Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs
Tuesday, December 09, 2008

Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich was taken into federal custody at his North Side home this morning by FBI agents on federal corruption charges, according to the Chicago Tribune. Blagojevich and Chief of Staff John Harris are accused of a wide-ranging criminal conspiracy that included Blagojevich conspiring to sell or trade the Senate seat left vacant by President-elect Barack Obama in exchange for financial benefits for the governor and his wife.

This poses the question as to whether or not the Governor jumped on BoA as a matter of principle or to curry some sympathy with the electorate.

Enquiring minds...

Why is it so damn hard to get honest, for-the-people, people in Government? It's the only reason I agree at all with the "Drown Gov. in the bathtub" crowd. But Government itself is not the problem. Why does it attract such a nefarious crowd?

I wonder what his party affiliation is? the article fails to mention it.

Another corrupt Democrat Jagovich. Who'd a thunk it in Illinois? Next thing you know, they'll be corrupt Demopieces of shit in New Jersey and Louisiana, too.

I wonder what his party affiliation is? the article fails to mention it.

He's a Democrat.

BTW: Our last Governor (George Ryan) is currently in jail.

The prosecuting US Attorney is Patrick Fitzgerald.

I wonder what his party affiliation is? the article fails to mention it.

Heh. I added a paragraph about his background. Normally I try to include the partisan details even when the stories don't, because I know that's the first thing people look for.

Just when you think you've seen it all.

Blago is a bad egg...

The Boy Blunderer who would be governor!

Would not be surprised if these allegations were true.

Hope he gets a jury outside of IL or he will be screwed. Not much love for him in Illinois right now.

The Feds should just build a wing dedicated to Illinois governors at one of the Federal pens. What IS it about Springfield? Maybe something in the water?

From Wikipedia:

"Patrick J. Quinn (born December 16, 1948) is an American politician from Illinois.

A career Democrat, he currently serves as the 45th Lieutenant Governor of Illinois. He was elected in 2002 and took office in 2003. The Governor is Rod Blagojevich. However, on December 9, 2008, Blagojevich was taken into federal custody on felony charges of corruption. It is not clear whether Quinn will take over as Illinois Governor in his absence."

en.wikipedia.org(politician)

Someone was sure anxious to get Wikipedia updated with this latest developement. I find it peculiar.

The arrogance of this guy is unbelievable. With the spotlight on him and the state and this Senate seat, he thought no one would be listening in on him?

And Blagojevich wanted to clean the corruption out of Illinois politics.

What a dumbfuck.

I'm glad to hear the democrat Illinois legislature was talking impeachment. They need to get this guy in Prison for a long time.

Blagojevich IS the current corruption.

He also refused to live in the state capital of Springfield. He lived in Chicago and would fly to Springfield....at the tax payer's expense of course.

I think he'll go down as a worse governor than Ryan.

Normally I try to include the partisan details even when the stories don't, because I know that's the first thing people look for.

Guilty as charged. It is almost a given what party the accused is when their affiliation isn't in the headline or first paragraph.

Now Durbin has two former buddies he can request for Presidential pardons. Although I am sure the list of corrupt Illinois politicians will grow. Hell most will be Obamas friends and associates.

Pat Fitzgerald after him.

Rod its best just to plead guilty as then can hide the rest of the crap.

Wonder is Fitzgerald interested in being a Senator or Govenor ?

This is just a symptom of the bipartisan culture of corruption.

Keep voting for Republicans and Democrats people! And don't be surprised at the results!

Yeah Member cuz Libertarians are more moral. Riiight.

Someone was sure anxious to get Wikipedia updated with this latest developement. I find it peculiar.

That actually happens pretty frequently. A few years ago a jet got into trouble with its landing gear and had to come back to LAX and land in an emergency. Wikipedia was updated *before* the jet landed safely:

workbench.cadenhead.org

Hey, I am happy to vote LP, I don't own any of this corruption you guys keep voting in.

If Libertarians were in power and they became corrupt, I would surely not vote for them.

Libertarians *are* more moral. When you rarely win office, you face a lot less pressure to compromise your values. Put them in office, and human nature being what it is, some of them will become power-hungry self-serving crooks.

Where is SANOBAMA in this discussion? Hiding under his bed because another dirty DEMOCRATE got caught.

We are used to this in NEW JERSEY!

Put them in office, and human nature being what it is, some of them will become power-hungry self-serving crooks.

Simply take away the perks and lobby money an so goes the power and hunger.

I'm right here Oozie. Blagojevich is crooked as hell. What would you like me to say that hasn't already been covered.

The good news is that with years of therapy and proper medication, your Blog Tourette's is treatable.

He also refused to live in the state capital of Springfield. He lived in Chicago and would fly to Springfield....at the tax payer's expense of course.

Gee sounds like Palin--except she charged the State for living at home, and for flying her kids around too.

Of course Pirate doesn't see the other side.

Party before country---Pirates mantra.

Ran on anti-corruption? Won't serve from the state capitol? Actually a self-serving smuck?

Who does this remind me of?

Yes Boob. Just like Palin. Now go get dressed for breakfast. Meals on Wheels be be by shortly.

I would guess Blagojevich is a typical heterosexual, and probably a lousy parent too!

"Simply take away the perks and lobby money an so goes the power and hunger."

As long as politicians are in charge of spending billions there will be corruption. Corruption, we should remember, is not by any means limited to public servants, private industry has just as many crooks stealing anything they can get their hands on. It has always been this way and it will always be this way. The best we can hope to do is elect the best and keep them honest with good law enforcement.

"I would guess Blagojevich is a typical heterosexual, and probably a lousy parent too!"

Just as long as he isn't a ....."step-parent."
OMG!!! that would be wrong!!!

well it seems that the political cartoon in todays houston paper is spot on time here
it shows the capitol and someone is saying.
too bad there isnt 582 jobs lost here....or something and whatever that number is.......you get the point though

but ALL RIGHT>........chicago and illinois politics.........dont you just love it.and lets see

didnt we just elect someone who CAME FROM THAT NEIGHBORHOOD>.................hhhhhhhhhhhmm

CHANGE YOU CAN BELIEVE IN>.......yeah right

Of course Pirate doesn't see the other side.

I'm not a Republican nor have I defended Palin's traveling. Also, I didn't vote for McCain/Palin because they stink.

Danni--

Your #11 post linked to Pat Quinn the hockey coach?? (that was weird reading that as the guy is famous--but not for politics--lol)

Here is the link for the Lt Gov Patrick Quinn

en.wikipedia.org(politician)

since he is a Democrat I hope is sentence is light.

the smoking gun.

(AP) Gov. Rod Blagojevich's practice of flying from his Chicago home to the Capitol in Springfield and back for daily budget negotiations is costing Illinois taxpayers more than $5,800 a day roughly $76,000 since late May and climbing.

An Associated Press analysis of state flight records shows Blagojevich made nine round trips on state airplanes from May 22 to June 7, and he appears to have made at least four more since then.

Several of those flights came while the governor's aides were admonishing lawmakers for not spending enough time in the Capitol working on the budget.

The over under is three minutes before Bob posts a Palin retort. Any bets? I am giving 3-1.

So the Bloga was trying to steal the Obama senate seat for personal gain or take it himself if the price wasn't paid.

More here on the 78 page indictment--

cbs2chicago.com

Wanted the Tribune to fire the editorial board in exchange for relief of capital gains taxes.

The hits just keep on happening.

"Your #11 post linked to Pat Quinn the hockey coach??"

That really is wierd.

I know! lol

I was reading that and that Pat Quinn was the guy who won the 1982 Olympics! Born in Ontario Canada.

I was thinking why wasn't this guy Governor first?

this is all going to work out for this dipshit

I mean its not like the democrats paid thousands of dollars for some clothers for him or anything like that

IF that was the case, well we all know that is much more serious than a little scratch my back and Ill scratch yours amoung some good old boy democrats.

HEE HEE..........

and is he a part of pellosis' MOST HONEST CONGRESS in history............I guess not being the governor but you just have to love these guys dont you???? NOT!!!!

He only was thinking of getting the following--

A substantial salary for himself at a either a non-profit foundation or an organization affiliated with labor unions;

Placing his wife on paid corporate boards where he speculated she might garner as much as $150,000 a year;

Promises of campaign funds including cash up front; and

A cabinet post or ambassadorship for himself.

The charges include historical allegations that Blagojevich and Harris schemed with others including previously convicted defendants Antoin Rezko, Stuart Levine, Ali Ata and others since becoming governor in 2002 to obtain and attempt to obtain financial benefits for himself, his family and third parties, including his campaign committee, Friends of Blagojevich, in exchange for appointments to state boards and commissions, state employment, state contracts and access to state funds. A portion of the affidavit recounts the testimony of various witnesses at Rezko's trial earlier this year.

It appears that Senate Candidate 5 was maybe Tammy Duckworth--(unless there is another "she" in the running/considered for the senate seat).

Appears that she wasn't going to play the quid pro quo and took herself out of the running.

GRAND JURY SUBPOENAS ISSUED ON REZKO/OBAMA LAND DEAL

Hey, Rastaninja, I thought only republicans were corrupt. Also, in the article that I read nowhere did it mention that he is a democrat. If this were a republican the very first sentence would have been, 'republican governor.....'.

Hello walls.

He also allegedly discussed getting campaign funds for himself or possibly a post in the president's cabinet or an ambassadorship once he left the governor's office. He noted becoming a U.S. senator might remake his image for a possible presidential run in 2016, according to the affidavit.

news.yahoo.com

Not gonna happen now, dipshit.

"But, but, but,... er Palin...."
--DA_BOOB

I Voted Green for Govenor in his last election (as well as REP for cook county Prez). Got to get these guys out. Been there way to long.

Well there is bad apples in every bunch. On the other hand republicans are all bad down to the core.

Chicago, Chicago, that toddlin town
Chicago, Chicago, I'll show you around (youll stay around)
Bet your bottom dollar you lose the blues in
Chicago, Chicago, the folks who visit
All wanna settle down. (all wanna settle down in my hometown)

On State street, that great street, I just wanna say,
They do things they dont do on Broadway,

It aint just Gov in Chicago going down....

"U.S. Rep. Luis Gutierrez has made more than $420,000 on real estate deals"
"As part of its ongoing "Neighborhoods for Sale" series, the Tribune has documented an insiders' game at City Hall where elected officials haul in millions in campaign cash from developers and others whose interests often trump the wishes of homeowners and city planning staff. It is a system that fundamentally has changed the look of neighborhoods."
www.chicagotribune.com

Now you know why the Gov needed to fly back to Chicago, kept this under control.

Well there is bad apples in every bunch. On the other hand republicans are all bad down to the core.

