Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs
Tuesday, December 02, 2008

Republican U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss won a run-off election in Georgia on Tuesday, CNN said, denying Democrats the chance for a 60-seat "super majority" in the Senate that would have enabled them to pass legislation virtually at will.

I voted for Chambliss last week!

Looks like Chambliss is a few points ahead in polls.

As for Franken vs Coleman, it is not inconceivable that Democrats may be plotting to steal it for Franken.

"I voted for Chambliss last week!"

What an idiot!

Go Saxby!

It will be Chambliss - I have every faith in the voters of this state.

You can rely on them - and rely on them absolutely - to choose the most corrupt, negligent, arrogant ignoramuses available on any ticket.

There is actually very little reason to hold elections here - we should just investigate to see who's lodged most firmly in the Good Old Boy network, and give offices to them without further ado.

Cute. OK, I'll play.

It's not inconceivable that takitez would profer an excuse that blames illegal activities by the Democrats if Sen. Coleman loses re-election.

In the Coleman Franken race they miraculously found a box of 171 ballots.

The claima was that there wre 31 more votes than voters signed up.

After the brouhaha and re-running the numbers and checking the lists--it was resolved.

Franken gained 37 votes but is still 305 behind Coleman.

They should be done this week on the recount--then the challenges are left. Unless they go to court.

"As for Franken vs Coleman, it is not inconceivable that Democrats may be plotting to steal it for Franken."

Maybe that was God telling him that.

Hans

I am sure no one wants any stealing for anyone to occur.

I expect sexy Chablis will win-don't think the Dems will be as fired up to re-vote as the GOPpers who are sure they saving America from muslimoid anarchist socialist Democrats.
I mean, these are the fools who voted twice for the Dufus-in-Chief with clear consciences (if somewhat cloudy thinking)

Go Saxby!

Why Murphy? What has Chambliss done thus far to make you so enthusiastically support his reelection? What great things do you forsee him doing if he wins another term? What is your analysis of his job performance to date?

Oh. . . (R)

PS: Franken campaign is reporting Coleman's lead down to around 50.

San--Saxby is pro military, pro energy and like NG3 states--puts the stops on the Dem majority filibuster in the Senate.

And the Star Tribune shows 305 for Coleman

www.startribune.com

"You can rely on them - and rely on them absolutely - to choose the most corrupt, negligent, arrogant ignoramuses available on any ticket."

After living in Ga. fer most of my 50yrs, I can safely say that you are, fer the most part (see: Cater, Barnes, Cleland), correct.

Was Carter corrupt? And how can you say Cleland was corrupt--the war hero with one limb left?

And what was Saxby guilty of to be corrupt negligent or even arrogant?

64 to 36%....for the Good Guys.... what happened to the BOmania numbskulls? Too busy out spending welfare money on crack.....?

"Was Carter corrupt? And how can you say Cleland was corrupt--the war hero with one limb left?"

Poorly phrased on my part; those were exceptions.

Murphy:

Anyone who's worked for the State of Georgia can tell you all about Max "Poor Me" Cleland. The rest of your questions are too staggering to answer.

FOX just called Saxby the winner.

From: newsmax.com

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has warned Minnesota election officials that they "must ensure no voter is disenfranchised." That has been widely seen as a signal that the Senate could intervene if Franken loses by a minuscule margin.

A spread of less than a hundred votes would make it easier for Reid and Senate Democrats to refuse to recognize Coleman's reelection, if state officials do certify him the winner later this month, as now appears likely. Senate intervention could prove costly, however, and would stir up partisan rancor and resentment.

Friday is the deadline for completion of the recount, and legal challenges are expected.

And a perfect track record for voter idiocy remains unbroken.

"what happened to the BOmania numbskulls?"

Oh, I don't know. Maybe enjoying:

US House: larger majority

US Senate: larger majority

Governor's mansions: majority Democratic

State legislatures: majority Democratic

The White House: Democratic-elect

The Good Guys win.

How the fuck can anybody vote fer a guy with a name like Saxby Chambliss?

Doesn't even sound like a real name.

Sounds like a cartoon villain or sommat.

Snidely Whiplash's cousin maybe.

That sed, Spud agrees with the consensus on the thread that Georgia consists mostly of wrongheaded whackjobs who will prolly hand it back to this sorry sack of shiat.

/Spud paraphrases.

Be Well.

And you think Barack Hussein Obama is a real name???

But the GOP has Saxby Chambliss tonight. Another back-bencher.

LOL!

Hans

I heard either Chuck Todd or Charlie Cook say on Hardball tonight that if Max Cleland had run this year, he would have won. Too bad he didn't.

Max lost last time--didn't want a repeat.

MSLSD says a lot of things that don't compute.

Maybe, Murphy, but Todd and Cook are pollsters and whoever made the comment did so based on voting trends in the last election, which overall were toward the Democrats.

"good guys"

It must be very freeing to be that blindly optimistic. Good for you Hans.

