The bubble beside Norm Coleman's name appeared to have both an X and a squiggle in it, but the Al Franken campaign wants the state Canvassing Board to rule on whether it should count. That's the only challenge in the special envelope in Plymouth so far, according to Sandy Engdahl, the city clerk and the official running the city recount.

What is hilarious is the photo of the ballot in MN.

Does Al Franken have a garden in his back yard making him a "Farmer". Growing corn or maybe pot?

He is no more a "Farmer" than I am. As for the "Labor" title--I guess after he paid his taxes he might qualify--but what does that mean?

He is a joke.

Does anyone have a question about the voters intent here?

TOBILLOS ARRIBA!!

"Al Franken the 'Farmer'. Is That A Stuart Smalley Joke?"

No. Its the official name of the party in Minnesota since 1944.

Clue --- Murphy

Too funny San--don't you think?

How about the intent of the voter on voting for Coleman or not?

I'd say it is likely a vote for Coleman, given that there is no mark by any other candidate.

Do any of you have a clue to whether Franken is a farmer or not? Is it really that impossible to believe that he could have a large garden or a spread in the country? Why is that so unbelievable?

Oh that's right, I forgot that all Liberal Democrats are Urban latte sipping wusses.

As soon as Obama won Iowa, it's amazing how many people suddenly opted to become farmers. They know where the money is. As long as the Messiah pays homage to the virtues of ethanol despite collapsing crude prices, Franken isn't the only Minnesotan looking for a free handout for a patch of dirt in his back yard.

People, people, people. The name of the party in Minnesota is the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party.

Nobody is claiming to actually be a farmer. Murphy was just a little confused.

You've got the tense and the extent wrong.

FF for dudes--

So all the Dems in MN are farmers or laborers?

That was funny--thought it was a joke--it's still funny because Franken is neither.

What is important is that Franken (campaign) can't figure out if this is a vote for him or Coleman.

So he is blind but not a farmer or laborer. ;o)

I was confused, too. I have been voting for 35 years and never once have I heard of the democratic party being referred to as farmers.

Its because the Democratic party and the Farmer-Labor party combined in 1944. Hubert Humphrey was central to making that happen.

PS: Goat - this is just Minnesota's official party name.
