Chicago Congressman Jesse Jackson, Jr. (D-IL) is the anonymous "Senate Candidate #5" whose emissaries Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich reportedly claimed offered up to a million dollars to name him to the U.S. Senate, his lawyer said today.

.......if they have a recording that JJ Jr. offered money for the Senatorship.......

.......then JJ Jr. is finished politically.........

OH SNAP.

Maybe this revelation is Barry's revenge for Jesse's threat to cut Obama's balls off. At least these Illinois clowns are funny unlike most libs.

You are kidding here...right? One of the main reasons I like the DR is for the entertainment.

I just watched Jessie Jackson Jr. give his speech on tv. He was adamant he had nothing to do with any "pay for play" with Governor Sleezebag. JJ Jr. said he met for 90 minutes privately with the Gov. for 90 minutes to talk only about JJ Jr.'s "visions" for the Senate should he be appointed by the Gov. to the Senate seat.

Sorry, from all I'm hearing and seeing of this Governor, it's hard to believe not one word was said between JJ Jr. and the Gov.'s private 90 minute meeting without any mention at all of a "donation" being made to the Governor. Not THIS Governor -- that's not how that guy works.

JJ Jr. may be telling the truth and he never made any deal for the Senate seat. But what I want to know is if JJ Jr's Daddy -- Jessie Jackson, Sr. -- may had any "talks $$$" with the Governor or any of the Governor's men about making his son a Senator.

Hang on -- this story is just beginning.
More heads are going to roll.

Maybe this revelation is Barry's revenge for Jesse's threat to cut Obama's balls off....

ff!

Yet Obama claims he never spoke to the Gov. about his replacement. Think about that a second. Maybe Obama's opinion on his replacement is above his paygrade.

Jackson 5?

Com'on. Nobody else saw that?

Has the old man shown up with the race card yet?

"Has the old man shown up with the race card yet?"

This is a good time for Jesse to play 52 pick up with the whole deck and make all those white libs feel guilty.

THey just reported on the local 4 o'clock news that Jesse Jr. offered $1m for the appointment. Has anyone else heard this?

Sounds like numbah 5 just got deep sixed. And ff for Lee...

How much did he bid?

I wonder if daddy still wants to cut obama's nuts?

I wonder if Daddy offered the $500,000 to make junior a senator! I guess we will find out soon.

"Sounds like numbah 5 just got deep sixed. And ff for Lee..."

I hardly ever listen to Rush Limbaugh but I had to run an errand this afternoon and came across him on the car radio. He was talking about Jesse, "numbah 5," and he played a song sung by Bill Clinton named "Love Client Number 9" to the tune of "Love Potion Number 9." It was all about Spitzer and it was hilarious. Sounded just like Bill Clinton too. I don't know why everyone is all over Rush if he provides great entertainment like this was.

Where is DANNI & SANOBAMA on this thread? Hiding under their beds?

Please, if there are miracles out there, do NOT let any offspring or anything connected to Jesse Jackson to even come close to power. We want a heaven exchange for Martin Luther King in exchange for Jesse Jackson. They shot the wrong guy. Jackson insights hate between the races and has WAY overdone pulling the race card. Oh, and if there are any miracles left over, please get him & Al Sharpton off the mass media as commentators. Their time and way of thinking is gone, let the new Obama generation step in. There are plenty of fantastic people of color and these two clowns make a mockery of them all.

I can almost hear it now

My son did not offer any money on that train
Nor was any exchanged on that plane
That surely would not be sane..

Bad apple never falls too far from the tree....

Priceless.

It sure is slow. If only we could work Sarah Palin into this.

Why not after all if Alan Keyes and Hillary Clinton can do it why not Sarah Palin. Just up and move to illinois and reside there for the appropriate amount of time and She too could be an illinois senator.

Let FREEDOM ring !

Crispee,

Let me give you some quotes about The Messiah -

11/23/2008, Messiah's Campaign Manager David Assholerod appears on Fox News and says the following: "I know he's talked to the governor and there are a whole range of names many of which have surfaced, and I think he has a fondness for a lot of them."
You can watch his interview yourself at:
catsden.wordpress.com

Yet The messiah said yesterday: "I had no contact with the governor or his office, and so we were not -- I was not aware of what was happening."

