Get ready for weeks and weeks of grandstanding by Illinois democrats who don't have a leg to stand on when it comes to "ethics." And to retain their power over the subject senate seat, they're not going to strip Blago of his authority to appoint the new senator. Politics as usual here.

Agreed, Joe. Given the circumstances, the people should choose in a special election.

Get ready for weeks and weeks of grandstanding by Illinois republicans who don't have a leg to stand on when it comes to "ethics." And to attain power over the subject senate seat. Politics as usual here.

He should resign. There's no way the impeachment process won't find him guilty, and he's just wasting time and taxpayer money by staying in office.

COM`ON.HE JUST NEEDED SOME EXTRA MONEY....THE STATE DOESN`T PAY HIM ENOUGH...

The sooner his tuckus is in jail, the better!

Let him share a cell with OJ.

Somebody should advice the Illinois Governor to resign, cop a plea, do time in one of those play gulf places, move to New York, become a Wall Street stock broker salesman, swindle investors out of billions, and then apply for a job as a lecturer at Harvard University. He may even be able to negotiate to become the Senator from New York State. Both states have the bests of great and honest politicians. It appears that a high number of Democrats of today attended the opening, many, many years ago, of the movie: The Remarkable Mr. Pennypacker. Talk about living in two different worlds! Both seemingly honestly, happily, and full of goodness, but both complete built upon lies.

Apparently Illinois Democrats let him maintain his power to appoint.

GOOD GOD, the corruption here in this state know no end...

Maybe this state will turn to a red state after this is all said and done. I doubt it with the Chicago political Machine.

And TKO, the Democrats have pretty much controlled this state and it is in shambles right now. the budget is destroyed, the corruption is horrible and the governor is F'ing nuts.

the Democrats have pretty much controlled this state

I could have sworn the last governor (who went to prison) was George Ryan (R). The other two indicted before him were Republican.

"I could have sworn the last governor (who went to prison) was George Ryan (R). The other two indicted before him were Republican."

If you knew anything about Illinois politics, you'd know that a "Republican" here is like a "right-winger" in France. George Ryan pushed through billions in new spending just like any good democrat would do.

America Unity, thats right, Im talking currently. RYAN was a reject moron as well.

Joe,
With the exception of a few tools sucking up to him for that senate seat, the dems will be deserting Blagojevich here once this impeachment party really gets started. Fitzgeralds presser and the ensuing media party was enuff to scare away the most corrupt of Chicago pols when it comes to Blago. He's done.

Someone needs to tell Nancy Pelosi about this - impeachment begins with considering the allegations against an officeholder. She keeps saying she won't do anything about Bush and Cheney because she hasn't seen any proof of any wrongdoing.

Of course, you don't find what you don't look for...

Funny headlines:

"Obama clears himself and staff in Blagojevich case" www.latimes.com

"Rahm's calls on tape
The Blago scandal . . ."
"President-elect Barack Obama's chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, is reportedly on 21 different taped conversations by the feds -- dealing with his boss' vacant Senate seat!"
www.suntimes.com

And which report will be on MSNBC tonight?

President-elect Barack Obama's chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, is reportedly on 21 different taped conversations by the feds -- dealing with his boss' vacant Senate seat

Nothing inappropriate with that. What you'd expect.

Move along.

Lets see. The guys that shot at our guys on the battle field, without a uniform deserve to be innocent until proven guilty, and have to have a trial.Jefferson who was caught with hundred of thousands in his fridge is not forced to step down.but Blago does not deserve one (and notice none of the main stream media point out he is a Dem) and needs to be impeached right awayand the logic is.I forgot this is the left wing..no logic just whatever it takes to keep you in power.

By the way American - Obama said originally that nobody had talked to Blago about the seat...but he lied about that.. I know you would like everyone to move along..but you guys would be screaming about "chimpy" and Rove and inventing all sorts of plots if this was Bush. But like I said above ..to you guys it is all about power...not what is right for the country.

betting Blagojevich has a lot of aces to play yet, plus a pit bull for a lawyer and like the gitmo freedom fighters he needs his day in court.

NBC Nightly News just reported Jesse Jackson, Jr. was an informant for Patrick Fitzgerald the last two years.

"President-elect Barack Obama's chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, is reportedly on 21 different taped conversations by the feds -- dealing with his boss' vacant Senate seat"

"Nothing inappropriate with that. What you'd expect."

I would expect this from Rahm. He is scum of the same manner, order, and magnitude as Blago. The curroption in IL doesnt just stay in the Political ring either. Google Glenn Poshard Plagerism. Fucking scum fuck gets the Presidency of my old college(SIU) and he staight up copied like 5 pages verbatum without citation/refrance/or quotation marks in his Doctoral Theisis and claims "It was a accepted style at the time", WTF.

