Did hew go there to defeat the Taliban(i)?

*he*

Did he bring another plastic turkey with him this time too?

A valedictory visit to the site of arguably his greatest failure. Next stops Europe, Florida, New Orleans, Wall Street and Detroit.

Funny how the mass media are calling his visit a surprise visit as if it's some kind of surprise party or surprise bash or something. Perhaps the fact that millions of Iraqis would love to kill him necessitates that he has to go there with no prior media announcement of his visit, hence the so-called "surprise". Well after 8 years of this commander-in-thief, Shrub sneaking like a thief-in-the-night into The Green Zone should not surprise anybody, should it?

The White House lies about where he is going and press are sworn to secrecy so that our Great Leader can visit the country he so nobly "liberated". On the same day we can read how $100 billion was thrown away by ineptitude during the "reconstruction" project which didn't do more than fix some of what we broke. And that recruitment figures for the Iraqi "National Guard" were just made up without regard to reality.

Keep him there, please!

Wonder if he got the super star treament accorded to Iranian President Amandapajamas?

Maybe he was just seeing to the final detals of his victory parade, or getting some of Bowa's deep discounted RudiG thongs...

I hope to God those troops he's addressing boo him up one side and down the other, and that someone captures it on a cell phone and posts it to YouTube.

Publicity stunt for an unprecedented failure. Iraqi have set the terms for our departure. We must not attack their neighbor Iran, much loved by the Shiites, we can no longer move our troops without their permission, the Green Zone will be secured by Iraqis and US troops and Contractors are no longer immune to Iraqi Law. The terms of Shrub's surrender were signed on the day Mumbai was attacked and the story lost in the noise.

A big waste of fuel. Too bad the asshole doesn't stay there. I'm sure they would love to have him.

I'm sure they would love to have him.

Yes, they probably would.
I'll bet they've even got a very special "room withOUT a view-designated just for him to stay in......

Celebrating the conclusion of security pact with Iraq

I don't remember Nixon going to Hanoi after he signed his Peace with Honorable Mention surrender.

the thief of baghdad

Meh, doesn't really matter where this lamest of ducks goes these days cos his approval numbers suck everywhere.

Oh yeah, and THIS...

I hope to God those troops he's addressing boo him up one side and down the other, and that someone captures it on a cell phone and posts it to YouTube.

Crowd: BOOOOO!! BOOOOO!

Bush: Smithers, are they booing me?

Smithers: No sir, they're just saying "Boo-ush! Boo-ush!"

Bush: Are you saying "Boo" or "Boo-ush"?

Crowd: BOOOOOO!

Pfc Hans Moleman: * sotto voice * I was saying "Boo-ush".

Be Well.

Somebody did throw their shoes at him.

His fabulous response?

"Size 10" (Laughter)

(The weeping continues in the background)

Typical...can't find a legitimate defense of the 'dear leader' so bring up something totally unrelated in a pathetic attempt to change the subject.

probaly not. but i'm gonna guess ( i could be wrong ) that Ruuuuussshhhh, handtitty, and O'douchebag have never been there either.

Ah, George Bush. I hear he'll spend retirement building homes for the poor. Not.

I hear he'll volunteer at VA hospitals. Not.

What I think he will do with retirement is as little as he can get away with, with just a few actions mixed in designed to make his neighbors suffer in some way.

That's been what he's done to date, after all.

Iraqi reporter throws two shoes at him and another reporter comes to Bush's rescue before Secret Service intercedes. Even the SS doesn't give a fig about him

The Iraqi reporter was a good throw. He failed to readjust for the second shoe, but good arm.

I am sure you are happy Dana Perino was injured.

"Honest Mr. President, in Iraq throwing a shoe at someone is the same as greeting them as a liberator."

I just saw the video on CBS. Dana Perino wasn't standing with Bush and Maliki. Sorry.

White House Press Secretary Dana Perino, however, was hit in the eye with a microphone as security guards scrambled to restrain al-Zeidi.

Sorry for being wrong? Or sorry she wasn't seriously hurt?

You go first.

Say yer sorry fer the over one million dead Iraqis and the over four million refugees and uncounted numbers of people living in fear, humiliation and hopelessness and for the envirometnal degradation and the outright theft of a once nationalised resource and then Spud'll consider whether Donut Perino getting smacked with a microphone knocked over by an overly zealous security guard (ie mercenary) deserves some sort of apology.

Be Well.

How about Sorry that Dana Perino has a job that she's clearly not qualified for or any good at.

Sorry about anybody getting "seriously hurt" or "seriously killed" in this loathesome adventure in Iraq that President Bush now appears to be proud of.

In many ways, the unannounced trip was a victory lap without a victory. Nearly 150,000 U.S. troops remain in Iraq fighting a war that is intensely unpopular in the United States and across the globe. More than 4,209 members of the U.S. military have died and the war has cost U.S. taxpayers $576 billion since it began five years and nine months ago.

