There's nothing in this report that is new news.
This is all old news that has been obvious from a distance fer quite some time. The only really remarkable thing about this latest report compared to the 2004 report is the hastening of the demise of the American hegemonic empire due to BushCo's epic and ironical FAIL, not the fact that it's occuring.
Empires die, Pirate, just ask a Limey or a Ruskie.
The American economy fer quite some time has stood on the legs of twin deficits which have always been seen as unsustainable by anyone who looked at the situation honestly.
Likewise, the ridiculous amounts of money the US spends on the MIC are also unjustifiable in light of the collapse of the Soviet Union (and indeed was never really all that justifiable back then either).
After the ole Soviet Empire died America tried to keep justifying it's insane military expenditures as being neccessary first in the "War On Drugs (TM) which failed to achieve any real level of believabilty (especially in light of the CIA's involvement in the world drug trade). Nowadays it's the so-called "War on Terror (TM) which is equally over-stated and about as unbelievable as their previous attempts.
In a sense it's a good thing because it means that their will no more "sole super power" mentality fucking up the world stage.
Either the planet learns to play nicely together at long last or we officially become a cancer on the earth and suck the globes resources dry before the inevitable big kill-off comes.
Dethspud is good either way.
/Admittedly, Spud is still rooting fer the human race to finally grasp fer the mantle of sentience in a realistic way by achieving sustainabilty.

And yes, Spud does realise he must sound like he came from Neptune to be saying such things to a people largely insulated in a self reflecting cocoon of pre-approved sound bites that is the US corproate media.
