John used to come to a skateboard park in Marina Del Rey, California and watch us skate the pools and bowls back in the late 70's early 80's . He seemed alright then.

When we would make our run in the dogbowl (the bigest pool at the park) we would hit the deep part of the pool and yell out "Vinnie" for fun while we grinded the coping on the pool, he would flash that big smile and say "What?"

As a father myself I could not imagine outliving my boys.

Spud had never even heard the name before this article. Apparently he had a seizure in the bathtub and hit his head on the tub according to preliminary police reports. His caretaker discovered him still alive but life saving efforts proved futile ultimately. Rumour mill has it that Jett was autistic a charge, JT always denied.

Idle speculation aside Spud really feels fer the Travoltas in this situation. Losing a child must be the worst.

According to wiki there is only a 1 to 2% chance of death by heart attack in all diagnosed cases if the diagnosis and treatment is done early which it often isn't because of the rarity of the disease and it's similarity in symptoms to other diseases like rheumatic fever.

This is a terrible loss for the Travolta's. My thoughts and prayers go out to them and to their son. May he RIP.

I just spent the evening with a friend whose son has epilepsy. He was recently weened off one medication, so he could be put on an another one. In the interm, he fell in the bathroom but didn't get seriously hurt. My friend said that she now wakes up from a dead sleep anytime there is loud noise in the bathroom. If someone drops the shampoo, she wakes up instantly. We hadn't heard about this report at the time, but this is really going to make my friend even more hypervigilant and worried.

Very sad.

Platforms are permanently fixed, so they are for production only. Rigs are for drilling (though there are production rigs) and are mobile. Since a hole generally takes 3 months to drill, they do not permanently fix them to the ocean floor.

Roughnecks are the guys everyone thinks of when they think of oil drilling. They connect the pipe that goes into the hole. The Roustabouts work on deck and assist the crane operator in moving stuff by crane around the rig.

Note to the Bible haters...the two accounts are complementary; not contradictory.
