They hasn't even assumed office yet. Isn't premature to be doing this kind of thing?

Obama's election is historic by the mere fact that it happened. I can understand why a predominantly black elementary school would want the honor of being the first named for the incoming president.

It is pretty fast, though.

around the world in honor of his presidency.

News flash. He ain't president yet. With all the things named after him he better not turn out like Carter.

Can someone please explain to me why the right considers Carter such a horrible president? What did he do that was so evil?

He didn't do anything evil. Then again, I'm hard put to think of anything he did at all. Besides putting solar panels on the White House roof--though not on his library, funny enough--nothing else seems to come to mind.

News flash. He ain't president yet.

Kind of a nit, but true nonetheless. I added the word "upcoming."

"I'm hard put to think of anything he did at all."

The Panama Canal treaty, allowing the peaceful (and promised) transer to the people of Panama.

Anyone in Carter's position assuming the Presidency that year would have inherited sky high inflation, sky high expectations, a cynical view of government, and the bill for Vietnam.

I always takes a Democrat to clean up the messes after Republicans - who borrow us into the future to lend the air of prosperity and lower taxes via the smoke and mirrors of massive debt someone else has to deal with.

This chart only goes through 2006. 2007 and 2008 go off the chart:

National debt increases under Democrat and Republican Presidents

Nice to see cookfish is proud of his alma mater.

Hans

The only one in the world named after cookfish...

Here's a good idea..let's rename every building they renamed after deadhead raygun, after Jimmy Carter, John Kennedy, and Bill Clinton....

Even better-let's rename his grave in honor of Franklin Pierce and his library after Grover Cleveland.

So, Reagan Airport would be Jimmy Carter, John Kennedy, and Bill Clinton Airport?

Good one, Frank. You really think these posts through.

Frank is to thinking what Hans is to comedy.

With all the things named after him he better not turn out like Carter.

Carter was a humanitarian who's largest failure in office was trying to do too much too soon largely with people brought in from outside the beltway.

This led in turn to an obstructionist mindset from the right that prevented most of his major reforms from achieving their goals.

Spud also has a little pet theory that the obstructionism from the right went so far as to sdabotage his attemot to free the hostages with the suspicious failed rescuse attempt. This suspicion is not born out by any readily available evidence ,of course, just a lot of suspicions based on the players around at the time and their known allegiances and mindset and hardball tactics, chief among them the so-called sane Bush "HW".

In truth, Carter is possibly the most under-rated POTUS EVAR in the history of the US just as Reagan is the most over-rated POTUS EVAR.

Carter's so-called Malaise speech in which he talked about the neccessity of energy independence was widely pooh-poohed at the time as being unrealistically negative and yet by today's lights looks highly prescient.

The Big Lie theory as practiced by Rtards has repeated the "Carter sucked" lie so often by now that fer a lot of mental midgets it's a given

Spud to morans:

It aint.

On Topic?

School renamed after Obama?

Tha's cool.

Be Well.

Camp David I'll grant you, but Panama Canal, no. It only took three years before it became obvious that the Canal was poorly run by the Panamanians, the train broke down constantly, and what was an 8-hour trip soon became nearly three days because of scheduling problems, and repairs that were never done.

So, they sold out most of it to the Chinese. Better to have been under American supervision for twenty more years, even for the Panamanians.

never to early to start pushing to put obama on MT.RUSHMORE.

Back in more sensible days, the practice was to allow 25 years to pass after someone's death before naming anything after him/her. Only hindsight winnows out the losers. I mean, some poor kid is sitting in George W. Bush Elementary because some folks in 2001 thought he'd be a great president. What a great idea that was!

Granted, Obama's election, in and of itself is historical, but I sure wish we'd go back to the old way.

He didn't do anything evil. Then again, I'm hard put to think of anything he did at all.

That's what I'm saying, why then the constant "Carter's the worst President ever" chant? Kind of like the Right's hatred of Hillary and Al Gore. No one can ever seem to come up with a particular reason why they hate them so much, they just know they're supposed to.

And on topic, I agree that there should be a wait on naming things after people. These days there seems to be a big hurry to do it. Naming things after someone while they're still in office reeks too much of dictator/communist type of behavior.

"...he better not turn out like Carter." Above all, Snipe, he better not turn out like Bush.

I'm delighted. I envision the school's PTA staging a stirring theater production about Tibet's spiritual leader on a wide stage. It will be called (wait for it) ...

The Obamamamalamadramarama. herm

Oh--Al Gore's easy. He preaches conservation and pretends global warming is going to annihilate species all over planet earth, and has a carbon footprint bigger than God. He's just a hypocritical dick, who is making millions from retards like you.

He's funny to watch, though. I hope he sticks around. Every time we have record-low temperatures, I think of him, and all the money he's made from suckers on the left. He's the biggest capitalist you guys have on your side, and proves that there's plenty of money for everyone.

hey, don't knock naming things after George Bush! After all, there is the George Bush turnpike in Dallas that I avoid daily.

Really? Yo mean they're calling this elementary school "Wall St's Whore"????

Is there any connection between my post and this?
