I'll find this easier to believe when Obama starts bringing astrologers into the White House and allows an Iran-Contra situation to develop on his watch. Otherwise it's just more delusional crap from a movement that has lost its way and still lives in the past.

Obama is no Ronald Reagan.

And we will have to see how he does anything in office.

Obama is no Ronald Reagan.

And we will have to see how he does anything in office.

Why? Because you don't like him?

Nobody had any idea what kind of President Reagan would be before he took the oath of office. In fact, despite the fact that he had been Gov. of California, his election was considered a little bit of a joke.

Let's all hope Barack Obama is anything but a Ronald Reagan. Creating more debt is the last thing we need to do. Ronald Reagan took us from being the largest creditor nation to being the largest debtor nation.

Obama is no Ronald Reagan.
posted by Murphy

Thank whatever god you believe in for that. We'd be totally fucked if another Reagan-esk person was president.

re: "Obama is no Ronald Reagan."

That's probably a good thing. Who would want an undead zombie fetish as a president.

"Who would want an undead zombie fetish as a president."

No doubt, Rev. Darko would.

Hans

That would be awful if he were like Reagan. Reagan, in my opinion, was a lousy president...........All he wanted to do was kiss rich peoples asses.........

Obama is no Ronald Reagan.

~Murphy

Back-asswards as usual, Murph.

Ronald Reagan is no Obama.

Reagan's cult following is mostly undeserved and Spud considers him to be one of the most over-rated presdents ever.

While it's still to early to tell, obviously, Spud largely suspects that Obama might be the Best POTUS EVAR!

Course Spud is a wee mite biased.

Be Well.

Spud largely suspects that Obama might be the Best POTUS EVAR

ODS runs deep in this one! Next you will get that twinge up your leg and wet yourself.

ELCID hopes you are right - it does the country no good to have a failed presidency no matter the party or the individual. The hope is for American success - if it comes under Obama - I am 100% behind it. I do not have the confidence that you do however.

Obama is no Ronald Reagan.

Thank gawd.

PS: Ronald Reagan wasn't even the Ronald Reagan of Rightoids' wet dreams.

TOBILLOS ARRIBA!!

Revisionist historians abound. Don't believe the hype. Reagan sucked!

I think folks on this thread would enjoy my book on Reagan that's coming out in two months, called "Tear Down This Myth." The bottom line is that Obama should communicate with the American people like Reagan did but his policies should be the 180-degree opposite. Learn more about the book here:

Catchy title.

The bottom line is that Obama should communicate with the American people like Reagan did but his policies should be the 180-degree opposite.

You mean like NOT arming vicious dictators and supporting rapists, torturers and terrorist types?

Yeah, that certainly makes sense.

Obama does seem to be a great communicator already and will undoubtedly get better as he goes along.

After 8 years of "mourning in America" over the death of much that America held dear due to BushCo's planned incompetence, the country is long overdue to have another "morning in America" like Reagan promised (and largely failed to deliver on).

Be Well.

Don't believe the hype. Reagan sucked!

And Carter was the best president ever, right? Tee Hee.....

Could Barack Obama become the next Ronald Reagan?

If yes, then there is NOTHING to stop Tosser from being the next Queen of England.

Nothing!

Well, you certainly couldn't be any uglier than the current one! *grin*

You CAN be the Queen of England if you want.
I have a question for you though....
Which one do you want for a husband?
Prince Charles?
Or Phillip?

(Choose one!)

Carter was better than Reagan. Reagan took credit for Carters economic policy, and Carter never traded arms for hostages.

Having the Iranians keep the Iranian hostages until he was inaugurated was a cheap political trick by Reagan. Unfortunately millions of Americans couldn't see through his treachery---making him a hero. But Reagans attack on unions was the start of the dismanteling of the middle class--his selling arms to Saddam so he could kill the Kurds is haunting us to this day.

Yeah---give me Carter---you keep Reagan.

Well, you certainly couldn't be any uglier than the current one!

I will be childless, hubby-less, fuck-less, one ugly, pathetic, piece of shit Queen.

But I will be rich!

I love how Murphy dashes in drops a line and refuses to comment after she has been thoroughly debunked. If the conversation goes beyond her right wing talking points she is fed by Hannity she is clueless on how to respond.

Uh.....No

Hey, Jeff J. in alter ego.

Don't lefties hate Ronald Reagan?

LOL LOL LOL now that is funny, everyone knows Reagan used witchcraft spells as he was a practicing warlock, he then communicated his intentions to the Iranians using his secret decoder ring threatening them with being turned into wild hogs if they refused his sinister plan. He further demonstrated his powers by giving Jimmy Carter a speech impediment whenever he tried to pronounce the word nuclear, Carter always tried but said NOOKIER every time...

Obama the next Reagan?

Time will tell.

I'm curious though! Does anyone here know how many times Reagan voted "present" when having to make a tough decision?

Zero, Theo. No one woke him up in time.

Uhm - 2 words for ya there sparky - George Bush.

And did the people reject his service for voting present?

Maybe we should ask those people if he served them how they wanted.

I find it amusing that people are always looking at the past leader while not able to address the future leaders.

"Could Obama become the next Reagan?" Dream on SANOBAMA!
Obama is going to be another Carter.

MONEYWAR: Unfortunately President Elect Obama has no experience to evaluate.

maybe in your corner of the woods but in mine we knew he was destined for greatness after his acceptance speech the first time.
most inspiring political speech yet.

