When are the morons going to learn that you cannot vote away civil rights?

How surprising.

In my golden hippie days, Iowa was one of the states were I experienced the most explicit, albeit misplaced homophobia.

I guess the hair and the skirt made it confusing for them though.

The fishnets probably didn't help either.

LOL... it was a hippie skirt.

Fishnets ALWAYS help!

DES MOINES, Iowa - The Iowa Supreme Court issued a unanimous ruling Friday finding that the Midwestern state's same-sex marriage ban violates couples' constitutional rights, making Iowa the third U.S. state where gay marriage will be legal.

In its decision, the court upheld a 2007 district court judge's ruling that the law violates the state constitution. It strikes the language from Iowa code limiting marriage to only between a man a woman.

THis is the ultimate test for the 10th Amendment really. There is nothing in the Constitution giving the Feds any rights over who can marry whom.

ONE BIG 1 TRILLION WATT SMILE

The Federal Government IE the SCOTUS declared that Marriage is a FUNDAMENTAL Right therefore the 10th amendment does not apply. If the Right to Marriage is so fundamental to the very fabric of this great Nation then it's not up to the States to decide who can Marry who.

Larry

Larry,
It is the states who issue marriage licenses, not the Federal government. All the fed does is recognize those unions for tax purposes. While I support gay marriage (everyone deserves to be unhappy), I do not want the feds ruling one way or the other because it is none of their business.

An important stepping stone to allowing Io-Wain-Ians to marry pigs

Wis,
So you support pre-marital sex with pigs?

Look for the corn crop to be raped by locals...errr...locusts.

Why does Iowa ignore the word of the lord? I hope Iowa turns blue, and they feel the lord's wrath.
A pox upon thois heathens and their gheyness!

BTW, the 3 or 4 ghey people in Iowa probably painted the town red last night. With a hint of mauve.

Wis,
So you support pre-marital sex with pigs?

I doubt he cares what you and your "lady" do in your spare time...

Grease her up and have at it for all I care. BTW kanrei, do you really value my opinion or did you fuckup?

State laws are subject to the limitations of the 1st Amendment throught the 14th Amendment.

Marriage ia a Fundamental Right yet Voting is not.

It took a Constitutional Amendments to change the Nation's view of Voting.

It took a Constitutional Amendment to outlaw alcohol but it didn't when it came to illegal narcotics.

This all makes sense.

Hit submit too soon. Moreover, the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment provides "no State shall" deprive any person of due process or equal protection of the laws. Laws that infringe upon "fundamental rights" may be invalid under the Due Process Clause of the 5th and 14th Amendments. The determination of what constitutes a fudnemental right is made on a case by case basis.

People bring up the Constitution often. Interesting how in some ways, it's helped us blaze trails and be true leaders of the world, and in other ways, it's held us back from addressing the issues of the times and making progress.

BTW kanrei, do you really value my opinion or did you fuckup?

Was just making a joke. You said "An important stepping stone to allowing Io-Wain-Ians to marry pigs" so I asked if you supported pre-marital sex with pigs?

Oh and 101,
I doubt he cares what you and your "lady" do in your spare time...

You mother and I appreciate your blessings. She thought it would bother you, but I said you would be cool with it.

Wis,

Oh Damn! It was a fuck up! I am so sorry! Vernon said it, not you! Why did I think it was you? Blogging before the caffeine kicks in is not always advised.

Its even more disgusting the first way, lol.

There'll be some cornhol'n by the cornhuskers tonight!

".....said the Sodomite to Lot...#26 | Posted by TheOneBS "

No, what the Sodomites said to Lot was that they demanded to know WHO Lot was hiding.

Faliing to turn them over to the crowd, Lot declined.

Instead he offered up his virgin DAUGHTERS.

So much for 'Family Values.'

Nothing worse than a lasy-ass Christian who thinks he/she knows the bible.

Moron.

Sure there is - a dumb ass pagan who pretends to know and judge the Bible from his butt-pirate depravity.

Probably the biggest test of being a Christian is knowing and accepting that you have to forgive and pray for the Theo Nebs of the world.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but Iowa is already blue. Just look at any 2008 Election map.

- We gave you the Obama nomination
- We ruled gay marriage bans unconstitutional
Heh. Guess we own, sorry

As Elijah prayed that God withhold rain for three years for Israel's sin, let us also pray that God would do the same with Iowa, and that its corn crop will shrivel under a similar drought for this defiance.

Should polygamy now be legalized?

It's nice to see civilization/democracy come to middle America. Surely a bit late, but still welcome. Forty-seven to go? herm
