Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs
Thursday, January 08, 2009

If someone told me five months ago that in early January I would pay over $1,400 for an incredibly inconvenient plane ticket and $120 for a 3 a.m. cab fare to get from sunny Los Angeles to Wasilla, Alaska, I would have told them there was a better chance the Dow Jones would be below 9,000 and a gallon of gas less than two dollars.

If they would have told me I'd be glad to have made the journey (even with a seven-hour, weather-aided stop in Seattle), I would have told them Sarah Palin had a better chance to be John McCain's running-mate. Of course, as we all now know this turned out to be true. And even though I still have the flu I got just before the trip, I'm thrilled to have experienced minus-eleven degrees in Alaska.

Just like we wre discussing last night--

Sarah Palin is the real deal.

Check out the video.

"Sarah Palin is the real deal."

More like a real moron, but please, nominate her in 2012.

Ziegler is the same guy who did the after vote interviews with Obama and McCain supporters and videos showing how little some voters knew anything about the candidates.

Sarah's the real deal that sealed a 9.5 million vote landslide. You betcha!!!

The real deal? Well, okay. So are Bush, Cheney, Coulter, Malkin, Limbaugh, O'Reilly, El Cid and BLT. Just what is a real deal? Does being one qualify you to run the free world? herm

I think this where Sarah suggests the press' giving Caroline Kennedy a better shake is a "class" issue. But surely Caroline's having more class is not subject to debate. herm

Is Todd aware that this guy is in love with his wife???

How dare she defend herself? What's next, lighting up a cigrarette and voting?

"Sarah's the real deal that sealed a 9.5 million vote landslide. You betcha!!!"

Sure of course i couldn't have anything to do with the extra 386 million obama spent.

And the 37 million and counting being spent for his tv coronation.

And in this economy..

Did I miss the article about him forcing people to contribute? Or are there yet more sour grapes abounding?

"And the 37 million and counting being spent for his tv coronation.

No, you couldn't. That's why you lost.

"poor St Sarah-the Press was UNFAIR"
WAAAAHHH!
You want cheese to go with that whine, smurph?
Do you want someone to call whine-one-one?
Or just call a waaaahhhmbulance for ya?

Sure of course i couldn't have anything to do with the extra 386 million obama spent.

What is your obsession with how much he spent?
He came by it legally-he had it to spend-sooooo-he spent it.
You think it's unfair somehow?
Usually it goes like this-the person who spends the most money-gets their message out better-and usually wins.
This time it happened to be Obama.
Unless, as a Repub-you're suggesting that money DOESN'T equate fo "free speech"-like the REST OF YOUR PARTY thinks it DOES?

Maybe most of the extra cash came from all those "undecided" voters who looked at what the Republican party was offering....and passed.

I wonder how many of the Christians who donated money to Osama Obam realize they gave money to a Muslim

Maybe timbicile should see a shrink for his obsession with Muslims....

That's exactly the point Salamander was trying to make; Obama, spending more money, reached more voters and therefore won. It's not wrong, it's not illegal, but it IS the way politics work. The previous posts were trying to imply that McCain would have gotten those extra 9.5 mil votes had he chosen a different running mate, as if Palin were solely responsible for his loss. Shoot, Bush had more to do with McCain's loss than Palin did.

"What is your obsession with how much he spent?

No i just think it is sad in a time where the election was practically gifted to the dems, that for them to win the had to double the campaign spending of the other guy. Then on top of that i think it says an awful lot that even obama knew he was not strong enough to win on an even playing field so he ditched his promise to use public financing. So i don't think it is a stretch to say it was not the people that spoke but instead the almighty dollar.

It is not that he cheated, he just brought a gun to a knife fight after promising not to.

Well stated there Sal--

He got money from the public. Or are you seriously saying that you want to retrict free speech? YOU LOST, ASSHOLES, DEAL WITH IT.