Please note that first he said "we" and then he changed it to "I", since by saying "I" he could be telling the truth since he didn't have to speak to Rod directly, only through one of his representatives. A little word play to be able to deny accountability except he forgets a simple fact. The President-elect's staff works on behalf of the President-elect. He is responsible for anything they do in his name.
Right now former Gov Ryan is sitting in a Federal Prison yet he didn't do anything illegal. People who worked for him as Secretary of State did the illegal acts yet he was sent to prison for their acts because he is responsible for actions done by his staff. Same thing for the President-elect or the President.

Gee, kind of sounds like Bill Clinton saying "I did not have sex with that woman", doesn't it?

In addition, there is this:
There remain questions about how Blagojevich KNEW that Mr. Obama was not willing to give him anything in exchange for the Senate seat -- WITH WHOM IN OBAMA's TEAM was Blagojevich speaking? Did that person report the governor to the authorities?
There is no answer to the first question though it makes it obvious that Obama is lying since he said his ream had no contact with the Governor, but obviously that person or persons didn't contact authorities about Rod's attempts to solicit a bribe from Obama.

Don't hold your breath waiting for Obama to identify the person who was speaking to the Governor on behalf of Obama.

That wasn't the only meeting that The Messiah has had with Blagojevich either.
Rod, Rahm Emanuel and the Messiah had WEEKLY meetings when Rod was running for Governor in 2004. So his statements that he wasn't close with Hot Rod ring very hollow.

I expect the Obamarobot apologists to attack in force since they really do believe he is not the Chicago Politician that he really is. The same man who drove all of his opponents from the ballet, including the incumbent State Senator Alice Palmer, so he had a walk over to become State Senator. How did he do this? Simple. As a "Community Organizer" he registered thousands of people to vote, both legal and illegal voters. So he knew who was not eligible to sign petitions for candidates to run for office and zeroed in on the illegal voters HE REGISTERED that had signed the petitions for the other four candidates.

I wouldn't even be surprised if he deliberately had known illegal voters sign his opponent's petitions since he knew who the illegal voters were since he had Acorn to help him accomplish his goal of disenfranchising the people of his State Senate District if they wouldn't vote for him.

Yes, he isn't the Messiah, he is the Prince of Darkness.
And no, that isn't a racist remark because the person who he drove from office with his voter fraud was a Black woman.

I think you are on to something Larry. We already know Palin isn't afraid to abuse her power and violate ethics rules. She'd be a perfect fit for Illinois.

You Rtards go ahead and have your chuckles and orgasms over this.
When it's all said and done-it'll be like everything else you guys have tried to hang on him-it won't stick.
Geesh-get a life!

The joke is on your party for all to see Frankie. The poor bastard is still over a month away to being sworn in and between him and Axlerod, they don't know whether to shit or wind thier watch.

TSG,
He also drove out anyone in his way to becoming US Senator. In pure Daley politics. This time using the Tribune to blackmail one opponent into suspending his campaign. Then the Tribune flew out to California and found a judge to release sealed divorce records on his republican opponent. God only knows why nobody cares about his staff and their connections to the king of scum politics. It will all come out someday.

"They shot the wrong guy."

What a racist and hateful yet surprisingly stupid comment.

Danni, get off the racist card, I am half black. Jackson & clan are the WORST reps for black folks. Life with Martin Luther King would have been heaven. Hateful, yes....stupid, depends on what side of the road you have to view it. Peace out

"There remain questions about how Blagojevich knew that Mr. Obama was not willing to give him anything for a senate seat...."

Hmmmmm. I guess there might remain questions regarding how we knew Mother Theresa wasn't giving blowjobs rather than caring for the poor.

I'm sure there is also the question as to how Hitler knew Churchill couldn't be bribed to end the war.

Are you listening to how barking mad you sound?

Danni, btw, I also think they shot the wrong president....Bush should have been in the crosshairs, not Kennedy. Hateful is appropriate to the parties involved.

Yeah, Zed. We shouldn't ask questions. We should just lay down palms on the capitol hill steps to welcome the Messiah.

Jackson is finished... You gotta love Illinois politics.... Welcome to the White House.

I saw him saying he is innocent today on CNN. I can tell someone is guilty just by watching their actions!!!! (Well, at least it got me out of Jury duty. LOL)

FF for Unclesam--

So I think the best way to resolve this is by censuring Blago tomorrow.

He cannot be able to pick the senate seat. Either he resigns--which does not seem likely or they impeach him.

They (the legislature) of IL needs to pass a bill to have a special election to fill the seat.

Then there will be 10 Dems who beat the crap out of eachother and the whole conversation will be about Dem corruption in the state.

