GOP adopts affirmative action!

Promise to run credible black candidates for office before new century begins!

Will the GOP be calling him Michael
the magic Negro?

Hey, Regional Parties need thier Magic Nego too.

Well that's just a bad typo........

Is there a cabinet position available for BO's buddy Blago?

Well, at least he's a genuine Negro.

A black republican?
What the fuck. It wasn't the wars, the economy, the erosion of rights, the pretzel thing, or even the 911 attacks, but this is the last fucking straw. I quit.

I don't know, why don't you ask David Ehrenstein with the LA Times who started the Barak The Magic Negro Phrase.

Yeah. Alan Keyes. And his daughter is a dyke.

Good for Steele, he deserves it. A fine man and a good republican.

Holy shit.

Rex might be right.

This is great! I really like Steele.

"Hey, when we elected him we didn't even realize he was black."

He tows the stall line...

Does he have a wide or narrow stance?

How about you just go and f yourself or are you too busy in the Minny Airport men's room? Try to
widen your stance a little bit.

Every time I see this guy I think of that 80's rapper Humpty...

this is fantastic - i've been rooting for michael for so long - now, if he'd just run for potus in 2012!

What stance does he take on sucking dicks in shithouses?

you should ask a real cocksucker like barney frank.
,

Why didn't they give it to limbobo?

I wonder ----- will steele dance a jig he likes?

Think of all the Republicans with sore necks from having to turn around to look at the back of the room whenever their Chair speaks.

Unfortunately for the GOP, Obama's election is gonna lock the black vote down for a generation or two, and Steele's gonna go down real well in the Republican heartland..

"and Steele's gonna go down real well in the Republican heartland.."

Teehee!

Can you imagine what the Crackers in South Carolina are doing right now!

The Agony!

The minute that Barack Obama was elected President anyone with a brain would have told you that MR. Steele would be the RNC Chairman. THIS IS WINDOW DRESSING, NOTHING ELSE...

Maybe Mr. Steele can get at least one Republican Black elected to Congress....These Republicans don't even like BLACKS who the fuck are they kidding?????

Its a reactive win, it was not proactive.

Now that was funny, I don't care who your are, dat dare was funny.

The RNC puts a black man in charge:

" THIS IS WINDOW DRESSING, NOTHING ELSE..

But if the RNC never puts a black man in charge:

"These Republicans don't even like BLACKS who the fuck are they kidding?????"

LOL The "damned if you do, damned if you don't" gam is tired, trite, and passe', celery Get some new tricks.

"But if the RNC never puts a black man in charge:yada, yada"

You said "the RNC put a Black Man in Charge" ----- and This Makes Me Snicker!

He is not in charge, hell, the RNC isn't even "in charge" anymore!

This is fucking Great! I'm going to make myself a drink and enjoy ---- the WingDing, DingDong, Full on Joe Dirt Mullet Mutant Carnival that once was called the Republican Party!

"GOATMAN"....You Racist Prick you never change, how many Blacks Republicans in Congress????? The Democrats voted for President Obama because he was the best for the job, these pricks voted for Mr. Steele to try to get in the game, this Uncle Tom is not fooling anyone.........Except maybe Assholes like you!!!!!

GOATMAN"....You Racist Prick

???

how many Blacks Republicans in Congress?????

I really don't know celery. Race isn't important to me. You seem overly obsessed with it though. Grow up, celery. Always referencing a person's skin color is so NOT 21st century.

Move one

He is not in charge,

???

The chairman of the RNC is not in charge of the RNC? That's news to me, and the rest of the DR too, I'm sure.

You're losing it (as if we didn't already know that) redneckshill.

Clarence Thomas, Condi Rice.

Yep, them Repubs hate blacks!

If Clarence had run for president and won, would there be the same jick-fest from the media as given to the messiah?

Me thinks not, cuz it just don't fit the Libtard stereotype of repubs.

...which ought to tell you something! Obama is not celebrated as the first American black president by the left, so much as he is celebrated as the radical leftist Libtard president who happens to be black.

whoever gets to drive the train over the cliff with the rest of the vegetards can do it no matter what their skin color, as long as they take all their fellow lemmings and bobbleheads with 'em. Idiots come in all colors.

GOP with a plan $0, selecting someone to drive the train to nowhere, priceless.

Will the GOP be calling him Michael
the magic Negro?

nothin magic about it, try calculated risk.

Obama is not celebrated as the first American black president by the left, so much as he is celebrated as the radical leftist Libtard president who happens to be black.

If it isn't my favorite virulent homophobe (and closet case) on the DR! As usual, your comments make about as much sense as pissing into a brisk headwind.

What stance does he take on sucking dicks in shithouses?

hahahaha

poor GOP, so much to lose, so little time.

you should ask a real cocksucker like barney frank.

better yet, just ask a make believe kinda pretending sort of recovered, thank you jesus cocksucker like haggard or who was that bitch in the twin cities airport Mary Craig?

Wow, maybe the two of you can have a support group for gay-bashing closet homosexuals. I'll give you your privacy. Don't post anything too raunchy, though.

you do have to laugh at the total idiocy of it and value added hypocrisy. i mean come on it's stranger than fiction. try a little ky.

What stance does he take on sucking dicks in shithouses?