As far as I'm concerned the constant re-electing of the two party system is proof that there is no intelligent life left on this planet. But I guess a filibuster proof majority in the senate IS slightly more terrifying than one which is merely filled with sellout two-party government growers, so I'm going to tentatively consider this one a win.

Of course in the grand scheme, we all lose.

Sounds a lot like the same type of thinking the Repubs had in 2002/2004. Be careful, it cost them a lot, it could just as easily do the same to us.

Yep. It is the name of the President-elect of the United States of America. And I chortle with mirth each time I think of you having to hear it, see it, and live it for at least the next 4 years.

Is that petty and small of me. Oh hell yeah!

Does mean that Franken will stop trying to steal the election?

All Franken's got to do is wait until another few thousand more ballots appear in trunks of cars, under a rug or wherever else they can creatively produce them.

"I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and gosh darnit, I'm going to win no matter what it takes!"

Yaaaaaaawn.

Expect to see the retard that Alaskans call 'Governor' thinking this is a new mandate for her.

Chambliss is a shitbag.

The only reason Florida does not fall off into the ocean is because Georgia sucks.

Saxby is a corrupt evil man. I hope he gets caught doind something illegal and rots in prison forever. I hate republicans!

Stunning Rebuke for Obama: Ga. Re-elects Chambliss in Landslide
Republican Senator Saxby Chambliss won a stunning double-digit victory over his Democrat opponent Jim Martin. President-elect Obama had strongly endorsed Martin as Democrats poured millions to win the state in hopes of gaining a filbuster-proof Senate. BOmania failed. The Messiah fizzled.

"Stunning defeat"?

BWAAAAA

Georgians are just to stupid to vote for their own best interests.

Georgians are just to stupid to vote for their own best interests.

Sorry, but a filibuster proof majority with the House and Presidency controlled by the same party is not in ANYBODY'S interest no matter which party it is. Of course you are too stupid to see that.

I will wait and see. Something is going to happen and I trust Congress and the new President to do their best a screw things up. Carter four more years....

To be truthful, I will give Obama a chance. Just like I did Jimmy.

Congress there is no hope for them. They spend....spend...spend...and who's money are they spending???? daaa

When one party needs a vote from the other party, guess what happens---a deal is made---pork. No deal--no vote--the bill doesn't pass. So, the more votes needed from the other side, the more pork needed to pass the bill. That's why there is so much pork.

If one party has a Super Majority, it needs no votes from the other side, so the pork is cut way down. In addition, the party with the Super majority can advance their agenda without restriction---if it is good, we all win. If it is bad, it is discarded, and we try something else. The party in the minority can blame all the mistakes on the majority. If the party in the majority is doing a good job, and things are going well, they should be rewarded.

Maybe you can tell me what the bad thing would be if republicans had a Super Majority---what are the bad things they would advance?

You have been to GA right? Atlanta proudly proclaims itself as a "chocolate city" and many of the Urban & Rap albums topping the charts right now were made in Atlanta, its the new hotbed of urban sound and all the big acts are going there to work. Is everything about race with you guys? Is it just not OK to be white @ all? You are the only side consistently bringing up race, your hangup but please get over it!

That would be so nice but you've got to be joking right? Do you really think either side w/ a blank check would spend LESS? We should all know better!

Did anyone see Chambliss's Family photo on the Daily Show last night?

The dirty old man was firmly grasping his granddaughter's breast. The photo had been used during Chambliss's campaign. Will we see more "no sex or its education before marriage" Conservatives caught in compromising situations, like Edwards?

Too funny. Now it's a good thing to have divided Government?
Hypocrites.

Saxby is anything BUT for the veterans. He voted against the new GI bill. He sat out Vietnam on deferments, and then accused a man who lost 3 limbs in Vietnam of being unpatriotic.

Of Course Saxby wins. What do you expect in a state that is LAST in the country in education? It is nothing but the in-bred, mouth breathing, redneck, rebel flag waving morons in GA that are in the majority. Look at the Govenor, he can't think his way out of a wet paper bag.

So I guess that since there won't be a fillibuster proof majority now, that we should expect a legislative quagmire the next four years?

Yep, the lazy ass democratic party majority will whine and bitch about how they can't get anything done and their supporters will fall in line agreeing that they shouldn't and can't get anything done because they don't have MOB rule.

Never mind about making good bills and getting them passed, we will have 4 more years of POLITICAL bull shit bills never actually addressing the problems of the nation and the lazy do nothing democratic party majority will whine and cry and bitch and moan the whole time about republicans not supporting their political bull shit bills.

I kind of think the democratic party is not going to last in majority past 4 years, people like me won't stand for it.

You don't seem to know the difference between an excuse and an observation.

Did the Republicans in the last Congress set a new record for filibusters, or did they not?

"they filibustered our bull shit political bills"

Were they ALL bullshit political bills, or just bills that you didn't particularly agree with?

Wait for it --- its coming!

Awe too late ----- Chambliss and a few wingdings have already declared his win a "Mandate" from the American People, even though it was not the American people who had a say in this (they have already elected Obama by huge margins) but instead only the decedents of Criminals (the first colony of Georgia was settled by convicted criminals and was the first in the new nation to need assistance, more commonly known today as Welfare)!

