As long as New Yawkas want her in there, and I'm sure we'll get their opinions, why should anyone else care?

Caroline and Hillary are really hot!! Not as sexy as Babs Bush, but HOT!!

I'll drink to that! -Uncle Ted

Corky. Stop putting words in my mouth. Caroline Kennedy looks like she fought Jack Daniels and lost. Hillary is hot!!!!!

So... we'll assume Babs is still Numero Uno.

Here's the CNN article

hwww.cnn.com

Shoot!

YAY!

1. Her uncle previously held the seat.
2. She's a Kennedy.

Sounds qualified to me!

Be Well.

I wonder what sort of quid pro quo the kennedy family offered???

NEW YORK STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL ANDREW M. CUOMO would be a much better appointment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would be interested to hear what New Yorkers have to say about it.

Anyone else, not so much.

Caroline Kennedy has less experience than Obama.

I WONDER if libs will scream about her lack of experience and attack her family like they did with Palin.

Typo should read "Caroline Kennedy has more experience than Obama."

FWTHOM

No. Everybody knows Kennedy.

What's known about Palin is that she's a kook.

FREECHOICE: Your right!

I WONDER if libs will scream about her lack of experience and attack her family like they did with Palin.

Of course not, she is on their team.

LEE,

You shouldn't say the word KOOK too loudly because the men from the asylum may throw the net over you and your kooky lib friends.

I WONDER if libs will scream about her lack of experience and attack her family like they did with Palin.

Larry Craig is said to be pursuing Teddy Kennedy's seat.

Since it's a dem seat, it can be bought. Caroline can use the money her grandfather made bootlegging..

Caroline can use the money her grandfather made bootlegging,

Kind of like McCain's trollopy cunt of a wife.

Boaz you aren't intelligent enough to serve in the senate. I had plenty of CO's like you that I had to bust my ass to make look good. You probably treat your enlisted men like shit and take all the glory.

I'm excited about the prospect of Caroline Kennedy becoming a senator, but I'd prefer she got the job via election rather than appointment. She has a distinguished career as an attorney and education fundraiser, but how hard would it be to make a name for yourself in charitable fundraising if you're a Kennedy?

Blow it out your ass pussyninja...

You probably got kicked out for failure to adapt or mental problems. You arent intelligent enough to speak to me...

TELL IT BOAZ, TELL IT.

2 Thumbs Up for Boaz's #31

Larry

Boaz takes a bow..

"TELL IT BOAZ, TELL IT."

That should be: "surreptitiously record it with your hidden cell phone, boaz, surreptitiously record it."

Hans

Hey larry,

Who would you recommend get the New York seat? Anyone else?

I'm getting tired of people like you Hans, prove it or mind your business.

I would recommend someone from the RAMS, but we arent doing to well this year...

OOrah,

I MT Tabor could beat the rams...we could elect one of them to the seat..

Either Caroline Kennedy or Fran Dresher.

Larry

Good call Larry...

I would say Fran before Kennedy...

I bet LISA would recommend Brett Favre.

#38 | Posted by OohRah

Hell, Deanna has more experience than Caroline. Of course, Neil Diamond didn't know her or "Sweet Deanna" would have stayed on the charts longer...

"I'm getting tired of people like you Hans, prove it or mind your business."

Okay:

You need to mind your business, Briwo. That was between me and someone else and not you. Then again, comments like that show you for what you really are. Glad I know now. I am done with you.

#72 | Posted by boaz at 2008-11-09 10:02 PM

You're welcome.

Hans

Hans is a douche!

I'd like to propose a toas Zzzzzzzzz. -Joan Kennedy

Now Hans, I haven't jumped into this but as regards the following from the same thread you linked to:

"So although you are an alleged "christian" you see nothing wrong with a woman driving 1500 miles so you two can committ adultery while you secretly videotape her?" Briwo

Lisa didn't drive, she flew, and watched the video without asking that it be erased. And adultery is like the tango...it always takes two.

So Brian's outrage is misplaced, perhaps even feigned, but then I'm not saying that you and he should let Boaz off the hook. To the contrary. Just that if you're going to plea a woman's honor you should make sure she has some.

Fine, give it to her, BUT in exchange for complete transparency of her moral character. In other words, who does she think killed her father and uncle while wired to a lie detector.

Can we just say NO to nepotism and political aristocracy?

Caroline can use the money her grandfather made bootlegging..

#23 | Posted by fwthom

Yeah - let's make sure we don't look at the woman herself and see what kind of person she is, or what she has done in her life, or accomplished in her career.

Way back in the day, the US Senate was the Federal representatives of each State's government. The US House of Representatives were the Federal representatives of each State's citizens. The 17th Amendment in 1912 changed that for some crazy reason. Today, the State's have no representation in the Federal Government.

