The Obama political machine is merging with the Democratic National Committee. The President-elect relaunched his campaign organization as Organizing for America this morning. "As President, I will need the help of all Americans to meet the challenges that lie ahead," he said in a YouTube video sent to supporters of his campaign. "That's why I'm asking people like you who fought for change during the campaign to continue fighting for change in your communities.

I have sent comments on Obama's inauguration to a daily paper. My two cents in it includes: "Liberals are in for an unpleasant surprise if they think they have Obama in their pockets; and conservatives are in for a bit of pleasant surprise if they think Obama is a lost cause. Because Obama is going to lead from the middle."

Because Obama is going to lead from the middle."

The key word is "lead".

Something the Bushling could never comprehend.

BO is so naive. Everything he dismantles will open the US to more attacks.

I'm getting tired of this guy's face already and he's not even president yet.

Because Obama is going to lead from the middle."

Takitez would be completely wrong. He's a puppet for the banker-industrialist cabal. He will do anything, repeat, anything to protect their interests.

4 years and out!

obama is nothing but an elitest masked under a good campaign show but beholden to the rich elite.

Ray,

Hard to believe but it looks like we are in agreement!

Money

I've been a defender of free market capitalism, not fascist capitalism. To the uninitiated, they appear the same. But in practice the two systems could not be more opposite.

I strongly recommend you read those two links I provided on Argentina on the other thread. You need to prepare for that outcome while there is time.

Sounds like he is geting the Brown Shirts mobilized.

"Sounds like he is geting the Brown Shirts mobilized."

Hey, Mr. Kotter, one more candidate for taking "History: The Most Basic of the Basics" next summer!

Hey Doc,

Cabo Cohonitos is too stupid to get your reference. 'History' to him is what he find in his underpants after sobering up from a bender.

I take your point, Axe.

I hope Obama brings back the draft. It could make men out of some of the lib pussies on DR.

"I hope Obama brings back the draft. It could make men out of some of the lib pussies on DR."

Not to mention these pussies.

Thanks for that perfect set-up, fwthom.

Hans, I think one of those graves had your name on it or maybe it was the name of the guy who took your place while you were hiding.

"I think one of those graves had your name ..."

You watched. Good.

"...while you were hiding."

Hiding? Selective Service knew exactly where to find me.

Hans

Hans, I heard that you, RCADE, and WISEASS did good on the radio. Maybe you guys can get a job at Air America. They have plenty of openings.

Will they have to wear brown shirts too?

Talking about the holes in yer head again, FuckWit?

On Topic?

The POTUS who started out as a grass roots community organiser now is encouraging people to "fight for change" on a local level by organising?

No surprises there.

Makes nothing but sense to Spud.

Also, it sounds a heckuva lot like JFK's famous exhortation to "ask not wot yer country can do fer you..." thingy which was some damn fine rhetoric in Spud's opinion.

Also on the "wot's not too like about this guy" list is a promise by Obama to run the most open and tranparent WH EVAR. He'll start by having an open house, literally, on Jan 21, which is a good sign.

Will Obama's call for people to make real change happen have any takers?

Well, his inspirational leadership to date has garnered him an impressive record breaking 300,000 plus resumes of people eager to work with him in DC to do just that.

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Just weeks after opening shop, the Obama transition team has been flooded by what looks like an unprecedented wave of hundreds of thousands of resumes from people who want positions in the new president's administration.

Hundreds of thousands of applicants want to work for President-elect Barack Obama.

"We've actually had more than 300,000 expressions of interest," Obama transition spokesman Nick Shapiro told CNN Radio.

That is roughly equivalent to the entire population of Iceland.

It dwarfs the 44,000 applicants reported by a Bush transition spokeswoman to the San Francisco Chronicle just days before George W. Bush was inaugurated in January 2001. The Clinton transition team in 1993 put its number of applicants near Inauguration Day at approximately 100,000. And the Obama boom has another month to build.

So in short, yeah, he has a real chance to help make much needed changes here.

Be Well.

1st Session

H. J. RES. 5

Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States to repeal the twenty-second article of amendment, thereby removing the limitation on the number of terms an individual may serve as President.

IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

January 6, 2009

Mr. SERRANO introduced the following joint resolution; which was referred to the Committee on the Judiciary

JOINT RESOLUTION

Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States to repeal the twenty-second article of amendment, thereby removing the limitation on the number of terms an individual may serve as President.