Anyway, Poetic Justice would demand a dust off of the "Nuclear Option" so as to stop the "Party of Obstruction" from holding up the peoples business!

Bill and Hillary Clinton will give Obama the Arkansas Flu. Just watch!!

That anybody would vote for a Republican ever again is stunning to me. How many catastrophic failures are needed before the American electorate realize that Republican policies lead only to ruin? Perhaps if the Democrats had achieved the super-majority, we would finally see progressive changes in America that would reverse the course toward a bright and hopeful future. At best, we will now see watered-down bills that will only marginally change the status quo. We must hope that Americans will see the Republicans as the party of blundering obstruction in the 2010 election and finally give total control over to the Democratic party. At least that will give President Obama 2 years of unimpeded rule to fully implement his agenda.

This country is like a large wagon. Some folks are just riding while the rest are pulling it. Right now we have about 40% riding and the number is rising. When it gets to 50% riding, the wagon is gonna stall and the "pullers" are gonna leave. We should listen to some voices of the past.

"The budget should be balanced, the Treasury should be refilled, public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled, and the assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed lest Rome becomes bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance." -- Cicero , 55 BC

"The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not."
Thomas Jefferson

"I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them."
Thomas Jefferson

"My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government."
Thomas Jefferson

That's progressive changes according to you & screw the other 55+ million who didn't vote for BO right? Only a lib would think that way & then accuse the other side of being obstructionists when your very definition of the term means "anyone who doesn't agree lock-step with us". If by progressive change you mean European Socialism & the redistribution of wealth, we'll pass thanks. Please read #73 again. You need a history lesson. Any party w/ too much power is a bad thing, particularly when its one of these 2 parties! You would think that would be something everyone could agree on.

Workers pull and silver spooned assholes, like Shrub, ride. Those who see unemployed laborers as the problem are misguided. The real problems are with too much inherited wealth and the way these people use their wealth to game the system. They are leaches with an impact, not welfare queens.

Those who resent the down and out while worshipping phoney, lazy, leaders are fools.

Saxby Chambliss is a despicable human being. He would still be a despicable human being if he had a (D) after his name and not an (R). What this draft evader did to a man who lost three limbs fighting for his country is inexcusable, only a man with not an ounce of decency in his body would have done it. There's something profoundly wrong with Georgia that they have allowed this unspeakably disgusting sorry excuse for a man to represent them for the next six years.

I imagine he will be a pariah in the Senate. He should be, anyway. Way to go, Georgia.

Chambliss is a kid diddler. I saw him fondle his grand daughter. Typical southern Republican behavior, but still most creepy.

Workers pull and silver spooned assholes, like Shrub, ride.

Bullshit. Show me one fact to prove this? The very "silver spooned assholes" that you say are riding, not pulling are in reality paying 95% of the nations taxes. That counts as pulling in my book. Maybe you have different criteria?

Chambliss is a kid diddler. I saw him fondle his grand daughter. Typical southern Republican behavior, but still most creepy.

To that, I'll get angry and give a resounding, FUCK YOU, on behalf of anyone who's ever been a victim of anything of that nature. Making light of it to get laughs when it isn't remotely funny.

Jerk!

Further if you saw something like that & did nothing what would that make you hero!
Jesus!

Exactly HBG,

Montecore is a sick fuck. Charges like that are no laughing matter. If he has proof of something he needs to turn that proof over to the authorities. If he doesn't have proof, this is one of the rare cases where I think someone should be banned from the DR and then sued by the damaged party into non-existence for libel.

"Montecore is a sick fuck. Charges like that are no laughing matter. If he has proof of something he needs to turn that proof over to the authorities."

I think he was probably referring to this... (wait until the end)

beltwayblips.com

Smooth.

Ok... so your point? Has he reported this observation to the authorities? Another questions is: why was Montecore looking at a 13 year old's breasts in order to see this in the first place?

Seriously though, this is far from being proof of being a "kiddy diddler". I restate what I said before:

"Montecore is a sick fuck. Charges like that are no laughing matter. If he has proof of something he needs to turn that proof over to the authorities. Those who resent the down and out while worshipping phoney, lazy, leaders are fools.

Fair point but what about those in power who exploit the "down & out" while doing everything in their power to keep them that way to solidify a voting base and pitch out racist and anti-elderly, and lack of compassion, mean, and any number of other insults on anyone who calls them on it? And again, are all rich people who inherit wealth lazy & bastards? I hardly think so. If so, why does the left still have the big "O" everytime someone says the word Kennedy? Of course, those boys are hot........

"Ok... so your point? Has he reported this observation to the authorities? Another questions is: why was Montecore looking at a 13 year old's breasts in order to see this in the first place?"

Retract the claws. I wasn't defending anybody - just giving you the pertinent source.

It was on several blogs, as well as the Daily Show yesterday as a "WTF Moment".