"... it was not the people that spoke but instead the almighty dollar."

Pardon me, but didn't the McWho ticket represent the party of the almighty dollar? Sally and the Murphess would deprive the millions who gave a few bucks of roles in the process? herm

"Pardon me, but didn't the McWho ticket represent the party of the almighty dollar?"

Thats what the dems led the weak minded to think. Of course politics are about money and this is where the big money spent.

Barack Obama
University of California $1,069,898
Goldman Sachs $884,907
Harvard University $732,150
Microsoft Corp $714,358
Google Inc $704,649

John McCain
Merrill Lynch $361,620
Citigroup Inc $304,051
Morgan Stanley $263,277
Goldman Sachs $229,695
JPMorgan Chase & Co $216,057

Hmmm yup the dems are for the little guy, don't worry i'm sure your not the last one fooled by them.

Hold on there, salamandagator!

Are not corporations limited to the amount they may contribute to a candidate (see link to FEC)?

www.fec.gov

If so, then are you:

1. accusing these corporations of committing a crime or

2. counting the contributions made by the EMPLOYEES of these corporations as "corporate contributions"?

Counting the contributions made by the employees is VERY different from (and "misleading" to put it diplomatically) from stating that they are "corporate contributions".

Also, in each of your cases, you "neglected" to list the amounts that a "corporation" gave to EACH candidate, since rarely is there an instance (if ever) that a contribution is made to just ONE of the candidates.

My understanding is that the only reason Governor Palin did this interview (while rejecting hundreds of other requests) is because of her sincere devotion to setting the record straight on what really happened during the campaign and to determine why the news coverage was as dangerously slanted as it so clearly was.

Spud's understanding is that the only reason Governor Palin did this interview (while rejecting hundreds of other requests) is because of her sincere devotion to promoting herself by allowing a partisan shill who thinks her shit doesn't stink to write a pathetic pro-Palin puff piece that will fool her koolaid-blinded fundy fanbase into thinking that she truly is THE ONE!

Be Well.

/Where is Theo Nebs, btw?
//Spud wanted his commentary on that NR cover.

MMMM, another Sarah Palin video. Saw excerpts from it tonight on Hardball. She's the gift that keeps on giving. . .and giving. . .and giving. . .

"So i don't think it is a stretch to say it was not the people that spoke but instead the almighty dollar."

Michael: I don't know anyone who could get through the day without two or three juicy rationalizations. They're more important than sex.
Sam Weber: Ah, come on. Nothing's more important than sex.
Michael: Oh yeah? Ever gone a week without a rationalization?
Hans

"I also know, with moral certitude..."

Is it possible to give a FF to the author of this ridiculous article/video?

Or just McAnkles?

Hans

"She is the real deal."

Is that like the special at Shoney's?

Hans

And Obama promised to take public financing and renegged on that promise.

And he received 30k at least from the same CA company that is being investigated for giving money to Richardson.

Mamma Mia!

"And Obama promised to take public financing and renegged on that promise."

Why are you promulgating that long-debunked lie?

Because it's true Dan..

Using the money donated by the public IS public financing.

The thing they call public financing is federal tax based financing. Its government money that could be used toward paying off our debt ot building more schools. Its socialist financing.

Though better then corporate financing. Its not as good as real public financing.

Watched the Palin clips on the tube last night.
What a whiner.
Plus, her Tina Fey impression sucks.

Me too. Damn, she's hot!

John Ziegler is a first-class jerk with very little credibility. He used to do a shock-radio call-in show in Louisville, but had to leave town after a hugely embarrassing on-air incident in which he talked about his girlfriend's crotch, breasts and underwear. That was the icing on the cake for station management, and he got fired. He badmouthed his employer quite publicly, taking the "poor, poor, pitiful me" approach before leaving to take a similar job in Los Angeles. Then he left that job in another cloud of controversy, and this time he created an entire web site devoted to the horrible mistreatment he was subjected to. Kind of a whiner, if you ask me.