Daddy was a cop
On the East Side of Chicago
Back in the USA
Back in the bad old days

In the heat of a summer night
In the land of the dollar bill
When the town of Chicago died
And they talk about it still

When a man named Al Capone
Tried to make that town his own
And he called his gang to war
Against the forces of the law

I heard my momma cry
I heard her pray the night Chicago died
Brother, what a night it really was
Brother, what a fight it really was
Glory be

I heard my momma cry
I heard her pray the night Chicago died
Brother, what a night the people saw
Brother, what a fight the people saw
Yes, indeed

And the sound of the battle rang
Through the streets of the old East Side
'Til the last of the hoodlum gang
Had surrendered up or died

There was shouting in the street
And the sound of running feet
And I asked someone who said
'Bout a hundred cops are dead

I heard my momma cry
I heard her pray the night Chicago died
Brother, what a night it really was
Brother, what a fight it really was
Glory be

I heard my momma cry
I heard her pray the night Chicago died
Brother, what a night the people saw
Brother, what a fight the people saw
Yes, indeed

Then there was no sound at all
But the clock up on the wall
Then the door burst open wide
And my daddy stepped inside
And he kissed my momma's face
Then brushed her tears away

I heard my momma cry
I heard her pray the night Chicago died
Brother, what a night it really was
Brother, what a fight it really was
Glory be

God, that song is awful.

If Blogojevich is guilty of what he's been accused of he needs a nice, long vacation in Joliet.

I'm against corruption by anyone entrusted with power.

Blogojevich was a freakin' fool to think he wouldn't be caught. The people of Illinois will no doubt be relieved. Hes approval rating was 13% - even lower than Bush's. Quite an accomplishment!

I'm glad they caught this before he'd appointed someone to fill the vacant Senate seat. Whoever is appointed doesn't need a cloud of suspicion hanging over their head.

Seems Pirate and you are OK when Palin does it--but not when a dem does it. My point was, it is bad when either does it.

"According to a newly released CNN poll, 79% of Americans approve of Obama's handling of the transition. Obama's approval ratings are at 76%. CNN's Bill Schneider puts these numbers in perspective:

"An Obama job approval rating of 79 percent -- that's the sort of rating you see when the public rallies around a leader after a national disaster," said Bill Schneider, CNN's senior political analyst. "To many Americans, the Bush administration was a national disaster." (Amen!)

More numbers:

Six in 10 have a favorable view of the Democratic Party, while a majority have an unfavorable opinion of the Republican party.

Notice the headlines do not place the emphasis on the DEMOCRATIC gov. He joins a list of corupt Il. politians , George Ryan, William Stratton, Otto Kerner.

Rezco here...Rezco there ...Rezco seems to be everywhere....and Obama right there with him.

This might be the time for me once again to shill for my idea of a Public Trust Act. Oh man, Oozie always comes up with the most convincing and well-documented retorts, doesn't he?

The Illinois House has begun impeachment hearings against Blogojavich.

I like Pat Fitzgerald. He typifies everything good about what a U.S. Attorney is supposed to be - non partisan, fair, a truth seeker.

SANOBAMA: I guess you don't get it, but most people with more then half a brain don't want to waste time reading your written MASTERBATION.

Amen, Danforth

Sounds like a good idea, 3x prison time for corrupt politicians, etc.

As badly as you'd like Obama to be tied to this, it didn't happen. AU

YOu don't know that. It's unlikely that he is but Fitzgerald said in his press conference that, 'Obama was not named in the complaint but that's all I can say'. He did not say that Obama did not know of this going on. And if this is politics as usual in Chicago, and it seems it is, Obama is probably not above this type of behavior and, if anything, he probably knows it occurs.

OZZIEOSWALD

What is "Masterbation"?

Rastaninja, how does it feel to have your beloved democrat president hail from the most CORRUPT political arena in America?

Actually Danforth I agree with the public trust act. And no - I am not drowning in koolaid - I just don't accept the mainstream media version of life. I do my own research.

Bush did the right thing going into Iraq and Afganistan. He and his team screwed up once we got in ..but going in will be looked at in history as a wise move.

He thought he was protecting the US by going in and it will prove to be the case, though not for the reasons he thought. (WMDs)

The media has covered up for Obama and pushed Obama down everyones throat. No due diligence on his associations or his back ground. They attacked Palin and McCain unmercifully ..and that took its toll in the minds of the public.

I look at the issues - and though I though McCain was wrong on a lot of issues and Palin lacked experience - the fact that the Media was pushing Obama and giving him a free pass made me swallow my pride - and vote against him (not for McCain / Palin)

So no coolaid.

Most of the 'media' sites the wingnuts have posted from as 'proof' of this or that are websites that look like they were designed in 1992.

There was an earlier post on this very website and I read the article and it did't mention any party and now that article has disappeared...Oh wait here it is www.drudge.com

"YOu don't know that. It's unlikely that he is..."

The person who looks great in this sordid affair, in fact, is Barack Obama, whom Blagojevich refers to by another name. According to the indictment:
ROD BLAGOJEVICH said that the consultants ... are telling him that he has to "suck it up" for two years and do nothing and give this "motherfucker [the President-elect] his senator. Fuck him. For nothing? Fuck him."
According to the indictment, "Blagojevich said he knew that the President-elect wanted Senate Candidate 1 for the open seat but 'they're not willing to give me anything except appreciation. Fuck them.' " (Senate Candidate No. 1 seems to be Valerie Jarrett, a senior adviser to Obama.) In another passage, Blagojevich fumes that if Obama doesn't show him some love, he'll appoint a person Obama doesn't want. Obama comes off as good as he could possibly have hoped for: He's behaving well even when you don't think anyone is watching.

Obama looks great in Gov. Rod Blagojevich's indictment

Hans

Told by two other advisers he has to "suck it up" for two years, the FBI says it heard Blagojevich complain he has to give this "motherf***er [the president-elect] his senator. F*** him. For nothing? F*** him."

At least he isn't racist.

Damn Hans. That was weird.

Damn Hans. That was weird."

No kidding, Wisgod.

HANS: "Obama looks great in Gov. Rod Blagojevich's indictment".

There is an old saying in Dutchland Hans.

"DON'T COUNT YOUR CHICKS BEFORE YOUR HENS GET LAID"

Dutchland?

Aha- well he is a Democrat, which pisses me off since this will cloud Obama's otherwise uneventful inauguration, and give the GOP a talking point (and thus more breathing room than the ass-kicking contest of an election would have allowed them.)

"There is an old saying in Dutchland Hans."

Too bad you don't understand the concept of attribution, because I never said that.

"Dutchland?"

Must be homeschooled, Sanan.

Hans

"the key question is whether the transition was talking to prosecutors, whether Obama and Valerie Jarrett knew that Blagojevich had offered her the Senate seat in exchange for a labor job, and how she, the transition, or SEIU handled the solicitation of a bribe."

www.politico.com

Right now I am predicting many arrests on the night of the inauguration. All the inner city gangs will be there to cause trouble

BY the way..if the Gov. was selling this one this time...did he sell it the last time?

If so...who bought it for Obama?

If he thought he could get away with it ...it couldn't have been the first time he sold a seat.

Oh...did not know it was Valeri Jarrett - She is the one with Obama and Cecil Butler in the Low Incoming Housing rip off.

That makes it even more suspect.

And that would make you happy, wouldn't it Timmy?

FOSHAFFER

Man, you are showing your ASS brother !!

A - Ryan (R)(in prison) was governor when Obama was elected

B - Obama won his Senate seat in an election. He was not appointed.

#132 | Posted by kerrin57

Actually preliminary analysis of your article would bode well for Obama. From Blagajevich's reaction that the Obama team wouldn't give him anything for the appointment, and Jarrett's withdrawal, it sounds like Obama backed Jarrett, and when the Gov. said OK but here's what I want in exchange, Obama said take a hike and Jarrett pulled her name.

American,

HE WENT UNCHALLENGED in the "election" as everyone else was thrown out on technicalities. PLUS. In Chicago whoever is the DEM nominee gets elected when it comes to Congress and Senate

HE WENT UNCHALLENGED in the "election

Bullshit, he gave Alan Keyes a bigger drubbing than the one he administered to McThusela.

HE WENT UNCHALLENGED in the "election" as everyone else was thrown out on technicalities

Wrong again. Look up 'Senator Ryan'.

Fuck, you're misinformed!

HE IS ALREADY OUT ON BAIL!!!!!!
WHAT THE FUCK!!!!

When is Daley going to be taken down? This entire state reeks from corrupt politicians. We are the national joke next to the Bananna Republic in Miami. Our nation is the biggest joke around the world. We need to demand clean politics!!! No more power, greed and dark agendas!!! You work for the people not against them you scumbag politicians!!!
And the worst of it is they get away with it and at worse get a slap on the hand. Or in this case, make bail only a few hours after being arrested.

Oh really, Hans. Well, if that's true, and I believe it is, then Obama DID know that he was asking for kickbacks to fill the seat. Blagojevich says fuck them if they don't want to give me anything for the seat. Doesn't this sound like they were made an offer and they refused? And, if this is the case, then Obama knew he was asking for kickbacks and didn't report it.

And, if this is the case, then Obama knew he was asking for kickbacks and didn't report it.

How do you know?

American

"Obama came from behind after the leading Democrat in the race, Blair Hull, became embroiled in a domestic abuse scandal. Obama won the primary with a landslide margin of 29% over his closest Democratic rival; his vote total equalled the combined total of votes for all eight candidates in the Republican primary. Jack Ryan won the crowded Republican primary with a plurality of votes by a margin of 12% over his closest Republican rival, but three months later, on June 25, 2004 announced his withdrawal from the race four days after the Chicago Tribune succeeded in persuading a California court to release previously-sealed child custody records containing embarrassing allegations by Ryan's ex-wife"

Sorry Not Misinformed. Who leaked the information about the Domestic Abuse and the Custody Records?

Who controls the police who would have had the only access to the domestic abuse information? Who would have directed the courts to the Ryan situation?

So..everyone else was thrown out on technicalities. I just did not want to spend the time elaborating on the fact that the opponents were attacked underhandedly similar to how the DEMS went after Joe the Plumber using the power of the government.

This is something the DEMS do everyday and accuse the Republicans of doing. They accuse them because that is what THEY do.

So...I should have been more elaborate in my statement but I wanted to keep it short.

-Obama knew he was asking for kickbacks and didn't report it.

Republicans are already attempting to tie the arrest of Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich to President-elect Barack Obama. But local reports suggest that it was Obama's Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel who tipped feds off to Blagojevich's corrupt dealings:

You're right. I don't care for the source but if it's true then they did the right thing and there is nothing else to the story concerning Obama.

'Obama was not named in the complaint but that's all I can say'.

#116 | Posted by everlong

No, Fitz actually said "I should make clear the complaint makes no allegations about the president-elect, whatsoever."

I had no contact with the governor or his office, and so I was not aware of what was happening," Mr. Obama said. "And as I said it is a sad day for Illinois. Beyond that I don't think it's appropriate to comment."

Corky, how in the world could you post that knowing full well if it were the same situation involving a republican you would trash anyone who posted a quote from them saying they did no wrong.

No, Fitz actually said "I should make clear the complaint makes no allegations about the president-elect, whatsoever."

#150 | Posted by SanAntonioRogue

Followed by 'but that's all I can say'. I should have said I was paraphrasing but I figured it would be obvious.

"Oh really, Hans."

You do know what a hyperlink is, don't you?

You do know that a hyperlink is used to source a quote or an article written by someone else, don't you?

You do know that using the HTML blockquote tag is a way of presenting a quote or an article written by someone else, don't you?

(Hint: blockquote)

That said, look again at my Post Number 124.

So, no, I didn't say Obama looks great in Gov. Rod Blagojevich's indictment, that was the second headline for the Slate article written by John Dickerson.