I dunno...they'll have to have him and Senator Craig hold a meeting in the Capitol's men's room-and find out how wide his stance is.

Come to Drudge Retort to witness racism at its finest.

Michael Steele

The numinous negro.
Hope we can change in.

He goes from not even being a member of the RNC to the head of it?

I saw a Documentary about Haggard called the Trials of Pastor Ted Haggard.

It was done by Alexandra Pelosi (Yes, the Daughter of THAT Pelosi) but it wasn't a ht piece at all. She and Haggard are friends and she was with Haggard for roughly a year and I have to say that I gained a new respect for that man.

He still admits that he's battling with is demons and said that he never claimed he was "Completely heterosexual". That was claimed by one of the people who took over his church.

It really answered a lot of questions and laid to rest a lot of myths surrounding him.

For one, he's not a millionaire from his Church. He was (is) literally selling Health Insurance door to door and was losing money doing so. His family is staying in Hotels while he tries to find work. He's a man beaten down and I for one can forgive the man. I hope he really does well, he's been through the ringer for long enough.

If you get a chance to see it, do it! It's now on HBO On Demand (as of last night).

"THEONESBS"......For Your information Clarence Thomas was put forth by the Republicans to poke the eye of the Blacks in this Country. To replace a Giant in Civil Rights, like Thurgood Marshall by the likes of Thomas was a disgrace. George H.W.Bush the President did this when Clarence Thomas was 42 years old an the elder Bush tried to convince the country that this fuck was the most qualified........Only the most Racist of Americans believed this.....

As for Ms. Rice, like Colin Powell they were use by the Repubs to cover Bush's an Cheneys ASS.....

I can see it now.

The new slogan of the republican party.

"We've got one, too"

"GOATMAN"....You Racist Prick you never change, how many Blacks Republicans in Congress????? Hmm...I've been away but I see that Celisary still hasn't gotten that exclamation-mark key fixed.

CEL - go in the bathroom and pull your shorts outta your crack. And consider your incredibly foolish post. You insult Mr Steele, a man who won elections - you know, where the PEOPLE vote? And then you call him Uncle Tom?

And you wonder about the number of black people in Congress - why not ask the PEOPLE of America, Right AND Left? They can vote in whomever they like.

It looks like you are the one who is being racist, insulting a black man simply because he has the gall to not be a Democrat.

What a racist you are, celery. Insinuating that all these blacks were so stupid that they allowed themselves to be manipulated.

I give everyone credit for making their own decisions and don't assume they are so stupid that they are controlled by others.

Don't be such a racist, celery. Those black republicans are smart enough to think for themselves regardless what you say.

The new slogan of the republican party.

"We've got one, too"

I guess you'd rather their slogan be:

"We don't have any"

Is that right, billjohnson?

It must be nice to so conveniently sit there and play the 'damned if you do, damned if you don't' game, isn't it?

Goat,

No...I just amused myself. That's all.

Besides...they don't need me to damn them.

They've damned themselves.

Besides...they don't need me to damn them.

They've damned themselves.

I see this Black-Republican thing is always going to be a problem for some people. I wonder why. Possibly a throwback to the Old South, where they had complete control over black people and could make them dance whenever they wanted?

He goes from not even being a member of the RNC to the head of it?

Insert "affirmative action" joke here: ______

Mrfair,

Hey...I don't have a problem with blacks who are republican.

It's just that there's not a lot of them.

I mean...when I was watching the republican national convention on tv, I was almost blinded by the glare of so many white people.

I see this Black-Republican thing is always going to be a problem for some people. I wonder why. Possibly a throwback to the Old South, where they had complete control over black people and could make them dance whenever they wanted?

See McConnell: GOP Becoming 'Regional Party'

"We're all concerned about the fact that the very wealthy and the very poor, the most and least educated, and a majority of minority voters, seem to have more or less stopped paying attention to us,"

"The future of campaigns and elections depends, for both parties, on the ability to attract voters from the Hispanic community,"

Too bad they didn't have a Hispanic in the running.

"mean...when I was watching the republican national convention on tv, I was almost blinded by the glare of so many white people."

Why won't blacks leave the democrat plantation? Has life been good under democrat whitey master?

You dems whine when we don't have blacks in leadership positions and then you cry token black if one does get a leadership position. The point being democrats are scared to death that blacks will see through the facade created by the democrat party.

"democrats are scared to death that blacks will see through the facade created by the democrat party."

Anyone seeing how Republicans treated Obama in the last election know better. Their attitude toward blacks was made very, very clear. Ken Mehlman knew it to, and admitted as much to the NAACP.

www.usatoday.com

Steele is being pimped out by the repubs to get a few black votes. I can just hear the white rethugs in congress complaining that it has come down to electing a Negro just to try a regain some of their lost power. Steele should be smart enough to know his so called colleagues really hate him and every other black in America.

know = knows

Steele is being pimped out by the repubs to get a few black votes.

And I'll say it again: The right is in a now win situation in the eyes of the left, aren't they? They either never enlist the blacks which means they hate them, or they do enlist them, but they are only tokens.

Kind of a fucked up attitude on blacks in the GOP isn't it? It's almost as if the left is saying, "The blacks are ours. Hands off". Seems pretty elitist on the left's part

Steele got the job because he is the best one for it...period, anyone that say other wise, has another motive or has no idea who he is....

