What a fantastic choice for the people of New York and a fitting legacy
for a family who've served this nation so faithfully for decades.

I only hope her children are as positive about this move as they were about cajoling her to vigorously back and campaign for Obama this year.

Seems like a good choice to me. She would bring a certain dignity and grace with her. She's smart, educated, and certainly has the pedigree. And not much baggage, as far as I can tell.

Some one who can carry on in 2016. It looks like a great future.

Love it if it happens

How's this for a scenario:

Kennedy takes the Senate seat, then gets elected in her own right in '12.

Sarah Palin manages not to completely self destruct again, and hangs around.

Obama, of course, is re-elected in '12.

Kennedy vs. Palin for the Presidency in '16.

Who wouldn't love to see THAT?

This is AWESOME!!

I always wondered why there weren't any Kennedy's in government. They have so much to offer! It's a shame it's taken this long.

No RiR NEIL BUSH is owe so much more entitled...

AP is now reporting that Caroline Kennedy approached New York Governor Paterson about taking over Hillary Clinton's Senate seat.

And a funny flag for rightisright! (You were kidding right?)

I think she would be a good pick for the Senate seat.

Qualified--Yes.

en.wikipedia.org

She seems more qualified than the current holder of that seat.

Caroline's experience as little brat in the white house qualifies her for the senate seat. Give me a break!

Hillary, then Caroline...

...what next...a potted plant?

As pure a popularity contest as can be had.
NY deserves clowns like these.

Three words: "'W', the President"

My comparison of Hillary and Caroline to that of a
potted plant was offensive and an apology is in order.

I am sorry for having disparaged potted plants.

(Ok...one letter and two words, but if you pronounce them in your head, or read it aloud, it's three words. Goddamn you people piss me off!!!)

:)

"Three words: "'W', the President""

Betelg, you beat me to it.

look.........not many guys my age havent thought about bagging her down through the years but besides being born into this family.
just what qualifies her to be a senator?

I guess if having that "SILVER SPOON" born into her mouth makes her quaified, then why didnt that same thing matter when the family name is bush
at least the bush family didnt make thier fortune off of a business that was ILLEGAL...........

BL2

She'd be a great pick.

She's been an active representative of the people - working for $1 a year in NYC to reform the school system, taking up a lot of causes on behalf of Americans.

We've lost the sense representatives are supposed to be 'citizen politicians'?

We know the name "Kennedy" sends a chill down your spine, but this one is special.

Great pick if she wants it. And no, you can't 'bag her'. I'd imagine, her marriage aside, that sobriety is an important factor when considering potential bedmates LOL

Of course, intellegence and charm are seen as personality flaws by the Tighties on this board.

No wonder they don't like her.

"I guess if having that "SILVER SPOON" born into her mouth makes her quaified, then why didnt that same thing matter when the family name is bush"

umm..it did. He is still President, much to all our grief.

Great pick if she wants it. And no, you can't 'bag her'. I'd imagine, her marriage aside, that sobriety is an important factor when considering potential bedmates LOL

DAMN>...you use your tongue prettier than a ten dollar whore

MOVIE PLEASE??????

and thats right betel....ever since the commment from "MA RICHARDS" about the old man this charge has been levied against the bush boys

but when it applies to a kennedy, all of a sudden it doesnt matter...........go figure

Bushlover-
To the contrary, I despise dynasty as a governing ideal, which it is in this country. I watched in horror as W Bush took the world's most powerful nation and rendered it in the frying pan. That's one of the reasons I like Obama, who rose by his own merits in a virtual meritocracy.

"at least the bush family didnt make thier fortune off of a business that was ILLEGAL..........."

Bullshit, read up on Prescott and the NAZIs, and Neil and Silverado.

What a dumbass!

I believe that I have done just that thank you very much.....and there is little credibility in much of that same material.

and your attitude in your posts is a reminder of that.................

Well, there was the help from a shadowy muslim-kinda-arab something or other, and then whomever faked his birth certificate, and then of course the lib professors at ivy league lib colleges who couldn't let a black man fail, and then of course everyone knows that William Ayers wrote his book in Kenya...