You're welcome.

Hans

Sorry, but I have to think Obama was/is smart enough not to get involved with this mess.

"I know, Hans. Oozie once told me he "graduated near the top of his class". So apparently his sibling must have edged him out."

I see. He graduated in the top 100% of his class.

FOSHAFFER: Good factual response. Unfortunately your wasting your time on these liberal ASSHOLES. They ignor facts when they disput their liberal bullshit.

I'm never going to try to speak in the voice of a president or president-elect. What the hell are you talking about, hans? You posted the link. Any other time someone posts a link here they do so to back up their position. Am I supposed to think that you don't hold the position stated in the link? No one else would figure that. And quit trying to be a smart ass. You're no good at it.

Apparently, "everyone else" does not include Obama's 2004 Republican challenger, Alan Keyes.

So much for the "Good factual response."

Besides, he hasn't been accused of anything.

"Hans: At least the republicans put someone against FLOP EARS that had creditability."

I see. So the "Good factual response" ("So..everyone else was thrown out on technicalities.") was, by your own admission, wrong.

Thanks for clearing that up.

Hans

Unfair remark OZZIE, I think EVERYONE just want politicians to do the right thing. Liberals, democrats, republicans, red states, blue states, blah blah blah and all else that seperates and divides us. This has nothing to do with liberals, this has A LOT to do with uninformed people from all sides of the fence. Lets keep it real and lets all get together and keep bad politics out of public office no matter who they are or who they represent.

As stated before - A republican has NO CHANCE given the Dem machine in Chicago and the amount of dead voters.

So..yes ..once you get by the primaries for Dems you are in.

"And quit trying to be a smart ass. You're no good at it."

Oh, I don't know about that.

"his vote total equalled the combined total of votes for all eight candidates in the Republican primary" Need I say more?

"All the inner city gangs will be there to cause trouble...."

Reminds me that all the riots in Denver Limbaugh salivated for never transpired.

"So..yes ..once you get by the primaries for Dems you are in."

So? You want to run that same argument by the voters in, say, Utah?

That's just the way it is in some states.

Oh, and that's hardly "everyone else was thrown out on technicalities."

Hans

Keyes was a last minute candidate. Jack Ryan would have giving Obama more of a challenge had it not been for his scandal. Obama probably still would have won though due to Chicago's power.

"his vote total equalled the combined total of votes for all eight candidates in the Republican primary"

I wonder what his party affiliation is? the article fails to mention it.

Who cares? He's a crook.

Normally I try to include the partisan details even when the stories don't, because I know that's the first thing people look for.

Sad isn't it rcade? You would thing the fact is is corrupt is important than party affiliations.

Oh Really? Well, maybe you can explain why the first two articles I read about Blago didn't even name him as a democrat. Are you trying to argue that the MSM is not more liberal than it is conservative? Are you really trying to insinuate that the MSM is not in the dems pockets? You are dumb Bob, but do you expect me to believe that you are that dumb?

Per Hans post--That is all apparently true and it appears that Fitz stopped this now before it could go any further.

Like picking the Senate seat and then the shit would hit the fan with this coming out after the pick was made.
-----

What I have trouble with is that Obama DENIED any contact with the Blago about the senate pick.

Then why did Axelrod say Obama was in contact with Blago just a couple of weeks ago?? (November 23rd)

"While insisting that the President-elect had not expressed a favorite to replace him, and his inclination was to avoid being a "kingmaker," Axelrod said, "I know he's talked to the governor and there are a whole range of names many of which have surfaced, and I think he has a fondness for a lot of them."

And I don't care what link you provided. The FIRST article I read was from CNN and it did NOT name him as a democrat. I'm quite certain that they have seen all of the blogs today bringing up this fact and have made the proper amendments, becuase there is NO doubt that they left out his affiliation in the article this morning.

This sums up my feelings on your idea of a president:

One sunny day in 2009 an old man approached the White House from across Pennsylvania Avenue, where he'd been sitting on a park bench.

He spoke to the U.S. Marine standing guard and said, 'I would like to go in and meet with President Bush.'

The Marine looked at the man and said, 'Sir, Mr. Bush is no longer president and no longer resides here.'

The old man said, 'Okay' and walked away.

The following day, the same man approached the White House and said to the same Marine 'I would like to go in and meet with President Bush.'

The Marine again told the man, 'Sir, as I said yesterday, Mr. Bush is no longer president and no longer resides here.'

The man thanked him and, again, just walked away.

The third day, the same man approached the White House and spoke to the very same U. S. Marine, saying 'I would like to go in and meet with President Bush.'

The Marine, understandably agitated at this point, looked at the man and said, 'Sir, this is the third day in a row you have been here asking to speak to Mr. Bush. I've told you already that Mr. Bush is no longer the president and no longer resides here. Don't you understand?'

The old man looked at the Marine and said, 'Oh, I understand. I just love hearing it.'

The Marine snapped to attention, saluted, and said, 'See you tomorrow.'

Why do you think Obama voters didn't know that Dems were in charge of Congress?

What is the reason Chimptards think Obama is a muslim and Saddam Hussein flew airplanes into the World Trade Center.

AU--

Why are you deflecting to nonsense?

I am pointing to that facts of what Axelrod said November 23rd and what Obama said today about Blagogate.

Is it so hard for elected officials to tell the truth?

I mean how hard would it be for Obama to just recount the conversation he had with Blago in the press conference today about picking a senator replacement?

How friggin hard would it be?

Now people will point out Obama is lying.

And all you have to say is neener neener?

Pathetic.

Rein--

When you want to compare 57% of Obama voters didn't know the Dems were in charge of congress with the 10% of Repub voters who think Obama was muslim (although the NYT repeated this allegation every chance they could) and even less for those who think Hussein flew airplanes into the WTC--

Get back to me on that--okay..

Everlong

You prove your hatred and partisanship everyday, as do many others. The hatred will not go away. Neither side will ever change their mind. SO----we should face facts and work towards a solution where everyone is happy.

You take McCain and Palin and live happily ever after. Every election in your country would be won by a conservative. We take Obama Biden, and all future elections are won by liberals. Then everyone is happy, and both nations can work toward their goals for the future. The way it is now, neither country has a chance---we are too busy hating each other. I don't consider you or any republican, nazi, fascist, or communist, to be an American or to understand American values. Freedom for others is something you would give your life to prevent. That puts you in an entirely different category than any American I know---and there are millions like you. 57 million voted for McCain---that's a good sized country. Would you die for the right of women to live their own lives and abort whenever they decide it is best for them? Would you die for the right of gays to live their lives like any other American and marry who they love? On which side of freedom do you belong? In which country should you live?

If democrats had done to America for the last 8 years what republicans have done---I would never vote democrat again. That you still defend those turds shows you belong with them. In another country.

Bullshit. A house divided against itself can not stand. Ever heard that before? Lincoln said it. This country will never be united again.

When will the disagreement over abortion rights be settled--when will you embrace the fact that women should be able to live their own lives and make their own decisions? NEVER. That's when this will be one nation again.

When will the disagreement over gay rights be settled--when will you embrace the fact that gays should be able to live their own lives and make their own decisions as to who they want to marry? NEVER. That's when this will be one nation again.

When will you embrace the fact that welfare, affirmative action, universal health care, and more are good for America? NEVER. That's when this will be one nation again.

Fighting over these things will never cease, and one side will always be unhappy and hate the other. This is proven every day on this blog. The best thing to do is both go our separate ways, and then both sides are happy.

What is the sense in maintaining one country when half the country hates the other half, and neither side can accomplish anything?

You are not an American

Americans love freedom for all Americans

You don't fit.

My premise is strong and accurate.

FREDO

I don't care if Obama spoke to Blogojevich or not. Sure they probably have at some point.

For the right wing nutcases here to insinuate Obama's done something wrong just makes you all look like fruitcakes. Well, it is the Christmas season, so help yourself.

And Blogojevich should do a lengthy prison sentence if convicted on the charges he's accused of.

Those types of actions are egregious.

When will the disagreement over abortion rights be settled--when will you embrace the fact that women should be able to live their own lives and make their own decisions? NEVER.

I realize that it is an imperfection of the system here that you are allowed to constantly assign a position to me that has never existed with no consequences.

no problem. 100% of the posters here know what a fucking loser you are and that you have never nor will you ever contribute a single thing to this site.

Your last post is a perfect example.

Fighting over these things will never cease, and one side will always be unhappy and hate the other. This is proven every day on this blog.

Welcome to America. You just admitted you fell off the turnip truck this morning.

idiot.

Congratulations AU you are still on my list of the 4 lefties whose posts I will actually read on DR.

But for you to trust Obama , a career criminal, is blind loyalty.

be careful.

You are not an American

Anybody here want to jump in and help bob out?

Sorry Buffalo Bob healthy disagreements are in fact very healthy for this thing they call the American Experiement. Without it we would not have the Bill of Rights the US Constitution and we would still to this day be sipping tea with the Queen of England. America IS dissent(That's disagreements btw Buffalo Bob_ America was founded upon the very ideal of dissent. For without dissent there would be no US of A.

But for you to trust Obama , a career criminal, is blind loyalty.

You just came OFF my list of 4 righties posts I still read

LOL

Axelrod, "Yeah he spoke to Blagovich about the seat".

Obama, "No I didn't".

Also, it turns out that the Rezko/Obama land deal had a false appraisal used to replace the real appraisal. The bank even fired the employee who tried to question it.

Corruption has a first name and B-A-R-A-C-K. Well you know the rest of the song.

BUZKILLER

Let's see if your two brain cells are still working, shall we?

Fitzgerald had Blagojevich's phones tapped. Now, how was Obama supposed to have talked to him? U.S. Attorney said there were no phone calls between the two.

BTW, I'm curious why you misspelled your ID?

Anyone else would have spelled 'Buzz' correctly.

"Obama a career criminal...."

This is such a thin idea upon which to rest your hopes.

I hate to break this to you, but the Republican Party was broken by George Bush and is gone for a while, as it needed to be.

Put another way, it would help you guys a lot if Obama were to be as bad as Bush was. But that's not likely to be the case, for obvious reasons.

"I've got this (power) and it's fucking golden, and, uh, uh, I'm just not giving it up for fucking nothing,

"I want to make money."

Carl "Corrupt" Blagojevich.

Wotta schmuck.

Apparently this is not the first time he's been suspected of being a "pay fer play" pol.

The 51-year-old governor, serving his second term in office, has been under federal investigation for several years over alleged "pay-to-play" schemes that involved providing political favours in exchange for financial contributions

Hopefully, this corrupt POS goes to prison.

Where, ironically enuff, he may become rudely aquainted with another version of "giving it up"...

...for fucking nothing.

Be Well.

I just took a shit (somehow buffalobob came to mind) and I thought I would check back and see if anybody decided to help him out.

guess not.

From Fitzgerald's statement:

In a conversation with Harris on November 11, the charges state, Blagojevich said he knew that the President-elect wanted Senate Candidate 1 for the open seat but "they're not willing to give me anything except appreciation. [Expletive] them."

What is the sense in maintaining one country when half the country hates the other half, and neither side can accomplish anything?