I've been pulling for him for a long time.

Mr. Steele was the most moderate candidate. Good move by the RNC to pick an outsider who has a proven track record in blue states.

I may disagree with the man on many issues, but I expect he is someone who understands how to make a solid compromise.

Steele is being pimped out by the repubs to get a few black votes.

Also along those lines, if I was steele, I'd see this sort of remark as a slap in the face. It's like saying, "You are too stupid to follow your own heart politically, Mr. Steele. You are being pimped out and you are allowing it because you don't know better".

Again, the elitism of the left's part is apalling. Just because the man is black does not mean he does not know and desire to follow his his own political leanings. Don't be so racist! He is as smart as any other man or woman.

"Kind of a fucked up attitude on blacks in the GOP isn't it?"

I doubt you were asleep for the most recent Presidential campaign. Blacks were left with no uncertainty about how Republicans feel about them.

Oh, and have you met our resident poster Johnson?

On topic, I'm glad to see Steele chosen and hope he does well. Godspeed, sir.

Blacks were left with no uncertainty about how Republicans feel about them.

So this precludes any other blacks from associating with the GOP if they want to? Isn't it up the them to decide if the felt they were ostracized, or is it up to the democratic party to make that decision for them?

Oh, and have you met our resident poster Johnson?

Yes. And he has exactly what to do with Steele and the decision he made to chair the RNC?

"So this precludes any other blacks from associating with the GOP if they want to?"

No, but it reminds me of the Log Cabin Republicans. Who would want to support an organization that treats you with---at best---disdain?

Who would want to support an organization that treats you with---at best---disdain?

Obviously those members don't agree with you, danforth. Maybe they know their heart better than you know their heart. Maybe they know how they've been treated better than you know how they've been treated.

Imagine that.

Honestly, danforth, your elitist attitude in assuming how others feel about the political organizations they belong to is appalling. People know themelves better than you do. I'd be pissed as hell at someone like you presuming to know the leanings of my heart better than I.

All one has to do is view the Republican National Convention. It's like a white sheet of paper with very few black specs. Why they would want any part of the Republican Party or the GOP is beyond Me.

Larry

PS -- I get a lot of that same attitude from a few posters here myself (betelg is the worst about telling me how I feel and my opinions. So I can imagine how Mr. Steele would feel with someone like you telling him how badly he's been treated and how he should (or does) feel.

Why they would want any part of the Republican Party or the GOP is beyond Me

Why you would assume to know and understand the heart of another person is beyond me.

Why you would assume to know and understand the heart of another person is beyond me.

It's the fucking attitude of the GOP Dumbass. They dispize Blacks and they dispize Gays and Lesbians. If they didn't then why is it they relegate them to Second Class status and all that?? Common Sense Goatman Common fucking sense.

larry

Goatie, don't let Fifi get you all riled.

That boy has alot of bark and no bite.

Get real Rex the one who thinks He is all that and a bag of chips. Yawnnnnnnnnnnnnnn what a drip

Larry

It's the fucking attitude of the GOP Dumbass. They dispize Blacks and they dispize Gays and Lesbians. If they didn't then why is it they relegate them to Second Class status and all that

So are you saying that blacks are too stupid to understand they should disassociate themselves from the GOP and they need people like you to show them the light?

You're an elitist, Larry.

Why do you think you need to tell the blacks and gays how they've been treated and who does or doesn't despise them? Don't you think they are smart enough to figure that out on their own?

Goatie, don't let Fifi get you all riled.

LOL

You're not Fifi, LarRy....

Don't get ahead of yourself son.

Blacks that join the GOP are idiots. The GOP of today are bigots that will never do anything to help minorities. Steele is either incompetent or a race traitor like Keyes. If he had any sense he would be in the DNC where blacks are welcomed with open arms.

I'm an elitist huh ??? bwhahahahahaha OMFG ROFLMMFAO Oh shit thats Hillarious Goatman. Me an Elitist?? Someone who barelyu has a pocket to piss in and boots to pour it out of an elitist. God now I gotta Go if You catch My drift. bwhahahahahaah OMFG hahahahahaha oh me oh myyyyyyyyyyy LMAO

Larry

"Honestly, danforth, your elitist attitude in assuming how others feel about the political organizations they belong to is appalling."

Ken Mehlman admitted the Republicans had been using the blacks as vote fodder in front of the NAACP.

And are you going to pretend Obama running for President didn't unleash a wave of ugliness?

But, just for a moment, imagine if the candidates had been reversed: What if the white Republican candidate had graduated magna from Harvard, edited the Law Review, taught Constitutional Law for 12 years and still been on his first wife, while the black Democrat had graduated near the bottom of his class, crashed several planes, cheated on his wife, married a woman who became addicted to pain pills & stole from a charity for her fix, and the had a black running mate who had given birth less than nine months after marrying, and had a teenage kid who was pregnant.

I wish Steele well, and anyone who wants to be a Republican certainly can, but let's not ignore the past completely or pretend the Republican party is suddenly black-friendly. Not much has changed since Mehlman's admission.

But this helps. All in all, I think it's a good thing.

Boyd is Fifi, you need to get Open Season 2....

That little yipper is Boyd all over

Blacks that join the GOP are idiots.

Wow.

Even the word 'elitist' doesn't cover that.

