Ask yourselves this "DO we really care about the Taliban? I mean they only entered the picture because Bin Laden was paying them to stay on their land. Had we not gone after Al-Qaeda, the Taliban would not be in our vocabulary.

For the sake of some sort of victory, we need to tone down the anti-Taliban rhetoric and try to flip the Taliban in our favor (and their financial favor temporarily) in order to root out Al-Qaeda and finally kill/capture Bin Laden.

Please don't misconstrue my wanting to flip the Taliban with me approving of them. I certainly don't, but we need to ask ourselves if we want to go broke fighting them when Saudi Arabia treats their women the very same way. Al-qaeda needs to be the focus.

As for the rusting, none of my knives has ever rusted (neither have the katana swords in my teacher's collection), so that is that.

Mine have surface rust and it doesn't affect them at all. Knives are tools, just like guns are tools. Extensions of the body they are attached to. My knives are used enough that surface rust, even on the edge, doesn't affect it a bit. Occasionally, a little break free or Rem oil will take the surface rust off and make the blade pretty.

Swords are decoration. They have no usefulness other than to be used in martial arts demonstrations and hanging on walls.

Actually, what is happening is that the civilian government of Pakistan is losing to the Taliban. The Taliban is using parts of Pakistan as a base of operations for causing trouble in Afghanistan. It starts with Pakistan. Which we are really powerless to do anything about. If we were to "invade" Pakistan, it would just fuel the Taliban in their ideological/religious war with the government of Pakistan. I don't see how we can easily win this one.

Wilson fixed this whole mess for $1 billion. All that was needed was a few more hundred million to clean up the mess that war left. But the minute the Russians moved out Congress abandoned those people and the Taliban moved into the power vacuum.

What will it cost now? Short sighted leadership is the rule.
