There was a thread last week about this when all the applogist for the dems were saying how Harry was so tough and going to stick to his guns and keep him out. A few said that Harry would fold as soon as the race card was played. We will see how it ends.

Looks like everybody is playing a card on this one. Blago picks a black guy so that makes it harder for the Dems to challenge the pick, and the candidate says it was ordained by God that puts him in with the repubs.

From what I have heard, the guy is well respected. Its too bad that being picked by Blago has tainted him. The Senate should seat him based on his own merits and the people of Illinois can then decide if they want to keep him two years from now. I don't expect he can do too much damage between now and then.

Blagojevich hit the jackpot here. Burris provides falsification of the charge that Blago had the seat up for sale.

Reid was stupid to issue an ultimatum.

Blago is still governor until impeachment or resignation, so Burris is good to go. The SoS could be impeached for failure to certify.

Burris is a little loopy to be invoking god - but that just makes Blago's cover that much better.

Innocent until proven guilty is a very powerful standard.