I'll wait for tom sowell to weigh in on this on sunday perhaps.....why is the color of the skin still an issue with the redempubocraticans?

are we not men?

I'm an elitist huh

Yep. Anyone who presumes to know what is best for others is an elitist.

You are also being very condescending. That's fucked up.

Goat I'm just being honest. The GOP might as well just come out and admit they are the party of southern bigots. Steele has to realize half the GOP'ers would kill their daughters if they ever brought home a black boyfriend.

Ken Mehlman admitted the Republicans had been using the blacks as vote fodder in front of the NAACP.

And are you going to pretend Obama running for President didn't unleash a wave of ugliness?

Obama doesn't matter. Ken Mehlman doesn't matter. What matters is what the individual feels. He is smart enough to know all the variables and solve the equation on his own and know what works best for him.

So danforth, rasta, and larry -- it sounds like all three of you agree that the right should never have anything to do with the blacks again because you feel they (the blacks) have been treated badly in the past.

Is this a correct assumption?

Observe yourself, check our own beliefs.

When you are alone and thinking, ask yourself if you are having the right thoughts and if they are your own.

Always be thinking.

Vnv Nation - Legion

The GOP might as well just come out and admit they are the party of southern bigots.

And the left may as well come out and say that they know what is best for blacks because they are too stupid to figure it out for themselves.

Let me put it to You this way Goatman. If I were a black man it would be a cold day in hell before I'd even THINK about joining the GOP and Republican Party.

Larry

"What matters is what the individual feels."

I agree, and have said as much. I'm sure some gays identify with the Republican party as well.

"Is this a correct assumption?"

No. I've stated I wish him the best, and I hope this begins a more moderate course for the Republican party and its members.

Do you believe their behavior in the past has been exemplary?

Steele has to realize half the GOP'ers would kill their daughters if they ever brought home a black boyfriend.

There's also a high percentage of white lefties who would do the same, but we hide that under the rug and pretend it doesn't happen, don't we? Everyone knows there is no racism on the left -- correct?

Goat the right have shown themselves to be the party of fear mongering racists. Why on earth would anybody want to be part of a party that hates people of color. There is such a thing as a conservative democrat. Steele cut still preach spending cuts while not associating with so many people that probably don't really like him.

If I were a black man it would be a cold day in hell before I'd even THINK about joining the GOP and Republican Party

Great. That's you and you have every right to make that decision and I fully support you. But you have zero rights to tell Mr. Steele or any other black or gay what is best for themselves.

JA, President Hussein is living on fear right now....Fear is what brought him into power...and fear is what is pushing his agenda...

Do you live on fear?

Dawn of Ashes -Torture device

Any Gay in the GOP is really beyond stupid. The GOP goes out of their way to restrict the rights of gays. Thankfully more and more people are starting to realize that the only people the GOP benefits are whites that make over 150k a year.

Why on earth would anybody want to be part of a party that hates people of color

Ask them. I don't pretend to know everyone's feelings.

So to answer my question in #90, you feel the GOP should never court the blacks because of past indescritions. Is that correct, rasta?

Fear is what elected GWB in 04. Hope for prosperity and peace elected Obama.

So you're gay, JA?

I've stated I wish him the best, and I hope this begins a more moderate course for the Republican party and its members.

I like that answer, danforth. Thank you

The GOP can court anybody they want. I think people of color who join the GOP are fools.

No Rex I am straight but I strongly believe gays deserve equal rights.

Do you believe their behavior in the past has been exemplary?

No. But I do believe people and parties can learn from their mistakes and improve themselves. And when they do improve themselves, it isn't fair to hold the past over their head forever and ever.

So you vote soley on gay right, but you are straight....

Yep. Anyone who presumes to know what is best for others is an elitist.

So if I tell you dancing on the double yellow lines is a bad idea, i'm an elitist?

Let's dial this down. You and Larry are one in the same.

Dawn Of Ashes - Portrait of Homicide

Any Gay in the GOP is really beyond stupid.

I think people of color who join the GOP are fools.

Your condescension is remarkably base and I'm surprised you put it on such open display. Points for honesty, though. I don't think I've ever seen such blatant and open elitism.

So if I tell you dancing on the double yellow lines is a bad idea, i'm an elitist?

I'm not familiar with dancing on the yellow line, but yes, if I have all the facts you have and you presume to know what is best for me -- you are an elitist.

However, if you know something about a situation that I don't (IOW, I am more ignorant on the subject) no, you would not be an elitist. I would see you helping someone intellectually inferior.

"...because of past indescritions." ... "...it isn't fair to hold the past over their head forever and ever."

Well, how long in the past? I mean, when you punch someone for decades, it's probably unreasonable to expect them to suddenly trust you just because you stopped a few hours ago. Again, I hope this ushers in a new era, but here's a sampling from some of our more right-leaning residents in just the last few months:

"poor, poor tamira from the article - what WILL she and shaniqua and jufunya do?"
-Nanc

"I guess we will have to make him president so we don't have a riot after the election."
-Sniper

"when Mr. Affirmative Action brought his two nappy headed whores..."
--Fwthom

"You know them Muzzies. Incest is best! "
-Farmer John

"I have a box of pancake mix that has an image of Michelle on it."
-Wisgod

"...send the house negro over..."
-Dave the Wave

"The term "Baby Mama" should be replaced by "Gorilla Girl"."
-Ozzieoswald

"Who's gonna clean up the chicken bones, watermelon rinds and malt liquor cans?"
-Shirtsbyeric

I don't see it at elitism to have an opinion that the GOP benefits very few people. I find it amazing that the GOP has been so successful in their campaigns to win elections. If you peel through their layers of slogans and propaganda you soon realize that the GOP is geared towards disenfranchising minorities and transferring wealth to the uber rich in this country.

