Go placidly
Amid the noise and waste.
And remember what comfort there may be
In owning a piece thereof.
Avoid quiet and passive persons
Unless you are in need of sleep.
Rotate your tires.
Speak glowingly of those greater than yourself
And heed well their advice,
Even though they be turkeys.
Know what to kiss.....and when!
Consider that two wrongs never make a right
But that THREE.........do.
Wherever possible, put people on hold.
Be comforted that in the face of all aridity and disillusionment
And despite the changing fortunes of time,
There is always a big future in computer main-te-nance.
You are a fluke
Of the universe.
You have no right to be here.
And whether you can hear it or not
The universe is laughing behind your back.
Remember the Pueblo.
Strive at all times to bend, fold, spindle and mu-ti-late.
Know yourself.
If you need help, call the FBI.
Exercise caution in your daily affairs,
Especially with those persons closest to you.
That lemon on your left, for instance.
Be assured that a walk through the ocean of most souls
Would scarcely get your feet wet.
Fall not in love therefore;
It will stick to your face.
Gracefully surrender the things of youth:
The birds, clean air, tuna, Taiwan
And let not the sands of time
Get in your lunch.
Hire people with hooks.
For a good time call 606-4311;
Ask for "Ken."
Take heart amid the deepening gloom
That your dog is finally getting enough cheese.
And reflect that whatever misfortune may be your lot
It could only be worse in Milwaukee.
Therefore, make peace with your god
Whatever you conceive him to be---
Hairy thunderer, or cosmic muffin.
With all its hopes, dreams, promises and urban renewal
The world continues to deteriorate.
GIVE UP!

Anatomy of a Liar

I always find it interesting when the Drudge's own advocate for "truth" (as he sees it) is caught in his own lies. Oh, he denies it, of course, claiming he is "fickle." Okay, let's look at this latest example from Mr. Fickle.

On the Monday, 01/05 Franken Declares Victory thread, in a solemn and oh-so-important post, Mr. Fickle declares:

There is a very important lesson to be learned: EVERY VOTE COUNTS! Please, don't anyone ever miss an election. It could be your vote that puts your candidate into office. Don't sit at home and tell yourself that your vote doesn't count.

#202 | Posted by goatman at 2009-01-05 07:21 PM

Now, when it was pointed out that Mr. Fickle volunteered that he didn't vote in the March 4, 2008 primary election in Texas ("I'm offshore. Didn't vote"), the spinning began:
I thought I was going to be onshore during election day. But I had to work over a week for someone. I did not know that until my hitch started. Therefore, not being a Nostradamus, I did not vote absentee.

#213 | Posted by goatman at 2009-01-05 08:52 PM

And ...
I'm an awful american for missing a vote due to something beyond my control.

#225 | Posted by goatman at 2009-01-05 09:15 PM

I like that "excuse," "something beyond my control".

Oops:

Yep. I admitted it several times in this forum that I planned to give these primaries a miss since I had no interest in any of the candidates.

Posted by goatman at 2008-03-04 04:14 PM

Planning on missing a vote is "missing a vote due to something beyond my control"? Cute.

And, finally, from the "If you always tell the truth you never have to remember what you said" category, there's this:

BTW, I mentioned this back then, but I notice that you disingenuously did not post that link off your harddrive archives.

#222 | Posted by goatman at 2009-01-05 09:07 PM

Oops.

Actually, "back then" Mr. Fickle "planned to give these primaries a miss." Didn't see anything on that thread about missing the vote due to "something beyond my control."

Get a life -- I mean one that includes honesty, please?
Indeed.

Hans

Congress says they're looking into the Bernie Madoff scandal.

DITTO

but I will go one better

NOTE TO HANS

GET LAID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think I need a drudge vacation. Yesterday I was in one of those big box supermarkets and this middle-aged staff woman was using a helium balloon with tape on it to capture a couple of bigger mylar balloons up in the rafters. My first thought was, "If BLT were here, he'd offer to shoot them down for her."

and last nights daily show

dana perino

DAMN IT TO HELL>...is she cute....and stewart just about wet on himslef with her even though he tried to provoke her........

but DAMNIT >>IS SHE CUTE>....( did I already say that)

and he also talked about the power lunch in the white house and he played some audio...at least he said it was from the audio

clinton pointed down to "W" and said

'I really like this rug" and then of course stewart gave the old sheepish grin looking downward

I bet he does like that rug....

or I would have brought them down with my power of mind over matter

wha???

seriously bro

I HAVE NEVER THOUGHT OF you outside of the retort
is there a professional you can see about this????

