I'm sure Keith Olbermann's team is working to get an interview with this journalist.

You know Bush should celebrate this and tell how he brought freedom of the press to Iraq.

Threw a shoe at Bush?

That's a waterboarding!

Anybody else remember the use of shoes when Saddam's statue came down?

You know during that pre-arranged bit of pro war propaganda where Saddam's statue was torn down and then the image replayed over and over on the MSM until it became a zeitgeist meme?

The Iraqis started smacking the statue of Saddam with their shoes, which Spud found kinda oddish at the time. Later on imagery of Iraqis smacking posters of Saddam with their shoes was also shown unceasingly.

Apparently in the ME being hit with a shoe has certain negative connotations that we in the west don't quite grok completely.

If he really wanted to be understood by Dumbya he shoulda just given him the finger.

/Purple or otherwise.

Be Well.

Dang looks like the Secret Service didn't wait until 1/20/08 to send in the second team guys.

Hey all the promises of parades and throwing flowers maybe the Iraqis are finally getting the idea..

they were probably made out of chocolate.

What happened to all the "adoring crowds" hand picked to greet him?

A shoe is a weapon?@! BAN SHOES NOW!!! SAVE THE CHILDREN!!!!

The Legacy Tour continues!!!! Winnin' the hearts and minds!

Purple fingers and Victory all around!

Open up the crates of Medals of Freedom and start passin' the darn things out!

Now where's my pardon pen?

"You know during that pre-arranged bit of pro war propaganda where Saddam's statue was torn down"

I missed the news story that provided the evidence it was a staged. Serously, if it WAS staged, please post the story link. I would love to read it. Beeing serious here. Not trying to argue. would just like the facts you have.

The Decider guy sneaks and smirks his hour upon the stage, and tells his idiot tale.

pretty good arm. maybee the yankmees should throw a few mil at him.

lucky the Blackwater boys weren't pulling guard. that mofo would've been put to sleep right-quick.

1:38 of my life wasted. I watched it. I was hoping the motherfucker would have at least clocked 43. Call me antisocial-

I DON'T CARE!

Considering how many people that fucker is responsible for killing in Iraq, he's lucky it was only a shoe. Dumbass probably doesn't even know how much of an insult that was to him...thanks, Republicans, for foisting this retard on us for 8 years.

It looks like Bush is popular over there too!

Bush is just lucky Imelda Marcos wasn't in the audience.

Maybe he just wanted to be a "shoe-in" for another interview with Bush, and thought that actually throwing his shoes was a good way to express this desire. Language barrier? LOL

Larry your so funny. Like you think you blowing my mind or something. I'm not a pants pissing Lib or con and Its not that i didnt take you serioulsy, just wanted the paper. I figured the statue was a target from the planning stages. In all though ya its true from what I can read.(next time pick one article please.) I'm not overly suprised by this.

Well, it was something-- On the other hand, I would have paid good money to see the whole room follow suit and pelt him with their shoes!

Nice duck.

Does ducking a pair of shoes count as Iraq war experience for Bush? Will Iraqis be throwing shoes at Obama next year? Probably, because Israel already owns Obama as evidenced by picking criminal Rahm Emanuel, the son of an Israeli terrorist, as Chief of Staff. Obama will probably let Mossad slide on their 9/11 involvement and Obama will continue Middle East wars. So who will be ducking shoes next year? Mr. Change, Obama.

WWSD (What would Shoe-by Do)?

That guy wasn't Tosser was it?

Here you go Gottruth.

Staged, I really doubt it this is an embarrassment mostly for Bush but for the Iraqis as well.

Thankfully it ended well, at least I hope it did, is the reporter still alive?

T-shirt for Bush:

"I Liberated Iraq and all I got were Two Shoes"

The Iraqi was just trying to show Dubya that His shoes "Souls" were way better than Dubya's and Cheney's. That's all.

Larry

What a heel.

Why don't we have any brave American journalists?

Who among them will cast the first shoe?

(Hint: at the next press conference.)