At first I thought Monte's comment was somewhat defamatory as well - but then I saw that video, laughed my ass off, and realized that that's probably what he was referring to. In any case, at least in my state, a defendant cannot escape liability for defamatory factual assertions simply by claiming that the statements were a form of ridicule, humor or sarcasm. I usually err on the side of not accusing people of crimes over the internet (except when I call ted kennedy a killer).

It was on several blogs, as well as the Daily Show yesterday as a "WTF Moment".

Were any of those blogs non-partisan? The Daily Show sure isn't. Sounds more like a last ditch attempt to influence the run-off. Incidentally, it failed.

"Georgia should be embarrassed tonight."

Georgia is never embarrassed; come down here sometime if you doubt me. Total racism (enthusiastically engaged in by all races), raping and pillaging of the planet with 4000-square-foot McMansions, SUVs, boats, and 4-wheelers, out-of-control, foul-mouthed kids the size of Hyundais, deliberately affected Jubilation T. Cornpone accents (God forbid anyone should think you're intelligent or educated), Good Old Boy Network politics, and more and more and more.

As for Franken vs Coleman, it is not inconceivable that Democrats may be plotting to steal it for Franken.

there is little doubt as to this statement because for all of thier bloviating and lecturing about election of 2000 and 04...noone can steal an election like a democrat......talk to people in south texas even as far back as LBJ getting elected to the senate.

and its so typical that people who would STILL love to see john edwards and blowjob billy in powere are talking shit about how people in georgia should feel about this result

THEY SHOWED YOU HOW They feel by electing him and trying to keep the blank check out of democrat hands...

and it is completely right that IF the shoe were on the other foot as it WAS>

that the left, when confronted with a possible 60 republican votes in the senate would be lecturing us about how the founders would be really upset because they intended to have checks and balances in government...........

so if you want to talk about being embarrased by election results, I am always embarrassed every time shiela jackson lee gets re elected into congress from here in houston.

Were any of those blogs non-partisan? The Daily Show sure isn't. Sounds more like a last ditch attempt to influence the run-off. Incidentally, it failed.

What a crock of shit. The only thing honest about this post was the part about racism occurring on both sides. However none of the things you mentioned (including the racism bit) are unusual for ANYWHERE in the country.

Hint: Most of the world speaks "Queen's (no, that doesn't mean New York) English"... American's don't. To the majority of the world, ALL American's have a "cornpone" accent. Living in Georgia currently myself, I can tell you that those accents are not faked 99% of the time.

Of course maybe you just happen to hang out with a particularly uneducated, insincere, racist crowd with morbidly obese and undisciplined kids... that would explain your view. Birds of a feather...

Nice job, Sarah!

I don't know. You seem hell-bent on picking a fight, but I'm not arguing or disagreeing with you. I simply provided you with a piece of information.

SAR,

Actually, I am not. I was simply making an observation on what was likely playing into this "story" being broken in the manner and with the timing in which it happened. If there is any venom, it is not directed at you but rather at those that would suggest such a foul thing about a person with no proof.

And yes... I know that in my 12:10 post it should have been "Americans" not "American's". Caught myself after posting.

Spudster has it wrong again, as usual....

Barack stands for "Stupid, arrogant Asshole"...

But seriously, there is NO definitition for the word "Barack" in Hebrew because, just like the man himself (who anyone with a brain knows is an empty suit), the word doesn't exist.

Now there is a "Barack" in Hungarian, but it the Brand Name of an Apricot Brandy sold in Hungary.

To believe what The Messiah says, you have to consume a couple of bottles of "Barack" before listening to him.

What it REALLY IS in the Bible is the name of a military commander who, with Deborah, destroyed the Canaanite army under Sisera. Judges 4.

That is the reality of the name Barack, as opposite to the Obamarobot's fictional spewings that the Spudster perpetuates...

Crappy English is abundant and not only in the South. You've seen "My Cousin Vinny" right? WTF is a "yute"? LOL

moo

fact remains that there is a definite bias toward anyone who speaks with a southern accent and even the charge that georgians shoud be embarrassed because of this result is proof of that bias and even more.....

and I also saw the pic of him and his granddaughter and it was so obvious that he wasnt 'groping' her like some suggested here

and there is ANOTHER bias that we see and hear all the time in the entertainment world

for some reason people there think its funny when on of thier characters says something about marrying thier cousins and shit like that.....

I dont even LIKE my cousin

Actually, Spud WAS wrong on Barack... but so are you TSG:

First of all, Barack Obama's name isn't taken from Hebrew, it is taken from Swahili. Secondly, there IS a word "barack" in Hebrew and it means what Spud said it means:

wiki.answers.com

Barack Obama's first name is the anglicized version of Baraka, which means 'blessing' in Kiswahili (aka Swahili), a language spoken by Senator Obama's Kenyan father.