I don't think this is true, bOoB. I, for one, do not hate half of this country. It's intolerant fools like you who hate the people who disagree with you.

Grab a sheet, cut some holes in it, and call 1-800-KKK-KLAN. They, like you, are intolerant of people whose ideas are different than theirs and they, like you, are full of hatred. You'd get along great there.

Two years ago "Joe" stated that Blagojevich was both incompetent and corrupt and further that Blago would get nailed by prosecutors for corruption. I disagreed. Kudos to Joe for calling this one two years ago.

Blago is an asshole--all agree to that premise.

And whoever Senate Candidate #5 (?) (likely Emil Jones) who promised to help raise 500,000 for Blago has got to be quaking in their boots.

This thing is far from over and suspect that there will be many more arrests or pleas for singing birds before the case is closed.

--------

Question for folks--

Isn't Fitzgerald appointed by the POTUS?

If so, does anyone think he will be replaced when Obama takes over next year?

For without dissent there would be no US of A.

Gee---you are right--I guess we should elect some Nazis to the government--their dissent would help things greatly. Of course the Commies are underrepresented---we need LOTS more commies in government--their dissent would help things greatly, and make America strong. We need to get LOTS and LOTS of radical Muslims elected---their dissent is an absolute necessity for good government. The Taliban is a must have of course--they're great at dissention I've heard.

Facts are, you mouth things without thinking. A nation has to have a common goal to succeed. All else tears it apart. If you were correct, the above paragraph would be valid, and the makings of a great country. However, such a country will never succeed. Neither will America with all the America haters as citizens. America is destroying itself from within. No foreign national hates America more than a republican.

If dissent is so good, should you marry a person that disagrees with all you stand for? Would that make a strong marriage? How about a business---would it be good for your business if all your employees hated what you did---like having a fur business and hiring PETA members for skinning. Is that a good plan? How about a military where the members hate the premise of democracy---do you want those soldiers in charge too? The differences between American citizens is too great--we will never be united again.

You can't have a United country when half the country hates the other half. No matter how good a bumper sticker statement about dissent sounds. A country needs to have common goals to succeed. Same in marriage--same in business. That you can discuss things is fine as long as you come together in the end. America will never come together on abortion--gay rights--welfare--education--
health care---and more. Face facts---it is two separate countries. If you have a business where one partner thinks the best thing to do is save the forest, and another partner who thinks the best thing is to cut down the trees, the best thing is not to keep the company together, because nothing gets done and no one is happy. The best thing is to form two countries where one cuts trees down and another save the trees, and everyone is happy.

Murphy-
What was your opinion of Fitzgerald when he was prosecuting "Scooter" Libby?

The differences between American citizens is too great--we will never be united again.

cry us a river boob.

you are pathetic and weak.

you are the weak that the rest of us are responsible for protecting and caring for.

Just shut your face except to say "thank you for the handout".

No foreign national hates America more than a republican.

per BB

You are sooo full of crapola.

Do you even proof what you post?

That is the same as bofoos saying liberals hate America.

We live amoungst ourselves Bob--there is no line or people within a state where we are not mixed together with different and yes--sometimes opposing viewpoints on how the country should be.

And it's not like we don't have common goals--it's the method of getting to those goals that brings up debate.

And you are the only saying my way or the highway--let's split up the country.

Do you think this country would go to civil war over cultural issues like abortion or gay rights? Hardly.

Isn't Fitzgerald appointed by the POTUS?

If so, does anyone think he will be replaced when Obama takes over next year?

#242 | Posted by MURPHY

Presidents employ the U.S. Attorneys of their choice (as Bush did). I'd suspect Obama would follow historical precedent.

I like Fitzgerald. If Obama kept him (which is rarely done) I don't think many people would complain.

Murphy-
re: "And you are the only saying my way or the highway--let's split up the country."

Actually, that was Bush.

What was your opinion of Fitzgerald when he was prosecuting "Scooter" Libby?

Oh, and have you seen this?

From Fitzgerald's statement:

In a conversation with Harris on November 11, the charges state, Blagojevich said he knew that the President-elect wanted Senate Candidate 1 for the open seat but "they're not willing to give me anything except appreciation. [Expletive] them."

Of course the Commies are underrepresented---

That's because the voters do not want them or Nazis or radical Muslims in office. That's why they are underrepresented. You are aware of how the election process works in this country, aren't you?

No foreign national hates America more than a republican.

???

Republicans are not foreign nationals. I think it's time for that anti-delusional medication, bOoB.

The best thing is to form two countries

This is always my favorite of all the bOoB inanities: The guy who accuses everyone of being an America hater wants to split America in half. I can't think of a more extreme display of hatred! What irony and the fact you fail to see it, bOoB is comedy at its finest.

Let's use your marriage analogy: If you love your marriage, would you want it split in half (i.e. a divorce)? If you love your family, would you want it divided?

You continue to be a very funny guy, bOoB. Thanks!

Murphy-
Did you like Fitzgerald when he was prosecuting Libby?

Bet--I think Fitz did a competent job--detailed.

Did I agree that Scooter should have gone down for not remembering if he spoke about Plame to someone? Not really.

But for Scooter he did not leak Plames' name--that was Armitage. Fitz did not prosecute anyone for that "crime".

SO he got the next best thing--someone who was found not to have told the truth and obstruction.

What will he find here?

Fitz is going to have people falling over themselves to stay out of this net--there are birds singing right now about Blago --Harris---and Senate Candidate #5.

He is opening up the Rezko papers to review stuff there as this Blago thing is really big with long tentacles.

The corruption in Chicago and Illinois is astounding.

Trying to sell the senate seat!!

It's like a sitcom--without the laugh-track.

So does Fitz get to keep his job when Obama takes over??

Question, bOoB:

Let's say you have four children. I assume you doted on them and loved them more than anything just as a good father would. Let's say two of them became Republicans when they reached voting age. They became pro-lifers and stood for everything the Republican party stood for and everything you are against.

Would you want your family split? Would you fail to acknowledge those two children and not allow them in your house anymore? Would you tell them the 'house divided' quote?

If 'yes', you are far more fucked up than I ever imagined. If no, why do you wish to treat your country differently?

Too much critical thinking there G-Man...

All of a sudden, so many of Obama's top advisors, who had made statements concerning Obama's participation in the choice of his senatorial replacement, have issued statements indicating that they had "misremembered," or misrecollected," or "misreported" associations and talks, which based on their present recollection never occurred, as Obama was never a party to such matters. It reminds me of the Soviets, who would remove the picture of out-of-favor politburo members from photographs as revisionist history was made.

Obama was one of the chief players in the Governor's re-election campaign.

But then, who ever said that Illinois politics was not a sewer. I wonder if they have a special wing at the state prison for politicians, who were caught.

It does appear as if Obama were removed from participation as he did not wish "to pay" for the seat with a promised return of favors. But the question arises as to why when the criminal intent of the Governor was made clear, and the Obama crowd refused to pay, this criminal overture was not reported to the authorities. Or did the Obama group actually "rat out" the Governor?

It's interesting to see this unwind. Now we'll have a member of the Illinois/Chicago political machine in the White House. It makes one proud, weak-kneed, and fuzzy to install a corrupt state operative in the national scene. But then Harry Truman did not continue his fealty to the Tom Pendergast machine www.applet-magic.com after he assumed the office of President.

"not to have told the truth"

I love that. Convictions on five counts of perjury and lying to the FBI and obstruction of justice. And I still don't understand how you dipshits think that only one person can be a leaker. Do you encourage your local prosecutors to drop charges against conspirators in bank robbery cases after one person has confessed?

So does Fitz get to keep his job when Obama takes over??

If he wants it, I'll bet he will. Care to take a bet?

I think Blago has to be insane.

I mean the guy knew he was under investigation and taunting the press to "go ahead and tape me".

He is on the phone with several people about how to deal this to his personal and political advantage.

And for Blago to call Obama a MF--and Obama says he never spoke with Blago about this senate seat?

This has really long legs and not running out of the rat trap any time soon.

I still can't believe the arrogance of someone thinking they could sell a senate seat!!

Blago is crazy. And watch Harris cut a deal.

Another aspect of the story. First you say he did, and then he didn't. Then you say ... blogs.abcnews.com

The desperation from those who actually defended an administration who outed a CIA NOC is palpable.

Bet--He should get to keep the job.

But the Chicago machine is bigger than any one person--who knows?

And Scooter was convicted by a jury who wanted to see Cheney on the stand.

Neither here nor there--his sentence was commuted and the man is ruined from making a living. He is disbarred.

"The man is ruined from making a living...."

No. Marines who had their limbs blown off in Iraq may be ruined from making a living.

People in Scooter's set aren't like I and Thou. He'll die rich and not at all remorseful.

"his sentence was commuted"

His sentence was commuted by the very administration he worked under. Nothing smelly there.

re:"And Scooter was convicted by a jury who wanted to see Cheney on the stand."

one count of obstruction of justice; two counts of perjury; and one count of making false statements to federal investigators.

But, by lying to federal investigators he protected his boss, and as a reward Bush commuted his sentence.

"He died rich and not at all remorseful...."

Might also be Bush's epitaph. I find myself really interested in how close he'll come to any VA hospital after January.

Ah, the matters that the lefty Democrats offer in mitigation of the apparent offenses is that the Republicans did something or other, and therefore, those who supported the Republicans on the thread, should ignore the criminal behavior of the Democrats.

Another diversion program? The Democrats have been the the "bread and circuses" party for the masses. Keep the party in power, and you shall receive what you need from the government, and not the old-fashioned way, coal down the chute, or a basket of food, or the utilities bills paid. No indeed, now it's modern design for the delivery of benefits, either through direct welfare programs, or grants for various and sundry purposes.

Where is that more apparent than Illinois? Well, there are some other venues. But the big city machines have largely been Democrat Party operations haven't they? Try not to support "the machine" and remain in business. Inspectors will close you down for petty infractions that would not otherwise be noted, much less acted upon.

Isn't this a great country, where the government allocates funds for "community organizers," who get people out to vote for a particular party, and to agitate for more freebies.

BTW, Murphy, why did Bush retract the "sixteen words" from his SOTU speech, and then go after the NOC CIA wife of the man who brought to light his lies in the lead up to the war with Iraq?

And where are the WMDs?

"This has really long legs and not running out of the rat trap any time soon."

Sounds familiar...

ha ha ha !!!
silly liberals!

the ACORN scandal has LEGS, my friends!

so go shove your petty little blogosphere anti repub.conspiracy theories up your hiney holes!

Right, J?

Hmm, off topic. Scooter Libby, Plame. One crooked operation at a time. Why not concentrate on a hot topic, the Governor and Obama's connection to the Governor.

Sure:

In a conversation with Harris on November 11, the charges state, Blagojevich said he knew that the President-elect wanted Senate Candidate 1 for the open seat but "they're not willing to give me anything except appreciation. [Expletive] them."

STFU.

I thought we'd settled that.

But, Johnson, it's not really off topic. You are a right wing authoritarian, and you defend the actions of right wing authoritarians. Add a pinch of racism and 19th century armchair anthropology for other topics, and that's you and most of your arguments in a nutshell, so to speak.

Speaking of that, Johnson, would you please tell me more about how Nicole Simpson "deserved what she got" (death by vicious murder) for marrying a black man?

