Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs
Monday, January 12, 2009

Meteor Blades, Daily Kos: Slightly less than 3 million net jobs were created during President Bush's eight years in office. That's 375,000 jobs a year, the most pitiful record since 1939 when the Bureau of Labor Statistics started collecting the numbers. Not just the worst record ever, mind you. But far worse. During Dwight Eisenhower's two terms, only 438,000 jobs were generated annually. But the population was half what it is now. During Bill Clinton's two terms, 2.9 million jobs were generated each year.

No, no, no!

Being the dumbass loser he is, he thought they said "job DETERIORATION", and at that, he did very well.

Noun verb 9/11.

That MAY have affected it...

How long you gonna ride that excuse?

According to DICK he has nothing to apologize for.

No fact ever got in the way of Shrub making the decision his gut told him to make.

I disagree. He created great job opportunities for Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton et al.

Hmm... since Bush became President I have bought two condos, one timeshare, and consistently increased my earnings.

Millions of Chinese folks are very grateful for their new jobs.

timbci did you find a lady yet though? I heard times were tough in the dating market.

Will you guys be able to get over it by January 20th?

Naw...... That didn't affect the economy at all. You have to quit saying that little incident even happened.

Rasta Why would I be looking for a lady. I have a family. I am married with two kids.

Tim I can prove otherwise, shall I?

I got a SEcret

Noun verb 9/11.
That MAY have affected it...

Actually that was a job creation opportunity... and Bush started a war on terriers but nobody showed up.

So was Hurricane Katrina.... but the Republiconfabulators just saw that as an opportunity to point out how dirty poor people are.

Bushling was/is just out of touch... like his mumsy and daddykins.

"Rasta Why would I be looking for a lady. I have a family. I am married with two kids."

That's a disturbing thought.

Really last time I checked I was married. Perhaps you want to call me wife and tell her I am looking for women. Her number is (212_449-7605

So your wife isn't living with you in Chicago? Or did you forget where you live again this week?

It is either that or the Bush administration actually started on September 12, 2001.

Nope my wife is indeed in Ny until the end of the school year

Could have something to do with this?

Well you might be married but I certainly hope that isn't your real Ph# otherwise you may end up in trouble.

Bush was the worst job creation president? Ever? For ever-ever?

Too bad Bush didn't see fit to insert a little creationism into the economy. Most of it is a fragile house of cards based largely on faith, anyway. How about an intelligently designed regulatory agency at least?

Oh crap looks like Ron's link has exposed timbci

Call the number. Ask for My wife. She will kick your ass

The rich got richer and the poor got poorer.

/At least until the mega bubble burst and now only the hyper rich as a rule can be sed to have benefitted from Dumbya's reign of errors.

The upword flight of capitol from the lower and middle classes to the upper echelon of 5%ers has been a dizzying and sobering experience fer those who observed it w/o blinking.

Bush and his cronies have proven themselves to be as incompetent as they are corrupt. Unabashed classists whose anti-democratic tendencies have made great strides in turning the US into a neo-fuedalistic society.

American economic hegemony, in place since before the second world war, is now imperilled and America's very survival as a democracy is on the line

But you got yers, eh, Timbecile, and that makes it alright, presumably?

Wotta loser.

Be Well.

Great asshole so you went to a website and made something up. Real original

Yes I got mine so it makes it alright.

Lots and lots of manufacturing jobs went to Mexico, China, India and everywhere else but the US under Bush.

Lots of Mexican immigration filled all the labor Jobs under Bush.

LOL! Whats left? High end jobs, Medical and licensed jobs. Not much else.

WTF are our HS and college graduates going to do?

That quickly?

All I did was Google your username.

What is the average inflation adjusted pay of those jobs?

I would bet that Bush's record is even worse, as a lot of those jobs are probably minimum wage, or close.

That's a disturbing thought

~Danni

Hopefully his wife cheated on him and those aren't his real bio-kids.

/We can but hope.

Personally, Spud don't believe a word Timbecile says, nobody as unabashedly ignorant as THAT could possibly tie their own shoes by themselves and make it across a busy street unassisted much less do as well as he likes to make out.

Spud calls shenanigans on that action.

Be Well.

It's just like the early 1900's. The rich own all the wealth. The general population are the serf's. Republicans have always subscribed to that philosophy. Neo-Cons ain't really new.

Timby is a legend in his own mindset.