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled (two-thirds of each House concurring therein), That the following article is proposed as an amendment to the Constitution of the United States, which shall be valid to all intents and purposes as part of the Constitution when ratified by the legislatures of three-fourths of the several States within seven years after the date of its submission for ratification:

Article--

The twenty-second article of amendment to the Constitution of the United States is hereby repealed.'.

"Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States to repeal the twenty-second article of amendment, thereby removing the limitation on the number of terms an individual may serve as President."

1. 22nd amendment proposed by Republicans to restrict any further FDRs...; and, ironically,

2. Repeal of which was contemplated in the second terms of Eisenhower, Nixon, Reagan and Bush 43.

A classic case of unintended consequences.

Nice try, kbm.

Who would know?

deathspud, maybe that has to do with the record unemployment numbers. or maybe they are just looking for change, or a mortgage payoff, or some free heath care, (don't we already have medicare, and it sucks? doesn't everything gov't touches eventually suck?). perhaps some other personal motives are involved. I doubt any were considered for SoS, Tres Sec, his senate seat, Sec Def or the like. so...a million applications to be his secretary or intern? who cares? perhaps he put William in charge of filling those positions.

p.s. love how you speak of yourself in 3rd person. edb thinks it funny.

obama youth armbands are for sale now at www.obamasnazis.org

get yours so you can help 'organize' the populace. scary. I just hope he doesn't couple this with conscription. you do know national service is a very european vogue thing. & so many of u.s. believe the Euros have it together... how many tards under 28 registered to vote for the first time, & did (congrats! you put your ballot where your mouth is. you're a real American now!) but never bothered to fill out a selective service form. if they dodge BHO's initiatives they should be rounded up & gassed! damned draft dodgers.

ok, meds wore off. sleeeeep. the DR's can't get you while you sleeeeeep.

If all these people send in a dollar each, our new Treasury Secretary won't have to pay any taxes the rest of his life.

And Tacky receives the "Duh" of the Day Award.

Guess what - no liberals think they have Obama in their pocket. Of course he's going to lead from the center. He has said all along he wanted to be the President of all the people - no more red or blue. And many of the choices he's made have indicated he's trying to do just that.

I'll bet your daily paper is stunned by your insight.

I hear EDB and RisR are putting together their own video "Fisting for America". A poignant message for all right wing closet Gay S&M patriots to get America into the right gi track.

Mr. I Don' Know Much 'Bout History Or Anythin' Else strikes again!

Never misunderestimate the power of a community orgainizer in chief.

Why in the world is "organizing" suddenly akin to fascism? I'd love to see this argument presented in some logical fashion.

What the heck would be wrong with getting people to _act_ rather than to just rant and rave (like people do on, oh, this site)? Why is voting for the person who moves you such a bad thing? If McCain had won, do we think all the libs (you know, since we all act in such monolothic ways) would be jumping to bash him as soon as he spoke out on an inititiative that actually feels new? Christ, give the guy a chance, willya? I wasn't happy when Bush was elected (twice), but I didn't leap on to the Internet to start ranting about how stupid and vile and fascistic he was. And I see more fascism in the Bush administration's behavior, starting with pushing through the PATRIOT Act, with the approval of a lapdog congress, than in anything Obama has said or done. Yes, leftwing, if you go far enough, can lead to communism (which isn't a bad theory, but that's another argument), but hey, weird--if you go far enough right, you get to totalitarianism, which is how the fascistic states of the twentieth century practiced their fascism. Maybe we ain't talkin' a line here, but a circle... Imagine. People can't be categorized simply in terms of black and white, right and left, liberal and conservative. I am frightened that for some of you this is a brand-new idea.

Brown Shirts for Obama

Thanks, Cabo. Repetition=discussion. Very helpful.

PRAGMADICK,

Did you write text books? Your shit is boring. DR is the WWF, so either start body slamming someone or be prepared to be thrown across the ring.

Ooooooh, a tough guy! Clear the decks!

way to debate on topic furio. you're so enlightening.

his youth group during the campaign WAS called Obama Youth at one point... get um working for you while they're young. sounds like someone else I've read about. I'm not saying he's a nazi, it just smells like the same tactic.

right-wing fanatics didn't produce the only totalitatian/authoritarian government types during the 20th century. the USSR & affiliates had more than their share.

perhaps I'd feel more comfortable if he would define 'change'.