Dancing on the double yellow line is dancing in the middle of the street hence the double yellow line.

Larry

The right is for empowerment of all, the left is for using the weak in hope of freebee's and cheap votes.

It's always been that way, and it always will be..

"However, if you know something about a situation that I don't (IOW, I am more ignorant on the subject) no, you would not be an elitist. I would see you helping someone intellectually inferior."

Must. Resist. Snarky. Response....

Nite all. Looooooooong day tomorrow. Thanks for the conversation.

If you are democrat, you are being used because of your ignorance of reality....

The right is for empowerment of all

That is why they always revert back to denying gays the right to Marry??

They want to empower who they think deserves to be empowered and that certainly is not ALL.

The right is for empowerment of all, the left is for using the weak in hope of freebee's and cheap votes.

It's always been that way, and it always will be..

You're full of shit too Rex. How can You say the right is for empowerment of all when they relegate blacks and gays and lesbians to second class citizen status by their actions. What utter poppycock and a half.

Larry

Hell, I think gays should be allowed to marry, just like everyone else.

But that 2% minority won't make me a lib.

I give a damn about gays, they have no impact on my life.

Yes danforth, racists exist. And I'm sure that Mr. Steele knows this too. (he's honest enough to admit they exist on the left, too, I'm sure) I'm sure Mr. Steel is smart enough to weigh all factors out and decide what is best for him.

You can't do that for him Danforth. Rasta, you can't do that for him, either. Nor can you, Larry. Only Mr. Steele can decide what is best for him, just as every man decides for himself.

You three obviously have the pulse of 90% of the blacks judging by the exit polls, but to presume you know what is best for the other 10% is sheer hubris. They obviously disagree with y'all. And for you to call them 'fools' or 'beyond stupid' (rasta) for doing what they feel is right for themselves is arrogant as hell.

If some dude wants to suck off another dude, that is their business...

If it rules your life, well...that is your business...

Must. Resist. Snarky. Response....

no, I set it up so you could make one and feel good about yourself. Obviously I could've set the stage where you were the inferior one, but I didn't.

So go for it Danforth, if that 'does it' for you. I don't care.

Good night. I gotta go too. Just got a page that the port forward elevator is fubar. *sigh* This means a climb down the shaft with a safety harness.

If some dude wants to suck off another dude, that is their business...

c'mon, rex. I just ate.

outta here for now.

Goatie, that is what we are talking about here now...

Two guys doing anal..and geting papers saying it's ok

I could give a shit..no pun intended...

But obviously it means something to some people..

That is why I feel the way I do.

Everyone knows there is no racism on the left -- correct?

Nobody is claiming that there isn't ANY racism on the left just that the right have been running on their Southern Strategy since LB freaking J.

Right up until Bush shitcanned McLame's hopes and dreams in 2000 with his "non-white luff child" push polls and beyond.

That RNC guy sending out CD's of Barack the Magic Negro ring any bells?

As someone sed earlier it's a calculated risk thing.

Will electing Steele as RNC Chair bring more voters in than it repels?

Considering the Rethug base it's a valid question.

Be Well.

Two guys doing anal.

Rex. Stop it.

That RNC guy sending out CD's of Barack the Magic Negro ring any bells?

it is hilarious that the Left still doesn't get why that song is funny. Hint: It has nothing to do with the fact that Obama is black (or half black).

It is funny because the term was coined by a liberal in a liberal newspaper. It shows the hypocrisy of some of on the Left. However, the fact that it was tolerated by those on the Left when put in the paper and then condemned later when those on the Right shine a light on it shows the hypocrisy of EVERYONE on the Left.

In other words, that song was made to make fun of everyone on the Left EXCEPT Obama.

elitist

~Gloat

"This word.

You keep using this word.

I don't think it means what you think it means"

~Inigo Montoya

Saying that gays who join up with the GOP are being dumb because it's the home of homophobia in American politics is NOT elitism.

Likewise saying that people of color who join the GOP are being dumb cos they are joining a party with a long and current history of racism also isn't elitism.

It's just being cognizant of history and reality.

Just a casual scan of the threads around here will tell which party is more obviously filled with racists and homophobes.

Telling a black guy not to join the Klan aint elitism either, btw.

It's just common sense.

Elitism, as Spud understands the concept, comes primarily in two distinct flavors.

Meritocracy and Entitlement.

Which is to say, there's the good type of elitism whixh is when the best and the brightest through their intelligence, aptitude and work ethic etc get ahead in society.

The other type of elitism, the kind we saw practised by Dumbya and his corrupt cronyism has to do with the sense of undeserving entitlement one has when born with the right last name or a trust fund. Wot Rogers once called "Being born of third base and acting like they just hit a triple".

The word you're most likely thinking of there isn't "elitism", more like "condesension" and even then you'd be wrong.