A legend that lasts a lunchtime.

So.... Time for nursing school.
Someone has to wipe all these geriatric retiree's tails.

What's with the need to fill anything in between "Worst" and "President"?

Worst Fiscal fail, worst national security president ever, Biggest fail at protecting the homeland ever, worst Comander-in-Chief ever, worst president at not being led around by the mad ayatollahs ever(and I thought no one would beat Reagan at that). Worst at keeping Kim from Building a Nuke Ever.

Cabo-
You were movin' kinda slow, what with all of your chit-chat and coffee breaks.

Unless you work for the Post Office or some other govt. bureaucratic agency, what "jobs" does a president really create?

The largest of all corporations...by a long shot...that produces no marketable product???
Answer: The U.S. government!

How does it pay its employees who produce nothing?
Answer: By taking it away from those who do.

Which is more likely to be demonized by a stupid public, Wal-Mart or the government?
Answer: Wal-Mart.

When is the day Wal-Mart may catch a break from a stupid public?
Answer: The day it's controlled by govt. backed unions, at which point Wal-Mart will become a wonderfully reputable and profitable enterprise like General Motors!

Screw your country! Vote for the one who will get you a government job!

Vote for the union label
When you are crying and bitching all day.
Remember somewhere our union's whining, like you they want to throw our good country away! We work hard at always complaining cuz free healthcare is our birth right hey hey! So always vote for that union label becuz the govment really knows how to pay!

I was a firefighter for 30 years.

Boyd fishing for personal info? Weren't you the drama queen crying because Mao mentioned that you lived in Lubbock Texas? Info that you volunteered by the way.

That would be about par for the course.

Good for you and us! That's much more than I expected. Were you injured or did you just cash out?

The one bs?

Boyd,
You were the one crying to Pinche about "outing" your residence in Lubbock, right? Something about it being creepy, and something about stalking, right?
Yet here you are pestering others for personal info. Do you find that strange Barney?

(Now pretend I posted a series of one line questions badgering you over this ridiculous fact)

So on a off the wall tangent.

My future brother in law (possibly..) he is an interesting guy.
He is the kind of guy that eventually i am sure will be in a cabin in montana surrounded by the BATF and FBI HRT.

Well at lunch sunday, he laid out his grand plan to no longer pay Federal Income Tax.

He says, that according to the Tax code, that the W2 you get from your employer is "Legal Testimony" that you are a government employee and thus subject to Federal Income Tax. Then, if you "Dispute" your W2 before April 15th. You are OFF THE HOOK for the previous years tax.

It was all i could do to not laugh at the guy.

:)

I find you strange, 101.

When UNIONS were large AMERICA was GREAT!

Now America is at a low point and Unions membership are at an all time low.

DO YOU SEE A CAUSE AND EFFECT HERE YET?!?

When you take care of the people who actually WORK for a living you ARE making america great!

When you try to make the rich get richer and hope for trickle down all you will get is a failed economy.

The sad thing is basicly he is a decent guy. but he is just terribly misguided. Its my wifes sisters bf, so i have alot less leverage there =

But yeah, he is cruisin for an audit.
The only thing he has going for him is for the most part he doesnt make enough money to worry about too much in the way of taxes. so when the bill shows up its going to be relatively small.

say compared to Wesly Snipes..

Barney,
Nobody crawls away from you, they run away. Your pointless questions and badgering are your MO here. If you haven't noticed, nobody plays with you because you're an estrogen filled pud that posts questions, doesn't answer any, and then hides when beaten (which is always).

The fact you even posted #78 shows you are completely lacking self awareness.

101Chairborne at 2009-01-09 02:34 PM |

But that wasn't as quite as good as your belief that the Palestinians are only good for "target practice" in a week that saw several hundred women and children blown to bits.

(Perhaps you'd like to make some more rude comments about my family, 101, as I have never done about yours)

You're such a fem that I tend to believe you're a spoof.

"During Bill Clinton's two terms, 2.9 million jobs were generated each year"

Yes, McDonalds, Hardees, Burgerking, and Walmart had a field day hiring employees at $5.25 an hour.

Please cite any reference I have ever made to your family or your location, dickwad; add them up. Divide the number of references you have made by that number.

What, even you can't divide by zero?

Or you could say under the republican controlled congress millions of jobs were created but under the new management(democrat congress) not only did we lose jobs but they destroyed the economy(see Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac).

