Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

W. Mark Felt, the former FBI official who ended one of the United States' most intriguing political mysteries when he identified himself as Watergate source "Deep Throat" -- has died. He was 95. A controversial figure who was later convicted of authorizing illegal activities in pursuit of members of the radical Weather Underground, Felt died of heart failure Thursday at his home in Santa Rosa, Calif., his grandson Rob Jones said.

Before the jokes start about "Deep Throat" let it be said that even though he had his own agenda---who doesn't?---Mark Felt did this country a great service by helping to bring down an active conspiracy to destroy the Constitution.

So he probably choked on something, right?

Nixon will be waiting for him on the streets of glory for some pay back.

It might be a while.

Nixon is still assigned to the karmic payback room.

Rumor has it that he authorized a break-in to St. Peters office.

Too bad he never got to meet larry craig.

I was just thinking, 'what would I call myself if I needed an FBI code-name'? It certianly wouldn't be 'deep-throat'.

Something ethereal perhaps? Maybe something suggestive but non-sensical at the same time. How about 'Lipzoidial'. Ya, that's it.

When I was in High School, I took a job on a framing crew, driving nails. This was the 70's and I had the obligatory curly perm down my shoulders. the guys I worked with had one name for me, 'Kinky-headed-needle-dick-
mother-f*cker'. My boss even wrote that on my first paycheck.

Nixon is still assigned to the karmic payback room.

FF Excellent sir.

Republicans and their obsession with fake plumbers-what's up with that?

Thanks "deep throat" for rescuing us from lying politicians. Rather him than Linda Lovelace.

what's up with that?

No other plumber would dare fix the plumbing at the men's bathroom at GOP headquarters.

Nixon. At least he had an IQ over 10, unlike the current resident of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Could you imagine if Bush had tried a Watergate-style operation? We probably would be under marshal law right now, bathed in radioactive embers.

This man, like Daniel Elsberg and the Pentagon Papers, made great sacrifices for their Country. They wanted to see Democracy restored. Our legislator responded in a patriotic and bipartisan manner that has never been duplicated.

Cheney took a lesson from it, carefully destroying official records or keeping them in his personal safe. Since that time most of our legislature has lost their moral compass. Secrecy and betrayal of our founding principals are at an all time high. Cheney's skill at getting what he wanted without leaving his own fingerprints on the dastardly deeds is unique.

Nutcase - all that acid you munched in the van has made you quite paranoid!

Looks to me like he left a lot of work un-done.

Mr Felt need some sort of honor for what he did.

RIP Mr. Felt.

You loved your country so much, you were willing to nearly
destroy it. Well done, sir - the word 'HERO' is too modest.

Be Well.

God old Mark Felt, himself the apotheosis of hypocrisy. He was himself convicted of illegal entries, and pillaging offices. He defended his actions on the basis that it was legal to gather information regarding radicals and bad guys. Reagan pardoned him.

What a guy. What a moral character.

By the way, his daughter before his death, had suggested that he wanted the two Watergate reporters, Woodward and Bernstein, who built lucrative careers on that story, to now compensate him for his information as he wanted to leave more money to his descendants. Makes sense to me. Since Felt suffered from Alzheimer's Disease, it is possible that this was his daughter's initiative, which was attributed to him.

What course would this country have taken without Watergate? Better or worse?

Watergate delayed our demise, but its effect on the Government was not as powerful as Vietnam War protestors, Martin Luther King or the Black Panthers.

Our Government (the Oligarchy) swore never again, and began making changes to prevent a recurrance. The plan was to degrade education, so most people would be too dumb to figure out what's going on and repress wages, so people wouldn't have the time or energy to do any protesting. That campaign has been remarkably successful.

These changes, plus a conspiracy between Government and Corporations, particularly major media set the stage for the greatest financial rippoffs in the history of mankind, dwarfing WWII, the Marshall Plan, the Vietnam War and Social Security, the S&L Crisis and the Iraq War. All they needed was Cheney and the Bush Crime Family.

Carter was elected in response to the evident corruption. But today those perceptions have been overcome through major media propaganda.

So, the answer to Johnson's question is about the same.

I find it interesting that Mark Felt's daughter
looks exactly like Dr. Laura (the shrink
that needs one). What a family. What a bunch of
sorry-assed tool bags. Felt did not get the
promotion that he believed he deserved, so
he turned into a sneaky (cock-swallowing) rat.

Q: What kind of a pussy puts his selfish career interests
ahead of his country?

A: A rat-fink bastard.

"Q: What kind of a pussy puts his selfish career interests

Does this mean Nixon did something wrong? I mean, you can't rat someone out who hasn't done anything wrong, right?
