Those folks have been working like crazy, sure hope it works.

My wife has been up in Fargo the past week visiting relatives. She said that nearly every business in closed so that the employees can volunteer sandbagging. All the schools are closed and they were begging people to leave town yesterday. They really don't think the dikes are going to hold.

The people of Fargo will survive and prosper. However, if this flood had been in Oakland, Detroit or New Orleans it would have been a magor FEMA scale disaster with stupid fucks on rooftops and people floating on logs and crying, "Where's the government, wahhhhhhhh?"

I keep seeing the news and each sandbag looks like a pillow case with a scoop of sand. Maybe they did it so people could move each of them with ease but....

Well, the levy in NO held back Lake Pontchartrain not the sea. Second, river communities are used to checking the flood stage so they have time to plan an evacuation to higher ground. In Louisiana there's really no "higher ground," and the evacuation was curtailed by hurricane winds.

Of course you won't find any school buses under water in Fargo.

How many of the occupants of the "chocolate city" were out there trying to save their property or protect the city? How many were out looting etc.? Wonder if you will see the same thing happen in North Dakota? Wonder if the citizens of North Dakota will be out there looting and demanding that the FEMA show up and cure all their ills. My money says no...totally different culture.