#35 | Posted by aclusux

Why should he have gone?

After McCain's visit last year - declaring Iraq safe - while wearing a flak jacket, protected by Blackhawk helicopters and 150 troops armed to the teeth, why should Olbermann believe Iraq is anything but flowers and chocolates safe?

"This is a gift from the Iraqis. This is the farewell kiss, you dog," the journalist shouted (in Arabic).

The man threw the second shoe and added: "This is from the widows, the orphans and those who were killed in Iraq."

Yeah, those arn't real Iraqis. God Americans are so dumb.

#36 | Posted by Eddie

Every bit as real as the grateful American-Iraqis running down the street waving an American flag in 2003.

The Iraqis, of course, were being paid by the Administration to do this.

In fairness this guy had more balls than Pelosi or Reid have.

I'm not sure this isn't the same guy McToast bought those carpets from (5 for $5 in baghdad.) Maybe Johnnyboy slipped him a twenty to get back at Bush for torpedoing his Presidential dreams twice?

Larry beat you to it HotSouce.

And EDDIE has a point too.

I know it was OP and all, but to think that statue was not a Target from the word go is just plain stupid. Ya there are Psy-Ops, expect hundreds of them in the next 4 years. No one will point them out as Ops, but they will happen.

By the way has anyone seen the story about what some real Patriots did to those facist Georgia Guidstones?

"Mission Accomplished"

Clearly not a lame duck.

The Saddam Hussein Statue was planned to be taken down by the Administration. The Idea came from the toppling of the Shah of Iran i believes statue in Iran when they got rid of Him during their liiberation in the 1970's. Ironic Don'tcha think??

Larry

What a brave journalist! Where the hell has this "great reporter" been all this time? How come he did not throw a shoe at Sadam Hussein when he was in power? Specially when all those Kurds, men, women, and children, where poisoned by weapons of mass..., excuse me, by Kool Aid dunked Tweenkies? Thie reporter is right up there with the bests, like Keith, Chris, and others. He should immediately be hired by MSNBC, and the shoes should be encased in glass and displayed in the lobby of the network, with a plaque that reads: "We, K and C, have smelled the insides of these shoes, and we can attest that the Iraqi reporter that owned them, and threw them at Pres. Bush is a very valiant reporter, and has triple AAA "T's."

** best Ed Sullivan imitation **

And now, right here on our blogstage we have a really big shoe for you all...

Especially ironic when you consider that both the Shah of Iran and Saddam Husein were installed and supported by the US throughout the worst of their atrocities including mass use of secret police, horrific torture and, in Saddam's case the use of WMD on his own people.

/WMD supplied by the US's own Donny Rumsfeld via Reagan with bombing co-ordinates provided by American AWACs.

President Bush has excellent ducking skills!

#40 | Posted by halo3

He learned them skills during the Vietnam war.

Be Well.

Hilarious, heartfelt honesty,

Bush was in his very best form when he ducked.

As big of a mistake the Iraq War was, the Iraqis and their sectarian conflicts caused the majority of death and destruction. We never should have been there but this idiot should be throwing shoes at his countrymen. But then again that would have cost him his head.

GREENDAD

Cheney himself predicted sectarian strife and chaos would have occured in 1991 if we'd invaded with 650,000 troops. We went in with 150,000 and somehow he assumed matters would be different?

I dont like Bush or the job he did but good for him backing off the Secret Service. This guy wasnt a real threat, and having him removed by his security would probably remind people of Hussein.

I'm not saying they did a good job. They didnt. just that the majority of the death in Iraq was caused by Iraqis. Thats undeniable.

No argument from me.

"just that the majority of the death in Iraq was caused by Iraqis. Thats undeniable."

Still, that sounds like "it was the sticks of dynamite that did the actual damage...all we did was light the fuse."

They didnt. just that the majority of the death in Iraq was caused by Iraqis. Thats undeniable.

That is bullshit.

It really gets back to something I think Powell said early on, You Break it You own it.

That includes Collateral Damage. Preemptive war is just plain wrong.