Speculation on the squawk box sez that Caroline is actually angling fer the gig of Ambassador to the Court of King James in Merry ole London which would be appropriate enuff considering the family's history with the city.

Much easier gig, doncha know.

That sed, Caroline's early and active participation in the Obama camp, much to the dismay of the Clintonistas, definitely earns her some kind of political payback and if she's willing to buckle down and do the work that's entailed by being Senator to a place as diverse and complicated as New Yawk Spud sez give her a chance.

Spud is more concerned about another Kennedy, actually.

If Obama FAILs to nominate RFK Jr as head of the EPA then Spud will be very, very disapointed in the man.

/Not that the opinion of a talking potato, especially a Canadian one, should mean squat to the President Elect or nuthin'. Not sayin'. Just sayin'.

Be Well.

She's been an active representative of the people - working for $1 a year in NYC to reform the school system, taking up a lot of causes on behalf of Americans.
* * * *

I didn't know about that, actually. But considering the protracted decline in NYC schools, she was still overpaid.

Am I the only one that is tired of basically 3 families running this country? I'm so tired of Bush, Clinton and Kennedy and refuse to believe they're the best we have to offer generation after generation.

Pick someone new.

I fro one am glad to see someone Carolines age assuming office and national leadership roles.

The 1960's are over. People in the age group of as the Clintons, McCain, Cheney, W and the like have been replaying conflicts of their youth on the national stage for far too long.

fro = for

Oh goodie. Deposed royal familes can enter the nobility when exiting higher office.

Why not honor the service of other people with little skill, limited capabilities, but great fervor? Why not appoint "Bullhorn Al" Sharpton as U.S. Senator? How long would it take for him to acquire N.Y. ciizenship? Think outside the box. Al has been in "the struggle," and deserves recognition for his efforts.

She's been an active representative of the people - working for $1 a year in NYC to reform the school system, taking up a lot of causes on behalf of Americans.

This was recently. Man, no one can do a good deed in your book if they're a Democrat.

Ozzie, Buvia, BLT:

Please do a little Googling on the phrase "Caroline Kennedy" before posting cheap potshots here.

You'll find that she's extremely well-educated, with a phenomenal track record of professional accomplishment that would be highly relevant to a career in the Senate.

No use you guys making yourselves look any more foolish than usual, mmkay?

Politics aside. At 51 she looks pretty hot.

Its sort of like moths to a flame with that bunch. Especially Oozie. If there's something really, really stupid to be said, count on him to step up.

Nobody named Kennedy. But as long as anyone named Kennedy or Clinton is alive, they have automatic seats in the Congress or in the cabinet. No questions asked. Kinda funny when you think about it, how touchy the Dems are when it comes to the Bushes. But the Kennedy's have been your royal family for over 80 years now. And you want to sign up for twenty more.

Your life, though. I wonder if she'll be working for a dollar a year in the Senate?

I hope the governor of NY rejects more cronyism. The last thing we need is another person thinking they are entitled to a position because of their last name.

She is not qualified for the job and should seek a lower position before she applies. Of course after the election of no resume Obama how could I expect liberals to want a qualified leader.

Its time we got rid of the Kennedy's, Clintons, and Bush's.

"She is not qualified for the job"

Please explain on what you base that statement.

No Person shall be a Senator who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty Years, and been nine Years a Citizen of the United States, and who shall not, when elected, be an Inhabitant of that State for which he shall be chosen. - The Constitution of the United States

"She is not qualified for the job and should seek a lower position before she applies. Of course after the election of no resume Obama how could I expect liberals to want a qualified leader."

I wish to God you would just Google Kennedy's name before you make such asinine and easily disproved statements; she has distinguished herself educationally and professionally, as well as giving a great deal of her time and expertise for public service. I'd ten times rather have Kennedy in the Senate than the badly educated, obviously selfish Sarah Palin (don't think for a moment Sarah doesn't want to go there), and if you had one neuron still firing in that piece of rancid meat you are pleased to call your brain, you would too.