Poor Sarah. She really was smart, articulate, honest, and made herself completely accessible to the MSM so that America could really understand who she was and what she stood for.

The MSM simlpy misrepresented all her answers doncha know.

They put dumb answers where her smart answers should have been, damn MSM liberals.

Wink!

Damn, dude. You really need to get out more.

Admit is you all are hooked on Sarah. You cannot get enough of her and the constant posts shows your passion for 'anything Sarah';)

MSGT

Look who posted this thread and get back to us, eh?

"Sarah Palin is the real deal.

Check out the video."

I did and I would have expected "the real deal" to have a little more personal accountability.

JPW,

Oh that is too funny! Talking about Palin's "personal accountablity" while voting for Obama and his "I did not hear any of that" about sitting in Wrights church for 10+ years, "Just someone in my neighborhood" on Ayres, "I have never talked to Blago.." with pictures of the two of them arm in arm and multiple calls from his staff as well as his "aid -de camp" Valeri Jarrett (the embezzeler of government funds) being suggested for the senate seat.

Too funny....

"I have never talked to Blago..."

Finish the sentence, dipshit. Obama never claimed he'd never, ever talked to Blago, just not about his Senate replacement. How intellectually dishonest can you get?

Salamandagator:
OK, I call bullshit here on your cut-and-paste. I don't think a college (in your post, U Cal and Harvard) can contribute money towards political candidates.

I'm not from Missouri, but you'll have to prove that to me.

What do you expect from FOSHITTER, Danforth? He lied last year about the size of the budget, claiming there were quadrillions of annual budget. Now he takes snippets of phrases, not only out of context, but fabrications. Ignore the troll, especially the lying troll.

Obama broke his pledge or promise about taking public financing.

www.anncoulter.com

At least admit it!

From the article--

Our interview started early and ended late (ask Barbara Walters how often that happens at this level). The Governor fully answered every question, even though some of them brought up media episodes which clearly upset her. When the subject turned to her kids being targeted, she was even a little emotional. She then posed for pictures and signed autographs for the entire crew, and casually discussed all sorts of topics, including how the local newspaper is absurdly still trailing the "story" that her youngest son is not really hers (this, while Todd walked around with Trig on his back and Bristol cared for Trip, her newborn, in a nearby bedroom; even Trig conspiracy theorist Andrew Sullivan would have had a hard time not seeing the insanity in his own delusion).

The madness of the local paper's efforts to prove Trig is really not Sarah's baby is not all we learned in post interview conversations. Conservatives will be thrilled to know she immediately "got" and seemed to fully appreciate my joke that Pete Wilson (and not Arnold Schwarzenegger) would go down as the last Republican Governor in the history of California. If that wasn't enough, when she looked at the back cover of my first film ("Blocking the Path to 9/11" www.blockingthepath.com) and saw the photo of one of the film's targets, Keith Olbermann, she literally let out a shriek and, pointing to his photograph, declared, "THAT guy is EVIL!"

Beyond the great interview for the film (from which there is still plenty of tremendous stuff yet to come), the most important part of my visit to the Palin home was learning there's a big difference between thinking something is true and knowing for sure it is. I now know Sarah Palin is exactly who I thought she was.

I also know, with moral certitude, that the media assassination of her, her character and family, was one of the greatest public injustices of our time and that I'm totally justified in devoting my life to correcting the historical record in my forthcoming film, "Media Malpractice How Obama Got Elected and Palin Was Smeared."

And Sarah was smeared--fine to discuss her policy positions--but the personal attacks on her and her family were outrageous.

Because it's true Dan..

It is not true, and you are spreading lies.

Just out of curiosity, I did an anagram of "Sarah Palin".

The results? Just as Church Lady was able to identify Santa as Satan, Sarah Palin is "Salina Harp", bride of Chuckie - an evil jester:
