This is interesting. I'm reading a book, "Blacklisted by History" by M. Stanton Evans. One interesting item is the "Venona" records, that's KGB Files, prove that communist agents had infiltrated the OSS during WWII. This gives more credence to the above titled book.

So, the US government is okay to whack one of its best generals. I think reason for the murder likely has more to do with the fact that Patton wanted to re-arm the German POW's (DEF interned and killed in Eisenhower's camps) and continue the war against the Soviets than delare peace and fight another day. He should have done it too - technical superiority over the Soviets (nukes, German rocket and plane technology, etc) could have ended the communist expirement prior to having 100M+ people die in Ukraine, Russia, China, Combodia, Vietman, etc just name a few. The US should have allowed Patton to cut the head off the snake by taking out Stalin - Mao would have collapsed with even moderate US intervention.

The US shouldn't have let Russia take Berlin.

We dug up a President to see if he had been poisoned--why not dig up Patton and see wassup. I bet he'd be in favor of it either way, but especially if he'd been poisoned. There should have been an automatic autopsy--better late then never.

The question that the U.S. (and England) faced was did we want to go to war with Russia. Stalin was totally and completely obsessed with the notion that Russia _had_ to take Berlin. The only way to stop him was to go to war against him.

We were tired of the war (and we were still fighting the Japanese), as was all of western Europe. As was Russia, but Stalin didn't care and he had the luxury of having his way there. I don't like the decision we made, but it think it was the best one to make.
