I almost started this biz in 2002 when i lost my software dev job in a combination of the Internet bubble bursting and jobs going to India. Unemployment was high then, but I wonder what the unemployment was amoung hi-tech professionals was. Since then, I've landed and lost 3 jobs and coming up on the 4th job lost to offshoring. Obama is not going to change that. If he does anything, the entire corporation will move overseas. The business is providing low-tech computer services to businesses (mostly computer repair), web sites, etc. Basic business needs. I'm hiring local techs to do the work. There is furious competition, but I hope to develop a nitch.

So, complaining about who is President and what he is doing is a complete waist of time. Hopefully, Obama will turn the economy around, but I really don't see that in the cards. I do see my career changing, though.

I'm a Conservative, not necessarily a Republican, and I think that W and a few of the Republicans (and Democrats) really screwed things up lately, but they all had help from the Bankers and major Corps. They really don't give a shit about US.

Most of the jobs come from small business in America. I would happy if ALL of the economy was based on small business. I would love to see Obama agressively tax the shit out large Corps and give incentives to small business.