The word "Barack" is shared among several languages. First, it is a word in the (en.wikipedia.org) Semitic family of languages. As such it has a root in Hebrew (but written baruch), a version in Aramaic (berek), a version in Arabic (baraka). (See Strong's Hebrew Bible Dictionary, entries 1288-1294.) It also occurs as a loan word in non-Semitic languages that have been influenced by these Semitic languages, such as Kiswahili (the most widely spoken African language). As often happens, cognate words are similar in pronunciation. What appears in a later-appearing language may sound like something else in the earlier language. And in English we sometimes see words that are pronounced the same and even spelled the same, but that have very different meanings.

Well, he wasn't entirely wrong..

Rude, insulting stereotypes are accepted & encouraged as long as the victims of said stereotypes are white, southern, and preferably male. Insults to women are accepted but only if they meet the first 2 criteria. Exception, Sarah Palin, she isn't southern but the term "redneck" can be applied ad nauseum as she is not a liberal female politican and therefore afforded no protection. The fact that she is attractive can be used as an excuse to exclude her from any protected female class. No pantsuits, no protection.

I know Spud was trying to be funny. Not surprisingly it was an epic fail.

Actually, dumbass, it was a reference to a popculture phenomenon that you utterly FAILed to get in yer own mini epic way.

If you had read Spud's brilliant, witty and insightful thread entitled Sarah Silverman: The Great Schlep you would have gotten that but as it is you seem content to wallow in yer own ignorance.

To re-cap. Sarah Silverman, an American comedienne of Jewish descent, posted a vid before the election encouraging Jews with relatives in Florida to reason with them into voting for Barack Obama, if that failed they were to essentially blackmail them into voting for Barack Obama.

Part of that reasoning included the joke you failed to get.

Get it?

No need to thank Spud.

Enlightening the ignorant is wot Spud does.

It's who he is.

Now, in terms of yer "epic fail" remark, remind Spud fer a sec cos Spud has quite fergotten...

Did Obama WIN in Florida or did McLame FAIL there?

^_^

Spud and Sarah FTW!

Be Well.

/Admittedly, it's partially the blog-gods fault here fer not having the insight and testicular fortitude to move Spud's thread onto the front page.

A big win for all those with 45 chromosomes.

Actually, dumbass, it was a reference to a popculture phenomenon that you utterly FAILed to get in yer own mini epic way.

If you had read Spud's brilliant, witty and insightful thread... blah blah blah

So, Spud is entirely self-serving, self-absorbed, and arrogant. No surprise but duly noted, and the source is summarily dismissed.

For that matter, the funniest thing Sarah Silverman did was the "I'm F**cking Matt Damon" song, which was then out-done in hilarity by Jimmy Kimmel and pretty much everyone else on the planet with a camera, youtube account, and a modicum of talent.

As you can see in the quote you posted from me, I gave you credit for TRYING to be funny... but just like Sarah Silverman, you have failed epically.

You enlightening the ignorant is a case of the blind leading the blind.

Get it?

So can any of you ... here give us some sort of target date when you will FINALLY GET OVER THIS BULLSHIT?

That would be possible if he would just let himself fade into history and obscurity like his predecessors instead of continually inserting himself into modern politics.

Bill Clinton eyes role, too... (politico.com)

Seriously though, past presidents on both sides of the aisle are continually brought up in regards to some of their more defining moments in that office by those on this forum and elsewhere... Bill Clinton included. The fact that he is the most recent (until now) Democratic president makes him a natural target. Get over it yourself.

Am I the only person on this tread who recognized the Spud's definition for "Barack" was intended as a joke?

Nope... I understood his intention (as I have mentioned in two different posts). I just pointed out that his intention failed.

So now that you've seen the video, have you called to report Chambliss, Moonpieman? Why not? Fuck - one morning, two missed pop references. You need to get out more, old man.

Sorry about what happened to you when you were a kid, Hatebiggov. Maybe some therapy is in order?

"What a crock of shit. The only thing honest about this post was the part about racism occurring on both sides. However none of the things you mentioned (including the racism bit) are unusual for ANYWHERE in the country."

Dear MuuMuu:

If you'll read what I actually wrote, you will see that nowhere did I claim that Georgia was unique in these things, only that Georgians are astonishingly unabashed about them; the only place I've ever seen to beat it is New Jersey. I stand by my assertion about the synthetic accents; people here actually caution newcomers and the educated about "talkin' down" to natives and long-term residents. In fact, I think one of the reasons George Bush is still widely approved of here is that in spite of being educated at the Phillips Academy, Yale and Harvard, he speaks with a fake Southern accent.

Malbalanced.

"I think you meant to say debalanced."

Dear SAR:

You need to understand - James Dean considers himself to be the Balancerer.

"You need to understand - James Dean considers himself to be the Balancerer."

LOL!

Hans

So now that you've seen the video, have you called to report Chambliss, Moonpieman?

No, because unlike you I saw no molestation in that video.

Main Entry: molest Listen to the pronunciation of molest
Function: transitive verb
Etymology: Middle English, from Anglo-French molester, from Latin molestare, from molestus burdensome, annoying; akin to Latin moles mass
Date: 14th century

1: to annoy, disturb, or persecute especially with hostile intent or injurious effect2: to make annoying sexual advances to ; especially : to force physical and usually sexual contact on

The key is intent.