Re: the lunch. Poor old Herbie looked like he was drinking vinegar, sitting there realizing there'll never be another Bush in the WH.

Seems like more time went into post #2 then the argument is worth.

Jesus christ Hans. You are a fucking loser.

Hans can dig up shit that was posted 5 years ago. Considering I was a raging drunk then, I probably posted stuff I don't recall. Best to leave sleeping dogs lie.

Hey Rusty, you're coming out Jan. 20th right?

At first glance, the town of Edwardsville, Ala., with a population of 194 people, might raise a few eyebrows with its bid to receive $375 million from the economic stimulus package being assembled by Barack Obama and lawmakers in Congress.

I'm betting they voted heavily for McToast. Let these typical red state welfare mooches get the money from Cindi...

And BLT-I'm checking right now. If it weren't for the likelihood I'd join the GOP, I'd be open to a lobotomy.
This is probably a better option:
Jimmy and I were brothers.
We went down different paths.
Jimmy always listened to my mother,
And me, I never like to take a bath.

As we grew and tumbled through adulthood
The pressure caused emotional drain.
So now I'm slowly dying in the bottle
and Jimmy has to live with half a brain.

Yes, me, I've got a bottle in front of me,
And Jimmy has a frontal lobotomy.
Just different ways to kill the pain the same.

But I'd rather have a bottle in front of me,
Than have to have a frontal lobotomy.
I might be drunk, but at least I'm not insane.

Jimmy let his troubles drive him crazy.
He never tried to drown it in a drink.
I know that drinking makes my thinking hazy,
But at least I still have brains enough to think.

Jimmy's got a brain that isn't stable.
He doesn't have the sense to say his name.
I'm sorry that his doctor was unable
To remove the proper portion of his brain.

BLT did you notice Dana Perino specifically mentioned sending all of the Bush administration documents immediately to the National Archives???
She was well aware that there is a bill being proposed to require that they remain where they are so that they will be available for investigations of various matters. The Daily Showmay be comedy but she was playing serious politics even as she cutely talked with Jon. I was impressed with her ability to hold her own with him though he didn't really go that hard on her.

See B.O. is trying to postpone the Anolog to digital tv conversion. Glad to see he's not afraid to tackle the tough issues of the day.

Obama pick for Pentagon appears to skirt campaign pledge on lobbyists

Obama picked William J. Lynn III, senior vice president for Raytheon Co., as the No. 2 at the Defense Department, Obama aides said Thursday.

That he also has been a well-known lobbyist for years underscores a common, revolving-door scenario in Washington, and appears at odds with the spirit of Obama's self-imposed rules to distance his administration from corporate influence peddlers.

Come on, Joe... you know that no matter what he does, people will still counter with "he's still better than bush/mccain even if he breaks every promise" so what's the point at this stage?

Meanwhile, 524,000 jobs lost in December, unemployment rises to 7.2 percent.
The U.S. economy lost 524,000 jobs in December, the 12th straight month of decline. "Nearly 2.6 million jobs were lost in 2008, with 1.9 million destroyed in just the past four months." It's the biggest job loss in any calendar year since 1945.

Am I the only one who thinks its creepy that Hans makes the second entry to the nooner about me? Especially since it's completely unprovoked?

What is it with you Hans? You obsession is just plain weird! You honestly are starting to weird me out. Seriously. This kind of obsession can't help but to make me think that you would actually hunt me down and do whatever it is sickos like you do to their stalkees.

well you see its like this

what you are seeing is the remaking of the DR and its a credit to outstanding conservatives voices on here and also RCADE And his staff of misfits and outcasts allowing us to voice our opinions here unlike most other pinko, commy, red, socialist, appeassors, environmental wacko sites........

and you are right

should have been here when the AMERICAN PEOPLE rose up as one and told the senate that their immigration reform was fucked.........we were almost all on the same page and it was more than a little scarey I might add and not near as much fun

Then there should be a precursor warning involved for those of us that don't have a clue why he would put something like that together.

and now that I have written my own speach its time to move on and head for the lunch counter were we will all go over last nights game and will continue to solve problems in the middle east as well as at home

all of you have a great weekend

Well, you DID go after him pretty hard last night. Guess he just picked his own time to retaliate.

He fired the first shot by telling me I had my head up my ass when I was indeed correct and Larry was wrong. I accused him of being party over truth (which was obviously true), but after that, every post with his name in it told Larry to check with Hans.

Hans is CLEARLY pissed that he got caught busted big time being a party over truth guy. I guess I'd be embarassed about that, too.

Guess when someone boldly proves that the truth doesn't matter and that party is the only thing that does, that person can't command much respect anyway.

And I've a feeling that even amongst the most die hard liberals here hat Hans, like redneckville, is an embarassment though it goes unspoken.

He loves to do so and has admitted the fact several times.

It's his thing, his schtick, his raison d'etre.

Well, to be perfectly honest his other thing is to bore the shit out of people by going on and on at length about the excruciating details of his life on the rig and off but that's actually annoying in and of itself as well.

Fer Spud's entertainment dollar nothing provides better value than watching Goat, who's continually trying to get other people's goat's around here, whining like a little bitch about how he's suddenly being attacked unprovoked.

wOOt! Spud is a massive fan of irony most days and that's some good stuff.

A man sat at a metro station in Washington DC and started to play the violin; it was a cold December morning. He played six
Bach pieces for about 45 minutes. During that time, since it was rush hour, it was calculated that a thousand of people went
through the station, most of them on their way to work.
Three minutes went by and a middle aged man noticed there was musician playing. He slowed his pace and stopped for a few
seconds and then hurried up to meet his schedule.
A minute later, the violinist received his first dollar tip: a woman threw the money in the till and without stopping
continued to walk.
A few minutes later, someone leaned against the wall to listen to him, but the man looked at his watch and started to walk
again. Clearly he was late for work.
The one who paid the most attention was a 3 year old boy. His mother tagged him along, hurried but the kid stopped to look
at the violinist. Finally the mother pushed hard and the child continued to walk turning his head all the time. This action
was repeated by several other children. All the parents, without exception, forced them to move on.
In the 45 minutes the musician played, only 6 people stopped and stayed for a while. About 20 gave him money but continued
to walk their normal pace. He collected $32. When he finished playing and silence took over, no one noticed it. No one
applauded, nor was there any recognition.
No one knew this but the violinist was Joshua Bell, one of the best musicians in the world. He played one of the most
intricate pieces ever written with a violin worth 3.5 million dollars.
Two days before his playing in the subway, Joshua Bell sold out at a theater in Boston and the seats average $100.
This is a real story. Joshua Bell playing incognito in the metro station was organized by the Washington Post as part of a
social experiment about perception, taste and priorities of people. The outlines were: in a commonplace environment at an
inappropriate hour: Do we perceive beauty? Do we stop to appreciate it? Do we recognize the talent in an unexpected context?
One of the possible conclusions from this experience could be:
If we do not have a moment to stop and listen to one of the best musicians in the world playing the best music ever
written, how many other things are we missing?

--
If you're walking on thin ice, you might as well dance.

That is why he stayed up all night writng that post, then cowardly ambushed me this morning with it. He can't stand being busted.

You have been away for awhile.
Hans stalked Goatman around with that one for weeks.

When I posted my comment to LeeAtwater (#66) I hadn't yet read past his first post (#1 on the Nooner).

After my #66 posted, I then caught Kanrei's post (#65) above mine and, after reading it, went back up to read Hans' post (#2) and them the rest of the Nooner thread.

I agree with WISGOD's comment:

...Then there should be a precursor warning involved for those of us that don't have a clue why he would put something like that together.

#38 | Posted by wisgod at 2009-01-09 01:01 PM

WISGOD's right. And as for a "precursor warning" -- that's not needed so much as an explanation as to why Han's #2 post is over here on today's Nooner instead of being posted as a continuation of last night's comments over on the totally DIFFERENT thread where it belonged?

Dragging a post to continue comments (which belong on another thread with a totally different topic) over to today's Nooner turns the entire board one big flamewar. If no one had been reading the other thread from last night, they wouldn't even have a clue as to what Hans is talking about over here on today's Nooner.

That is stalking -- pure and simple. Flame away at each other but at least keep your posts belonging to some blog battle from another thread over where they belong -- on the original thread where it started.

sorry -- screwed up the italics.

I wish I puked in the bed. Instead I pissed in it.

I think he pissed the bed.

I'm crying so damn hard.....

"I pissed in it."

In that case tell the missus SHE has my sympathies!

