George Stephanopoulos: Sources tell me that the Obama team's review of contacts with Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich will show that Rahm Emanuel had only one phone conversation with Blagojevich. The contact, described as a "pro-forma" courtesy call, came as Emanuel was named Chief of Staff for Obama. Most of the discussion concerned Emanuel's Congressional seat (which had previously been held by Blagojevich), with only a "passing reference" to the Senate vacancy, according to these sources. No deal for the Senate vacancy was discussed.

Well, there's always the birth certificate issue to fall back on.

Oh wait...

Hehehe.

So much for "no contact"

I believe the comment was no contact by Obama and no inappropriate contact by staff.

Damn you and your "facts"!

To hell with those facts!
They just want to bash Obama.
That's all they have to live for anymore.......

Emanuel had one conversation with Blago and this is what he said:

"Flops will give you a million dollars if you don't appoint the son of that fuck Jesse Jackson who promised to cut my balls off."

How is it that blowjobovich is still in office? Can't they just send a policeman over there and arrest him?

Hey Lippy I thought you libs believed in due process or do you just pay "lip" service to the concept.

"Flops will give you a million dollars if you don't appoint the son of that fuck Jesse Jackson who promised to cut my balls off."

I wouldn't blame him one bit.

Obama said, "We just completed an investigation of our actions and we found that we did nothing wrong."

Now that is transparency!

Obama has handled this sooo badly. And continues to handle it badly.

Cronyism for Valerie to be picked--no problem.

Hope and Change we can believe in.

In this ever evolving and political damage controlling situation, I wonder what the story will be tomorrow. What ever it is, the scandal landscape has swapped sides like a football game after halftime...the left is now the "so what" party and the right is now the "hang 'em high" party.

So many dolts...so many hacks. The troubling part is, most of the perpetual hacks are not the naive, political newbie college geniuses but rather, fully grown, seasoned adults that clearly suffer from blinder induced arrested development...very sad.

Well, in the spirit of the game I say, GO TEAM!...LOL

how so? ^^^

There is a scandal involving the same party gov of your state trying to sell of the seat your are vacating for the presidency. Its hard to come out of that smelling like roses.

no matter what came out regarding Obama's handling of the matter, conservatives would still have nothing but criticism in response

that is a fact

I completely agree. It's all too easy to accurately predict how (D) and (R) will act in any given situation.

But.....but........but.......b
ut (nothing there)

-The Right

For someone who first came out and denied any contact or knowledge of contact by his team, then refused to answer any questions, there certainly seems to have been an awful lot of...contact. Emanuel spoke with Blagojevich only once but with others in that camp a handful of other times. Are we to believe Obama didn't know about who his top aide was speaking with, and what about? I don't think anyone can say they have been forthcoming with information on their contacts with Blagojevich - if the truth was that there was no contact, Obama should have just come out and said so. Instead he said "I was not aware of any" - a way of hedging his statement so that he could later come forward with a "report" - which he prepared, that has had plenty of time to be scrubbed into something just as uninformative as every statement he's given on the matter. And he's off to Hawaii for two weeks, just in time.

No matter. It's all just a bunch of coincidences, and we should believe every word of the report and stop talking about this.

When Obama is president, will the public still be satisfied when the only tangible piece of evidence produced with regard to an ethical matter is a report written by Obama while Rahm whispers into his ear?

For someone who first came out and denied any contact or knowledge of contact by his team

He didn't.

then refused to answer any questions

He didn't.

And you're a liar. What else is new?

You contradict one of your assertions in the very post I quoted, and I'm sure you can't back up the other (outside the documented fact that Fitzgerald asked Obama to delay his report, and further comments, for a week)

And you're a liar. What else is new?

Posted by JOE at 2008-12-23 01:22 AM |

Name one.

His first response was, in its entirety:

"I had no contact with the governor or his office and so I was not aware of what was happening, " Obama told reporters today in Chicago. "It's a sad day for Illinois. Beyond that, I don't think it's appropriate to comment."
www.bloomberg.com

The first bolded portion is his entire first response to a question about his involvement with the Blagojevich scandal. He apparently did not think it necessary to mention whether his top aides contacted Blagojevich - or he expected us to believe he didn't know about it.

The second bolded portion is his refusal to speak about the matter any further before he can huddle with Rahmbo.

Joe-
His comment: "I had no contact with the governor or his office and so I was not aware of what was happening, "

Your comment: "For someone who first came out and denied any contact or knowledge of contact by his team"

Duh.

Now, you stated:

And you're a liar. What else is new?

Posted by JOE at 2008-12-23 01:22 AM |

Back that up.

Beyond all that, there remains the contradiction between what Axelrod said earlier and what they claim now. And all I'm saying is that for a group who wants to claim they have nothing to hide, there has been no shortage of parsing, hedging and "mistaken" top advisors.

