FOX Business Network has filed a lawsuit against the United States Treasury Department over failure to provide information on the bailout funds or respond to FBN's expedited requests filed under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).

The rest of the liberal media thinks it's just peachy keen that the government is spending boatloads of money that it doesn't have and the liberal media could care less how that money is spent.

Some little part of hell just froze over.

Pre-emptive foxnews strike on an Obama presidency.

Bush won't even be president by the time this is fully reviewed, so fox can go back to it's "we fight for the little people against the govt" schtick they bullshitted everyone with through the 90's.

Crass manipulation is all this is. Murdoch doesn't give a rats ass where the money goes, until its time to stick it to the democrats again.

Look for the press to find their "balls" again too. Just in time for Barack, but too late to hammer the worst president in our lifetimes.

How convenient.

WOW. The lawsuit is against the United States Treasury Department. At this point it has nothing to do with Obama. They are suppressing information as to where the tax dollars are really going. Did Olbermann or Maddow lead you to say that? Good God, get a grip.

The Wall Street firms and banks who received a combined $350,000,000,000 so far are refusing to say how they spent it. Bonuses are still being given out thanks to you and I. Seems Paulson would have at least been considerate enough to ensure that didn't happen at firms that lost billions this year.

KBM- Think about it for a second.

Foxnews had 8 years to go after an unheard of amount of stonewalling from W's admin.

They pull this crap in bushs last 6 weeks as president after Obama won, and is coming in.

Now OBAMA is the govt, and once again, foxnews is going to aggressively pursue a democratic admin.

Just watch. Their excuse for not pushing bush on this will be that he didn't vote for the bailout and Obama did.

And when it takes "too much time" for the bailout info to be released, it will be smack dag into Obama's 100 days, and they'll jam that up his ass. Just watch.

Bush won't even be president by the time this is fully reviewed, so fox can go back to it's "we fight for the little people against the govt" schtick they bullshitted everyone with through the 90's.

This is most positive thing I've seen a network news company do.

I know you hate Fox, but you have to hand it to them.

Shows like O'Reilly Factor draw 2 million viewers (except 2 months before the election). Fox News highest rated show.

That's .66% of Americans (2/3rds of 1%)

Fox Network has only one show in the Top 20 - House (15). Original character that Dr. House. Amazing an Aussie (or is he English?) can pull off such a believable American accent.

EDDIE

Fox may be able to finagle the numbers given to companies, but the companies aren't sharing what they did with the money.

Fox can tell the true news as well as anyone ~ they just choose to omit the stories when they feel that they make certain folds politically uncomfortable

So Alex, your 28 years old or younger? You must be kidding right? Jimmy Carter is the worst president ever and its not even close. 21% interest rates, 12% inflation, 8% unemployment, Iraq hostages, etc.

Also what are you smoking if you don't think the press has went after Bush for the last 8 years. Lets remind you of some things. Dan Rather and CBS faking documents about Bush's military service. Continuously perpetuating the falsehood that Bush lied about intelligence involving weapons of mass destruction when Bill Clinton used the same info to bomb Baghad in 1998. Lets not forget the constant rabid hateful dialogue by Keith Olberman, Chris Mathews, etc. that has saturated our airwaves for 8 years.

Chris Mathews did 37 straight nights coverage about the Valerie Plame debacle but once it came out that Richard Armitage was the leaker he was quiter than a church mouse. No lets get Armitage stories whatsoever. Oh and lets not forget Andrea Mitchells lies to the court after she had already stated on air that Valerie Plames identity was common knowledge in Washington.

Alexandrite, you will fit right into Obama's secret police or the Nazi party of Hitler!

21% interest rates, 12% inflation, 8% unemployment, Iraq hostages, etc.

Carter was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

He was an idiot for allowing the Shah to enter this country, but then if you think the hostages were in Iraq you lack an historical perspective and undermine your own argument.

It's pretty petty as it is.

BUZKILLER

Post 9/11 America was an entirely different scenario for the press. They gave Bush a lot of benefit of the doubt where they wouldn't have given one pre 9/11

Jimmy Carter did not raise interest rates. The Chairman of the Fed did that. If you're too young to have lived through it, Carter inherited rising inflation from Ford. It didn't start with Carter, it just got worse. Why? The Oil Embargo raised prices on everything, and the bill for Vietnam was coming due.

A President does not tell the Fed whether or not to raise or lower interest rates. One reason I suspect they've stayed low the last several years is because out national debt is 11 times as large as Ronald Reagan left it. A rise in interest rates could crush us. We're currently paying nearly $500,000,000,000 (billion) a year to service the national debt.

Bash Carter all you want to, but many of the events that transpired during his term were completely out of his hands. I remember waiting in line for hours to gas up - if they kept the pumps open more than a couple of hours on the odd/even days (depending on what your license plate ended with) in California.

It did piss me off highly when Reagan gave the Iranians missiles for freeing the hostages. Great idea, eh? Arm the people who just let your hostages go. Uh, huh.