People on the left are allowed to voice these arguments/opinions.

You and yer kin folk on the right are entitled to yer lame-assed rebuttals.

Then gays and people of color are allowed to make up their own minds.

It's a free country.

Be Well.

/Not really here.

*yawn*

To presume to know what is best for others is putting oneself above them. That is known as being elite -- at least on this side of the border. Don't know about up there.

It's just being cognizant of history and reality.

No, it's saying, "you are too stupid to know what is best for you, so I'll tell you".

But you do that in almost every post, every day, deth. (I dare you to deny it. LOL) I see why you embrace this elitism so easily

In other words, that song was made to make fun of everyone on the Left EXCEPT Obama.

That's a stretch, Moonman.

The left are unaware of the history behind the parody?

Righties "Get" it?

O R'ly?

So that explains why Rush Limpo, the notorious racist prick played it over and over and over again, because he knows his mouth breathing audioence is really good at picking up on the nuance.

Rush?

The guy who calls Barack the "man-child" cos he knows he can't get away with calling him "boy"?

That guy?

The "Call back after you take the bone out of your nose" guy?

Yes, a writer from the LA Times coined the phrase.

That guy was also a dimbulb.

A failed hollywood writer type who tried to make a non-existent correlation between wot he percievced as an archetype in American film and Barack Obama improbability.

Essentially it questioned Obama's "realness" without offering anything substantive but similarities to various fictional characters in film.

It was a dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb article.

Rush's heavy rotation replays were even dumber.

What is really hilarious here, to Spud at least, is that the right just doesn't get why this isn't funny.

Admittedly, that's a little sad too.

Rush playing it repeatedly on top of all the rest of his racist schtick just clearly points out wot Spud been saying all along, which is that the Klan votes right and that the GOP is still a racist institute.

To be clear, Spud applauds the election of Steele to RNC Chair but anyone who thinks there isn't a element of desperation, of deliberately trying to shed an old, well deserved and shameful image of racism within the GOP in this move is an absolute idiot.

Simply put, if Barack Obama hadn't won by the margin he did with the demographics he did then this would not have happened.

Be Well.

/Sleepy now.

To presume to know what is best for others is putting oneself above them. That is known as being elite.

No, it isn't.

Maybe inside yer own head it may well be but that's about it.

No, it's saying, "you are too stupid to know what is best for you, so I'll tell you".

Putting words in other people's mouth again?

You are so full of shit.

Plus yer a hypocrite of EPIC proportions.

But man, you really can kick the shit out of a strawman like nobody else alive.

* golf clap *

That kind of "elitism" you describe is more properly descriptive of the kind of "thinking" that takes place on the right.

Women? They're too stupid to be allowed to make life and death decisions with their own bodies so we'll just decide for you.

Gays? They're too immoral to be allowed to marry so we'll decided for them that they can't.

Wars? The average citizens are to stupid to know a good war when they see one so we'll decide for them to pre-emptively launch one and then shove it down their throats.

Muslims? We've decided fer everyone that they aren't even people so we can torture them all we want.

While the left may have their nanny staters who Spud finds abhorent the deciderers on the right have a fascist bent when it comes to telling people how they should live their lives that goes well beyond patronising.

If you want to see the very embodiment of condescending, patronising, talking down to type of "elitism" you refer to see a Dumbya press conference.

Wanna see the opposite, see an Obama one.

At least you weren't stupid enuff to try and suggest that the left have "tricked" the black voters into supporting them which Spud has heard more than a few Rtards try to argue on this blog on several occasions.

Thank god fer small favors.

Be Well.

To presume to know what is best for others is putting oneself above them. That is known as being elite.

No, it isn't.

And I'm not sure why the deflections on the last 2/3 of your post, but I presume you thought it would change the meaning of 'elitism' to one you want.

Sorry. FAIL

Michael Steele would have been a better choice than McCain to run against the African Obama. Steele is a decent man and honest, something lacking in the democratic party and their african imposter of a choice for prez.

This thread is entertaining, especially when you consider the guy that came in second just quit his all white country club in September.

Sure, Steele won and I think that's great. Is it possible that this is setting up another division within the GOP?

On the sixth and final ballot Steele bested South Carolina Republican party Chairman Katon Dawson 91 to 77.

McCain picking Palin to capture the disgruntled Hillary supporters = RNC picking Steele to slow down The Messiah. One strategy has failed and the other is equally laughable.

Last November, the GOP was reduced to a tattered remnant--its core white, angry, evangelical hypocrite, racist rednecks. And now even they are going to jump ship, just like 101 just did above.

GOP---R.I.P.

The R's electing Steele is like a white person who says "some of my best friends are Black".

That is why they always revert back to denying gays the right to Marry??

They want to empower who they think deserves to be empowered and that certainly is not ALL.

Rasta - how has the GOP stopped gays from getting married? I know California voted on Prop 8, but a little group called THE PEOPLE voted and hey it takes a hell of a lot more than evil Right-wingers to get defeated that way. It wasn't even close.