BUT there is something going on
for instance I have heard the two staunchist conservatives around state on air that if he is successfull they will be some of the most vocal people around to congratulate him
and those two are hannity and rush..........its just too bad that bush never got anything like that from the left.

"A rising tide lifts all boats!" Ronald Reagan

HEY TAXPAYER

you still here

your'e a finance guy

ist he federal reserve constitutional??

WILLBUNCH I WILL BE ORDERING!

Great title. Can't wait.

just saw Obama addressing US Governors, very presidential, A meeting like this never done by a president-elect before, ever! Obama calls on them to join in renewing America, they gave him 100% support (Dems & Repubs) Amazing, we will be getting a real president (for a change) Gallup & Rassmussen polls show Obama has large approval and trust ratings, so get used to having a great president! Sure there is a very small minority of Obama haters out there, but they are maginal and getting to be even more marginal. They just keep proving their ignorance.

recall that lady saying Obama is Arab and McCain correcting her "...he is not an Arab...", at end of rally a newsperson interviewed that lady and found no change in her opinion. McCain's correction was a waste of time. So it will be with Obama haters, they will never learn!

"Could Obama become the next Reagan?"

I'll wait to see whether he sells weapons to the government of a state-sponsor of terrorism while supporting a brutal dictator who is engaged in a war with said state and uses the proceeds to illegally fund an attempt to overthrow the government of a third state.

I'll also be looking for signs of Alzheimer's.

Until then, one can hope Obama will be nothing like Reagan.

Ronald Reagan won the presidency by claiming 49 of 50 states.

Messiah Obama won the presidency by claiming only 28 of 57 states. We're still trying to figure out when the 7 additional states joined the union.

Obama like Reagan?

You mean: Will Obama take 2-hour naps every day, defer most policy-making to his cabinet, have his wife consult an astrologer for foreign and domestic policy, dismantle what remains of the EPA, and favor the rich and corporations at the expense of the middle class?

NO.

Doc Sarvis already covered my other points. Thanks, Doc.

"if he is successfull (sic) ...its just too bad that bush never got anything like that from the left."

It's just too bad that Bush never had any successes on which to be congratulated.

Hans

"...Obama won the presidency..."

It still looks good in print.

the ONE STATEMENT that reagan gave us is the one that makes the most sense and is the one that libs dont want any part of

....government is not the solution. government is the problem..........

amen bro....

"....government is not the solution. government is the problem..........

amen bro...."

Too bad it was just an empty statement. He left more debt behind than all previous presidents combined.

"A rising tide lifts all boats!" Ronald Reagan"

Wasn't that line by Kennedy?

Yep, Kennedy.

en.wikipedia.org

"government is not the solution. government is the problem"

Good luck having a functioning country without a government. Especially one with 300+ million people.

I keep being amazed how receptive so many people are to the "throw out the baby with the bath water" approach to issues. _Must_ be reflective of the educational system in this country.

A rising tide lifts all boats!" Ronald Reagan"

Wasn't that line by Kennedy?

I thought he said, "A rising tide lifts all boats and coconuts".

"A rising tide lifts all boats!"

From the bottom up. Think about that.

Surprised how few chimed in when it was noted JFK stated, "A rising tide lifts all boats" !!!

Must be an embarassment to modern day Dembastards, who are "bottom up" thinkers these days.

But that's to be expected from the party of bottom feeders!

I thought he said, "A rising tide lifts all boats and coconuts".

"Surprised how few chimed in when it was noted JFK stated, "A rising tide lifts all boats" !!! Must be an embarassment to modern day Dembastards, who are "bottom up" thinkers these days. "

Ya gotta love the self-retorting retort.

"Could Obama be the next Reagan?"

Yes. Could he just as easily be the next Carter? Yes.

He has a lot of problems to deal with and hopefully he and his team, along with congress and the states can work through them. The potential for great success or collosal failure is pretty amazing.

Lets see, I doubt Obama will contract Alzheimers while in office, but being a shill for the oligarchy is second nature to most all our politicans?

Worshipping the ground Reagan walked on seems to be a favorite Republican pastime. Now Eleanor showers praise?

Even though Reagan was incapable of reaching me intellectually he managed to pick a decent competent staff. Shultz and Roberts were among the best of them.

But fortunately, Obama is too black and smart to ever look or sound like Reagan. I am worried by his embracing of the status quo.

Only if Ronnie bought Nancy one of these babies:

www.dailymail.co.uk

Let's see if the chattering class goes apeshit over this the way they did about Palin's clothing budget... but I guess we know the answer to that already.

Obama will be next Carter.

Each side very often fails to see the faults of their guy....even engaging in wistful rewrites.
Hopefully POTUS-E Obama will avoid the pitfalls and hit the high notes of the Carter and Reagan presidencies.
I fear not... but hope and pray I am at least partially wrong about BHO.

It's just too bad that Bush never had any successes on which to be congratulated.

more bullshit from the bullshit artist of the year

Theonebs....

What make a company successful? Executives? No dumb fuck. It is the employees.

Therefore, how can executives be successful if the employees are not? They can not.

cont...

since you are part of the "SELF" political party...you should realize that your fortune rests on others success.

"...more bullshit from the bullshit artist of the year..."

And, yet, no list of Bush successes.

Therefore, no successes on which he could be congratulated.

Hans

"Yes. Could he just as easily be the next Carter? Yes."

Just so long as, God forbid, he doesn't become the next George W. Bush.