#88 | Posted by wisgod ...me too!

Well...Goatman...someone had to take ROB Aholes place...I guess you are the lucky duck.

I reckon. I remember rob saying that someone was stalking him to the point of posting his name and his parents' names on this blog. Was that Hans, Kerrin?

If so, maybe I ought to make my post #33 more than a tongue in cheek remark. It's hard to get into the mind of an obsessive stalker like hans.

101, the quicker you can make this into a joke, the better off you'll be. Start making fun of yourself for it and eventually your wife will go from angry to making fun of you too.

Watch out for Applebees...It ain't all good in 101's hood.

Not if he pissed on her side....

Whenever I piss the bed, I blame it on the wife. She now takes these fucking bladder pills. It fucks with her liver and kidneys, but what the fuck.

OK, here's the solution:

Tell the missus that, yes, you did piss in the bed. But the bites of the veneral crabs you picked up at work must've transmitted a hitherto unknown and especially virulent strain of syphilis into your bloodstream, which was already weakened and therefore uncommonly suceptible because yoiu've been selling too much of your precious bodily fluids to the blood drive to render emergency assistance to weakened pilgrims at Lourdes and the prop guys at Cumfiesta. Besides, you didn't think you were pissing. You thought you were putting out a fire with a gigantic firehose. Then leer and ask her if she'd like to check out the hose. That ought to do the trick.

"Was that Hans, Kerrin?"

I just remember that they had a flame war going on for quite awhile.
I do think that accusation was tossed around.

Joe...dream on!

No, the really funny thing is that Hans dropped by, made his post, then left all of you fuming and fussing for the rest of the day.

I guess the PC thing would be to fuss about Sarah Palin's doctor's receptionist's cousin's pedicurist's dirty floors or something instead of the stalker in our midst

Overly dramatic much?

Kerrin, that's how I get away with all the stupid shit I do. Although I'm not married yet.

Fuck Doc, that's brilliant! Now I see why you're a Doc. You could be a lawyer with deductive reasoning like that. If a fuckstick like Joe could do it, you sure as hell could.

Here we go. I hope Hans has his shorthand pad ready...

Another dose of reality for the right.

The 2008 Electorate
Liberal Democrats: 15 %
Moderate Democrats: 18 %
Conservative Democrats: 5 %
Liberal independents 5 %
Moderate independents 16 %
Conservative independents 8 %
Liberal Republicans: 1 %
Moderate Republicans: 10 %
Conservative Republicans: 21 %
* The liberal, moderate and conservative independent groups also include a very small percentage of voters who identified their party affiliation as "other."

Beyond those numbers, what should alarm Republicans most are the trends by age. Not only are young voters -- those under 30 -- overwhelmingly Democratic, they have become more so over the last four years. And if the young are the trendsetters (as they were during the Reagan years, when young people tilted to the right), then liberalism is set for a comeback. I noted in my column that young people are the only age group in which more voters called themselves "liberal" than "conservative." Note also that the most strongly conservative group consists of voters over the age of 65 -- i.e., voters born in 1943 or before. This is the post-New Deal electorate and includes many voters who reached maturity in the Eisenhower years. The pure New Deal generation has passed on to its reward, but the under 30 generation is providing liberalism and the Democratic party with the electoral ballast once provided by the New Dealers.

Alternate Plan B: 101 could drive home this afternoon, topping out at about 103 m.p.h. as he approached the astroturf in front of his double-wide, crash through the knee-high white plastic security fence, hop out, dash up the stairs, kick in the door, and bellow: "Goddamnit, woman, are yoiu gonna believe me or you lying eyes, ears, nose and throat?"

Doc..have you been sharing some of the Rev's mushrooms?

Overly dramatic much?

Hey, if hans can do it (see post #2) why can't I?

Asshat!

Does ibogaine come from mushrooms?

Overly dramatic much?

#105 | Posted by goatman

Oh, by all means, you can. Sure wouldn't want to rise above something you criticize in others, right?

SAR, if you want to criticize me for being over dramatic, criticize hans as well. Otherwise your admonishment rings quite hollow.

HANS

I took the quoted parts from your #2 post on today's Nooner and cited them below. I know it's not your entire post and you were referring to Goat missing the March primaries (like anyone cares about those anyway) but you make it out like Goatman is always lying and/or being dishonest when he says things come up on board his rig which are beyond his control.