Don't worry little democrats your failure I mean savior Barack will be president soon and you can spend all your time here explaining why his policies don't work or still blaming Bush whichever gets you through the day.

Under what circumstances aside from martial law would Republicans claim any responsibility for anything at all?

A government employee? I bet you're leaching off the taxpayers with a good pension, too.

Betelg wrote,

"Under what circumstances aside from martial law would Republicans claim any responsibility for anything at all?"

Well I know we claim responsibility for the tax cuts of the 1980's that have spurred the incredible economic expansion since then. I know the economy was very good under the republicans for the 12 years we had control of the house(where all spending originates). However, since the democrats took control in 2006 everything has went to shit. I'll let you democrats take credit for the mess you created in the last 2 years.

Written by Meteor Blades? Who?

These are misleading BS numbers. To pretend that we, or a president, actually have control over organic job creation is laughable. Did we count how many jobs are lost from technological advances, computers, software, etc.? This is just a small snippit from a huge, lengthy uncontrollable trend. BTW, the jobs that are lost sucked anyway, why would we even want them? The competition for viable work gets tougher every day, which is just the direction it's always been going in this country. Get thinking, trying, winning, losing, and learning, or or get poor and eat cat food, your choice.

At least we know the Obama machine will be cranking out tons of new jobs which will be directly or indirectly for the Gov't and the media will be right there to slap him on the back for his success.

Will you guys be able to get over it by January 20th?

So, ng3, do you consider all government employees as worthless leaches who contribute nothing to the common good?

The tax cuts of the 1980's, combined with the HUGE deficits REAGAN created put the economy in a tailspin!

Guess you FORGOT about the Stock market crash in 1987? The recession of the early 1990's that Clinton got us out of?!?

Very funny how you wingnuts rewrite history to your political advantage! Helps you create confusion so you can avoid responsibility for your FAILED economic policies.

Guess you haven't HEARD yet BUZZ but the REAGAN REVOLUTION is DEAD!! Milton Freidman is now exposed for the FRAUD he was. Supply side and trickle down failed miserably. Perhaps you were too buzzed to notice?

also only president to deal with a wrecked economy because of a massive attack on our shores in the heart of the financial brain of the country
ah but who cares about any of those facts or that the economy hummed along after a "Robust recovery" from that knock out punch

but again...who cares about any of those facts when the "MESSIAH" is about to be "REPORTING FOR DUTY"

"The rich got richer and the poor got poorer"

PERSONAL decision making means more to the average family than any Washington policy or job creation or lack thereof or anything that happens in the economy outside of the home. With 2 small children grocery prices & gas hit us hardest but you know what? We cut back on extras, traveled to see my neices & nephews less (150 mi roundtrip) & sent more e-mails to stay in touch. We changed our cable plan, (which is a luxury we allow ourselves) & gave up some things, packed lunches more instead of eating out, stuff like that. When I look back to my 20's & some of the decisions I made with money, it would really be nice to blame someone else but I only have to look as far as the mirror. Lots of "poor" people have things that aren't needs although they consider them such & they need to get their priorities straight. Blaming the rich isn't going to change the fact that some people are just living above their means. There is good & bad in everyone but this constant demonizing the rich & victimizing the poor is bullshit.

"Very funny how you wingnuts rewrite history to your political advantage!"

It's very dishonest to act like THAT doesn't come from both sides.

Been there, done that. When I got laid off from a $77k/yr job, I baked bread for three years for not much more than minimum wage. However, I was not in debt as I've always been freaked out by it my whole life, so it was easier. But what few luxuries I had before, I dropped. I stopped my book of the month club, got the cheapest i'net service, drove less, walked more, ate more rice and beans, etc.

One of the bakers I worked with during that time was up to his eyeballs in debt. I couldn't believe that he had a 54" TV, new car and other luxuries that I wouldn't own when I made $77k!

People are responsible for their own situations. If they live on the edge the entire time when times are good, they'll undoubtedly go over the edge when times get tough. The lesson is -- always live within your means. Stay out of debt. Save 10% of every paycheck no matter how poor you are.

It works.

You are correct gotman. We all make choices in life and then we have to live with them. How many men do you know living from paycheck to paycheck sitting in the bar every night drinking and bitching about how broke they are? I know a bunch.

How many men do you know living from paycheck to paycheck sitting in the bar every night drinking and bitching about how broke they are?

