A new national poll suggests that three out of four Americans feel President Bush's departure from office is coming not a moment too soon. Twenty-eight percent of those polled say President Bush is the worst president in U.S. history. Seventy-five percent of those questioned in a CNN/Opinion Research Corp. survey released Friday said they're glad Bush is going; 23 percent indicated they'll miss him. "Earlier this year, Bush scored some of the lowest presidential approval ratings we've seen in half a century, so it's understandable that the public is eager for a new president to step in," said Keating Holland, CNN polling director.

When running for the White House in the 2000 presidential campaign, Bush promised to be a uniter and not a divider. But 82 percent of poll respondents felt that Bush did not unite the country, compared with 17 percent who said he did.

'The vast majority of Americans believe he betrayed his promise to unite the country,' Schneider said. 'He took a country that was divided under President Clinton and he divided it worse.'"

THERE is your legacy Mr. Bush.

The people that run this country don't give a shit about Bush or Clintons personal problems.

They have an empire to administer.

Wow. A thread that invites people to piss and moan about Bush. What a refreshing change for DR.

Then I hope you'll feel free not to participate. Talk about a refreshing change!

There seems to be a consistent 25% of people who just cannot or will not acknowledge how disastrous the W Presidency has been. How anyone can approve in any way any aspect of his presidency is a head shaking mystery.

Then I hope you'll feel free not to participate.

There are plenty of threads that I don't participate in. What's the point? On a thread like this one you're just going to spout the same lame ass shit you've been spewing for years.

Been there, done that.

But since you love me so much, I'll come back and visit.

I wonder what the numbers would have been with out 8 years of a hostile press?

MSGT

Bill Clinton endured 8+ years of daily press scrutiny and bashing by the GOP - and,/I> an impeachment attempt.

He left office with a 65% approval rating.

Now, ask yourself what the difference was ...

Could it be the condition he left the nation in as President?

BTW, I left you some Mac tips on the Friday nooner if you're interested.

I wonder what the numbers would have been with out 8 years of a hostile press?

I hope that comment wasn't a reference to Bush, because Bush did not endure 8 years of hostile press coverage. After 9/11, the press was pretty much asleep at the wheel when it came to covering Bush and Co. It was only after Katrina and after things in Iraq really started to go south, that the press came out of their collective slumber.

Let's speculate about that retarded 25%. IQs under 90. Taking their preacher's every word as gospel. For fetal rights AND for executing jaywalkers. Like Sarah, unable to name anything they've ever read, probably because of an inability to read. I expect to return from food and he post-exmuss sales to find lots and lots of response. herm

Gal,

Glide to see you here answering with the voice of truth and reason.

So few actually have the ability to remember how well bush really had the media in his lap.

Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Don't let the door hit ya in the ass on the way out and be grateful you never got nailed properly fer all the evil shiat you did, you smug, smarmy, arrogant, know-nothing, good-fer-nothing asshole.

That goes triple fer Dickless Cheney.

Oh yeah... and THIS.

Pretty much Spud's take except to notice that the rightards conveniently fergit to mention FOX's all out cheerleading of this POTUS, this admin and especially it's war in Iraq.

Can Obama expect eight similar years of cheerleading from Rupert's network?

Spud thinks "No" there.

Be Well.

The Free Press of the United States is a thing of the past. The press doesn't want to rock the boat---it is a shill for whatever government is in power. There are no reporters anymore, there are only note takers.

"23 percent indicated they'll miss him."

Why do 23% of Americans hate America?

But wait until Jeb make his move. I'm sure many of the same rightards here who supported the disgrace known as GWB will support Jeb with equal fervor.

I agree. They have no concept of America.

"There are no reporters anymore, there are only note takers."

Bob is right, as usual. This is because newspapers are now run by accountants and ad men. Bushies are in no danger of Woodwards and Bernsteins because it's cheaper to fill space between ads with celebrity gossip and canned advice columns. The mainstream press and the TV networks will not risk anything that just offend potential advertisers. Luckily we have the alternative press, Pacifica and public airwaves, a handful of publications not working to make their publishers billionaires and above all, blogs like this. herm

The bastard only started this war to win re-election to his second term. He only won because America has never voted a wartime president out of office. Sonofabitch should face tribunal not retirement.

Fortunetly, Barry fully embraces the Bush Doctrine, will follow Bush's plan for the economy, and will ignore the whacky left.

I somehow doubt it. He also will ignore the "whacky" Thom. herm

What's the Bush Doctrine?

-Sarah 'Meth Momma' Palin

"Fortunetly, Barry fully embraces the Bush Doctrine..."