Also what are you smoking if you don't think the press has went after Bush for the last 8 years.

Cheney just essentially admitted to war crimes in the same week as our POTUS was assaulted by a journalist from the countyry we're occupying ... and the media is covering Obama's non ties to blogo nonstop. The entire media, mind you, not chris "bush will be on the lincoln memorial" matthews.

This is a disgrace, and so are you.

If Clinton had done half the things bush has done...the press corpse(spelled that way on purpose) would have flayed him apart in such a way to make the monica lewinski coverage seem like Clinton bought PR.

Cheney just essentially admitted to war crimes...

How could he be guilty of war crimes? Constitutionally the VP has zero power except as a tie breaker in the Senate.

How could he be guilty of war crimes?

Read his interview. I'll give you ten minutes to figure it out.

How could he (Cheney) be guilty of war crimes?

The media has shown some interest as it rightfully should. Obama himself is part of the reason the story has continued. He said he would be forthright but continues to stall on this. Now leaks claim that Rohm Emanuel did have talks to Blago about the seat.

Personally I don't think much of the Obama connection for this reason. If Jesse Jackson Jr. was giving the feds dirt on Blago for years then certainly he tipped Obama off about it and any possible investigation. Obama would have to be an idiot to give Blago any possible hope of a pay for play deal. Jesse Jr. was a prominent part of the Obama campaign team.

The story about Ill. Gov is incomplete w/o this potentially bigger story that set the indictment off sooner than it should have ~ so it seems...buzzywasy

He said he would be forthright but continues to stall on this.

Fitzgerald told him to wait a week. Far too long for the 24/7 cable news pukes and the right wingers itching for whitewater v2.0

FFS Blogo was calling Obama a "motherfucker" for NOT being a criminal scumbag with him.

Alex wrote,

Here's a list for you.

1. Asked for and got FBI background files on former republican officials. These have to be requested for one at a time. As bad as or worse than Watergate!

2. Sold pardons to Marc Rich and Puerto Rican terrorist.

3. Tried to steal White House furniture.

4. Accepted campaign contributions from the Chinese via Johnny Wong.

5. Wife hid Rose Law firm billing records in the White House and then had the gall to lie about it.

and the list goes on and on and on and on!

I never saw the press call Hillary to the carpet after the Rose law firm billing records were found by a maid in her personal living quarters. They ate her lie up faster than a wino drinks Thunderbird.

If only Chris Mathews and Keith Olbermann would have sank their teeth into this story the way they went crazy over the Valerie Plame ordeal.

Robert Redford: Bush sale of Utah land 'morally criminal'

"What you keep getting shocked about is how devious and secretive -- and basically, in my mind, morally criminal -- their behavior has been," Redford said of the Bush administration. "These lands are not Cheney's and Bush's. The lands are ours. ... They're part of our legacy."

rawstory.com

Tell me Alex do you think Jesse Jackson Jr. ever talked to Obama about his discussions with the FBI over Blago?

If so there's no chance Obama would touch this deal.

Also it certainly does not remove the air of stink that comes with Obama from ties to Rezko, Ayres, etc.

Robert Redford makes me want to puke. A bigger asshole does not exist on the left. If Redford had his way everyone but him and his limousine liberals would live in a tent and wipe our asses on corn husk.

This is the same FAUX News that is giving 24/7 coverage to a corrupt governor from Illinois.

Do they really think the people of other states care about the gov of Illinois? Of course they don't so they have to keep pretending that Obama had something to do with this when Blago is on tape basically saying 'Fuck them (the Obama camp), they won't play along'.

Faux News: We Report, we Deride.

American companies send jobs overseas to get less expensive labor.

Is it your assertion they don't have the right to hire who they want?

Let me guess you would force them to hire only unionized americans.

Hows that working out for Ford, GM, and Chrysler?

Everytime someone shrilly screams, "Impeach Cheney" I always ask this same question, "For what? He has no power except as a Senate tiebreaker."

This question always goes unanswered. One would think that all these "impeach Cheney" people would finally get smart enough to realize he can't be. It's a simple concept, actually.

I said nothing of what you claim. I was pointing out how idiotic your claim is that Robert Redford wants everyone sleeping in tents.

Your false prophet Bush and your fellow republicans have done far more damage to this nation than the words of some actor. You do realize who was president during all of this, no?

BTW, that name calling was brilliant. Did you have to work hard on that?

Commonsense, I think the democrats who blocked regulation of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac have done far more damage to this country and its financial institutions than Bush ever could.

"...I think the democrats who blocked regulation..."

Of course you do.

Problem is, the American people don't do nuance. They don't blame arcane Congressional rules, committees or sub-committees, monolithic, independent entities like the Fed, or other historical events for their financial problems. They blame the president. Doubt that? See your own post #13.

Meanwhile, during the Carter years, people didn't watch as their personal portfolios lost massive amount of value almost over night.