"That is bullshit."

Really? Was it American soldiers driving truck bombs into crowded markets? No of course it wasn't.

We never should have stepped foot in Iraq, but just because we removed Hussein that doesn't excuse Iraqis murdering each other by the hundreds of thousands, maybe millions. I'm not excusing Bush's mistake or that moron Rumsfeld, and sure if they never went in the sectarian violence doesn't happen, but that doesn't change the fact that the violence was Iraqi-on-Iraqi.

"No one could have foreseen ....."

"Preemptive war is just plain wrong.

So removing a governing body excuses murdering millions of people in your book Zap?

So removing a governing body excuses murdering millions of people in your book Zap?

There are no excuses there is Cause and effect pure and simple.

If the removing of a governing body did not take place would the same events take place exactly as they did.

The answer is obviously no.

President Bush has excellent ducking skills!

No kidding. He ducked that shoe like a ninja. His only mistake was not to return fire.

"There is hope in the eyes of Iraq's young," Bush said. "This is the future of what we've been fighting for." - George W. Bush

Say it again: "THIS IS THE FUTURE OF WHAT WE'VE BEEN FIGHTING FOR"

Anybody want to give this a shot at translation into English?

Has he been listening to Sarah Palin some more, or vice-versa?

"Anybody want to give this a shot at translation into English?"

Going to be pretty nice having a president that can speak without the need for translation..

Say it again: "THIS IS THE FUTURE OF WHAT WE'VE BEEN FIGHTING FOR"

Perhaps Bl2?

I think that Iraqi was speaking for a lot of people. Too bad he had to lose his shoes over it--I hope they were an old pair.

Shoes don't insult people. People who throw shoes insult people.

Yeah.

I wonder if Sam Donaldson is thinking he should have thought of that idea.

. Too bad he had to lose his shoes over it--I hope they were an old pair.

I see da bOoB approves of an assault on the President. Figures.

I may not like the president, but I would never condone an assault on him/her no matter who it was.

Obama will be in office soon. Can't wait to see him get a taste of the real world.

Bush is thankful they were not his socks. Iraqi Journalists only wash them once a season, even if they don't need it.

Finally a Hero!!!

Threw a shoe at Bush? This is really a very good start,if a little too timid and gentle on the part of the thrower! Lets hope this initiates a pattern that more people will join in on and then expand their focus to the entire sleazy,slimy Bush Regime! Let Them Eat Shoes!

Also the shoe thrower should be given the greatest awards that the entire world can offer for he is a "Hero" of the highest order!!!

I don't understand a lot of these posts. I do understand that a lot of people hate Bush and I understand why. But is unbelievable that people condone an attack on the president of the United States, and even thing the perpetrator is a hero!

You know Bush should celebrate this and tell how he brought freedom of the press to Iraq.

I wonder if they gave the guy his shoes back

Probably not for gw is building his library, you know...

The only other time Dumya moves with that kind of purpose is when Guckert orders him to get on all fours.

They were kicking the shit out of the guy down on the floor. It looked like Bush thought it was funny as hell. Did you notice the way he just watched the second shoe and did not duck any more? He was looking at the back of the room seeing the security guys reacting.

"This is a farewell kiss, you dog," he yelled in Arabic. "This is from the widows, the orphans and those who were killed in Iraq."

"And so, the guy wanted to get on TV and he did. I don't know what his beef is"

What, you were expecting W to know why iraqis would hate him? To understand Arabic? To read a news report translating the shoe throwers curses?

Or to do one of those three before opening his mouth?

Seriously, while throwing shoes aint classy, saying "I don't know what his beef is" when the guy is shouting about widows...

W is a moron. He ducks pretty fast though. Almost as fast as he did during nam.

I think Bill Clinton was a little faster at duckin Nam that W. Bill didn't even have to join the National Guard.

Also Kerry pussed out by shooting himself in the ass and Gore hid behind a camera in safe areas because he was the son of a senator.