Or waste their money on lottery tickets? Judging by the way people are dressed and the cars they drive, it seems it is the lower income people who do this. If they just banked that money instead of wasting it on something that has a 50% payoff rate (read, on the average lose half of what you put into it) they would be a lot richer. This one is pretty much a no brainer, but you see hundreds of losers suckered into these state sponsored games.

I was sickened once when I saw a woman come into a convenience store to buy some milk, tons of Ramen noodles (which I presume were for her kids who were waiting in the car) and lottery tickets. The cashier rang up the sale. She was short by a couple of bucks. She went to put the milk back. I felt so bad for the kids, I pulled a fiver out and paid for the milk. But I was pissed as hell that she thought more of the lottery than her own kids' health.

I had a friend who worked part time at a convenience store & she said she often felt like she was catering to the worst in society. Beer, cigarettes & lottery tickets. I have another friend who is the manager here at the local Wal-Mart and they have to put extra people on the floor for the first of the month & what she calls the "food-stamp run" & these people literally have 5 kids and are buying steaks & shrimp on the taxpayers dime. How many kids say under 5 eat that much steak & shrimp really. I'm not begruding anyone a good meal but when the cart is equally full of microwave crap sold for kids you gotta wonder who that's for. She said she really gets pissed when the cashiers have to do 2 transactions, 1 for the food & 1 more for the beer & cigarettes & stuff like that that they seem to have money for! There are multiple ironies there. We worry about the obesity epidemic in America's children & we're footing the bill for them getting fat because their parents are too lazy to cook for them! Meanwhile I'm a single mom working 2 jobs making "too much money" stretching every dollar. I'm a little bitter about this one but I am honest with the fact that my situation is my own & I own up to it. I could never hold my tongue in that situation & would be looking for a job quick.

question was asked what would you like to hear prez bush say during thur speech--welll duhhh the truth --i'm the dumbest asshole to be prez yet --born an asshole will always be one --asshole is as asshole does

Axe. Sounds to me you are a racist.
I guess you are bitter because while you live in squallor so many people have left you behind.

One month after the worst attack in U.S. history, George W. Bush watched a 100-minute long Anthony Hopkins film called Hearts in Atlantis.

It is an awful movie, and as it drags on I feel increasingly uneasy. Surely the president should be doing something else. Occasionally he gets a phone call from Andy Card, his chief of staff, who, as I understand it, is in the West Wing meeting with the head of the F.A.A. to determine when Washington's Reagan National Airport will be safe to completely re-open (some flights began operating earlier in the week). Each time the phone rings, I hope the president will excuse himself to join them. But he doesn't. Over the phone, the president tells the men to "get that airport opened up!" and then heads to bed.

That night I leave the White House feeling more anxious about our national security than when I arrived.

excerpted from Brian Smith at HuffPost

Nutcase,

You're really stretching with that HuffPost quote. I would think the President could unwind and watch a movie after working hours.

Yeech

We should be grateful for how good our economy is.

Malls and restaurants were packed around Christmas here, the poor people I've sat next to on the bus (through a fairly bad part of town) have some pretty nice cell phones.

Look at what people live on in Mexico, India and compare what it's like here.

Ask yourself, are you better financially 8 years later.

I sure am. I had just got married the week of President Bush's election 8 years ago.

I'm not rich by any means, but our country has INCREDIBLE wealth and opportunity.

Malls and restaurants were packed around Christmas here, the poor people I've sat next to on the bus (through a fairly bad part of town) have some pretty nice cell phones.

Now come on that's just mean. They deserve a nice cell phone just like everyone else because heaven forbid we aren't fair! The very least we can do is pay their living expenses so they can afford this "need" in their lives. You wouldn't want to come between them and their dealer would you?

"I'm not rich by any means, but our country has INCREDIBLE wealth and opportunity."

It did, at one time. And for a long time. That time has already started to pass us by. With each passing day we become more of a service economy. There isn't very much wealth in that.

I think we will soon become a nation of people who must live within their means. Or I should say that would be our best chance of survival. However, living within your means does not offer much opportunity to become wealthy or even to greatly enhance your financial status. It's nice to save all the money you can. However, most people couldn't possibly save enough to significantly improve their financial status. To do so requires significant financial improvement. Which comes almost exclusively from taking chances. Like the old saying that you have to spend money to make money. And then we'd be back to our old cycle.