Since the US Senate is now a redundant representation of the citizen's of each State, as long as those citizens believe their Senator represents them, it's their business.

With the trend towards electing culturally popular, monopoly representatives in lieu of qualified, monopoly representatives, it's always entertaining to witness those pop stars in action. If you consider that they will be either a Democrat or a Republican, it really doesn't matter who the individual is as long as they tow the party line.

The Reason why the 17th Amendment was made was because of North Dakota's trying to sell the Senate Seats to the Highest Bidder. The Federal Government Stepped in and quashed the idea of Senators representing the States and not the citizenry.

Larry

I didn't know that...well, now I know. Thx Larry.

Larry

Well, not exactly. But it is true that there was tremendous corruption involved in most state legislatures for decades regarding the election of Senators and sentiment had been building for some time to change the system.

In fact, by 1912, prior to the passage of 17, 29 states had already moved to some form of popular election.

Spare yourself Lib GI and don't listen to the MohrOn.

There were problems having the state legislatures elect Senators, and sometimes they deadlocked and didn't send a senator to Congress. Naturally there were allegations of malfeasance, vote buying, etc., back to pre-Civil war days. It was Oregon that first allowed popular vote.

North Dakota had little to with the reform. The system was corrupt and finally got changed.

It was just on the news Mike Siesel. Oh and nice denigrating of My family name. We all know You are a NO class SOB.

Larry

We didn't even elect Senators until early last century, right?

Com'on Larry. I know you don't like him personally, but it's no reason to post his name.

Seriously.

Yes there is, adding a couple of letters to your name isn't in the same league as far as being offensive, as going to a funeral and telling the bereaved that there loved one deserved to die and is now burning in hell.

When she endorsed Obama she said that he was the first presidential candidate that inspired her the way her father had inspired people. That seemed odd since she was of voting age when her uncle Teddy ran in 1980. I guess Teddy didn't even inspire his own family.

Goody, Goody! Libs all over are wetting themselves. Christmas came early for the left this year.

Imagine that. An appointed governor picking someone for the Senate that was never elected toany state political position. I can't wait when she has to run for re-election in a year. UIt should be fun to watch

"Imagine that. An appointed governor picking someone for the Senate..."

I do believe Mr. Paterson was elected Lieutenant Governor.

In NY State, a Lt. governor candidate is picked by the candidate running for governor to be on his ticket. People voted for Spitzer and Patterson rode his coat tails. Patterson is only Governor because Spitzer couldn't control his urges for a jersey girl with big hair. Patterson most likely will not win re-election. It would be amusing if he appointed Kennedy and they both lost their "re-election".

The election is in 2 years so she'll have to start running for that seat as soon as she is appointed.

If NY'ers want her, who else's business is it?

"-The election is in 2 years so she'll have to start running for that seat as soon as she is appointed."

Well, when she was little, her father was president so she's had MUCH more experience than Obama and Palin combined...right?

We both had men in our life who let the wrong head do the thinking. -Hillary

Nice try Timmy, but Paterson was elected to office, just like the Vice President is.

SanAn, you know what happens when you cloud their little minds with facts....

I imagine she has as much political experience going in as Ahnold! or Jesse Ventura.

This is just a chance for Kennedy-bashing that the droolers can't pass up.

No, no...I'm looking for the "CHANGE" we've been promised. All I keep seeing is Clintons and Bushes. When does the "CHANGE" start? After all, I voted for a Kennedy 48 years ago.

Certainly not experience.

If NY'ers want her, who else's business is it?

That is how the process works and I am for it.

What is funny is that the extreme left wing kooks believe that she might represent their values.

She doesn't.

she will be an establishment politician who won't challenge anything IMO.

furthermore, she will be a constant reminder that there is little difference between the 2 parties.

"When does the 'CHANGE' start?"

Ahh yes. Another one who can't quite grasp the concept that change is what you do, not who you are.

"SanAn, you know what happens when you cloud their little minds with facts...."

Hey, Dan, my ol' unemployed actor buddy. Which part are you assuming for us on the DR today?

#87 | Posted by wisgod

What experience do you think she needs to have?

She's been a successful attorney, author, and business woman. She's raised a nice family, none of whom (including her) have ever been in trouble. From all reports she's an intelligent and sensible woman.

True, she's never been elected to political office before, but for the life of me I can't see that necessarily as a negative.

I watched Grey's Anatomy last week. Can I be a surgeon?

"Ahh yes. Another one who can't quite grasp the concept that change is what you do, not who you are."