Nothing against Caroline Kennedy as I like her, but she has absolutely no experience for the job. Don't we have enough people in Congress already who don't know what they're doing?

You would think beings Her whole Family as praticially served in some fashion wether it be the Senate the House or the Presidency. She would know what She is doing if She decides to run for the US Senate seat of Hillary's. It's in their bloodline.

Larry

And with Uncle Teddy, "Lion of The Senate" to show her the ropes, no problemo.

This sound exactly like someone we need in Washington:

"Kennedy is an attorney, editor, writer and member of the New York and Washington, D.C. bars. She is one of the founders of the Profiles in Courage Award, given annually since 1990 to a person who exemplifies the type of courage examined in her father's Pulitzer Prize-winning book of the same name. The award is generally given to elected officials who, acting in accord with their conscience, risk their careers by pursuing a larger vision of the national, state or local interest in opposition to popular opinion or powerful pressures from their constituents."

Representatives of the people working for the people and not special interests. What a concept!

She's perfect

I'd really like to know why you think that, CC. What qualifications would you like her to have?

The founding fathers envisioned the Congress being made up of ordinary Americans from every walk of life. Caroline Kennedy is smart, accomplished, and well-spoken. What else does she need?

I rally like her, but am confused as to what she has done to merit the selection? She brings credibility, but unlike Senator Clinton, who truly understands teh whole gamut of government programs that can help her constituents, Caroline Kennedy will have to start from scratch at learning the ropes to programs and politics. A big task even for an experienced manager and politician.

As an aside, Caroline's cousin Robert Kennedy, Jr. is much more in tune with the political environment of NYS, and he is a terrific organizer. But something in the back of my memory bank says he has a volatile personality (is that perception of RFK, Jr., true, anyone?).

If Paterson picks Caroline, he is making a safe choice, empowering a highly regarded friend of the new administration's -- a very good thing to have, and another way for the Governor to get on good terms with the administration. But, from a Senate "management and administrative" level, Caroline Kennedy will need to fill some big shoes to do her job as well as Hillary has.

In twenty years, when Carolyn Kennedy develops some kind of aneurysm, or dies in a freak unicycle accident, it'll be Chelsea Clinton who will be called upon to serve out her term.

As we have seen in Hillary Clinton, Sarah Palin, Al Franken, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Barrack Obama, American Politics has regressed into a popularity contest.

Fact be told, it doesn't matter who is in office. The only thing that seems to matter anymore is which monopoly party has the majority.

Rest assured, if Bill O'Reilly ran against Jack Cafferty for a senate seat, millions of sheeple would tout the legislative qualifications of both of them.

Why? One is an (R) and the other is a (D)...what else matters? It's not about quality government...it's about power and control.

I look forward to reading the foul language, personal attack reasons why I am off-base on this.

I guess if having that "SILVER SPOON" born into her mouth makes her quaified, then why didnt that same thing matter when the family name is bush

Actually, doing business with the Nazi's was illegal. Doing business with the Bin Ladens wasn't illegal, but certainly was a conflict-of-interest.

Oh, one other point, the S&L scandal was illegal, but Papa Bush held off the bank examiners for two weeks so his son could leave no trail for the examiners. They then bought two governorships with the stolen monies.

One family made cash doing running booze.

The other made their money doing business with Hitler and the Bin Laden family and the taxpayers money.

I know, I know, you still think the bootleggers were the truest evil of all because of their name.

Face it, facts are NOT your friend in this argument.

Umm . . . before you libtards start throwing around Hitler references, you'd be advised to learn a thing or two about how Joe Kennedy spent his time during those years. He opposed Lend-Lease, and said that Democracy in England was finished, "and it may be here". He constantly sought an audience with Hitler, and argued for appeasement, all the way up to Pearl Harbor.

Kennedy was a pussy, in a time we needed him not to be. But I digress: this is an anti-Bush board, and it's always been rude to bring up dead and stupid Kennedy's.