Question: "Why does it (politics) attract such a nefarious crowd?" -TFDNIHILST

Answer: Power. Some people just handle it better than others. People abuse their authority and power because they can. Whether it is a pimply faced seventeen year old Shift Supervisor in a fast food restaurant to an Executive Director of a public agency, unless someone can check their power they will in the end abuse it.

see y'all around

Hannity is working OT trying to connect Obama with Illinois governor. Karl Rove had to tell him to calm down. That there is no evidence of a connection. You know you're out of control when Rove has to slow you down.

axelrod said Blajokavich spoke with Hussien in an interview on 11/23 about possible replacements. Hmmm.

Obama endorsed Blago when he was running for Gov--then Blago endorsed Obama for his senate seat.

images.huffingtonpost.com

images.search.yahoo.com

They are all peas in the same Chicago machine pod.

The big thing right now--And I will believe that Obama has exculpatory proof on his side that he didn't do anything wrong on the senate sale. It appears he wanted Valerie Jerrod for his administration and not to go to the Senate.

But will he let Fitz stay on this case as long as it takes to get to the end? They are reopening Rezko--this could get really dicey for Obama and that snarky land deal.

As for Axelrod --he said what he said--that Obama spoke with the Gov about the senate picks.

Either Axelrod is lying or Obama is lying.

It would just be nice for someone to straighten out the statements. That's all--just straighten it out.

From the Complaint:

On November 5, 2008, ROD BLAGOJEVICH spoke with JOHN HARRIS regarding what ROD BLAGOJEVICH could obtain for the Senate seat. After discussing various federal governmental positions that ROD BLAGOJEVICH would trade the Senate seat for, ROD BLAGOJEVICH asked about "the private sector" and whether the President-elect could "put something together there. . . .Something big."
Thereafter, HARRIS suggested that the President-elect could make ROD BLAGOJEVICH the head of a private foundation. HARRIS stated that "it's got to be a group that is dependent on [the President-elect]," and that a President probably could not influence the Red Cross. ROD BLAGOJEVICH told HARRIS to "look into all of those."

My question is - why did Blagojevich's advisor think that anything he traded the senate seat for had to be something that Obama controlled?

More:

On November 5, 2008, ROD BLAGOJEVICH talked with JOHN HARRIS and Deputy Governor A. They discussed potential private foundations with which ROD
BLAGOJEVICH might be able to get a position in exchange for filling the Senate seat and, in particular, those foundations that are "heavily dependent on federal aid" and which, therefore, the White House would have the most "influence" on. ROD BLAGOJEVICH wanted to know how much the positions being discussed pay.

Again - why are the only potential reward positions for Blagojevich being discussed those that involve White House influence?

ROD BLAGOJEVICH stated that Governor General Counsel believes the President-elect can get ROD BLAGOJEVICH's wife on paid corporate boards in exchange for naming the President-elect's pick to the Senate. Governor General Counsel asked, "can [the President-elect] help in the private sector. . . where it wouldn't be tied to him? . . .I mean, so it wouldn't necessarily look like one for the other."

BLAGOJEVICH discussed with Advisor B his idea for a 501(c)(4) organization. Advisor
B stated that he likes the idea, but liked the Change to Win option better because, according to Advisor B, from the President-elect's perspective, there would be fewer "fingerprints" on the President-elect's involvement with Change to Win because Change to Win already has an existing stream of revenue and, therefore, "you won't have stories in four years that they bought you off." ROD BLAGOJEVICH said that he likes the 501(c)(4) idea because he knows it will be there in two years when he is no longer Governor, whereas Change to Win might not be.

ROD BLAGOJEVICH explained the 501(c)(4) organization idea to the advisor, and that "[the President-elect] gets these Warren Buffett types to [fund it]." The advisor asked ROD BLAGOJEVICH if the 501(c)(4) is a real effort or just a vehicle to help ROD BLAGOJEVICH. ROD BLAGOJEVICH stated that it is a real effort but also a place for ROD BLAGOJEVICH to go when he is no longer Governor. The advisor said he likes the Change to Win idea better, and notes that it is more likely to happen because it is one step removed from the President-elect.

Later in the conversation, ROD BLAGOJEVICH said he knows that the President-elect wants Senate Candidate 1 for the Senate seat but "they're not willing to give me anything except appreciation. fuck them."

ROD BLAGOJEVICH said that the consultants (Advisor B and another consultant are believed to be on the call at that time) are telling him that he has to "suck it up" for two years and do nothing and give this "Fuck [the President-elect] his senator. Fuck him. For nothing? Fuck him."

Whew! At least I'll never be accused of that!

Hans

He looks like a lego guy.

I thought he wants to look like a Beatle..

Hans - your post occurred prior to some of the conversations I posted. Clearly a deal with the president elect was still being discussed/contemplated after the statement you posted.

I believe that Obama did have conversations with Blago--they go back pretty far.

But as it appears--there is nothing on the tapes with T/C's between the two men.

And it appears that the pick that Obama would have liked--would only offer appreciation for picking the same.

If that is so--then Obama deserves credit for not falling for the rouse that this crazy arrogant bs'er was trying to offer

The union SEI SEU (?) seems to be up their eyeballs in this. Whoever was trying to do the end around with Obama and the pick and tying it to the union and what could Blago could get from the deal.

Obama got like 200 million plus--up to 400 million from the unions in contributions.

That is why he will sign the card check if it hits his desk.

This is all so corrupt--I still can't believe the Blago guy just didn't put this on ebay.

That is worrisome since Fitz was compelled--I mean it was urgent to make the arrest today--because it appears that someone was about to pay the price and make the deal to the senate seat candidate.

And Fitz stopped the entire thing from going thru with the arrest.

Who knows what would have happened--but more arrests are likely to occur.

My question is - why did Blagojevich's advisor think that anything he traded the senate seat for had to be something that Obama controlled?

#280 | Posted by JOE

Could it possibly be because the vacancy was left by the Senator who's moving into the White House January 20th?

You wingnuts are so desperate to turn this into an Obama related scandal you could just puke. Well, go ahead and puke. He's still moving in January 20th without a trace of wrongdoing.

Rep. Jackson talks to Ill. gov. about Senate seat

CHICAGO (AP) The man who will pick President-elect Barack Obama's successor in the U.S. Senate is talking to someone interested in the job: U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr.

Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich (bluh-GOY'-uh-vich) says he's meeting Monday with Jackson and describes the Chicago Democrat as a "very strong" candidate. The son of civil rights leader the Rev. Jesse Jackson is among several Illinois politicians mentioned as contenders.

The governor will not say who is on his short list. He says his hope is to pick a replacement before the holidays.

He dismissed the notion that his pick would be tainted by the cloud of a federal investigation hanging over his administration.

Blagojevich says there is no cloud hanging over him, only "sunshine."

_ Looks like he got the wrong weather forecast. I wonder how much Jessie was going to pay him?

Too easy, Oozie. Too easy.

CC--

I have the email list of the reunion and talked with the head guy.

I sent the copies to my Dad--which reminds me to try and call him again to let him know the mail is on the way.

Earl told me my Dad is crucial and key to being at the Symposium.

They have another pilot to talk as a panelist plus a couple of other airmen.

AND THEY HAVE THE PILOT COMING WHO MY DAD WAS TRYING TO RESCUE!!!

Lt. Woods is going to be there! Sorry for the caps.

So not only that --but they pay for the whole thing--the flight and the room--which I think is the BOQ in Pensacola--lol...(I was born in Pensacola when Dad was first signed up to pilot)

They have a driver pick him up at the curb at the airport and drive him around.

And since my sister will be comp'd the flight and room--I am going to try and attend as well.

They will pay for Dads' flight and room and my sister. So I can share a room with Chris--lol

Very cool.

Now we just have to talk the big dog into going.

This is a big deal--they have had John Glenn and Louvell and several pilots talk in the past. The younger pilots attend and see that they don't have to have "such white knuckles" when flying. There are going to be 800-1200 attendees there.

Can't miss this from my perspective.

Ok--enough!

Rezko has had ties to each of those politicians in some fashion over the years, from a once-close relationship with Obama, a first-term U.S. senator, to co-hosting a $3.8 million Chicago fundraiser in 2003 for President Bush

*Rezko*

Wow. I just watched the Nightline piece on Blogojevich.

What an arrogant ass!

He deserves everything that'll come his way.

Yeah--he is arrogant and so is Rezko and Obama--well we'll just have to see....the country just elected the prodigal son of the Chicago machine.

Fitz is opening the whole Rezko again--and Obama will under the micro scope agian.

Peas in a pod--peas is a pod.

"Peas in a pod"

Indeed you are. (BTW, "microscope" is one word, and "again" is spelled thus. As for your drunk interpretation of syntax, well that's a job for someone with more time to kill)

Ya, whatever you say, MURPHY

WOW!!! and another "WOW"!!!

What are the chances of that happening after all these years!

If your Dad still says he won't go to the reunion then I'll help you and your sisters kidnap him and put him on the plane. LOL!

It's always a great sign I am winning the argument when the opposing side goes for spell check as their argument.

And doesn't know what "Peas in a pod" means....lol

CC--kidnapping is sounding pretty good.

Or telling him that we'll go without him--that might work too...

I wonder how many trysts with Gannon were purchased by Dubya with the money Rezko raised for him.

Murphy-
Spell check? Shit...I challenge anyone to make sense of this:

Fitz is opening the whole Rezko again--and Obama will under the micro scope agian.

Peas in a pod--peas is a pod.

That was in 2004 or something.

Murphy-
It's sorta like reading a post from a drunk illiterate who listened to a rabid Republican tweener with an Ahab complex regarding the President-elect spout paranoiac nonsense for hours every day for months.

Murphy-
Wait...that's precisely what it is.

*SHOCK!!!*
You can actually buy a Senate seat!
....next thing you know the POTUS will be for sale...developing....

"why did Blagojevich's advisor think that anything he traded the senate seat for had to be something that Obama controlled?"

"Could it possibly be because the vacancy was left by the Senator who's moving into the White House January 20th?"

That in no way answers the question. The point is that Blagojevich was eagerly exploring potential appointments for himself as a reward for choosing a particular candidate for the Senate seat, and his advisers were telling him that the job he's looking to get in return would have to be something controlled by the President-elect. Your stupid and misinformed attempt to stick up for Obama actually makes him look worse.

I think another important question in this story concerns how brazen Blagojevich was with all this even though he knew he was under federal investigation. Does he know something we don't? Does he have a way to get the wiretaps thrown out? Will he be pardoned by Obama if he takes the hit and keeps his mouth shut?

Joe-
Actually, it makes you look like a nut. How did that birth certificate nonsense turn out?

Joe-
From Fitzgerald's statement:

In a conversation with Harris on November 11, the charges state, Blagojevich said he knew that the President-elect wanted Senate Candidate 1 for the open seat but "they're not willing to give me anything except appreciation. [Expletive] them."

Get a grip, Joe.

"President-elect wanted Senate Candidate 1 for the open seat but "they're not willing to give me anything except appreciation. [Expletive] them."

how would Blagojevich know Obama wasn't willing to give him anything?

According to Obama, they never spoke?

How did that birth certificate nonsense turn out?