GOTTRUTH

He did nothing that isn't usual and customary in filling a vacant Senate seat. You consider making suggestions about who should fill it inappropriate? Ha ha ha ha ha

Emmanuel's the one who offered only 'appreciation' for Blagojevich's consideration, to which Blago was overheard on wiretaps saying, "This thing is gold. All they're willing to offer is appreciation? Fuck them!".

You're welcome.

pulled the plug just when the big fish were nibbling.

"Emmanuel's the one who offered only 'appreciation' for Blagojevich's consideration, to which Blago was overheard on wiretaps saying, "This thing is gold. All they're willing to offer is appreciation? Fuck them!"."

This only what has been aleged, we will have to wait and hear the tapes to see. We only have heard a sound bite of ONE out of 21.

Old Rahm is a chicago political scumbag. Its not called the "Windy City" because of the north wind.

Like I have said, I do belive Obama is clean in this one. Not so sure about Rahm. I'm waiting to hear the wire taps in their whole. Not just a sound bite the validates one point or another. I dont play those games.

From the article:

They (the Democrats) adjourned until Jan. 12, without advancing a plan to hold a special election to fill the Senate seat.

From news.yahoo.com

At a news conference in Chicago Tuesday, Obama sidestepped a question about whether he supported a special election.

The Illinois Democrats are really jumping at this aren't they? Oh yeah 0bama is as decisive as he ever was. LMFAO

"He did nothing that isn't usual and customary in filling a vacant Senate seat."

Where are you getting your information that what he did is "usual and customary" under the circumstances? Are you privy to some sort of guidelines or examples that indicate that this is the custom? Further, you haven't heard the phone calls yet and neither has anyone else, which proves you are just taking Obama's description of the calls to be legit at face value without asking questions. Is it tiring to carry his water 24/7?

Every time there's an open Senate seat in a state that doesn't mandate a special election phone calls fill the air. Usual and customary.

If there had been inappropriate conversations Fitzgerald would have said so. He said the opposite regarding Obama.

Just the other day when this broke several here were INSISTING Jesse jackson, Jr. MUST have been dirty dealing. Turns out he was working with Fitzgerald in putting a case together against Blagojevich the last two years. Blagojevich is charged with much more than the Senate deals he was proposing, and that no one else is accused of any wrongdoing over.

Well I think if there was ever any dirty laundry in Obama's past, it's going to come out when Blago start's singing for the feds. This also proves there is no honor among liberal politicians. I mean if Obama did in fact help get Blago elected, you'd think he'd appoint Obama's pick just on principle.

I'm not saying that Obama had any part in Blago's crime but if he did anything shady in the past, I'm sure he'll talk to the feds about it. The feds always like to have bigger fish to fry.

Lonnie

You do know that this investigation has been going on for years, since the initial investigation of Tony Rezko. And at every turn prosecutors have made it clear that Obama isn't a target of the investigation, hasn't been implicated in any wrongdoing, and at no point have there even been any allegations of impropriety.

Would it just be THAT painful for some of you (since the whole birth certificate thing didn't work out so well) if he was actually innocent of any wrongdoing here?

I don't doubt that Obama is clean, the same way Richard Daley is clean. He just has people around him do the dirty work and he isn't stupid enough to talk on the phone about it. You don't rise the way he did in Chicago and Illinois by playing clean.

And yet we read story after story of how Obama traveled in different circles from guys like Blagojevich in Illinois politics. The Daly political machine, including Blago, even backed Obama's opponent in the Senate primary race.

Obama has mishandled this very badly.

How?

"And yet we read story after story of how Obama traveled in different circles from guys like Blagojevich in Illinois politics. The Daly political machine, including Blago, even backed Obama's opponent in the Senate primary race."

What stories are those? Obama was and is tight with Emanuel - so was Blagojevich. Obama and Emanuel both backed Blagojevich for governor. Emanuel took over Blagojevich's House seat, they took on many issues together and helped each other politically. Rezko was one of Obama's fundraisers and they participated in a very bizarre real estate transaction. Rezko was also joined at the hip with Blagojevich and was part of just about all of his "pay to play" scandals.

If you want to pretend that Obama didn't come out of the same swamp as the rest of these scumbags, that's fine. Being from Illinois and reading about the shit on a daily basis, I know better.

Joe proves party above country again.

Your "hating america" bullshit is beyond old.

The dummie sprung the trap too soon to save his job and cover the crime that was about to happen. Impeachment will be the only way to get the guy.

Your "party above country" is proven post after post.

Nixon knew Kruschev for 12 years--Nixon must be a commie.

Joes logic.