This has become such an emotional issue here in Amercica. The folks across the pond - whose countries seem the ideal model for many Lefties on the DR - appear to have a much cooler-headed attitude. See the Dec 20-Jan 02 issue of The Economist for this story on page 95:

Civil Partnerships
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY
Three Years on, civil partnerships are going strong - especially among men
"...By halfway through this year, 60,000 Britons had entered a same-sex union, giving them rights virtually identical to those of married couples. In contrast to their American counterparts, most British gays seem relaxed about not having the right to call their partnership a marriage. 'It meant getting the law through sooner. Changing the wording is not really a priority' says a spokesman for Stonewall, a gay rights lobby group. And speed is not everything: Denmark was the first to country to recognise gay partnerships, in 1989, but still does not let them adopt children."

So you see? You don't need the GOP for these kinds of things to happen. They happen in Britain, where Labor has been in power for years now, as well as in Denmark, not exactly a hive of Right-wing scum and villainy. You can untwist your shorts now.

LarryMole wrote,

"It's the fucking attitude of the GOP Dumbass. They dispize Blacks and they dispize Gays and Lesbians. If they didn't then why is it they relegate them to Second Class status and all that?? Common Sense Goatman Common fucking sense."

I didn't get the memo Larry. Its seems to me that republicans just don't pander to blacks for the color of their skin and don't offer special treatment like dems. Most republicans moved beyond race a long time ago. Its dems who can't let it go. I guess if they did then blacks might leave the democrat plantation.

What's ironic is that the failed democrat welfare state is most responsible for single parent black families and being hopelessly corraled in dilapidated public housing.

What a hoax! Who better to berate, belittle and badger President Obama than another black man....doesn't seem so bad if it's coming from one of your own? I'm sure that's what the Republicans had in mind when choosing Mr. Steele....who I doubt is the best man for the job.

Buz,

I will agree that welfare programs have the problem that once you're in the system, it's hard to get back out.

I've seen it time and again. If someone tries to help themselves, the "system" then stops offering any support, therefore people oftentimes find themselves unable to break the cycle, especially if there are children involved.

But, let's not kid ourselves about WHY housing projects have an overabundance of minorities.

I'll make an analogy here.

Suppose we were running a foot race. We're all lined up and the goal is to cross the finish line.

Then everyone is told, "ok people...all women step back 30 paces...and gays step back 40 paces...and blacks step back 75 paces".

Now we're ready to run the race. Of course, if blacks don't catch up, then it's their fault.

The difference between republicans and democrats is that republicans are perpetually in denial that this inequality exists.

Granted, things have changed and minorities have more opportunties today than ever before.

But...we shouldn't pretend that we're all treated the same and the "system" treats us all equal. It still doesn't.

Sure...we all have the same opportunties. It's just that some people have to work a LOT harder to get anywhere and it's easy to be discouraged.

It's not that democrats pander to blacks. It's just that SOMEONE had to look out for the best interests of people other than the white majority, and that job ended up in the lap of the Democratic Party.

Please take a few minutes to educate yourself and read "Why Martin Luther King Jr. was a Republican" on the National Black Republican website.

Hey BJ - they still have different Tee off points in golf....

I was a wee boy when my parents split and my Mom had to go to da man to get onto the welfare...I hated it 'cause I helped out the household by shopping....Food stamps are not fun and at the age of eight I really had some serious debates with Mom...but she sat me down and taught me how a budget worked and how money was so short - she was with four kids and all. She worked her ass off, started here own local advertising business and eventually we got off the tit - five years seems to be the time if i recollect. Perhaps our case was an exception, but I feel that this program is fine and provides social nets for many....

I do know that the budget for welfare pales in comparision to other fed. mandated programs so I never really have a problem with it. But it makes good passionate debate fodder for the redemopublicancrats....

PS - don't get me started on the free school lunch program....Ketchup was veggie ya know!

Island,

The US has changed.

I mean...I voted for Reagan both of his terms.

So...what happened?

Why did the Republican Party fail?

What did they do wrong?

i whole heartedly disagree
bill that there is such rampant road blocks to anyones success.

my parents divorced when i was 3 and my mother was on welfare and guvmint cheese and the like. but we always were fed. and she taught us well, and now i earn a comfortable living because i made smart decisions, and worked very hard to pay my own way through an education.

it had zero to do with race ( yes i am a white male) and everything to do with careful planning and hard work.

I have said in earlier posts, I am definately a benefactor of taxpayer assistance during my earlier years.

Perhaps it was during that time that I heard so much calous attitudes towards welfare, and seeing how much I needed it at times, that I changed my attitudes.

You know, if everyone was highly motivated to succeed, there simply isn't enough jobs, resources and money to go around.

What else do you do for people who just can't keep jobs, and/or take care of themselves and their families?

During the last few decades, some of the things I have heard come from republicans has made my blood turn cold.

I am now a Democrat.

The fact that if EVERYONE did it there wouldn't be enough jobs to sustain it, isn't th point.

The point is anyone CAN do it if they have the desire and the work ethic. Race or sex has little to do with it. My wife grew up even more in poverty than I did. I mean it is bad. We have been married now almost 15 years and every single time I have visited my inlaws I have heard gunfire.

Yet, she did the same I did. Smart decisions and now earns a great living.

What does race have to do with that?

Why advocate punishing folks that take the time and effort to do the necessary hard work to get ahead?

Frankly, I would like to see MORE done to help people, not less.

I would like to see far more money pumped into education.

If I had my way about it, there would be college money available for anyone who wanted to attend, and apply themselves.