Can't say that about the Bush years.

GWB: Worst president ever.

Hans

I always ask this same question, "For what? He has no power except as a Senate tiebreaker."

Technically you are correct.

but

You really haven't been paying attention, have you?

"Is it your assertion they don't have the right to hire who they want?"

I believe they should be allowed to outsource if they choose but they should lose the right to take it as a business expense and they should pay a tariff when they want to import their goods into the US. And if they don't like it then move to China but still continue to pay a tariff when they export to the US. Companies that outsource labor are killing America. They are economic traitors.

Technically you are correct.

The story of goatman's blogging life.

"Commonsense, I think the democrats who blocked regulation of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac have done far more damage to this country and its financial institutions than Bush ever could."

That is utter nonsense. Right wing talking point, nothing more.

See Greenspan, 1% interest rates, housing bubble.

"Look for the press to find their "balls" again too. Just in time for Barack, but too late to hammer the worst president in our lifetimes."

I guess "lifetime" is a relative term. I've lived through Johnson, Nixon and Carter.

Hans wrote,

"during the Carter years, people didn't watch as their personal portfolios lost massive amount of value almost over night."

Uhh, no during the Carter years they couldn't get or afford mortgages as interest rates were 21%+, They couldn't afford food and other necessities as inflation was running at 12%, many more than today had no job as unemployment was rampant. The recession Carter and the democrat congress brought on ran until late 1981 and unemployment went as hight as 11%. Currently unemployment stands at 6.8% no where near what Carter caused.

Carter is the reason Ronald Reagan won the election in 1980 and 1984 and took 44 & 49 states respectively.

Carter was and still is the biggest failure this country has ever seen as president.

James Madison declared war on the Britain. At the time probably the equivolent of Jamaica declaring war on us. We suffered humiliating losses, even Washington DC was captured and the White House burned. And the war was pretty much pointless.

James Buchanan is pretty much responsible for the Civil War. If he were slightly competant who knows what would have happened.

Those are my two worst... Followed by Nixon and then Carter.

You seem afraid that Fox and others will treat Obama the same way ABCCBSNBCMSNBCNYTLAT and others treated Bush. Actually if you happen to watch Fox you would find that they are pushing for Obama to succeed. What you will not find is Fox kissing Obama's ass like ABCCBSNBCMSNBCNYTLAT and others. And please don't confuse cometary for factual news. I have seen many here that do just that. And that goes for both sides.

"Actually if you happen to watch Fox you would find that they are pushing for Obama to succeed."

Doesn't everyone want him to though? I would think even Republicans do. Things aren't going well out in the country right now. If he succeeds we'll all be doing better.

Thought I don't like the idea of the Press pushing for a political figure to succeed I understand that desire to see him do so.

You seem afraid that Fox and others will treat Obama the same way ABCCBSNBCMSNBCNYTLAT and others treated Bush. #45 | Posted by KBM

Get used to that--indecisiveness doesn't go far.

Carter didn't oversee an economy which saw trillions (that's trillions) of dollars of individuals' personal wealth vanish almost overnight.

George W. Bush did.

Good luck with that whole "Carter this" and "Carter that."

Hans

"Carter is the reason Ronald Reagan won the election in 1980 and 1984 and took 44 & 49 states respectively."

And Nixon took 49 states in 1972 and look where that got us as a nation.

You're not very bright, are you?

(Rhetorical question, the answer is obvious.)

Hans

"GWB: Worst President Ever"

I think this opinion will die off over time. People are really upset with President Bush right now for his many mistakes, but there have been such monumental failures and criminals in the White House before Bush that I doubt he'll be considered the worst of all time.

"Uhh, no during the Carter years they couldn't get or afford mortgages as interest rates were 21%+,"

Yes we did have high interest rates in an attempt by Paul Volker to combat the inflation left behind by the Nixon/Ford administration. It was a hard time, by the way, Reagan kept Volker and the high interest rates for three more years til inflation was under control. Then the brilliant Reagan passed huge tax cuts and left the country 3 trillion in debt and caused it to go from the largest creditor nation in the world to be the largest debtor nation in the world. His policies, gleefully followed by Bush 1 and 2 have resulted in 11 trillion in debt and a destroyed manufacturing industry and a failing economy.
But you go on in your ignorance, repeat right wing talking points about Carter while your country implodes from the Republican leadership these past 28 years.

LOL. A failed economy????? That is too funny. In 1983, my parents sold their first house in Hazlet, Nj for $60,000 and bought a new construction house in Colts Neck, NJ for $300,0000. Today that house is worth between $900,000-$1,000,000. If it wasn't for such the high interest rates on mortgages, my parents could have built a bigger house. By the way, the mortgage on that house is completely paid off.

Maybe if you turned off the TV and got a real job in the 80's, you wouldn't still be looking for a handout

"implodes from the Republican leadership these past 28 years.

Not to nitpick, but its only been 20 years.

Yeah, let's see you sell it in this economy.