It would have been a lot more fun to see a reporter throw a shoe at Sadaam. Especially if the video included the guy having his feet cut off just after he has forced to witness his wife and children being killed right in front of him.

That would be so fun to watch!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, so this is our president, and someone attacked him. What, should we feel shocked? Outraged? Because someone dared to attack someone who we feel doesn't deserve our respect?

He's our president, so I'm not going to go out and beat the guy with my size 13s, but at the same time I'm not going to condemn the guy with enough guts (or lack of sense) to attack him.

He's lucky he didn't end up with a bullet in his ass courtesy of the US Secret Service.

Hey Big Time:

I'm sure you fought in 'nam. If not.....close your pie hole.

"It would have been a lot more fun to see a reporter throw a shoe at Sadaam. Especially if the video included the guy having his feet cut off just after he has forced to witness his wife and children being killed right in front of him.

That would be so fun to watch!!!!!!!!!"

Yeah, I know Saddam committed atrocities. But Bush hasn't done much better. So at least he removed that government head, and what did he leave? Not much.

Who was it above who said something like "you break it you buy it"? I mean, even though Saddam clearly was "problematic" I'm pretty sure that he at least had control over his country. We've just replaced him with an insane anarchy, where reporters chuck shoes at foreign leaders.

I sincerely hope the secret service showed him some of their shoes while kicking his ass for being an idiot. Bush & opinions of him aside, any culture who feels throwing shoes to be a show of ultimate contempt while regulary beheading dissents & enslaving their women is beyond help. Where were his journalistic ethics all along? Enjoy your 15 minutes prick. I'm sure he'll get a book deal, lucrative interviews, and positive financial gains in some way or another for this for sometime but I'm sure he never thought of that only his moral outrage. Right. Ironically, Hussein would have murdered his whole family for such an insult so enjoy your US sponsored freedom of the press hypocrite. Bush took it like a man at least and didn't whine. This is the President of the United States like him or not. If it were BO I'd feel the same way. What a tool.

BTW, the Austin Powers post was funny. You beat me to it. I thought about that at the time I first saw this.

Also Kerry pussed out by shooting himself in the ass and Gore hid behind a camera in safe areas because he was the son of a senator.

Gee, Buz.

You forgot Cleland blowing himself up with his own grenade.

Or any other dumbass comment from Coulter.

gdad,

Iraqis using truck bombs and IEDs were freedom fighters, not terrorists. They did not appreciate Rummy's shock and awe, another name for carpet bombing whose primary targets were civilians. Anyone who could afford to fled. Even today 4 million prefer to stay in Syria, Jordan and mess Israel made of Lebanon than return home. But most could not afford to flee and have had to endure losses of jobs and vital services. US bombing was a far more effective system for killing large numbers of people than car bombs or IEDs. Hussien tortured and killed politicial enemies. Bush tortured and killed many more Iraqis in a completely random manner. We have rained terror down on these people who can't wait for us to leave.

If the Shoe Fits (Pure Prairie League)

NUTCASE is the right name

Bush looked into his eyes and saw his sole.

So, could we call this a shoe-icide attack?

(yeah, I blatantly stole that from the Daily News)

Bush looked into his eyes and saw his sole.

Well played.

Hopefully this Iraqi journalist is sent to GITMO before it is closed

I think it would have been cooler if Bush caught it and stared him down. Watching the video he must have amazing reflexes. I'd still have a swoosh on my forehead this morning if I were the target.

But then again, I suppose if you're in Iraq and someone is yelling in Arabic and throws something at you, the wise bet is to duck.

"So, could we call this a shoe-icide attack?

Perhaps a Sneak(er) Attack?

The jokes just keep on coming. The opportunities are endless.

"Perhaps a Sneak(er) Attack?"

Cheers

I secret service should have held the guy down while Bush fed him his size 10 shoes piece by piece. That would have been funny.

"Yep! I'm really sure that statue of Saddam would stil lbe standing, too. I really believe you. I'm just a dumb American.