I don't understand what you mean about "punishing" people. Like you said, there's nothing stopping anyone from doing the "necessary hard work".

But...I've seen people who just ain't college material.

This isn't a perfect world and a one-solution-fits-all answer isn't out there.

Like I said, there's just going to be people living on taxpayer dollars, that is unless we let them starve.

Perhaps that's the answer.

You are correct Bill. But I suffered the hard work and paid every dime of my own tuition through spine crushing debt. But I did it for a long term focus.

Plenty of colleges offer scholarships and if you don't qualify you take on the debt. period. That is how it works. Why should the government take a DIME from my paycheck to give it to somebody else. I am living proof you don't need a hand out.

The folks that aren't "college material" can make a very comfortable living doing blue collar jobs. In the immortal words of Judge Smails "The world needs ditch diggers too."

"You are correct" in saying the world isn't perfect and "one size fits all"

That is.

Island,

'Why Martin Luther King Was Republican'

"In order to break the Democrats' stranglehold on the black vote and free black Americans from the Democrat Party's economic plantation, we must shed the light of truth on the Democrats. We must demonstrate that the Democrat Party policies of socialism and dependency on government handouts offer the pathway to poverty, while Republican Party principles of hard work, personal responsibility, getting a good education and ownership of homes and small businesses offer the pathway to prosperity."

Sounds great on paper.

Too bad it doesn't really work.

exactly how doesn't it work?

What part of getting educated and working hard fails to help people succeed?

What part of being goal oriented and working to achieve those goals is somehow bad and merits punishment?

I really would love to know what about these principles is a failure.

ZZZZzzzz! So what! Does this mean he will be speaking on the BET station anytime soon. The Republican party has failed the fiscially conservative americans. Until they flush the toilet of the trash they let into the party they will never regain their stature. Bringing in a minority indicates little. Press for term limits from their party, press for no lobbists and obscure campaign contributions, press for no earmarks into bills. If a politician in the Republican party crosses the line, throw them out. Lead by example then lets talk about a revived Republican Party.

It works great for many.

But it doesn't work well enough for all.

There's too many exceptions and inequalites to make such a blanket solution as "hard work and personal responsibility".

Telling people to set goals is fine.

But people who've never done these things might not even know where to start.

I certainly agree with personality responsibility. If you read my posts, you would know that.

It just has to be tempered with compassion, lest you end up using personality responsibility as simply an excuse for turning your back on people, which I suspect is the case with a lot of republicans.

agreed smarty pants. I see very little difference between the two parties anymore. Republicans have become "Diet Democrat." They no longer seem to believe in small government only smaller than what the Democrats want. SInce the Deomcrats want everything to be government regulated and controlled, the Republicans only have to come down on the side of government controlling and owning 90% of everything to appear more fiscally conservative.

Until I start hearing about Congress having to vote seperately on EVERY spending proposal so that all elected officials have an open and easily tracked voting history and ends the back door deals that run our congress now I am going to be quite upset.

Term limits and lobbyist/campaign finance reform are important, but I want to see spending regined in as outlined above first.

Right now Congressmen are blasted as "hating women" or "hating minorites" or some other nonsense just becuase they voted against a bill that happened to contain a 50,000 earmark to a womens shelter in the inner city as addendum 456. No one mentions they voted against the bill because it was a wasteful and unncessary bill that someone attached that earmark too in order to garner support....

I would love to see term limits too. There should never be a senator that serves for 30 years or more. The founding fathers envisioned a congress of elected officials that came from the private sector to work for the American People for a period of time and then went BACK to what they did before.

There's too many exceptions and inequalites to make such a blanket solution as "hard work and personal responsibility".

There are only two exceptions:

1) Mental Handicap

2) Physical Handicap.

I agree we should be taking care of those that can't help themselves. But ONLY those that can't help themselves. If you are physically and mentally able to work you should go out get a job and becoem a productive member of society. If you don't itis because you chose too and I have very little sympathy for you.

It is much like the companies asking for bailout money. It is the mess they made they need to clean it up on their own. People are no different. If you are unable to make decisions due to a physical or mental deficiency that is one thing. Anything else and you are just being lazy.

I have no problem turning my back on the lazy.

Absolutely we need to provide for those who need help through difficult times. I thought the Clinton administration did a good thing with their welfare reform. Along with financial assistance they provided child care and education/job training. They imposed a time limit which gave the recipient the incentive to set goals and achieve self sufficiency. This policy resulted in a significant drop in welfare recipients.

Of course there are a slew of contributing factors but if I had to pick one place to start to change things it would be with the public education monopoly. There is no excuse for imprisoning the whole population and after 13 years, spitting them out into the cruel world with absolutely no skills to support themselves. Even college bound 18 year olds should have a vocation so they can work their way through college if necessary. If every "inner city" kid left high school with the ability to support themselves it would be THE incentive to stay in school. I don't care if it is IT work, cake decorating, plumbing, drywalling, landscaping, or diesel mechanics. Nothing feels better than earning your own money and spending it how you choose. Every 18 year old wants control of his/her own life. For all the money and years the public school system has to do the job of educating, there is NO EXCUSE for such a vacuous outcome.

The NBRA site and President Obama have some good reasons why specifically black families are having difficulties climbing out of poverty...the stats on single parent families are very compelling.