Now, can you prove that he INTENDED to do anything (never mind hostilely intend). Similarly can you prove that he intended anything sexual? If you can't, and you still claim it is molestation, then by your definition you would be molesting women every time you are in a large, closely packed crowd and accidentally brush up against a woman's breast or posterior.

Thought not. Move along little man; the grown-ups are talking and it is rude to interrupt.

If you'll read what I actually wrote, you will see that nowhere did I claim that Georgia was unique in these things, only that Georgians are astonishingly unabashed about them; the only place I've ever seen to beat it is New Jersey.

I disagree. By what objective standard do you make the determination that Georgians are any more unabashed than people anywhere else in the country?

people here actually caution newcomers and the educated about "talkin' down" to natives and long-term residents

No, that is just the idiot crowd that YOU hang out with. I have NEVER heard a Georgian say anything remotely similar to that except in a joking fashion making light of a stereotype.

Again, not funny. Who said anything happened to me sicko? Just because I have a moral center naturally I would have to be, oh what's the psycho-babble word you'd expect, lashing out? Maybe I'm just disgusted by your sense of humor or in this case, lack thereof? I'm just pointing out that accusations like that true or not ruin lives and while I'm all for free speech & going after each other and the issues, could we all agree that somethings are just not funny or even worth trying to make a joke about? What if you were the 13 yr old in the pic who just happened to be related to a politician? I mean, you are human right? Maybe instead of worrying about the creepy politician, we should be worried about you. You seem quite obsessed with his alleged proclivities and what may have happened to me, a total stranger. Get your jollies on your own time freak!

I hope he gets caught doind something illegal and rots in prison forever. I hate republicans!

Wow! What a hater. Based on stereotypical thinking. And unashamed. Do you ever wonder what on the political scene results in such vitriol?

Are you under the impression that affiliation with the Democrat Party entails being "a hater?" Is it part of the package? There surely seems to be a great deal of not pent up, but released hostility among you folk. How will you'all function when Bush has exited the scene, and the world is still not idyllic? It'll require formulation of a new model of reality to replace the hate cult.

rasta, what other effects does your visceral hatred have on your life nowadays? Aside from your public declarations that you are "a hater.?"

Oh rasta, is there a deliberate affiliation with your namesakes. Are you a wannabe violence perpetrator?

The Rastas are a heavily armed group in eastern Congo that engage in rape and other violent crimes. The following is from the New York Times:

According to victims, one of the newest groups to emerge is called the Rastas, a mysterious gang of dreadlocked fugitives who live deep in the forest, wear shiny tracksuits and Los Angeles Lakers jerseys and are notorious for burning babies, kidnapping women and literally chopping up anybody who gets in their way. United Nations officials said the so-called Rastas were once part of the Hutu militias who fled Rwanda after committing genocide there in 1994, but now it seems they have split off on their own and specialize in freelance cruelty. Honorata Barinjibanwa, an 18-year-old woman with high cheekbones and downcast eyes, said she was kidnapped from a village that the Rastas raided in April and kept as a sex slave until August. Most of that time she was tied to a tree, and she still has rope marks ringing her delicate neck. The men would untie her for a few hours each day to gang-rape her, she said.

Your kinda folks?

"There surely seems to be a great deal of not pent up, but released hostility among you folk...It'll require formulation of a new model of reality to replace the hate cult."

Do the childish remarks and insults ever end from the libs in this country? I swear, libs are the most immature people around.

"Yes, everyone who doesn't share your viewpoints are idiots. My least favorite liberal trait of arrogance shows itself yet again."

You conservatives got some damn room to talk. You've spent the last eight years steamrolling over everything and everybody who dared make a peep about observance of the Constitution, separation of church and state, fiscal prudence or free speech. Our media haven't even been allowed to depict coffins returning from the senseless war you folks stirred up.

And you talk about arrogance now that Americans are beginning to speak up for themselves after eight years of this nation being turned into a gulag from sea to shining sea? What you are hearing is a bunch of seriously abused people finding their voice again. Deal with it.

P.S.: MuuMuu - Are we talking about the same Georgia? There is no Tblisi in the one where I live.

Mary. The Media can depict all the coffins they want; they just can't ttake any photos. Learn English

Fiscal Prudence??? LOL
I am sure Obama will cut spending when he spends $300 billion a year on healthcare for the peasants with no careers. Observance of the Constitution. The Constitution is a useless piece of paper which should be sold to the highest bidder to help pay for the bailout of GM. Speration of Church and State is a joke. there should be a national church that all citizens must be a member of to vote. While we are at it, only landowners should have voting rights. Down with the peasants

I am always embarrassed every time shiela jackson lee gets re elected into congress from here in houston.

God, so am I. That woman speaks with a 7th grade education. Total embarrassment.

AU,

Are you a Gram Parsons fan? I think I remember you saying something to that effect. I may be wrong.

Gram Parsons was cool.

You may be remembering the story I told about Phil Kaufman, i.e. "The Road Mangler" who was a close friend and road manager of Parsons.

