"The system is going to protect itself". Well said, Mister DA. The cronies and criminals will do just that, and to hell with justice.

They won't escape God's judgment.

Too bad you can't indict them on just feelings and false perception. It has worked for the media for decades.

The MSM is SO in bed with the libtard whacknuts...

FACT!

The cronies and criminals will do just that, and to hell with justice.

Did you even read why they were indicted?? According to the article:
"The indictment against Cheney alleged that his personal investment in the Vanguard Group made him culpable in alleged prisoner abuse at privately run federal detention centers."

1: The abuse is alleged - it hasn't been proven. Therefore in a court of law it hasn't occurred and cannot be used as evidence against a person.

2: Cheney's sole involvement was due to his investments. This means that every single person with investments with GEO (including governmental pension plans, little old ladies, and problaby even you) need to be indicted if you agree with the Cheney indictment.

3: The dude is being booted from office and is trying to make a statement before he goes. There is no evidence on any wrongdoing from any of the 8 "defendants". But go ahead and claim justice is being thwarted in this case as you clearly know nothing about law, the Constitution, or even the linked article.

If it hadn't been the judge, it would have been Bush pardoning the bastards. herm

The better light is that the crazy DA is out of office soon--and the judge warned him on that as well.

And Herm--what do they have to be pardoned for?

oh brother...you guys just wont quit will you??

that delay thing..hows it going??

well I havent read where he was guilty of ANYTHING except here.........................

"well I havent read where he was guilty of ANYTHING"

That's because you're willing to pretend a guy who purposely screwed Texas voters is AOK because he has an (R) after his name.

Just to see how you stack up regarding patriot vs partisan: when a legislator sees a weakness in an election law, should he rewrite the law to protect the citizens, or should he exploit the loophole for his own gain?

premise alert
premise alert

you have to decide whether you think there really was a weakness in an election law

and if you are talking bout belay and redistricting.....isnt that something required and it was also done to reflect a shift in people and thier political issues...........gerrymanderin
g is a product of democrats for years and years but the dems in texas didnt run off to new mexico when it ran in THEIR favor...........

and the fact remains...........tom delay has not been found guilty of a single thing EXCEPT for here on this site............

must go

have a great day

Bushwhacker should be deemed a spammer.

"And Herm--what do they have to be pardoned for?"

I suspect that either Ms. Murph tweaks me or has been out of touch eight years. Murph, crimes against humanity, crimes against the environment, crimes against the American people and crimes against the constitution. I suspect that even BLT, who appears to be cheer-leading for Tom DeLay today, can spell it out for you. herm

Odd - suddenly there's not a peep about "activist judges."

"premise alert premise alert you have to decide whether you think there really was a weakness in an election law"

The Texas legislature, of all bodies, almost immediately wrote a law making what DeLay did illegal. The Texas legislature.

You make the call.

That's because this case involved an activist prosecutor. Do you think that Cheney should be held responsible for a guard mistreating a prisoner because he invested money in the company? Do you really? Of course you do.

We're all responsible for where and how we invest, which is why I manage my own investments carefully. I won't put any money into anything managed in a way that is at odds with my personal beliefs. While I am not saying that Cheney should be held personally liable in this particular instance, I do find it interesting that he seems to have had no problem making money from the enforced misery of others.

A very consistent guy, that Darth.

The Court should have levied sanctions against the DA for misuse of office.

Well, the jerk is out of office. That's a boon for the citizens of that jurisidiction, who don't have a "nut case" in power.

I do find it interesting that he seems to have had no problem making money from the enforced misery of others.

Well, it's a good thing that there are people who believe in investing in places that keep the least desirable people in society locked up. Of course, it's obvious that you're above all that. And what is this 'enforced misery'? They brought on their own misery.

Unfortunately for your arguement, none of these were part of the indictments listed in the article above. Reading is a fundamental activity that should be undertaken from time to time Herm. It prevents the knee from violently spasming. The indictments were for investing in a company. (Cue ominous music) Do you really think all investers should be held liable for the actions of their companies? Do you even know what investments you have in your mutual fund portfolio? My guess is 95% of Americans do not. Holding someone liable in this case (whether it be Cheney, Obama, or Santa Clause) would be a horrible, horrible precedent to set. But crazies like you would be willing to accept that precedent simply to get a laugh at Cheney's expense.

I thought and continue to think that this was just a bullshit indictment. With that said, there are plenty of things that Cheney, Bush, Gonzales, Rove, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz...well you get the idea could and should be charged, indicted and convicted of. Some with possible death sentences, I'd still have to protest the death penalty but my heart would'nt be in it.

Wow. That sounds very serious.

Another fine example of how overboard Bush/Cheney hatred has gone. Do you realize that all of these things the left swears on, (crimes against humanity, war crimes, etc.) have not occured and are not taken seriously by the dems in power today. The only ones who do take it seriously are the far left. A great example of saying something enough times that people start to believe it. The MSM is complicit in this as well.

"Well, it's a good thing that there are people who believe in investing in places that keep the least desirable people in society locked up. Of course, it's obvious that you're above all that. And what is this 'enforced misery'? They brought on their own misery."

Everlong:

Jails and prisons are supposed to be punishment, but there is a humane limit to punishment. People who are incarcerated are supposed to serve their time and comply with prison regs, but the line is and should be drawn at abuse. If you think that people in the clutches of our justice system are supposed to be treated in whatever way their captors think is best, perhaps you'd enjoy being railroaded on a speeding ticket, just to get a wee taste of what it feels like when a system that is supposed to treat you fairly and impartially fails to do so. Again, I have nothing against proper punishment, but the abuses (inmate and guard violence, rape, etc.) that take place in our prisons are a national disgrace. To have a Veep involved with them at all - even at the remove of an investor - is disgusting.

But as I said before: Very consistent guy, that Darth.

Yup, as I understand it, a few posters think Bush, Cheney, Gonzo and the gang should NOT be indicted, prosecuted and jugged because their assorted crimes aren't really that bad and they really are nice guys and patriots against whom the librul media has some sort of grudge. Lordy! herm

Lefty cranks like Herm have been whacking themselves for years over "indict anybody I disagree with."

Must be frustrating to now learn (yet again) that you don't get to shoot your load.

Go find a girl, for a change

And if you can't find one, you can rent one of Vern's for 7 Philippine Pesos.

The dems never met a lawsuit they didn't like. Simple & true, sue or charge the hell out of everybody all the time over everything no matter how stupid even if their is no chance of winning to make a "statement" because everyone can't get through life not knowing what you think and/or feel. If we look into the portfolios of everyone in office and even into our own & followed the $$$ far enough, we'd all find something "unsavory" most likely. What a waste, (there's a surprise) of time, money, and resources.