#38 | Posted by Eddie"

Eddie, I did not imply that statue would still be standing. All I was saying was the scene the media depicted as a spontaneous celebration of Iraqi freedom was actually a staged event set up by US military. It's really a shame too because I imagine that an actual celebration may have occurred eventually had the statue been left standing until a time when Iraqi's were free to bring it down themselves.

However based on your own reflexive unthinking response I cannot disagree with your self-assessment.

"I do understand that a lot of people hate Bush and I understand why. But is unbelievable that people condone an attack on the president of the United States, and even thing the perpetrator is a hero!"

Goatman, do you think it could be that many Iraqi's may feel that same sentiment, you just expressed about Bush, about the US invading their country.

Could you imagine an Iraqi saying "I do understand that a lot of people hate Saddam and I understand why. But is unbelievable that people condone an attack on the president of Iraq, and even think the perpetrators are heros".

Could you imagine an Iraqi saying "I do understand that a lot of people hate Saddam and I understand why. But is unbelievable that people condone an attack on the president of Iraq, and even think the perpetrators are heros".

The sad part is he is more of a hero to the Bush lovers in America.

Kill their familys and countrymen and then we have the gall to act surprise when we are not greeted as liberators.

We have become so stupid, we put our ego in front of normal human feelings.

We had better get it together because the old way of doing business is over. Dictating to the "third world" is bankrupt.

We need a diplomacy that respects the rights of others and their interest along with ours. This "kill them all, let god sort them out" BS is exactly that.

Now South America if forming a political bloc with China and Russia. Wake up America!!!!!

well of course if you had bothered to look into any details of this you would know that bush told them to back off.

and it just amazes me that liberal democrats can get all the way to iraq and make themsleves look like an iraqi meia slut....its only those people who resort to this kind of bullshit.

and yes I know that the shoe was symbolic of the middle eastern distain and insult to whoever it is directed at..

so maybe the iraqi people, if this is representative of many of them werent worth the sacrifice, but I doubt it. I have heard TIME AFTER TIME of iraqis being thankfull for what bush did

you just HAVE TO DIG REALLY DEEP MEDIA wise to find it.

and of course if this had been OBAMA...the media would not be so happy to see prospective and symboloc violence against the president

they would be crying out in outrage about this insult and praising barry for being so atheletic that he got out of the way.

but then thats just par for the course these days

Obama gonna get some used shoes, too...trust me...well, as soon as they release Tosser, anyway:>)

having snow fall on you in Houston in no way validates or invalidates global warming. Global warming does not mean that it will get WARM everywhere. What it does mean that weather patterns will change and become more extreme.

and if you ask me that was a bit of a Lame Duck, surely he knows exactly what this man's beef is... or is he really in denial that much?

Feeling sorry for Dubya Bush? Lets seen now...post-9/11, the Bush administration:

-- declared permanent war without cause;
-- ravaged Iraq and Afghanistan;
-- incited and/or engaged in other direct and proxy wars;
-- militarized the country;
-- enacted repressive police state laws;
-- trashed the rule of law;
-- made human and civil rights a nonstarter;

-- defiled every human dignity imaginable;
-- institutionalized illegal spying and electoral theft;
-- made torture official US policy;

-- criminalized dissent;

-- waged war on working Americans;

-- engineered the largest ever wealth transfer to the rich;
-- turned government into a crime syndicate;
-- looted the national treasury;
-- bankrupted the nation;

-- criminally defrauded the public;
-- and wages a global "Oil War"!

Mission Accomplished!

It seems the media is having multiple orgasums over this shoe throwing incident. This is telling as to what our society will eventually become.

If you throw something at a head of state, chances are you're going to be detained. Why all the fuss?

Everything Bush has touched in his professional life pretty much turned to shit. And to the cowboy hat wearing fat fuck filth that soiled NYC during their visit to the 2004 repub convention -- it's on you.
You horrible shit in human clothing. This man you pulled for, a prolix person who anyone with a sliver of brain and heart could see was a disaster in the making, has done what may be irreparable damage to our country. And still, people defend this walking garbage.