Parsons wanted to be cremated, but when he died his family insisted on a casket and burial. So, Phil stole his body from the funeral home, took it to the desert, poured a gallon of gas on him on the side of the road, and lit him on fire. A far cry from a funeral pyre for sure, but hey, he tried, right? LOL

Kaufman went to prison for that one, and became a legend in the music business. Not so much for the way he cremated Parsons, but for the fact he tried to help him carry out his wishes.

Phil Kaufman! Right.

Have you ever seen The Life And Hard Times Of Guy Terrifico?

He was NOT injured in combat. He was on R&R, hopped out of a helicopter and saw a grenade on the ground.

Dumbass ASS-U-MED he had dropped it and clipped it to his clothes. It was live and detonated.

Tragic, yes. Heroic, no.

Stupid, definitely. But war has a sharp learning curve; something you have never experienced.

Montewhore never tires of the 'old man' shit. She has no idea of who she's talking to, their age, or experiences.

Somehow, in her vacuous little mind, this is supposed to be a bold insult?

Sounds like she's just a cranky old bitch who spends her time on blogs when she's not yelling at kids to stay off her lawn.

Are you just too old to get some fresh material?

You got that from Ann Coulter's article or WorldNetDaily, didn't you? Here's the actual account:

Army General Order 4361, dated June 9, 1968, states that the Silver Star was awarded to U.S. Army Capt. Max Cleland "for gallantry in action while engaged in military operations involving conflict with an armed hostile force in Vietnam." In 1968, then Capt. Cleland was in action at the battle of Khe Sanh. Below is the language contained in his Silver Star Order:

"Awarded: Silver Star; Date Action: 4 April 1968; Theater: Republic of Vietnam

"Action: For gallantry in action while engaged in military operations involving conflict with an armed hostile force in the Republic of Vietnam. Captain Cleland distinguished himself by exceptionally valorous action on 4 April 1968, while serving as communications officer of the 2nd Battalion, 12th Calvary during an enemy attack near Khe Sanh, Republic of Vietnam.

"When the battalion command post came under a heavy enemy rocket and mortar attack, Capt. Cleland, disregarding his own safety, exposed himself to the rocket barrage as he left his covered position to administer first aid to his wounded comrades. He then assisted in moving the injured personnel to covered positions. Continuing to expose himself, Capt. Cleland organized his men into a work party to repair the battalion communications equipment which had been damaged by enemy fire. His gallant action is in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service, and reflects great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army.

"Authority: By direction of the President, under the provisions of the Act of Congress, approved 9 July 1968."

The action cited occurred on April 4, 1968, four days before the grenade explosion that cost Sen. Cleland both legs and an arm.

As has been widely reported in the Atlanta Constitution beginning in 1968, then-Capt. Cleland, an Army Signal Officer, volunteered for infantry service to relieve the stranded Marines and members of the Army's 1st Cavalry at the battle of Khe Sanh.

While disembarking from a transport helicopter, Capt. Cleland reached for a grenade he believed had become dislodged from his web gear. Later it was discovered that the grenade belonged to a young soldier new to the theater. That soldier had improperly prepared the grenade pin for easy detonation and had dropped it while coming off the helicopter. The grenade exploded and severely injured Capt. Cleland.

The Silver Star is the third-highest valor decoration of the United States. Sen. Cleland also was awarded a Soldier's Medal, Bronze Star, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device (1960), Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Parachutist Badge.

Thank you for your interest in Sen. Cleland and your interest in the campaign.

Tommy Thompson

I am a patriot and a veteran. But I also believe in being honest and accurate.

Most partisan hacks imply that Cleland was injured in combat. The fact is that he was horribly injured, but the cause was his own stupidity.

When you consider the horrors of Khe Sahn and a thousand other hellholes, it's offensive to talk about Cleland's injuries as 'heroic.'

The guy made a terrible mistake that altered his life. But it was his mistake. And it was not even in a combat situation. Don't let partisan slobs like Handjob insult true heroes with their lying tripe.

At least this time you prove my point by quoting me.

The Dems don't have 60 seats, and Lieberman also tacks right sometimes.

Divided government is always better.

And the Republicans are better as the opposition party: it forces them to stand on some principles.

Lacking any principle other that a lust for power, Democrats can't do that. When they are out of power all they do is whine, and when they get back, all they do is payback and kickback.

Same here actually, my companies terminal just happens to be on the south side of Atlanta.

It has always amused me that no one else in the Bush family sounds like they're auditioning to play Mr. Ziffel in a Green Acres remake.

That doesn't mean a darned thing. My mother lived most of her life up north... but she never had a northern accent even though some of her other siblings did, even the ones that lived there less time than her.

I grew up in the south and had a fairly neutral accent for most of my life, in the last 5-10 years I have picked up a Tennessee accent, which is odd because the only southern accents I have been around since I was 11 are North Carolina and Georgia. I don't count Florida because Daytona Beach where I spent all my time there tends to be accent neutral as well.

