Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

Barack Obama takes office today with a realistic prospect of joining the ranks of history's most powerful presidents. "The opportunity is there for Obama to recast the very nature of the presidency," said Sean Wilentz, a presidential historian at Princeton. "Not since Reagan have we had as capable a persuader as Obama, and not since FDR has a president come in with quite the configuration of foreign and domestic crises that open up such a possibility for the reconstruction of the executive."

This is why the Obama worship is so horrifying. How can we possibly have critical analysis of his decision making when everyone is slipping on their puddles of drool?

one day people will realize he is just a lowly human being like the rest of u.s.

Well, the economy sucks ass, for starters. That'll at least give him a watchful eye from the likes of me, and I've always admired and supported the guy. I've figured over the past year he's had plenty enough support, though, so I've been able to withdraw and just watch him make it happen.
Running a successful campaign is not the same as running a successful country, though, and with the country poised for a long-term economic downshift... I lost my train of thought, gotta watch the swearing in via foreign news coverage (less salivating and more interesting commentary).

Nanc, do you think?

Hell, they are still in love with Carter who was the worst president in my lifetime.

"one day people will realize he is just a lowly human being like the rest of u.s."

Well, Nanc...you're half right.

"Carter who was the worst president in my lifetime."

You've been dead the last 8 years?!?

My lifetime only includes Reagan and W, but that's 15 years of shit.

so danforth - are you glued to the tele?

Just now turned it on. Heck of a scene.

The vast majority of us already know that Barack Hussein Obama is nothing more than a singular human being. The difference is that Obama understood most clearly that he cannot achieve anything without the cooperation and investment of "We the People" who currently fill our nation's capitol and the millions upon millions of fellow citizens watching and listening intently as his legacy as the leader of this country will shortly begin.

We are the change we've been searching for, and it will be us that make this new era a success or it will be us who fail to rise to the challenges we currently face and those yet to come. All Obama can do is steer the ship of state toward more calm and less restless waters, but it is us who provide the power, not him.

If Obama does prove himself to be a savior for this nation it will only be for the sake of leading us to be the nation that has always been within our capacity to be.

Today isn't about any cult of personality toward Obama. Its about the restoration of the cornerstone of this nation's existence: hope of a better future through hard word and sacrifice, and the restoration of America as a unique place where anything which people may dream can indeed become possible if we join together and work to overcome obstacles instead of standing apart, stagnated, and assigning blame.

tony - wait until they find the emperor has no clothes.

danforth - yes, i've tuned in to "little house on the prairie"...hehehe...

Well, I've had enough of the bitter whining of the Bush apologists. Have a happy life, you all.

workers in my office had the inauguration playing on their computers.
I just made them all shut it off.

I am going out on the ledge now. I am 41 floors up.

Many of you will encourage me to jump.

That's fine. Just don't overdo it.

I am not sure how serious I actually am about leaping.

Don't jump, DramaQueen FraidyCunt!!!!

You might hurt someone below you ledge.

Go back in and have your co-workers beat you to death with your office furniture. Slowly...

nice thought.. but it relies on the single belief that people in this country land of the free-handouts home of the self indulgent are going to actually sacrifice ANYTHING! That is a fantasy. Sacrifice only occurs when forced in this country.

As I stated 3 months ago .. the economy is in serious trouble.. more than the normal American with no understanding of credit markets or monetary policy understand. Europe and the US is on the precipice and may fall into the abyss of Depression II before long. We don't emerge from this funk in 2009 just call it what it is.. GD2(great depression 2)

things working against us

1- layoffs will increase in the next 6 months
2- corp profits will fall massively
3- consumer spending will falter
4- commercial real estate will collapse
5- lending will still remain frozen
6- deflation will magnify the above issues
7- the dollar will strengthen as other currencies collapse
8- commodity's will collapse
9- Stock market will continue to drop
DOW 5800, NAS 1150, S&P 640

I give the honeymoon until May..

I hope he can do something.. but like they say
"Hope in one hand.. shit in the other and see which fills up first"

I give the honeymoon until May..

That long, I don't think he can finish January...

Amazing how my friends on the right have all of the sudden decided to place some form of expectation on the office of president.

That attitude seems to have been noticably lacking in the past few years.

There is one major difference between Obama and every other candidate. He made his way himself, without daddys money or his name but despite them.

My only fear for him is that he is going to step on some powerful toes with his talk of stopping government and business corruption. You know, the things that Bush and cheney encouraged.

What a difference 4 years makes:

Headlines On This Date 4 Years Ago:

"Republicans spending $42 million on inauguration while troops Die in
unarmored Humvees"

"Bush extravagance exceeds any reason during tough economic times"

"Fat cats get their $42 million inauguration party, Ordinary
Americans get the shaft"
Headlines Today:

"Historic Obama Inauguration will cost only $120 million"

"Obama Spends $120 million on inauguration; America Needs A Big Party"

"Everyman Obama shows America how to celebrate"

"Citibank executives contribute $8 million to Obama Inauguration"

Already the world is a better place

This is why the Obama worship is so horrifying. How can we possibly have critical analysis of his decision making when everyone is slipping on their puddles of drool?

He gets to go on about a new "era of responsibility" while picking a tax evader to head the treasury. I guess we'll see how much he can get away with after the party's over.

Funny, isn't it.

You mean like Bill Clinton and almost every candidate since the countries inception?

If you researched the other 43 presidents you would find only a handful that had daddies money or his name..

John Quincy Adams although he had his daddies name was an exceptional president at difficult time..

FDR although he was a Roosevelt put service in front of a comfy life he already had. In fact his momma thought the presidency would be beneath the family name and public service was for commoners..

Its always easier to speak in generalities instead specifics to puff up a position or inflate the ego.

Like I said I give the honeymoon 100 days.. the problems are real and non partisan.

The Curse of Tippecanoe has been broken my Bush. Reagan actually broke it but unlike Reagan, Bush never got shot.

I am looking forward to seeing what Obama can do. Gobama!

In his speech about we will not falter but will stop all attacks against us , I felt as if he was talking about the American People. I think Mexico may be his downfall, That is turning into a real civil war and most of the enemy are amongst us.

"Obama's been President for 24 hours and nothing's changed. He's a failure."

--Fox News and the Religious Right

YEAH RIGHT

he happens to be president when the economy is all set to cycle back into the clinton land of honey,....
what a nice opporotunity....

OOPS>..wait...the clintion land of honey...THATS a whole nother thread....HEE HEE