Most Americans believe war was a mistake
Polls show most Americans believe the U.S. erred in invading Iraq. Bush ordered the nation into war against Saddam Hussein's Iraq in 2003 while citing intelligence claiming the Mideast nation harbored weapons of mass destruction. The weapons were never found, the intelligence was discredited, Bush's credibility with U.S. voters plummeted and Saddam was captured and executed.

I'll go after everyone in the Senate and Congress who voted to start this war. Who do you think has more reason to apologize? How many were re-elected since 2004?

Read post #28.

I'd bet you were one of the biggest cheerleaders of this war, Crispy - until you got on board with the rest of us who knew we were being sold a bill of goods.

Congress got the intel they were given by the WH. It was cherry picked and scrubbed of any doubt over the WMD claims.

Yes he was. And an even bigger cheerleader for Dubya, Chosen of God.

So how well did you and the rest stop the war from happening? I guess you had as much clout as I did. It is almost comical you can't find blame with the people who could have prevented the war, but can blame a poster for supporting it. But just like the lazy SOBs who didn't bother to read the entire report and stuck their political fingers in the wind, ignorance is no excuse.

It is almost comical you can't find blame with the people who could have prevented the war

Funny, but I recall Senators like Kerry and Clinton saying this was NOT a vote for war, but a vote to give Bush the power should Saddam not cooperate with the weapons inspectors. Didn't Bush kick out the UN Inspectors as they were pleading for 2 months?

And, uh, wasn't it Bush and Co who were desperately trying to sell the war? I don't recall calls from anyone in Congress for the WH to get on board. I have a better memory than you do.

I know you're desperate. Adios.

Desperate? Who is the complete idiot that doesn't know Bush couldn't have started this war without Congress?

Who's the complete idiot who thinks this war wouldn't have happened had the WH not sold it like a vacuum cleaner salesman?

Who's the complete idiot who thinks this war wouldn't have happened had the WH not sold it like a vacuum cleaner salesman?

Then why didn't they all vote yes moron? Maybe because they read the entire report? Nahhh. Funny only the dems blame their vote on the intel and not their laziness.

CRISPEE

You may be an alright guy, but your arguments are idiotic.

Everyone please watch the movie "Heavy Metal in Baghdad". That movie more than anything gave me a balance of view on the whole fucking thing.

I do also have a severe problem with anyone who voted "yes" on the resolution to use force and now says they were wrong. HMM, maybe next time, YOU SHOULD READ THE WHOLE FUCKING BILL/RESOLUTION BEFORE YOU ACT AND WE WONT HAVE THESE DAMN PROBLEMS> in short: DO YOU FUCKING JOB RIGHT THE FIRST TIME AND YOU DONT HAVE TO DO IT TWICE> but i mean hey its not like were going to fire them right?

"We started the whole march to war. It was hell trying to get the White House to go along with our plan! Luckily, we fooled them into handing us the cherry picked, whitewashed intel that left out all of the doubts from our intelligence services about the claims over WMD's, and suckered them into claiming this war would cost $50 BILLION and take no more than 6 months - with our troops showered with flowers and chocolates.

Also, we were able to force out Army Chief of Staff, Gen. Shinseki, for daring to tell us the truth about the number of troops required to prevent Iraq from becoming a 'Quagmire', as VP Cheney claimed would have been the case with 650,000 at the end of the Gulf War in '91"

Hannity and O'Reilly have both been to Iraq. Limbaugh has supported the troops for 20 years and donates heavily to the Marine's families. O'Reilly donates all profits from merchandise sold on his FOX web site.

Olbermann just bitches about all things Republican and justifies it with lies, omissions and half truths and doesn't pay his property taxes.

"Limbaugh has supported the troops fot 20 years...."

Rush has shown a willingness to support troops that support him. Those that don't are treated as pig shit.

I am sure that those who guard Shrub's bubble have told him that throwing shoes is a sign of deep - er - RESPECT for the person the shoes are being hurled at. Yeah, sure. LOL! I just love it when Shrub and Co try to spin something like this. There is Shrub saying that this is a sign of democracy - while the journalist who threw the shoes is mouldering in a jail cell. Yep. Freedom of speech, Shrub style. Is it January 20 yet?

here's a little clue about the Iraq war.. Obama is going to stay the Bush course.. why? Because its been successful and he's not about to change it.

I realize that the nutcase left (code pink folks) voted for him in the primaries thinking something different.. but that's life.

The presidency is for adults.

Putin would have shot an insurgent.

NMG NO makes one important point,

Obama's post primary shift was obvious and drove Nader back into the ring for me to vote for him third time in a row. The Republocrats are disgusting, greedfucking, Imperialist pigs, just like Russian and Chinese leaders.

Adults? In a limited way, having passed multiple layers of Oligarchy filters.

At this point, there can be little question what Obama brings to the table is cover to continue business as usual. But he is smart enough and close enough to poorer communities to actually change things for the better in a second term. Hardly guaranteed, but possible.