I don't think the two issues have any connection whatsoever, do they?

According to Obama, they never spoke?

#325 | Posted by AndreaMackris at 2008-12-10 12:56 AM | Reply | Flag:

Don't be an idiot. You are saying that what Obama meant was that he had NEVER spoken to the gov. of his state? How can anyone be so stupid? (Yes, that's a question to you, Andrea)

Why was the investigation stopped?

The Gov hasn't committed a crime has he? Did he actually sell the seat?

I am not a lawyer but, I can imagine the defense lawyers saying.....well he never actually sold the seat? He "suggested" it.... pardon that man...

Give you the warm fuzzies doesn't it....

Goatman-
Yes, they do in that the same petty Ahab wannabe's are obsessed with all things Obama. Everything is a "smoking gun".

Andrea-
I asked you a question, and you answer with more innuendo and conspiracy mongering. Par for the course, I suppose.

"In a conversation with Harris on November 11, the charges state, Blagojevich said he knew that the President-elect wanted Senate Candidate 1 for the open seat but "they're not willing to give me anything except appreciation. [Expletive] them."

Had you read the entire affidavit, you'd know that Blagojevich had conversations with advisors and lawyers after Nov. 11th where he continued to explore the option of appointing Obama's choice to the Senate in exchange for favors from Obama - and his advisors seemed to know what sort of deal Obama would be willing to go for. Read the affidavit - educate yourself.

OK. I'll spill the beans. Obama was born on Mars to Malcolm X, and his contact on earth is the indicted gov. of Illinois.

"The Gov hasn't committed a crime has he? Did he actually sell the seat?"

Yes he has. The affidavit contains allegations having nothing to do with the Senate seat, that regard his receipt of large campaign contributions in exchange for appointment to state jobs or appropriation of state funding. The charges that deal with the Senate seat relate to the crimes of Attempt and Conspiracy, which appear to have been completed.

Joe-
Why don't you quote it?

Yes, they do in that the same petty Ahab wannabe's are obsessed with all things Obama. Everything is a "smoking gun".

But there is no connection in so far as the fallacy of one proves the other is also false. That is what I meant.

Joe-
re: "where he continued to explore the option of appointing Obama's choice to the Senate in exchange for favors from Obama - and his advisors seemed to know what sort of deal Obama would be willing to go for."

Give me the quote where Obama or his staff promised him anything.

Now would be a good time to do that.

"Why don't you quote it?"

I already did, above. Since you're too lazy to read the affidavit and too lazy to read my posts, I'll do your work for you.

108. On November 12, 2008, ROD BLAGOJEVICH talked with one of his Washington D.C.-based advisors.

"You are saying that what Obama meant was that he had NEVER spoken to the gov. of his state? "

No that he never spoke to the governor about the issue? What would that mean?

Didn't you see Obama's statement? Are you amiss on his reference to this?

There was communication, its just a matter of what the definition of what "NEVER" spoken means.....

Are you saying that have to NEVER actually speak to each other means to NOT be "negotiating"?

Murphy

You are sooo full of crapola.

Do you even proof what you post?

So you look at that whole post, and all you see is one sentence? When will you slow brains learn how to respond to a post? First write what the other person said---see how I did that above? The you respnd to it. See what I'm doing now? Then you do that for EVERYTHING SAID in the post. You don't just pick out one tine sentence and respond to it, and think you have responded to the whole post.

Here's your proof.---Just from this thread.

Here's some hate from you.

This guy is another who would be happier without Obama, and I'd certainly be happier without him. How much proof do you need? The hate is continuous, and non ending.

That is the same as bofoos saying liberals hate America.

Liberals DO hate America---YOUR vision of America. That's the whole point. Conservatives hate the liberal view of America and liberals hate the conservative view of America. Two concepts pulling in different direstions, and neither accomplishing anything.

We live amoungst ourselves Bob--there is no line or people within a state where we are not mixed together with different and yes--sometimes opposing viewpoints on how the country should be.

No kidding. That's what I'm trying to change. Let's divide the States and get all conservatives in one area and all liberals in another. Swap houses--swap land---whatever. It would be like a war, without the killing. The alternative will be war one day.

And it's not like we don't have common goals--it's the method of getting to those goals that brings up debate.

And you are the only saying my way or the highway--let's split up the country.

No, I'm not. But even if I were it wouldn't make any difference. An American would know that.

Do you think this country would go to civil war over cultural issues like abortion or gay rights? Hardly.

No, but those will only be part of the reason. Do you think the Civil War was fought only for slavery?

There--see how it's done. Answer every concept in a post. Not just one sentence. Answering just one sentence leads me to think that's all you can handle at a time.

"Give me the quote where Obama or his staff promised him anything."

That is not a response to my post. My post said that Blagojevich's advisors seemed to know what Obama would be willing to go for - which is proven by the quote I just posted. You are asking for something I never said existed. Perhaps when they wiretap Obama's office we will have what you are looking for.

Joe-
Here's my quote:

'In a conversation with Harris on November 11, the charges state, Blagojevich said he knew that the President-elect wanted Senate Candidate 1 for the open seat but "they're not willing to give me anything except appreciation. [Expletive] them."'

Now, why don't you educate yourself and the blog and give me a quote from the indictment that you feel would enlighten us.

Joe-
Your quote is nothing.

Murphy

We don't have any common goals. The goals of conservatives and liberals are completely different, and will never agree. This country is already split, and will remain split for all time.

I'm sorry. I thought you had something that could be interpreted as damaging to Obama under the most ridiculous of interpretations. My bad.

bOoB: Brevity is your friend. I can't speak for others, but a three screenful post doesn't get read by me. Especially when your name is at the bottom.

"Your quote is nothing."

No, it appears that yours is nothing. I asked the question - why did Blagojevich's advisors focus so much on a trade with Obama if it wasn't an option? You then posted the Nov. 11th quote where Blagojevich says Obama isn't going to give him anything. Then I said there were conversations after that where they continued to explore that option, and my quote proves it. If you can't understand that, too bad.

Joe-
What you have is criminals talking about what they would like as ransom. Here is the reality they faced:

"In a conversation with Harris on November 11, the charges state, Blagojevich said he knew that the President-elect wanted Senate Candidate 1 for the open seat but "they're not willing to give me anything except appreciation. [Expletive] them."

This country is already split, and will remain split for all time.

Using your definition of 'split' (different ideologies) this country, like every country since the dawn of civilization has always been split. Never in the history of mankind has there been a large socially connected group of people who think exactly the same.

So what is your point that the country is split?

So what you're saying is - you're willing to believe Blagojevich and his advisors when they say they know what Obama wants and doesn't want to do - so long as what they are saying exonerates Obama. But on the next day when they continue to talk about what Obama wants and doesn't want to do, and their talk tends to suggest that Obama would participate given the right circumstances, you are not willing to believe what they're saying. Is that about right?

Take your bullshit, Joe, and further damage what is left of conservatism and the Republican Party. As for me, I'm going to have a beer, a cigarette, a piece of dark chocolate and a good peaceful sleep.

If you think of an answer while you distract yourself with cigarettes and chocolate, I'll check in tomorrow to read it.

Question dUmmY

Say you have four kids. Two of them grow up to be murderers and rapists. Do you embrace them and stand by them against all comers?

Not me--I'd toss their ass out in the cold and steal their last blanket before I called the cops and told them where they were.

Republicans fall into this group. Bush has murdered hundreds of thousands of people. According to our law, if you are an accessory to a crime--you committed the crime. If you voted for Bush, you are just as much a murderer as he is.

You say Bush isn't a murderer? That's because you live in Conservative Country. Here in L:iberal Country, he is a murder, and we would have hung him for war crimes.

See the difference in the countries? Different morals and laws. In your country Bush is a hero, and celebrated wherever he goes. In my country, Bush is spit upon, and reviled as one of the worst people on the planet. He killed far more Iraqis than Saddam Hussein, and Hussein had almost thirty years to do it. A country that never attacked us--a country that never threatened to attack us---a country that didn't have the capability to attack us.

So how do you think these two countries will ever be United? I'm not saying the country should split up. I'm saying it is already split up. I'm saying it is a simple fact. Something you aren't bright enough to realize yet. However, your ignorance doesn't offset the reality. This is two countries. No matter what I say--or what you say.

"I'd toss their ass out in the cold and steal their last blanket before I called the cops and told them where they were."

If you were my child I'd do the same thing to you. What country does that put me in?

I wish America would split up. All the educated people would be blue staters while red states would be full of inbreeds and snakehandlers.

"I'm not saying the country should split up."

Weird.

I propose two nations. East and West of the Mississippi. Let the conservatives pick which side they want because they'll whine forever how they got screwed. Then everybody moves--trade houses--whatever. If you are on the wrong side, GTFO because the laws are not going to be to your liking.

Say you have four kids. Two of them grow up to be murderers and rapists. Do you embrace them and stand by them against all comers?

I always have said, many many times that as long as it's legal, I welcome it whenever you make your stupid 'two countries' argument. But you always forget that. Rape and murder are not legal. I sure wish your memory was better. I grow weary of repeating myself to you.

Republicans fall into this group.

News flash, bOoB. There are criminals and doers of evil deeds in the entire political spectrum. Also, not all republicans are murderers and rapists as you say. Are you really that stupid to think otherwise?

In your country Bush is a hero,

My country is America, and he is not considered a hero by everyone here. (do I need to come back after the anti-delusion medication has kicked in?)

So how do you think these two countries will ever be United?

Ummm -- which two countries?

Joe

put the next sentence on it dUMmy.

What a moroon.

I'm not saying the country should split up. I'm saying it is already split up. I'm saying it is a simple fact.

shipdit.

What we did in Iraq was not legal either dUMmy. Get it? Bush murdered people there. In my country we hang people like that for murder. In America, they did the same thing to Germans and Japanese. America is not that same country.

I wouldn't support my murdering kids, and I wouldn't support them if they were accessories to murder. Of course--your morals accept murder. That's the difference in your country and my country.

Goddamn, Joe.

Are you a Twinkie aficionado, too?

Calorie King of Leon County?

Moon-faced, pseudo-intellectual geek that fails to understand that a tenure-worthy knowledge of routers and servers doesn't quite translate to literate articulations of geo-politics and economics?

Yes it was.

Bush murdered people there.

No he didn't.

In my country we hang people like that for murder.

No they don't.

They appeal to the U.N. to abolish the death penalty.

You don't know what the fuck you're talking about, Bob.

But then again, you're a typical un-American liberal piece of shit.

Go light yourself on fire, Moonbeam.

I did NOT have sex..er...uh...a conversation with that...uh.....man...uh...the Gubner.

Can a Prez-elect be impeached? Or do we have to wait?

Man, I sincerely hope that this does not shroud Barrack Obama in some kind of scandal. I did not vote for Obama, nor did I want him to become president however, now that he will soon become the POTUS, it is vitally important that he remain free to focus on the very sensitive and urgent job at hand. The last thing this country needs right now is a Bill Clinton style damage control wing to burden and distract him and the country.

I'm not at all bothered that Obama voiced his opinion about who he would prefer succeed him. Any one of us would offer our opinion in the same situationno foul there. I am however, a bit bothered by the statement of no contact. Sure, Obama is a politician just like any other and the first response is generally to deny and disarm but, I was kinda hoping for change.

