick you out of the basement, Sucker?

The 'basement' retort, after the 'your wife' retort. What's next, 'you have a little dick'? Probably. LOL

This letusbray dude is some clever cookie!

Ooooh, my very own under-qualified stalker!

Yippeee!

I collect trite and sadly amusing trinkets.

LOSER!!!

You forgot, "And you you have a little dick". LOL

Too bad that's not Dubya and Company. That would give me a thrill and a half.

Come on, let us hear from some phonycons how we are doing this to protect the children. Or how about a demorat step up and and say this current trend is the fault of the Bush administration. Kids having fun, big deal.

FTA: The verdict... marked the first time that an elected head of state has been extradited back to his home country, tried and convicted of human rights violations.

Human rights activists called it a precedent-setting verdict that upheld the ideal that violent abuses cannot be ignored under the banner of fighting terrorism.

Really hope Bush and Cheney are reading this.

Kudos to the Peruvian legal system for doing the right thing here.

Be Well.

LOSER!!!

Wow!

I'll bet Goatman never saw THAT ONE coming!

And you probably never even had the courtesy to give him a reach around.

I collect trite and sadly amusing trinkets.

You tell me. Were my two little balls enough for you?

"And all of a sudden, a thread meant to discuss true crimes against humanity veered off and hit the stupid tree. There were no survivors."

On point, Fujimori democratically came to power when Peru was in the midst of a brutal civil war with the hideously violent Communist group Sendero Luminoso ("Shining Path"). Using extreme (even fascist) measures, Fujimori did something remarkable, - he successfully crushed Sendero Luminoso, and arrested its top commander. No doubt Fujimori sanctioned some horrible police actions in the fight. I just can't help but wonder whether in the long run Peru is now better off having crushed such a violent revolutionary organization. Put another way, sometimes it takes a ruthless man to combat other ruthless men.

That narrative and its circumstances sound vaguely familiar.

Sincerely,

Augusto P.

Big difference is that Augusto Pinochet overthrew a democratically elected communist leader. Allende was not some fringe violent revolutionary running around the mountains and jungles blowing up electrical grids and kidnapping local government officials.

My hero!

Sincerely,
Pinochet Mao

Speaking of vaguely familiar, Fujimori " argued ... that he was a wartime president fighting to protect his people ... "

Now where have we heard that before? Commander Kookoo Bananas was headed the same way.

"Using extreme (even fascist) measures, Fujimori did something remarkable, - he successfully crushed Sendero Luminoso, and arrested its top commander. I just got back from Peru. Alot of people there still like him. The Shining Path made life miserable in Peru. Fujimori also helped managed to rid them of 20-30% inflation, which is no small accomplishment.

His daughter received more votes than anyone in their last congressional election and if she wins the presidency in 2011, she's already promised to pardon him.

The destruction of the country, and elimination of "humanity" as a consideration based on the threats of revolutionaries only seem worth consideration in retrospect. The support for Fujimora during the exigent situation, was widespread. This Monday morning quaterbacking sets a bad precedent, and weakens the ability of countries to resist totally out of control revolutionaries.

The "convict" should be given a medal for saving the country. Maybe this is an object lesson. Don't compromise your own situation. Find some dedicated fool to save you, and then punish him for taking necessary actions.
