For the first time in 18 years, the media witnessed the arrival Sunday night at Dover Air Force Base of a soldier killed overseas. The remains of Staff Sgt. Phillip A. Myers, a 30-year-old who died in Afghanistan, arrived at 11 p.m. and was covered by the media with the consent of his family.

18 years? You mean to tell me that during the time Bill Clinton was in office he didn't do away with that policy? Funny, I don't remember Democrats complaining about it then, only when Bush Jr. was in office did this become a big deal.

Only because they wanted something new to bitch about.

Member-it was started by Herbie to cover up the number of Americans who died protecting the saudis' golden toilets, would have been boring during Clinton's Presidency (18-20 over 8 years)but vital during Bush's clusterfuck (18-20 a week).

But glad both you and KBM recognize another promise made and kept by Obama.

NG3, are you saying then that we should only be concerned about the loss of life of active duty personell when the numbers are high? Those poor people who died while Billy was commander-in-chief don't matter to you?

This link may provide the hint of an explanation.

LMAO Another Right Winged talking point shot in the ass LMAO Don't You just love those silly Right Wingers?? LMAO bwhahahahahahahahah

Larry

Glad to see this. America needs to see the dead. This helps to reinforce the corruption of the right in this country.

It's not a talking point and it certainly wasn't shot down. The fact that there were little casualties back then doesn't really explain why Billy didn't do away with the policy. A life is a life, whether one person dies or 10,000.

This helps to reinforce the corruption of the right in this country.

What? I think you meant to say "helps to reinforce the understanding of the extent of the corruption of the right in this country."

Even then, I'm not sure what you meant.

"The fact that there were little casualties back then doesn't really explain why Billy didn't do away with the policy."

It does explain why the American people didn't notice and begin to question the practice though.

yeah this morning they showed the casket of a serviceman and gave his name. can the family sue for invasion of privacy.
surely you libs remember what that is dont you?

and its pretty much typical and expected for most of you to use the bodies of dead military volunteers for your political advantage which is what this REALLY is and if you dont believe me just read what you are saying here.

you should be ashamed of yoursleves.

yes that is what I meant. The right has been trying to keep America stupid as to the extent of their war crimes. Seeing the bodies helps to shine a light on it. They may not care about how many people died in their quest for Israel's safety and oil but the left does.

Guess what? Their names, ages, bases, and where they are from has been being reported all along.

I don't think that's really an example of corruption though.

you should be ashamed of yoursleves.

Wrong BL2 your ignorance is what put the soldier in the ground. You voted for Bush 2x and therefore said I don't care how many servicemen die! Your greed for oil and profits led to that soldiers death. you should be ashamed.

Hagbard how is it not corrupt to have a war in order to gain a profit. Cheney pushed hard for this in order to get his kickbacks from Halliburton.

That's a different story. I thought we were talking specifically about the choice not to show the caskets of the war dead?

Hey BLT I hate to get to the nitty gritty on this but aren't soldiers and servicemen/women supposed to be Governmental Property until they are fully released from service?? If that is so how can they have "Right to Privacy" as far as Name and where from goes at least??

What a great example of leadership that Bill Clinton showed us, waiting for the American people to complain about a policy that was wrong to beging with before doing something about it, or not doing it.

So what you're saying now is that something is right or wrong according to polls.

Bout God Damned Time.

I guess you think the world is a better place now that you have seen a flag draped casket.

you are completely wrong and offbase.
and so if my greed for oil made me vote for bush.
WHERES MY FUCKIN MONEY.

and you and the liberal preoccuation with some sort of bush/cheney boogie man outlook has run its course

So what you're saying now is that something is right or wrong according to polls.
#20 | Posted by member2586

No, but the polls do provide impetus to action. Some things you have to wait for a critical mass of support to enact.

Im just saying that the family should have some say in it.
IF they agree then I see nothing wrong with it, but I do object to the obvious politizizing of it like we saw during the famous body counts and now the coffin counts ALL used for political agendas and these same people have the nerve to accuse me of backing the killing of a murdering dictator because if money I would somehow get from oil

Yeah sure...HEy I better go and change the oil in my porsche that I bought with that money.

Shouldn't Americans and especially those who support said actions be forced to see what their support for such dastardly deeds have wrought upon their fellow Countrymen and Countrywomen?? Seems to Me out of sight out of mind doesn't bode well for this Country as a whole.

Only women and alleged "men" drive a porche.

I assure you they have never been out of mind.

and the following are perfect examples of using these bodies as political fodder

But glad both you and KBM recognize another promise made and kept by Obama.

The world is always gonna suck, "alleged" sniper.

It's the reality of Duuuhbya's folly that this once great country needs to see.

Pathetically funny, BLT.

That's easy BLT just wait until You got to the Library and then take all four tires and invert them so the car was sitting on the wheel rims. LOL

The family does have to consent. If they do not want the casket shown it isn't. The family has the last say. This family consented and wanted the return of their loved one captured for posterity.

I would do the same If in that position.

To me it is akin to the beginning of an honor guard which culminates at the funeral.

okay NOW that makes sense

'dont tread on me'

yeah this morning they showed the casket of a serviceman and gave his name. can the family sue for invasion of privacy.

Names, details, long since public knowledge.

Showing the coffins, that's up to the families. So take it up with them and make sure you explain to them how they've fucked up.

doc....as I said earlier...
it was pointed out that someone , somehow, knew that the family okayed it and I said..
okay...........

geesh let it go

How fast can the military move if ordered to leave Iraq right now?

This question is for those who were in the military for they should be able to answer this question.

There should be no more dead in Iraq when the soldiers are no longer there. If we shouldn't have gone there, then move them out. Now. This whole idea that the military can't evacuate that fast is to me BS.

Pull them out. I think the US military could be out of Iraq in less than a month. It's amazing what are troops did in WWII in shorter timeframes with 1945 equipment.

So, if anyone dies in Iraq today, blame Obama.

"Glad to see this. America needs to see the dead. This helps to reinforce the corruption of the right in this country.

The dead of today belong to Obama. He can remove the troops now.