Pinche Mao

Thanks for proving my point. This is two countries.

But as usual, you don't know what you are talking aboput. Bush is a murderer, and would be hung in my country. I would explain it all to you, but you would have to read, and it has already been printed out in the posts you are responding to. If you didn't get it the first time--you won't get it the fifth or twenty fifth time either.

Me too. Like people not making up their mind before the facts are known. Try it sometime. Make a change.

All the educated people would be blue staters while red states would be full of inbreeds and snakehandlers.

Rasta, that would put you in the red state. An educated person knows that intelligence knows no political boundaries.

Pinche would be allowed to live in my country as a Dhimmi. I would be known as King Jackass.

In my country (America) we have this thing called trial by jury. I guess in bOoBistan people are hanged because bOoB doesn't like 'em and decides so.

I'm beginning to agree with you. I think I'll stay in my diverse American with its rights. You go to whereever (hopefully it's overseas) and start your own country. I'm sure you'll have hoardes of people following you and begging to get in.

Good luck king bOoB the first! Enjoy your hangings.

INteresting. I thought you said all the liberals would be in your country. And I thought that liberals were against the death penalty.

So schizophrenia is big in your country too, I take it?

Bob, whether you're smart enough to undertand it or not----you really don't want "two Americas", outside the ideological masturbation the concept provides you.

See.....

You're a liberal pussy.

Your sole contribution to the American Experience is to simply "be" a Liberal pussy---and to occasionally remind the folks who actually produce something of value in society that people like you actually exist.

Meanwhile, real America chugs forward.

I dunno, Bob.

Maybe you could help the term "liberal" no longer be a modifier of "pussy" if you stepped up and participated in one of Obama's "infrastructure" projects.

WPA, Baby.

Grab a shovel.

"We Can Do It!"

Pinche I doubt you produce anything but hot air.

Wouldn't your real America do much better without slugs like me dragging you down with welfare and bleating about gay rights and wanting women to kill their babies? Wouldn't you think your country would be bette off without such people? You could have McCain for 8 years, then Palin for 8 years, then huckabee for 8 years---wouldn't that be better than Obama for 8 years, then Hillary for 8 years, then Caroline Kennedy for 8 years?

Answer the question DunCe. Man up for once pants pisser.

Wouldn't your real America do much better without slugs like me dragging you down with welfare and bleating about gay rights and wanting women to kill their babies? Wouldn't you think your country would be bette off without such people?

Damn -- you can get it right once in a while if you really want to, bOoB.

Yes, my country (America) would do a lot better without people like you, but my country (America) still allows the mentally handicapped, ignorant, and delusional like you to stay. You see, in my country (America) we are not cowards. We do not wish away our problems and construct imaginary countryies on blogs to sent them to. We confront them.

You, being the coward that you are, just wish they would go away so that you don't have to deal with them. I'm proud to say I am one of the strong ones and not one of the weak pussies like you.

Hey, bOoB -- is it as bad being you as it appears to us? I mean, it has to suck being so delusional and living in a world where smokestacks belch pollution into an airless world, where blue ghost angels frequent Cincinatti gas stations, where pyramids are topped with giant ray guns, where car aerials make better weapons than a firearm, where a youtube.com video trumps centuries of proven scientific facts and even basic HS math, and having a split personality that wants the greatest nation that was ever on this planet split like his own mind.

Does it ever bother you being so fucked up? Or are you so fucked up that you don't even realize how fucked up your mind is?

BuffaloBob ♥ Goatman

The pure arrogance of this guy Blagojevich grows more astounding by the hour.

Now the FBI said Blagojevich had planned to appoint himself to be the Senator to replace Obama's open Senate seat and he allegedly planned on doing appointing himself in order to avoid getting out of being impeached while Governor.

(I don't understand why he thought he could get away with all the crimes he did while Governor of Illinois just because he appointed himself a Senator?)

Then it gets even better.

The FBI said Blagojevich planned -- after he had appointed appointing himself Senator -- to then run for President in 2016!

You know Obama has to be squirming. Even though there isn't any connection except proximity, this is not the kind of thing one wants to deal with a month before he takes office.

You know Obama has to be squirming.

Goat,

I don't know but I think obama is just shaking head at the stupidity.

If you received a promotion and moved to another location I don't think you would squim if your old boss was caught trying to gain favors while hiring someone else for your old position. It has nothing to do with you.

So rahm emanual allegedly blew the whistle, according to huffington post!! What a crock of garbage!!!

Emanual was an insider to illinois politics, and he knew how to play the game. Once it became apparent obama was going to elevate to president, he turned his back on Illinois dems...and turned them in.

There is NO WAY Emanual got as high in Illinois as he did with out knowing the democratic game. NO WAY, and now he's left them in the dust. Obama must be patting Rahm on the back right now "atta boy we really showed 'em"

"If Dickie Durbin succeeds in making this a special election, the Republicans will gain a Senate seat."

Your optimism is warming.

For the Republicans, this is a God-send. Between the lingering questions about Dumbo's citizenship, his known ties to domestic terrorists and corrupt politicians, and his drug habit there is no reason that he cannot be effectively stymied for the next two years. The Republicans then need to use that as the reason the electorate should return them to power (as in the Republican Revolution under Cliton) and get Ken Starr on speed dial. Dumbo isn't as clever as Cliton, he will screw up big enough that he can actually be convicted!

It is still possible to save the republic!

If ANYONE in this United States of America believes Obama didn't recommend some appointments to Blogojevich, I'd like to talk to him/her about some great land investments I have just east of Miami.

Look no further than post #406.

So, who's been feeding the trolls brain food?

I'm sure Obama probably expressed his preferences, but I doubt he did it directly. From what Fitz and the FBI have released, it appears that the campaign likely expressed Obama's thoughts to the Gov. and he said "what'll ya give me for it". They said we'll give you bupkis, and the Gov. said f-off then.

Look no further than post #406.

And look no further than post #409 for a classic example of leaping to erroneous conclusions based on absolutely no evidence at all.

"Link please?"

First off...I don't see anything wrong with Obama suggesting some names for appointment. But then, I don't understand the lies about it.

"His statement that he didn't have contact with Blagojevich about the Senate seat seems to conflict with that of top adviser David Axelrod, who told Fox News Chicago on Nov. 23: "I know he's talked to the governor, and there are a whole range of names, many of which have surfaced, and I think he has a fondness for a lot of them."

San,
You have already proven your desire to defend Obama regardless of his own admissions, apologies, or lies. He is OJ and you are the jury who aquitted him. But like OJ Obama will fuck up and be caught. Karma will catch up to your golden child and someday you will see your wasted battle.

"I'm sure Obama probably expressed his preferences, but I doubt he did it directly."

Axelrod said, "I know HE'S talked to the governor...."

Axelrod said, "I KNOW ...," not, I "think...

But no matter, what's the problem anyway? I don't understand the lies about it.

Those conversations are between Blago and his advisor(s) speculating on what they might be able to ask for/get for the seat. Nothing about any conversations with Obama or anyone from his campaign. Just a wish list.

The point that seems to be most salient is this:

"Later in the conversation, ROD BLAGOJEVICH said he knows that the President-elect wants Senate Candidate 1 for the Senate seat but 'they're not willing to give me anything except appreciation. fuck them.'

ROD BLAGOJEVICH said that the consultants (Advisor B and another consultant are believed to be on the call at that time) are telling him that he has to 'suck it up' for two years and do nothing and give this 'Fuck [the President-elect] his senator. Fuck him. For nothing? Fuck him.'"

In other words - the Obama campaign said no way to his little games.

. Even if the governor was to appoint a candidate favored by the Obama team, Blagojevich said, "they're not willing to give me anything except appreciation."

news.yahoo.com

Fact is Fitzgerald has already said Obama is not involved but the right already has already jumped to conclusions on this and no amount of facts that prove otherwise will suffice. This is just another conspiracy theory that Hannity and Rush will use to distract their fellowship.

Pathetic guilt by association tactics being used. Of course, every good politician has come across or dealt with a scumbag in their lifetime, it's the nature of the game. It doesn't mean that the decent politician is corrupt as well. Simple strokes for simple folks I guess - that can only explain the ignorance of the facts by many on the right.

"Nothing about any conversations with Obama or anyone from his campaign. Just a wish list."

And yet, Blago's advisors seemed to know what Obama would and would not be willing to do. I.e. in the conversation the day after your favorite quote, Blago's Washington advisor indicated that a deal that was one step removed from Obama was more likely to happen.

"The point that seems to be most salient is this:"

In other words, you're willing to believe Blagojevich and his advisors when they say they know what Obama wants and doesn't want to do - so long as what they are saying exonerates Obama. But on the next day when they continue to talk about what Obama wants and doesn't want to do, and their talk tends to suggest that Obama would participate given the right circumstances, you are not willing to believe what they're saying. Is that about right?

In other words - the Obama campaign said no way to his little games.

#422 | Posted by SanAntonioRogue at 2008-12-10 10:51 AM

Then why did he lie and say he never had any contact about his replacement? It defys all common sense. Just like your refusal to accept Obama lied about Wright. BTW... Your silence about the evidence you sought is deafening.

"Fact is Fitzgerald has already said Obama is not involved."

Involved in WHAT? You gotta be a newborn babe to believe he didn't recommend a choice or two but there's certainly nothing illegal in that. Axelrod said he knows that HE, meaning Obama, spoke with Blagojevich and he most likely did. So what. Blagojevich said afterwards that HE, meaning Obama, wouldn't give him anything but appreciation. Nothing here is illegal on Obama's part. So WHY the lies?

Your silence about the evidence you sought is deafening.

The facts are nobody with an IQ of 88 would believe Obama had no contact with the Gov about who should replace him. Even his advisors couldn't pull that whopper of a lie off. All one has to do is watch these same advisors back track today.

Again, look at the people FLOP EARS has associated with! Association, YES, It means a lot.

Of course not Bob. They were all motivational sermons. Yeah thats it. When did one plus one not equal two in your world? When did you decide to show your true colors for all to see? Or have you always had this happy go lucky, reasonable mindset about people.

Hmmm. I'll have to check with Joe. But I don't think "hypothetical" and "evidence" are generally compatible in court.

So are confused about the hypothetical scenario? The ignorance of circumstantial eveidence? Or are you unable to see how ridiculous it is to defend your position? Much like #437 you should be laughing at yourself for that post.

Apparently Blagojevich's Washington advisors knowing what Obama would and would not be willing to do is not enough for Democrats to start questioning their Master's ethics. Until Obama is in a prison cell, they will not admit to anything - and even then half of them will say it was a setup. Meanwhile, scant evidence of criminality with regard to people like George Bush continuously evoke use of the term "criminal" and calls for him to be imprisoned. Oh well, just another day here at the retort.

"Apparently Blagojevich's Washington advisors knowing what Obama would and would not be willing to do is not enough for Democrats"

Joe - I really don't see anything in the excerpts you posted that indicate that they "knew" anything about what Obama would or would not do. It looks a lot more like them speculating on possibilities or scenarios to me.

The bottom line to me is still that Obama apparently told them to take a hike when they asked for a quid pro quo.

"The bottom line to me is still that Obama apparently told them to take a hike when they asked for a quid pro quo."