Then Mike Ditka can run on the Repub side and win. ;o)

Da Coach for U.S. Senate!

If he is Senate Candidate #5--he is toast.

Him or someone on his behalf (emisary) agreed to pay someting up front and then fundraise for Blago for 500k.

Maybe he is not #5.??

With Ditka--he's got great name recognition and outside the Chicago machine and everyone likes Mike.

Here's an idear. Just have Obama pick His replacement and it's all set. Easy Peasy.

she handled that pipeline "bid" the same way Blag handles freeway bids, that's for sure. But who would keep Putin in his place if she wasn't keeping an eye on him?

"They shot the wrong guy."

What a racist and hateful yet surprisingly stupid comment.

Gosh, I see that "the race card" seems to be freely used as trump nowadays, but old Danni gets a trophy for considering wishing Martin Luther King had survived as a racist statement. That's way way out.

Yoiu can categorize it otherwise. But racist ... That's quite a stretch, Danni. I suppose, however, that whenever some of these folks want to score a point, they say "racist," whether or not it's applicable. It invokes a taboo and transforms the discussion. Instead of addressing issues, the person regarding whom the accusation is made is supposed to divert from addressing the issue, and meekly proclaim that "No. No. I am not a racist." And no, there's nothing else we were discussing that even approaches the fact that 'I am not a racist' in importance. So let's drop the other matter, whatever it may have been." Sorry Danni, some of the patina is wearing off that tried and true riposte.

CalifChris suggested earlier that Juniors participation in this morality play might just scuttle his career. But I suspect that he's invulnerable in his district as was Adam Clayton Powell in Harlem, and no amount of exposed skulduggery could end his career as a Representative. As someone indicated, Old Dad is quite practiced, and can play "52 pickup" with the race cards in his deck. It's been Jesse Jackson's source of livelihood for decades. The man knows the race game. And he may know too many secrets. With his son in the crosshairs of the feds, old Jesse will be committed to go all out.

And if Jesse Junior is brought to trial, he'd probably just be OJ'd, you know jury nullification. Jesse could be in the courtroom reciting poetry. Challenging all of the black jurors is no longer permitted as then Jesse Jr. it would be found that Junior was not be permitted to have a trial, a trial by his peers. It seems that "peers" requires a diverse racial pool with potential black jury members needing to be challenged "for cause" rather than peremptory basis, and with some black members remaining on the jury if a conviction is to be sustained.

What a circus a trial of Junior would be.

I tip my hat to you JOHNSON for seeing my statement for what it was and not what Danni was spinning it to be. Cheers to you and thanks for the defense. :-)

But I suspect that [Jessie Jackson, Jr.] invulnerable in his district as was Adam Clayton Powell in Harlem, and no amount of exposed skullduggery could end his career as a Representative.

-- Johnson

Jackson, Jr. may not be able to skate easily out of this one. Jackson, Jr. defintely was named as the person who is "Candidate 5" The Justice Dept. filed an affidavit with the Court stating that "Candidate 5" was prepared to give Gov. Blagojevich $500,000 and then later $1 million in return for being named to replace Obama in his former Senate seat.

I watched the live interview Jackson, Jr. gave earlier today and he was really nervous and very uncomfortable the entire time. In fact he read his entire speech.

Jackson, Jr. claims he spent 90 minutes in a completely private interview with THIS Governor and that they only discussed Jackson's "visions and goals" for the Senate! Give me a break! Have you read all the charges coming out about this Governor. He's almost a major crime lord! No way did Jackson, Jr. spend 90 minutes with THIS governor and not have any discussion come up about "pay to play."

Besides, the federal prosecutor on this case, Patrick Fitzgerald, is a top notch lawman. He's thorough and tough and straight as an arrow when it comes to demanding the law be obeyed. He kind of reminds me of a modern day Elliot Ness. lol

That's how he struck me too. He's one Bush appointment that Bush got right. Maybe he could run for IL governor. They wouldn't have to worry about him being corrupt.

It'll be interesting whether or not he may be that rare U.S. Attorney a new administration keeps on. He was suggested for the post against the wishes of the Bush administration. But, I believe it's up to senators from individual states to nominate U.S. Attorneys.

Whatever the case, he's a real winner. Glad he's a U.S. Attorney.

Correct Me if I am wrong but I thought it was Ashcroft who actually assigned Patrick Fitzgerald to the Valerie Plame affair. NOT Dubya.

