Why isn't there child endangerment charges? If not for the girl who committed suicide, then for the mother's daughter who, if the mom is found not guilty, will probably accept her mother's behavior as normal.

People on MMO's may or may not do the same when registering, but it is not hte same thing as using a sign-in name or avatar name, and in WarCraft, you are not presenting yourself to anyone who might actually think you are the REAL Mal Duk of Thorbard or wtf, ready for a quicky cyber between trollbashings...

I say this women should get community service at a homeless abused child shelter for a year to bring back her humanity and be banned from owning or having a computer in her home for 5 years.

I think it goes to intent. It's like yelling fire in a crowded, dark theater. There are consequences. On top of everything, this was an adult who knew how to manipulate and, with pre-conceived intent, was trying to cause emotional harm to a young girl. Which she did since the girl killed herself. This is the same as making threatening telephone calls or sending threatening mail. Send her to the pokey!

Around the time this made the news, I remember I was having dinner with some friends and we were discussing the case. I asked "What kind of adult teases a child" and one of my friends who has children said she has seen it often, especially at kids sporting events.

I was a bit skeptical but after looking on youtube (her idea) I saw numerous videos of parents making fun of kids that their children are playing against. In one instance, a father stepped onto a soccer filed and tripped a kid from the opposing team. In another instance, a father approaches a boy and starts shoving him because the boy had scored against his kid. WTF!?!?!

While it's not quite the same a driving one to suicide, it did illustrate her point that adults do seem to have nasty streak in them when it comes to other peoples children.

I agree - she should get time. It would appear that she had the emotional maturity of a child herself, using her computer to tease and torment a child. I have met mothers like that, they are not pretty and they are not clever, they deserve to be locked up.

Missouri now has a law that would allow state prosecution for doing what she did. The problem as I see it is that some people feel they are immune to the consequences of their actions. That said, judges are much more sympathetic to women and I don't believe she'll serve time, though 20 years would be a fair punishment.