LOL... we know who you are and what you do. We just want to know when you'll change what you DO, 'cause you sure ain't changin' who you ARE.

Nope sorry. Patterson ran on the same ticket as Spitzer

I'd call Hillary Clinton as Sec of State change from the Bush admin, wouldn't you?

Only if you also slept at a Holiday Inn Express.

The fact is that Spitzer was heavily favored to win in 2006 and Patterson owes everything to Spitzer. He should probably support him when Spitzer runs for Attorney General in queens next year

What experience do you think she needs to have?

Posted by SanAntonioRogue

Oh, maybe budget, infrastructure, security, military, national econnomics, energy, foreign policy....
The senate has been known to make policy on these issues.

"Which part are you assuming for us on the DR today?"

As an actor who needs to get to his performance.

I'm sure my fellow castmates will be surprised to hear I'm unemployed. I'll be sure to tell them; we always like to laugh at Alzheimers-ridden old men like you, Jest.

Ah I guess Sanantonio is too much of a liberal to ever admit he is wrong. sorry son but NY state Lt. Governors run as part of the governor ticket

"I'd call Hillary Clinton as Sec of State change from the Bush admin, wouldn't you?"

OK, I got it. You and your little friends are just talking about changing jobs, not changing people or politics. What are you gonna appoint BILL Clinton to do? And Chelsea?

"The lieutenant governor is elected on a ticket with the governor for a four year term."

en.wikipedia.org

I was incorrect. My apologies.

I like Bubba as Sec of Fine Cigars.

Danforth - even though the Lt. Gov. is elected on the ticket with the Governor, he is still considered to have been elected. Just like the Vice President is elected on a ticket with the President. You wouldn't say the Vice President is "appointed to office".

"I'm sure my fellow castmates will be surprised to hear I'm unemployed."

That's the nice thing about the DR. You can be anybody and anything you want. I'm just wondering how such a busy actor can spend so much time on the DR. Not bitchin', mind you. You do a fine Larry, Moe and Curly for our enjoyment. Just don't try to pass yourself off as Tom Hanks or someone like that though.

"That's the nice thing about the DR. You can be anybody and anything you want."

I'm not wrong Timmy. Members of a ticket are BOTH elected. Just like the President and Vice President.

Got the joke. Joking back duh!

Sorry son but when people go to the voting booth they are voting for the candidate running for governor NOT lt. governor. In 2006, Spitzer won because of his press grabbing headlines as AG not because Patterson was minority leader in the Senate. No one heard of Patterson; everyone knew who Spitzer was

Well the change is already started and Obama is not even in. This is going to take longer.... that is going to take longer....its all going to take longer... But I will still try reduction in taxes...HaHaHaHaHa.

What's this about Boaz taping some broad he banged, and why does anyone even know about it?

Doesn't matter "son". The ticket is elected. Get thee back to Civics 101.

wll there are several dems in NY who are questioning this annoitment arent there?

saw interview with a couple of dems who are actually bucking this move....I guess they arent scared of a family who got rich off of bootlegging and political appointments a WHOLE LOT LIKE CHICAGO APPOINTMENTS.............

"You wouldn't say the Vice President is "appointed to office"."

You're right. I stand corrected, again.

and oh yeah one more thing

I guess the people who want caroline to get this seat arent any of the ones who were worried about another bush or clinton in power

isnt this the same problem...isnt this also one of the reasons that we broke with england as well as taxation without representation

( WOW>>>I cant believe I just typed that...I wonder how that came out anyway because it sure seems like we really DIDNT take care of that taxation problem after all,did we.)

' I'm just wondering how such a busy actor can spend so much time on the DR"

I'm not onstage every minute, and I usually work in theatres with Wi-Fi. Sometimes I post between entrances.

"Just don't try to pass yourself off as Tom Hanks or someone like that though."

I never have, and that's not the first time you've made that reference. If you had any memory left, I'm sure you would have recalled, but seeing as how you're in the early-to-middle stages of losing your faculties, I guess I'll just have to keep reminding you, old man.

I want Kennedy, if nothing else to drive the wingnuts crazy.

Larry Craig is said to be pursuing Teddy Kennedy's seat.

His official position seat or his pant's seat?

Gosh I read this thread and it seems that selling of Senate seats is not a new endeavor, but was a practice so prevalent it led to a constitutional amendment providing for direct election of Senators. One columnist noted that seats may be exchanged for promises of something of value as such trading of benefits is the essence of politics, but the benefit cannot be a monetized benefit.

I've got it now. Trading benefits of some sort for benefits is okay. But the transaction needs to be complicated, so that the money derived from the deal comes later.