Larry

I was speaking of Fitzgerald's appointment as a U.S. Attorney, not a specific case.

Ahhhhh OK Gotcha AU

I recall reading that the WH wasn't thrilled with former Sen. Pete Fitzgerald's (no relation) nomination of Patrick Fitzgerald as U.S. Attorney for Chicago.

As I understand it, Senators from individual states nominate candidates for U.S. Attorneys for districts in their states. Since former Sen. Fitzgerald was a Republican, the Bush Administration went along - albeit grudgingly.

Fitzgerald (the U.S. ATTY) was formerly an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York (NYC office) during the mid 90's. According to Louis Freeh, former FBI Director (just read his book) that's considered the cream of the crop as an assignment and people coming out of that office can write their own ticket. Lots of mob and financial cases. Top notch people.

That may be why the Bush Administration bit the bullet and took Fitzgerald for Chicago when they really didn't want to. That or they didn't want to piss off Sen. Fitzgerald.

U.S. Atty Fitzgerald was assigned as a Special Prosecutor to investigate the Plame affair.

BTW Larry

Freeh (former FBI Director) told some amusing stories of his days as an Asst. U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York.

One that especially tickled my funny bone was when he was placed undercover to stake out a steam bath an older mobster was using for meetings - figuring no one could wear a wire in the steam room where he held his business meetings.

Freeh would hang out in the locker room. Well, they got to know each other casually on a friendly basis.

When the mobster was indicted and showed up in court, he saw Freeh sitting at the Prosecutor's table. Thinking Freeh had been subpoenaed to testify against his will, or worse yet, a defendant, the mobster whispered to the judge, "Hey, the kid had nothing to do with this", and then leaned over to Freeh and said, "Hey, kid, I know a couple of judges. I'll try to get you off".

Of course the mobster was surprised to find Freeh was one of the three prosecutors. LOL

When the mobster got out of prison he'd call Freeh with tips. The reason was he'd found out Freeh had arranged for the mobster to be called at home alerting him to his arrest before the FBI showed up, gave him time to get dressed, and quietly arrested him around the corner from his house so his wife and grandkids wouldn't have to see him led off in handcuffs.

Given that Mr. Fitz knew the truth about who leaked info on Plame to Bob Novak, that the leaker was Richard Armitage, AND NOT Mr. Scooter Libby, that Libby had nothing to do with that leak. Given that Mr. Fitz had his answer and knowledge of the truth long before Mr. Libby entered the stand, but Fitx went forward anyway on prosecuting Mr. Libby, in hope of tripping him up on some procedural point in the endless examination and cross examination, eventually getting him on "purgery," YEAH, Mr. Fitz is obviously a paragon of virtue whose motive is pure. He is a decent and honest man who knows how to separate himself from politics in order to truth. YEAH, he's a real winner!

Bill Clinton was nearly impeached for lying after years of trying to get 'something, anything'.

Crocodile tears to ya, BS

Boo Hoo

Lie to a Grand Jury and you take your chances. Libby, an attorney, should have known better.

Mr. Libby entered the stand, but Fitx went forward anyway on prosecuting Mr. Libby, in hope of tripping him up on some procedural point in the endless examination and cross examination

THEONEBS

Hey, big guy. Libby lied during a days worth of Grand Jury testimony. He was prosecuted for that lie.

What else ya got?

PS BS

There IS no 'cross examination' during a Grand Jury proceeding.

Given that Mr. Fitz knew the truth about who leaked info on Plame to Bob Novak, that the leaker was Richard Armitage, AND NOT Mr. Scooter Libby, that Libby had nothing to do with that leak

THEONEBS

Libby had no knowledge of Armitage's leak of Plames name.

The issue Fitzgerald was exploring was Libby's own leaking of Plame's name to NYT reporter Judith Miller after Libby initiated the meeting with her.

#60 | Posted by AMERICANUNITY

AU - can I suggest you just back up, get a running start, and smack head first into a brick wall? Because that would be easier and less painful than trying to present facts to Theo and hoping he can actually grasp them.

Hey big guy, the point was Mr. Fitz, not Scooter.

Again, Mr. Fitz knew the truth about Plame and Armitage well before questioning Mr. Libby on supposed leaks compromising Plame's status.

Mr. Fitz wasn't interested in getting at "who leaked" but in tripping up Mr. Libby.

Mr. Fitz thus showed himself to be motivated more by politics, and sacking Libby, and less at getting at the truth.

