A U.S. judge in Colorado has adopted a new form of punishment for people who go to court for being too noisy -- an hour of listening to Barry Manilow or the theme tune from the children's TV show Barney and Friends.

Okay, it could be worse. How about making prisoners get on a bus, taken to Branson, Mo...to a live Lawrence Welk show?

I'd confess to anything.

A US judge has decided to make the punishment fit the crime by forcing noisy people to listen to Barry Manilow songs.

I thought we were giving up torture?

Spud caught vid of this story yesterday.

The sullen, pissed off expressions on the faces of the mostly teenaged captive audience as they listened to the Barney Theme tune on 11 was a thing of beauty.

Maybe some light operetta would be well in order too.

Howsabout....

Yeah, but nothing compares to how bad this song is!

It could have been worse, they could have been forced to read all of BL2's or Johnsons posts.

lol

I saw this on the news the other night and I laughed so hard. These four teenage boys being subjected to Barry Manilow music for playing their own music too loud and the looks on their faces were priceless.

The judge also had them listen to the classic version of "Tennessee Waltz." I happen to like that song. Wouldn't have been punishment for me. Now Barry Manilow on the other hand...torture!

TENNESSEE WALTZ

I guess Barry Manilow would be flattered to think his music can be put to reform insensitive people. hehehe....

Could be worse than all of that..could be like this crap

If I were Barack Manilow, sorry, that's Barry Manilow, I would sue.

Why do I have visions of the reprogramming scene in a Clockwork Orange as I read this?

Ann Coulter's jaw is wired up so she's unavailable. I guess Manilow will have to do in the meantime...

Shit, just lock them up and let them listen to the voice of Sarah Palin nonstop.

Being forced to listen to Barely ManEnough is just a big bowl of wrong.

"....At The Copa.....

.....Copa Cabanna...."

I'm pretty sure this is prohibited by the 8th amendment.

I wonder if you could volunteer for electroshock therapy instead?

Really, I am happy for the success Barry has had. Someday there won't be little niche acts like that. Everything is becoming so generic.

I have composed a song that might offer a little chuckle and hope to those who are affected by this financial crisis and are 'toiling for cash'. Maybe I should send it to this judge.

This is idiotic. The guilty parties were most likely being inconsiderate. The judge is being spiteful. The public would be better served if you had them do an hour of community service or even if you just fined them.

Wouldn't that come under "Cruel and Unusual" Punishment?
It's certainly unusual....Cruel? Meh, maybe, maybe not-depends where you stand...next to the speakers-or in the next county-where you can't hear it......

Barry should be compensated if this is a court order punishment.

This judge is an ass trying to make headlines...

If it's not cruel and unusual, it'll do until Bush's Enhanced Interrogation People come up with something new. Maybe it can replace waterboarding. That'll show them ragheads. herm
