An earthquake that killed at least 80,000 people in Sichuan, China, last year may have been triggered by an enormous dam just miles from the epicenter. Scientists in China and the United States believe the weight of water, and the effect of it penetrating into the rock, could have affected the pressure on the fault line underneath, possibly unleashing a chain of ruptures that led to the quake.

Man can do nothing to affect the earth. This is Al Gore and some sunspot's fault.

The Right

The earthquake was likely the result of global warming.

Be Well.

Only a fool thinks they can fool mother nature. She is the boss not us. She will shake us off her back like the pack of fleas we are...

The chinese are infamous for their engineering stupidity.

For instance did you ever hear about the 747 they took apart then put back together again? It won't fly.....

OR that they built the largest suspension bridge in the world? 2 years later they damned the river, and now it's a bridge over a dry river bed!

And ALL of their buildings are no where near up to western building codes.....

Only a fool thinks they can fool mother nature. She is the boss not us. She will shake us off her back like the pack of fleas we are...

Truer words never spoken. Build whatever levees you want, earthquake proof buildings you want, hurricane proof homes you want . . . if mother nature wants 'em, she'll get 'em.

whew! from the title I was afraid this article was posted by that quack george nauri (s.p.) trying to tell us GWB has a climate machine, ransoming the world or something.

let's see which is proven first man-made global warming (quit moving the goal posts guys) or that this damned river caused an earthquake. tick-tock-tick...

These guys gotta get off the opium.

The chinese are infamous for their engineering stupidity.

Yet Walmarties love their stuff.

Saying walmarties love they're stuff is kind of a lie. The reality is, they are the lowest bidder.

"The chinese are infamous for their engineering stupidity."

Yeah, that "Great Wall" - what a pile of shit.

amin china now. modern chinese houses are concreteand rebar. no woor. no nails. i've seen hundreds of them being built. they use lots of rebar and lotsa tie wire. things are tanks.

i'd rather be in one of these in a tornado than the plwood homes in the states.

i'd rather be in one of these than in an american house in an earhtquake as well. the rebar/concrete sways but stays.

enginering? the chinese build to specs. if walmart wants crud, chine gives them crud. the chinese are building airplanes now and boeing/airbus will be much smaller in 20 years.

"The chinese are infamous for their engineering stupidity."

At one time, but not now.

Not to pile on, but what they can manufacture, the engineering in creating the factories, the processes, the technology is State of the Art. If you saw it, you'd understand just how far behind we are.

It hurts me to my core.

Sways but stays, unless its a school day.Letusprey you cracked me up

They can't even managed to steal moulds properly even after getting the technical drawings.
We've toured their brand new plants and the machinery (the new stuff) was basically obsolete here in the US.

Militarily (where the engineering and technology would be most evident) they're still decades behind in some respects.

I do not share your doom and gloom.

""""The chinese are infamous for their engineering stupidity.""""

Vs your country which is known for its general stupidity.

Ha! Saw them a long time ago (very, very). They had a gigantic Godzilla puppet spewing fire and lazers...cool. We got so tweeked for that concert I'm surprised I remember any of it.

Who farted?

"I do not share your doom and gloom."

Well then you won't be invited to any faux-intellectual circle jerks where everyone sits around and talks about the Chinese as if they are magic (after the issue of who gets to eat the cracker has been decided, of course).

Man made global warming and now man made earthquakes. I think Katrina and that Tsunami were man made and so was the Earth.

UTA-
I get it. When you find something complex like the world, you create your own simpleminded reality in order to feel safe. You write little posts about your imaginary world and even quote the people in your imaginary world.

Tort. Tort. Hire Edwards. He seems to have retired from politics, and so may be again available to file lawsuits. Then again, I don't know anything about the Chinese justice system. But he's obtained some hefty judgments, channeling dead fetuses and the like.

Hey, the Chinese are experts at back-engineering products and avoiding research and development costs. Unfortunately, they have compromised the quality of their products to meet the demands of consumers abroad for ever lower prices.

Interesting theory. Any better evidence?