If it makes you feel any better, then...

Sure he does, fukwit, sure he does.

So basically 1/4 of the people are stupid?

Nobody knew what the Bush Doctrine was, not even Bush until numbnuts Charles Gibson invented it to embarass Palin.

"Fortunetly, Barry fully embraces the Bush Doctrine, will follow Bush's plan for the economy, and will ignore the whacky left."

Can't wait for the Supreme Court nominations.

Hans

"Fortunetly, Barry fully embraces the Bush Doctrine..." followed by "Nobody knew what the Bush Doctrine was, not even Bush..."

You can't make this up. They willingly volunteer it.

Hans

HANS,

Get your pea brain in gear and follow the chronology from the time that Charles Gibson put a name to Bush's policy of preemptive warfare.

Sorry peaches, I don't go for the big and stupid type. I just wanted to make sure you didn't feel obligated to sully yourself in such a thread that might offend your delicate sensibilities.

I think we can safely say that most people think George Bush's Presidency DOES, however.

A pole conducted by CNN/Opinion Research Corp?
The results were analyzed and presented by CNN?

Are you serious?

Okay, here is a DR pole for ya:

1. A CNN pole is unbiased and credible

2. An MSNBC pole is unbiased and credible

"Okay, here is a DR pole for ya..."

I suspect most people here on the DR prefer this pole.

No doubt it is unbiased and credible.

Hans

Are these poles residents of Warsaw or things we dance around on May 1? Actually I trust those "poles" a great deal more than I trust most libertarians. herm

"I suspect most people here on the DR prefer this pole."

The link says the pole will support up to 180 pounds - that is a helluva lot of stripper!

so half the people that voted for the moron had no idea what they were doing

"so half the people that voted for the moron had no idea what they were doing"

there's a difference between gullible and stupid.

bush is stupid for thinking the Iraq war was a good idea

Hillary was gullible for believing the lies he told to sell it.

good riddance is NOT good enough
prosecution is the only acceptable end game for bush and his accomplices. Strip him of his 'legacy', his pension, and his freedom.

Sadly Pelosi didn't have the balls to impeach the bastard and sadly, though I supported Obama with every ounce of my liberal heart, I don't think he has the balls to prosecute him. Hence there will be little to deter future bastards from committing the same crimes as bush.

Let me be the first, last and maybe only one to welcome the proud lib to the fold. He or she says it succinctly and accurately. Thursday will herald a new age that actually starts on Jan. 20. herm

Are you being serious? Are you actually saying that Charles Gibson made up the name 'Bush Doctrine'?

On that note, I'm going to stop debating anything with you anymore as I can see that you have no grasp on reality.

LOL!

Interesting stuff here on the DR. Image using CNN as a tracking poll. I though DR had more class. Well, no matter it seems Bush could never do anything right.

Now that we have a new administration coming in. I hope to see the same activity on the DR as we due now.

This is still the best country in the world. Happy New Year Folks...

Mornin' Oozie. Don't like the poll source eh?

How about this then...

Bush job approval ratings

USA Today/Gallup: Approve = 29 Disapprove = 67
ABC/WaPo: Approve = 30 Disapprove = 68
Fox: Approve = 30 Disapprove = 65
Pew Research: Approve = 24 Disapprove = 68
Associated Press: Approve = 28 Disapprove = 66
Quinnipiac: Approve = 23 Disapprove = 71

Seems to be pretty much a consensus, wouldn't you say there Ooze?

San,

The damn humorous thing about the polls is they will throw out bush and the republicans but vote back in the same congressional representatives who gave bush the green light for signature.

Now that is funny, America is so bright!

You know what? If Bush would at least come out and admit that he himself had made mistakes - a preemptive and unnecessary invasion of Iraq, fumbling the response to Katrina, conducting illegal wiretaps on private citizens, and torturing suspected terrorists (to name a few) - then maybe I'd gain a modicum of respect for the man.

But as it stands, the goal of his ongoing legacy project is to point the finger at everyone else.

And for that, he gets no respect from me. 22 days left, Mister President. Don't let the Oval Office door hit your ass on the way out.

That Bush believes a legacy project can alter history in his favor in itself reveals why he believes he needs one.

Legacies speak for themselves. America, 2009 is Bush's legacy. The rest of us now living in it know what it is.

"75% say good riddance to Bush"

Based on their approval rating, Stretch Polosi and Dirty Harry, 90% think they should GET LOST!

SANOBAMA: I thought I told you CNN is as bad on facts as the New York Slime.