If the quote you rely on for that really did mean that any sort of deal with Obama was off the table, then why did they continue to discuss with Washington advisors possible deals with Obama the very next day - just ones that had Obama one step removed from the process?

Notice the headlines do not place the emphasis on the DEMOCRATIC gov. He joins a list of corupt Il. politians , George Ryan, William Stratton, Otto Kerner.

this is correct and have you noticed a change in the wya the media is covering some of this now that the democrats are 'catching up' to the dirty corrupt republicans????

That's a self retorting retort.

#442 | Posted by JOE

Again, my take on it is that they were speculating on what they might be able to get. When the Obama campaign said no, they began speculating on "Plan B". So far there has been nothing indicating Obama or anyone associated with him negotiated with them, or even encouraged them to think they could get a deal.

If there was any hint of that, I don't think the FBI and Fitz would have been so specific that there was no indication of any involvement by Obama.

San--you are correct that Obama--by the words of Blago--were not giving a quid pro quo.

It appears that the Blago folks were then trying to do an end round with the union to get them something to get Blago something to get Obama something.

That is what Joe is pointing out.

As for how this turns forward--we will just have to see where it goes.

For Obama --Mr. Transparency--he has phucked up --he claims he has not talked with Blago.

Axelrod says they did--now he wants to retract and say he was mistaken.

Is Axelrod really that stupid? I don't think so.

Axelrod was in charge of folks within the Chicago machine before he jumped to Obama's boat.

Fitz stopped the deal--he had to. If Blago had picked the senate seat when all this was known--all hell would have broken out. The people of IL would have a tainted senator--if that person could even survive. And as the docs are showing that senate candidate appears to have agreed to up front money of some sort to the tune of 500k for the seat.

But now Fitz is opening up the Rezko dealings again and this does not bode well for Obama--because he is up to him neck with that crook.

We will just have to see.

Does Obama fire all the US Attorneys when he takes office? Or will Fitz be retained until the investigations are complete?

"But now Fitz is opening up the Rezko dealings again and this does not bode well for Obama--because he is up to him neck with that crook."

It was just the very thing which propelled President-elect McCain to the White House.

Yes, it appears that whoever "Candidate #5" is, that he/she may be in trouble.

As to the Rezko deal, that investigation vis-a-vis Blago was never closed and has been ongoing. And with that case, just like this one, there hasn't been one single allegation of wrongdoing by Obama.

Jackson said he agreed to talk with federal investigators "as quickly as possible" after he consulted with a lawyer.

Bob,

I am unsure of what country you are from, so I can't hate your country. However, let me tell you a bit about my country. It was once the greatest country on Earth. However, for one reason or another, on November 4, it attempted suicide. Some of us who love her are trying to save our fragile and precious little republic before irreparable damage is done in the next four years.

You should come and visit, while it lasts. You may note that we have certain freedoms here that are obviously foreign to you. For one, we can disagree with our leaders without fear of losing our citizenship or being marched off to jail. (This is a large apparent difference between my country and yours.) Strangely enough, I thought this was a freedom that you had enjoyed for the past eight years from whatever country you claim.

Please visit my country while there is still time. Perhaps if you will share your government's apparent methodology with us, we would have an additional way to prevent our free republic from turning into a country like yours.

"Some of us who love her are trying to save our fragile and precious little republic before irreparable damage is done in the next four years."

All due respect, but...

"You have to be partisan to question a blatant lie?")
I guess you have as much trouble with question marks as well.

President-elect Barack Obama will call for his home-state governor to step down, The Associated Press reports.

Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich was arrested Tuesday in a wide-ranging public corruption probe in which he was accused of trying to sell an appointment to fill Obama's vacated Senate seat. According to AP:

Obama spokesman Robert Gibbs says the president-elect agrees with other prominent politicians in Illinois and elsewhere that "under the current circumstances, it is difficult for the governor to effectively do his job and serve the people of Illinois."

Gibbs told the wire service that Obama thinks the Illinois legislature should consider authorizing a special election to fill the seat.

The Illinois assembly should "consider the issue and put in place a process to select a new senator that will have the trust and confidence of the people of Illinois," Gibbs said, according to the Washington Post.

"Did you even bother to read the post in question before you flagged it funny?"

Look - I admitted I made a mistake. Sorry if it bruised your fragile little ego.

But if you go to Chicago Sun Times and look up Tim Novak who uncovered the letters from Obama when he was an attorney for Davis Miner Barnhill & Galland--9 years earlier he started--to give money to Rezmar (Rezkos' company) for his slum lord properties.

Obama wrote the letters to city and gov't officials to give Rezko another 14 million in funding for properties that went into eventual foreclosure. It was a senior citizen project--rehab--in 2002.

Obama was with Rezko and buddy buddy for like 17 years.

Here's what I found from Tim Novak in the SunTimes on Obama-Rezko:

www.suntimes.com

3. One of the firm's not-for-profit clients -- the Woodlawn Preservation and Investment Corp., co-founded by Obama's then-boss Allison Davis -- was partners with Rezko's company in a 1995 deal to convert an abandoned nursing home at 61st and Drexel into low-income apartments. Altogether, Obama spent 32 hours on the project, according to the firm. Only five hours of that came after Rezko and WPIC became partners, the firm says. The rest of the future senator's time was helping WPIC strike the deal with Rezko. Rezko's company, Rezmar Corp., also partnered with the firm's clients in four later deals -- none of which involved Obama, according to the firm. In each deal, Rezmar "made the decisions for the joint venture," says William Miceli, an attorney with the firm.

And re: the letters...

It was one letter, and here it is: media1.suntimes.com

And Factcheck.org says the idea that Obama wrote this to benefit Rezko is bogus.

Still haven't got it right?!?

You still don't understand the concept.

Try this: call your local community college, and ask for their Econ professor. Tell him you think you should be able to compare two different years a half-decade or more apart without factoring in inflation to the equation.

Then time how long he laughs in your face.

Danforth,
Are you really that sad and lonely? Or are you simply desperate for attention? You are clueless about the premise of the thread months ago and you continue to expose your ignorance today. The sad part is nobody argued your pathetic opinion about tax revenues. You decided to expound your contempt on the author of the pasted article and continue to pose the same stupid question. How long do you plan on keeping this subject alive? You are only arguing with yourself and it looks like you are losing that argument as well. I can see why you are a out of work actor. Why would anyone hire a nut like you? Move on little man. There are way more recent posts you can hang your juvenile, worthless hat on.

Thus far in Fiscal Year 2005 (federal fiscal years actually start in October of the previous year), tax receipts are up 10% compared to this point in Fiscal Year 2004. Clearly, the economy has rebounded, and, even with the President's tax relief packages, revenues flowing into the Treasury are up.

Here it is again you two bit, worthless, piece of shit. Look at the fucking date? How are you not some deperate troll? Does it say anything about inflation dumb fuck? Are there any other factors about tax receipts? Like I said a few times now you injected your inflation factor and nobody disagreed. Do you really need to be beaten over the head before you figure out it hurts? I will be happy to accomodate that if it will shut you up on this subject. Get the fuck over it or get a fucking life.

Give the guy credit. He was trying to balance the state budget.

" You are clueless about the premise of the thread months ago and you continue to expose your ignorance today." "Like I said a few times now you injected your inflation factor and nobody disagreed."

Too funny. You posted two links---including a White House press release, for God's sake---trying to back the idiotic "tax cuts increase revenue" meme, neither of which factored inflation. Of course, the funniest part is after all these months you still won't admit your stupidity would get you flunked from a freshman Econ class.

"I can see why you are a out of work actor."

I'll let my cast know ASAP, as I'm on my fourth show in a row with barely a day off. Tell us...do you enjoy being wrong all the time?

"Thus far in Fiscal Year 2005 (federal fiscal years actually start in October of the previous year), tax receipts are up 10% compared to this point in Fiscal Year 2004."

Like I said...you're too stupid to know this doesn't prove anything. And the record year to compare against is 2000, since the tax cuts were first enacted in 2001. Comparing 2004 and 2005, and believing that proves anything, is laughably foolish.

It's official. You guys are ALLLLLLLL crazy.

(This thread should go in the DR Hall of Shame or sumfin, no?)

If democrats had done to America for the last 8 years what republicans have done---I would never vote democrat again. That you still defend those turds shows you belong with them. In another country.

Bob, shut the hell up. I hate to use such an old phrase but you are like a broken record. You spill the same old hatred and lunacy every day. Also, I'll bet there are more people here who say that you exhibit more hatred than I do. In fact, I'd like to know just what I say that you consider hatred. You see? You define hatred as someone with a different point of view than you have. You are the true hater here, Bob. Now, why don't you go out and politic for your two countries idea. I'm sure you'll have so many backers.

For the Republicans, this is a God-send. Between the lingering questions about Dumbo's citizenship, his known ties to domestic terrorists and corrupt politicians, and his drug habit there is no reason that he cannot be effectively stymied for the next two years

Other than the fact that it would damage the country having no solid leadership or bipartisanship in DC for two years.

Not that you care. Party first, right moron?

"What the president-elect said today is correct, David Axelrod misspoke," the aide said.

Obama said today the men had not spoken.

An open question: When they last spoke.

UPDATE: Axelrod says the same in a statement:

I was mistaken when I told an interviewer last month that the President-elect has spoken directly to Governor Blagojevich about the Senate vacancy. They did not then or at any time discuss the subject

What a fucking joke.

I love the DR, If this was a Republican Gov. there would be a dozen threads on this instead of ONE.

Fucking ASSHOLES

If this was a Republican Gov. there would be a dozen threads on this instead of ONE

And can you imagine if a right winger defended the "I misspoke" statement? There'd be a dozen threads on that alone!

BTW, anyone besides me think the governor looks like Stephen King?

Bob, shut the hell up.

How about you KMA?

I hate to use such an old phrase but you are like a broken record.

When people hate my country, I tell them to fuck off. Fuck off.

You spill the same old hatred and lunacy every day.

What hatered and lunacy are you talking about? The part where I say if you hate this country so much--go start your own? TFB. If you hate this country so much--go start your own

Also, I'll bet there are more people here who say that you exhibit more hatred than I do.

Who cares what other idiots like yourself think? Sheep like you maybe.

In fact, I'd like to know just what I say that you consider hatred.

You attrack this country without cause. You hate this country because your guy didn't win.

You see? You define hatred as someone with a different point of view than you have.

No dYnce---that's how YOU define hatred. You aren't bright enough to speak for me. I define hatred as anyone who hates America and what it stands for--which is FREEDOM. You hate freedom--that's why you hate America. You have to control everything.

You are the true hater here, Bob.

Says the duNcE.

Now, why don't you go out and politic for your two countries idea. I'm sure you'll have so many backers.

I don't need to politic for my two countries idea, and it wasn't my idea. I am simply stating facts. This is already two countries. There is the America where its citizens love freedom for all, and there is the America where its citizens just want freedom for those like them. You belong to the anti freedom America. You hate freedom for anyone except those just like you.

America is for lovers of freedom. That doesn't include you. Find a country that has your values. Iran, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Palestine, are all good places to start.

It's a good thing Rod paid for his own fucking toupee and didn't promise to donate it to charity after his last run for office.