I thought I was going to be onshore during election day. But I had to work over a week for someone. I did not know that until my hitch started. Therefore, not being a Nostradamus, I did not vote absentee.

#213 | Posted by goatman at 2009-01-05

I'm an awful american for missing a vote due to something beyond my control.

225 | Posted by goatman at 2009-01-05 09:15 PM

I like that "excuse," "something beyond my control"
Yep. I admitted it several times in this forum that I planned to give these primaries a miss since I had no interest in any of the candidates.

Planning on missing a vote is "missing a vote due to something beyond my control"? Cute.

Actually, "back then" Mr. Fickle "planned to give these primaries a miss." Didn't see anything on that thread about missing the vote due to "something beyond my control...."
Get a life -- I mean one that includes honesty, please? Indeed.

Now I am going to cite a couple of Goatman's posts for you.
I know these post he made (see below) recently over the holidays don't pertain to the timeline for the March 8 primaries but I'm posting them to show you how things can and do "come up beyond his control" out on his rig.

He missed Christmas and New Years due to things changes in his work schedule at the last minute. And it looks like he has had only had less than a week off in an entire month. (You'd have to ask him about the precise time.) But I have no reason to believe Goat is lying or being dishonest about his other statements when he says he's not on shore so can't do one thing or another because changes come up "beyond his control."

Do you believe he is not telling the truth when he wrote about all these events "beyond his control"?

By the way goat, how was the new year?

Good I hope.

It sucked getting called back in early because a fellow ET had a death in the family, but other than that, I guess it can be called good. No diagnosis of cancer or anything yet.

Here's a couple more posts to prove by the dates Goat was out on the rig only few days after he thought he had gotten done with his hitch --
...My shop is right outside of the smoking area. I went out there and asked the guys who were smoking.... Then I called the ECR and asked the three guys there. Went next door and asked the electrician who had a mechanic in there....

Posted by goatman at 2008-12-31 09:04 AM

...Also, I just got home from 3 weeks offshore a few hours ago...I'll be back here in a week when I'm back on the rig,....

Posted by goatman at 2008-12-27 06:06 AM

...I was supposed to crew change tomorrow. I found out today my relief isn't coming out due to medical issues. I get to stay another week here.

I just don't think it's right to accuse people of lying and then, on top of it, chase them from thread to thread to insinuate they are being a liar or dishonest.

(p.s. - And as for you, Goatman, I know you didn't ask for any help but sure hope you appreciate it anyway! Geeze, took forever to find these posts of yours. Whew. Unlike Hans, I don't keep archives handy. lol)

Next time you crash on a bender with a full bladder, slip on one of these. At least that way your wife won't punish you if you don't get up in time by making you sleep on the couch for two weeks.

Curious -- did you wet the bed 'cause you were crashed and unconscious or because you just didn't feel like getting up. lol

Whew. Unlike Hans, I don't keep archives handy. lol)

Thank GOD!

Flowers -- a big bouguet. Delivered to her at the door.

You'll be back in her good graces in no time.

And a bottle of Anti-FlowMax.

Have a good weekend folks.
Mine will be spent trying to bond with my new shepherd...who seems to channel the spirit of Cujo.

I keep telling her I am one of the good guys.

Have a great weekend everyone. I'm off to pull a "101"!

Just don't do what the character Spud did in Trainspotting. And if you do, don't bring it to the breakfast table.

Northguy, younger people have always claimed being democrats in larger numbers than republican. Always. How that's supposed to worry anyone I have no idea. What made the Reagan thing special was that he pulled so many of the younger generation from labeling themselves as democrat to voting for him. Those stats are useless to making the point you are trying to make.

CHildren and animals have a sense about people.

EVERLONG

Every polling firm in the country worth a salt showed those identifying themselves as Democrats exceeded Republicans by 6-9% ... and growing.

Have a great weekend everyone. I'm off to pull a "101"!

You're going to jack off?

TMI dude!

AU--

Two more days! ;o)

PA is favored everywhere I think.

Including the home field winning percentage is like 75% during the playoffs.

It's going to be a great (and really really cold) game!

#121 | Posted by briwo

Come on Bri, don't you think confessing that he's a bedwetter is enough humiliation?

I also think he's going delete "pants pisser" from his vocabulary which was one of his favs.

In the End it's Murphy's Law applied to drinking a poison. Most of us have some experience with that.

101, it hd nothing todu with rollin roc..............