It isn't an affected accent. I am not "faking it". I don't even particularly want it. Some people just pick up accents easier than others, and not everyone in the same family will be affected the same. None of my siblings have a southern accent, and neither do my kids despite them having lived in the south all their lives.

My wife has a heavy Georgia accent, but her mother didn't, and neither does her sister (but her brother does).

So your idea that somehow he must be faking it because he didn't have one years ago, and because the rest of his family doesn't is just a faulty premise based on ignorance. Not calling you stupid on this one... just ignorant.

Let me clarify something before the anal retentive "gotcha crowd" (like Hans) chimes in...

By saying my mom lived most of her life, I am speaking of her YOUNG life. The didn't move to Florida till she was a teenager. Still, she doesn't have a northern or southern accent even though some of her younger siblings (of which there are 6) do still have a northern accent.

I've lived in Tennessee over 20 years. I don't have a hint of southern accent.

If Bush didn't have one by the time he was 40 that phony Texas accent of his wouldn't have occured unless he was desperate to find an identity and pawn himself off as a 'down home' Texan. His accent wasn't even as pronounced as it is now when he ran for President in 2000. He wanted to come off as a cowboy.

I should mention I'm quite good a impressions. I can nail several regional southern accents, various British accents depending on region, or any number of foreign countries citizens who speak English as a second language.

Not talking about your situation at all, but Bush just wanted to pawn himself off as a cowboy with his phony accent.

I've also learned that 55 MPH in Atlanta means 70 MPH LOL

Chambliss is scum. Garbage wrapped in human skin. Georgia should be embarrassed tonight.

Chambliss is a shitbag.

Saxby is a corrupt evil man. I hope he gets caught doind something illegal and rots in prison forever. I hate republicans!

Aside from being a Republican, winning reelection, and spoiling Democratic dreams of a filibuster-proof majority, I note the conspicuous absence of any charges to substantiate the villification of Chambliss by these vitriolic, biased bloggers.

Got any facts or is it all just yellow dog bile?

I am almost 40 now and have lived in the South all my life and I have only relatively recently started to really pick one up.

AU,

It is cool that you are good at impressions; I was never very good at them. They sound right to my ears when I try, but when I listen to them back they suck. Here is something for you, I told you that I haven't lived in Tennessee since I was 11 and only started to get an accent relatively recently. The only places I have lived in the last 27 years with a heavy accent are Georgia and North Carolina... so why is my accent this late in life closer to a Tennessee accent? Probably because it isn't a perfect accent. I don't honestly know the answer to that.

What I do know, is that peoples accents are odd in the fact some people naturally pick them up easier than others. From my own personal experiences and observations with them, it seems a silly thing to be picking on. There are just too many variables that can affect a person's accent to really rely on that as proof of anything.

If you had video of him speaking with an accent, then all of a sudden dropping it and speaking with no accent or a northern one I would be more inclined to believe it is faked, but just saying it doesn't sound right to you, or that he didn't have one before, or that his brothers don't have one is proof of anything in my book. I have seen those type things before where people legitimately aren't faking it.

I've also learned that 55 MPH in Atlanta means 70 MPH LOL

LOL.... you are off by about 10 miles an hour. At least on I-285. Seems the average speed there is 80 despite the 55mph speed limit. You are correct in the concept though. The speed limit down here seems to be about 10 miles or more over the posted one, except when the cops decide to stop someone.

"So your idea that somehow he must be faking it because he didn't have one years ago, and because the rest of his family doesn't is just a faulty premise based on ignorance. Not calling you stupid on this one... just ignorant."

MuuMuu:

As AmericanUnity has pointed out, Bush's ayuksent thickened dramatically once he ran against Ann Richards once again, and thickened some more once he decidered to run for President. While it is true that accents creep up on people according to where they live, there is also such a thing as cultivating and nurturing an accent as protective coloration, which is what Bush has done and what many Atlantans do. At least Southern accents are not quite so thick as they were when I was very little; television has smoothed some of the worst of them out. I have seen Atlantans maintain dual accents; a regionless speech for work at big companies (where Southernspeak is often a liability), and the standard-issue Jubilation T. Cornpone dialect for freyunds and fambly.

LOL Ya, well, I didn't want to type what you actually have to do to keep from getting rear ended going through Atlanta on I-75. Last time going north I was boxed in in the fast lane by semis doing 80. Just as we approached the Marietta border the trucks moved over in tandem - leaving me all alone in the fast lane just as the Marietta cop started to roll with his lights flashing. He kind of chuckled and asked if I knew how fast I was going. I told him the truth and said I really didn't have a choice. He was pretty cool an only wrote me up for 70 instead of 85.

As to accents, since you had a Tennessee accent when you were a kid that's locked in your brain and probably was just reawakened by the Georgia drawl around you. I had a south Georgia accent when I was a a tike first learning to speak, but grew up up north. Once in awhile a word like 'oil' will come out 'ole', but for the most part I don't have an accent of any kind. They're a funny thing. People who grew up IN Nashville have more of a Florididian or Marilyn accent as opposed to the drawl people have in the surrounding counties.