Joe-
You called me a "liar".

Back it up.

Saying you have no contact and were not aware of what was happening is substantially similar to my characterization of the phrase. Further, his refusal to answer questions is documented by his statement that he "does not think its appropriate to comment any further." That makes you a liar - since you said "he didn't" to both of my statements.

Adios, liar.

That means I'm going to bed - in case you were planning on sitting here talking to yourself all night like you usually do when people leave.

Bwahhaha Joe,

only fools get their talking points from Sean Hannity.

you would also have to be fool to fault the man for not giving you AN END ALL STATEMENT the DAY THE SCANDAL BROKE--

what a tool

I know how badly you want a scandal, Joe, but you blow you're credibility (LOL) by jumping the shark on this one.

Adios, liar.

Talking to yourself again beech?

Go whack to ashley olsen, gramps.

See ya.

"You call someone a liar and then run away?"

Sure. My own internal review of the thread will reveal that I am right. Since that's all it takes for you to be on board, my work here is done.

The people who got shot needed it. Sometimes justice can be swift. If we always waited for lib judges and the ACLU we would never see justice.

Which is it? Due process ALWAYS, or only when you decide?

Yeah but Obama offering Bjago a bazillion bucks for a "real" Illinois birth certificate and for Rod to declare Islam the State religion has so much more truthiness in it.

FW, if you have ever read anything I say, you will know that I'm not a liberal. there are some liberal policies I like.

I am now and always have been an independent. I usually side with the conservatives, but since there are no more of those, I vote for the most conservative of the bunch. In this past election, that was obama. The republicans now don't even know what conservative means. They think conservative means to be a talibaptist and a jesuit warrior for jesus and i reject all that 100%.

Either way, I am not in favor of politicians breaking the law and getting away with it, whether they are a democrat or a republican.

Well, there's always the birth certificate issue to fall back on.

Oh wait...

pretty funny stuff

surely YOU didnt come up with it yourslef....lol

and all of you lefties can bitch all you want about how we are asking for some little something to come out of the obama people.........you know...like the truth..

(here is where one or more of you tell us that fitspatrick told them not to say something, as if they are really concerned with keeping it underwraps for legal reasons)

and remember we were promised the most transparent administration in a generation.....so you dont suppose that ....

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO obama not keeping all his promises........NNNNNNNNNNNOOO
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I guess the " Source" was wrong

"An internal review prepared for President-elect Barack Obama says his incoming chief of staff had multiple conversations with Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich's office.

The report was released Tuesday as an Obama transition official confirmed that Obama and two of his top aides, Rahm Emanuel and Valerie Jarrett, have been interviewed in connection with the federal investigation into Blagojevich."

Valerie Jarrett is the one with Cecil and Michele Obama in the triangle that ripped off the Government for millions in the Low Income Housing scandel.

Oh..I forgot...Obama had all these dubious characters around him (Rezco, Jarrett, Blago, Wright, Ayres), came up through Chicago politics ...but never got himself dirty.

Yea...right...I believe that..... Look THERES AN ELF!

"Emanuel had one or two conversations with Blagojevich and four with Harris on the subject of the Senate seat, according to the review."

So pretty much the same as what this thread article said.

Oh... here:

news.yahoo.com

One or two aint multiple.

(1) Where is the report? It was supposed to be released today.

(2) Why should anyone believe a report that was prepared by people who have an interest in the report saying a certain thing?

(3) Is it just a coincidence that it's being released while Obama is on vacation avoiding the media?

Of course, Rahm wouldn't' be doing his job had he not had some discussion with Blogo on this.

And, of course, Blogo says that the Obama team offered him, "fucking nothing".

Yep, sounds like a conspiracy to me.

One or two aint multiple.

#47 | Posted by foshaffer

Read it again Fo. It says multiple with contacts with Blago's office... not with Blago. One possibly two with Blago and four with his CoS, Harris.

(2) Why should anyone believe a report that was prepared by people who have an interest in the report saying a certain thing?

#48 | Posted by JOE

Do you think that knowing full well Fitzgerald has tapes of practically all of Blago's phone calls that they're going to lie about it?

Nothing here on Obama freepers. Pick your battles, this is a loser.

(1) Where is the report? It was supposed to be released today.

It was.

(2) Why should anyone believe a report that was prepared by people who have an interest in the report saying a certain thing?

See SanAntonio's post #47. Should the report contradict the taped conversations, there will be plenty of reporting. Too much at risk to try and make something up.

(3) Is it just a coincidence that it's being released while Obama is on vacation avoiding the media?

It was released today, delayed one week, specifically at the request of Fitzgerald. Fitz concluded his interviews Friday. Why should Obama postpone his vacation to answer questions about a non-issue? To satisfy idiots and hacks that will never be satisfied?
