Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs
Monday, December 29, 2008

The last three trading days of 2008 will end Wall Street's worst yearly performance since Herbert Hoover was president. The ongoing recession and global economic shock pummeled stocks this year, with the Dow Jones industrial average slumping 36.2 percent. That's the biggest drop since 1931 when the Great Depression sent stocks reeling 40.6 percent.

Happy New Year!

The system is rigged.

It is mandatory that you work hard and smart to get ahead. But without some dumb luck it won't happen, unless you're on the inside, then you can't lose, no matter how much you fuck up.

Every now and again something wonderful makes it to TV land. All in the Family was certainly just such an experience. Thank you Carroll, Jean, Rob and Sally. Your union of humor and thought was terrific.

Worth repeating.

Gee, our old LaSalle ran great.

Didn't we just have a man like Herbert Hoover?

and I thought the world would be wonderfull if we just would elect barack the majic negro.

"It is mandatory that you work hard and smart to get ahead."

That's what's worked for me.

And if you are really smart you will regard the current situation as a huge buying opportunity.

It will be funny in few years to see the chronic bitchers on Drudge complaining that the stock market is climbing very high, and letting the rich get richer.

and I thought the world would be wonderful if I could only stop posting racist lockstepper bullshit.

That's what's worked for me.

You really think so?

Sniper you are beyond dumb. Have you noticed the date recently?

Insiders had their money out before the big crash. The rest of us losers took it on the chin. Some deal to have Feds tell us that if we didn't help to purchase toxic assets, banks would fail. Hurry, hurry, hurry... so we did it (which I was against) on the backs of our kids. Then they don't even buy the toxic assets, they just give $$ to banks and AIG, and they don't even tell us what they are doing about it.

What I do know is that AIG folks are getting bonuses. This is all pretty sick... When the majority of best and brightest go to work at Wall Street, you know we're screwed because all those folks seem to want to do is line their pockets.

What we need is a good Elliott Ness in charge. Or maybe a Joe Friday. We can even use a Fearless Fosdick or Dick Tracy. Scherlock Holmes won't do because he smokes too many pipes, and spends too much time riding in the Orient Express, trying to find out who killed that lady by stabbing her 500 times with a knife. Maybe Mike Hammer, but he spends a lot of time chasing beautiful girls like Delta, who by the way, is still a very cute and pretty lady. There are so many so called "legal crooks" in Wall Street, stealing millions here, and billions there, that pretty soon there will be no more from where to steal from. Unless of course, they start to steal from each other. As a last resort, Lt. Columbo can be sent in to try to clear the mess up. That is, if he can get in there before his beat up old jalopy breaks down. He is still most likely driving around in that old 1959 Peugeot convertible.

"And if you are really smart you will regard the current situation as a huge buying opportunity."

Which could work if people had the money to do so. Unfortunetely, for by far most of the people, they have to cut back on all expenditures. So it becomes a great opportunity only for a few.

Sounds like sour grapes from a loser.

Are you buying any shares in pork production here in the US?

Oh, wait. There aren't any 'hog farms' here in America according to you.

"And if you are really smart you will regard the current situation as a huge buying opportunity."

I find it interesting that "buying opportunities" existed when the Dow dropped to 13,000, when it dropped to 12,000, likewise at 11,000, 10,000, 9,000 and now. It must be nice to have enough money to buy at each of those points, take the loss each time, and still have enough money to buy now.

When was a D President or Vice President in the last 8 years?

At least Hoover had the good grace not to accept his salary as president. Whatever else he was, Hoover was not a kakistocrat like the crew that's practically demolished our country.

It is mandatory that you work hard and smart to get ahead

Or have the right last name. And Rusty-where was the vaunted Republican fiscal abilities in the last 8 years?

Probably the same place as their vaunted military and national defence abilities. Wandering around Bushworld waving a "Mission Accomplished" banner and stuffing their crotches with sweat socks.

It is mandatory that you work hard and smart to get ahead. But without some dumb luck it won't happen, unless you're on the inside, then you can't lose, no matter how much you fuck up.

Here's where you're perpetuating the myth that got Americans into this mess in the first place, Shawn. It was never your house. It was always the bank's.

And when you have made all those payments, it still doesn't belong to you unless you keep up those property tax payments to the county!

My stockbroker sent me a box of fruit & cheese, a few apples and some pears, for Christmas. I guess I'm supposed to live on that until the hard times are over!

And the fucking criminals, Congress and the Senate, give themselves raises.

The Down Jones they should call it after this last year.

Nice "All in the Family" reference headline.

Luffed that show.

Hopefully, the Dems in '09 will show better fiscal restraint (which is to say "some") than the war profiteering thieves who currently reside in DC.

Be Well.

Cab Vato,

Personally in the sense that Divorce Courts are evil, places with zero concern for the law.

Since you don't get it, I'll give you an example:

George H. Walker is the kingpin in the newly reincarnated asset management firm that's emerging from the collapse of Lehman Brothers.

Gee, how do you suppoose that transactions was timed? Do you think he'll make any money on the deal? Because of his connections any violation of bankruptcy law won't even matter. In case you are unaware, liquidation of valuable assets before filing bankruptcy is illegal.

OK, anybody want to ask why the first words out of the mouths of W and Paulson were "There will be no finger pointing or investigations as to who is responsible for this mess, just give us 750,000,000,000.00 and it has to be by next thursday or the ecconomy gets it!"

No finger pointing?

If a welfare mom gets an extra $20.00 in her book of food stamps, most of the righties here want her jailed and the kids sent to DFC.

But no finger pointing for 750,000,000.000.00.

This is a huge insult to Herbert Hoover.