It is amusing to witness the uproar over the purported desire of the Illinois Governor to benefit monetarily from exercise of his power, yet something as downright direct as Michelle Obama's pay raise from $121,910 in 2004 to $316,962 in 2005 immediately following her husband's election to the U.S. Senate somehow does not violate the Byzantine "rules."

Wow, imagine her getting a promotion from Executive Director of Community Affairs to Vice President for Community Affairs. Horrible! Not like she didn't have any experience in the same hospital as Exec Director.

Of course, graduating cum laude from Princeton and Harvard Law School should preempt anyone from ever getting a promotion.

It's disturbing that the senior U.S. Senator from New York is not prepared to show the proper deference to the Kennedy clan and resign his post also, so that Carolyn Kennedy can be the "senior" U.S. Senator from New York.

We do need to get away from the idea that someone without family connections can aspire to exercising political influence. It's a bailiwick for the connected, who then sell their services when properly persuaded of the "rectitude" of proposed legislation based on the criterion of "what have you done for me lately." Being a member of a political family provides an apprenticeship, so that with a sense of noblesse oblige, the family member can better "serve the people."

Are we establishing a sort of nobility with a de facto succession based on "blood," and confining political domination to some powerful families.

The U.S. masses love celebrity. With our culture, the uninformed, who constitute the majority of the people, can be readily swayed by use of sophisticated methods of persuasion to select completely unqualified nincompoops as representatives.

If endorsement by an athlete, or an entertainer, or a rock star, or an Oprah can cause a person to abandon evaluation of the positions of a candidate as it relates to his own, rather than the endorser's situation, then we have what we have in the United States today, and we may be descending into a Hugo Chavez "bread and circuses" decadence. We won't have a democracy with an informed public choosing leaders, but an ignormocracy, where the ignorant are manipulated, and power resides in the hands of the manipulators.

"The Man With A Hoe" is maniplulated to serve the purposes of the political classes, and to go through the ceremonial rite of installing leaders into public office. It's cheaper to buy 'em than to occupy the offices. Lobbyists holding sway with their buddies. Forsaking the public good? What's new? It's quite a system that we've developed.

What is most amusing are the militant leftists who view the incoming administration as a departure from what went before. It's the structure. Dispense with the illusions. Move the obscuring cobwebs.

The Democrat polical clans are numerous, the Kennedys, the Pelosis, the ... Ah, who cares. The names may change, but the game remains the same. Name the Democrat and Republican sinecures.

"I'm obsessed over the thought of a Kennedy getting into politics. Might be the psychotropic drugs I take. Why isn't this wall moving when I bang my head against it."

We hate the Kenndy's.
Sincerely, Pole Dancer's with a slot who accept half-dollars.

Pedigree counts for something.

Interesting, Paterson got the Lt. Gov's nod based on his daddy's prominence in politics, and Caroline gets the nod based on her family's prominence in politics, and the liberals seem quite pleased with this idea of succession to political power based on family ties in preference to a meritocracy, and participation of a broader swath of the people in political leadership.

We're degenerating into a nation analogous to warlords with family fiefdoms.

What does Caroline bring to Paterson? Well, access to Obama, and money to help New York. New York is an extravagant state, but has suffered a loss of income due to the impact of the economic decline on the financial sector. Yet it does not seem to plan to curtail spending. It's analogous to California after the dot com bubble burst, but which continued reckless spending.

Of course, Caroline can secure lots of campaign funding and could help elect a Paterson-Governor, Kennedy-Senator ticket. He's never run for Governor at the head of the ticket, and she has never run for ...

The lefties seem to gloat over the new mode of succession. But then, they are masochists and delight from figuratively cutting off their noses to spite their faces. Adulators. Hero worshippers. And the hero need not have any qualities, just be a blank slate, and they'll imbue him with whatever qualities they find appealing.

Obama swam in the sewer of Cook County politics, where the politicians blatantly reveal their desire for self-gain. Examples. Despite Revko fixing a price on a property, dividing and buying an unbuilt portion of a lot, so Obama could buy the rest of the lot with the house on it, with the owner selling the entire property for the price he required ... and Obama's share of the cost for the portion with the house on it being low enough for him to afford it. Oh, just a coincidence. No political skulduggery. And despite Michelle's increase in value as an employee more than doubled upon Obama's election to the U.S. Senate, he's not benefiting from his political position. Got it. He's clean.

The lefties enjoy this because they enjoy living under a corrupt system so long as the pols mouth statements that the lefties enjoy hearing. Got it. So long as righties also need to live under corrupt leftist governance, then that provides the lefties with satisfaction suffiicent to override any discomfort they might experience because of their role in electing and also living under a corrupt regime.

The Cook County political sewer will fertilize the entire nation.