BTW, if Mr. Fitz knew ahead of time that it was your neighbor which was guilty of committing a crime, not you, but nevertheless questioned you on it in hope of implicating you in some way, OR tripping you up on some point not germaine to the original charge, I'd bet top dollar he could nail you too! And I'm sure we'd all agree that justice had been served when he did.

"Again, Mr. Fitz knew the truth about Plame and Armitage well before questioning Mr. Libby on supposed leaks compromising Plame's status."

No evidence of that whatsoever. Plus, there can be multiple perpetrators of a crime. Just because one person robs a bank and gets caught, it doesn't exonerate every other bank robber out there.

At the risk of sounding exceptionally cynical and heaven forbid, defending any of these crooks, aren't all public offices for sale to the highest bidder given how the parties run campaigns nowadays and lobbyists. Money! Money! Money!

THE ONE BS

All one has to do to avoid perjury charges is tell the truth. Your proposition disregards the point Libby lied. All he had to do was tell the truth no matter what, when, or how he was questioned.

BTW, Fitzgerald is a Republican, nominated by a Republican Senator, and appointed by a Republican President.

So, knock off the 'he was out to get Libby' bullshit.

That pig don't fly.

Libby hung himself.

There's also the fact Libby outed Plame separately from Armitage. In fact, as I pointed out, he sought out Judith Miller and spilled the beans on Plame - all without knowing anyone else had disclosed she was a covert CIA agent. He made an overt attempt to 'out' her status as a CIA agent to a NYT reporter.

He's lucky perjury is all he got charged with. Very lucky.

It just brings tears to your eyes. Too funny

I heard Juniors interview last night. The old man could get away with telling whoppers, but I don't think sonny boy can.

JJ Jr. said he met for 90 minutes privately with the Gov. for 90 minutes to talk only about JJ Jr.'s "visions" for the Senate should he be appointed by the Gov. to the Senate seat.

Bawahhahahah. ROTFLMAO.

"In two other interesting developments Wednesday, NBC Chicago learned that Jackson Jr. was given a phone call from the U.S. Attorney's Office the night before the governor was taken into custody, advising him that the arrest was imminent. Also, the congressman's father, Jesse Jackson Sr., has retained legal council following the Blagojevich arrest."

Nope, not so easy peasy. it's blatantly unconstitutional. No matter how much you may like the guy, the Constitution does not allow the President-elect, or the senator leaving office, to pick the new Senator. This is probably due to separation of powers and checks and balances; neither of which could be achieved if a senator was beholden to the new president for his or her job.

I think Larry might have been joking.

BTW, Fitzgerald is a Republican, nominated by a Republican Senator, and appointed by a Republican President.

Wow! Good to know that being selected by and associated with Republicans insulates you from any charges of ethical misbehavior. I appreciate that insight, Gold. I'll keep it in mind. There was "the twinkie defense" in the San Francisco Harvey Milk murder, er, manslaughter, and now there is the "inherent Republican integrity" defense against allegations of questionable conduct. Got it.

As an earlier poster noted, it's all about money (and power). You've just got to parse your words carefully in making your point.

It seems that such activity becomes so commonplace that the violators forget the possible consequences of what for them is routine activity with no onus, just "business as usual." Then, "Huh? This is a problem? What gives? That's what we've all been doing for years."

The stench from the sewer that is Chicago politics.

Or Springfield. Whatever.

J Jackson personally issued a strong condemnation, and i'll take him at his word.

Obama said "I haven't met with him in 4 years" No comment on whether they talked just a play on words.

Then he said no comment while active investigation ongoing. What did he know, when did he know it????

AND the Silence of Rahm is flabbergasting. I predict he twisted the whole affair so bHUSSIENobama would skate away from the mess.....

Obama said "I haven't met with him in 4 years" No comment on whether they talked just a play on words.

I thought it was Jackson who said he had recently met with Blago for the first time in four years. Did Obama make the same claim?

That would be a "no".

Ya gotsta understand, stuff tends to all blur together in Crazy Wavey Davey Baby's head.

Obama sed that he hadn't met with Blago w/o specifying whether he had talked on the phone with him or not thus making the freeperworld conspiracy buffs certain that they have been telephonic BFFs ferever.

Jackson sed he hadn't met with Blago (which is mostly true unless you count the time he hugged him at some Dem event)

Latest on this scandal is that the ChiTrib's parent company has been supoenaed to produce documents relating to the pay fer play Governor.
