"When I am president, any governor who's willing to promote clean energy will have a partner in the White House. Any company that's willing to invest in clean energy will have an ally in Washington. And any nation that's willing to join the cause of combating climate change will have an ally in the United States of America." -- Barack Obama's video remarks to a summit on climate change today in Los Angeles

The Messiah will wave his magic wand the the weather will be just fine again.

Good luck "combating global climate change" Barack. You're going to need a hell of an umbrella.

Redistribution of wealth from the bottom to the top through carbon taxation. All the while, creating another instrument for banks to play with your money with zero risk.

How is this guy not a shill for the elite again?

Thank God. It's 19 fucking degrees here, and I'm sweating like a pregnant nun.

"Thank God. It's 19 fucking degrees here, and I'm sweating like a pregnant nun."

As I said yesterday, you must not have gotten the memo. The term is no longer "global warming," the term is "climate change." Therefore, since it is a few degrees colder today than usual, you are still required to feel bad for driving a car to get to work, because you made the climate "change." Also, every time it rains or snows this winter, it is your fault - that is "climate change." When it doesn't rain or snow, this is also bad.

The only climate he'll be changing is that of my middle class wallet, and it won't be going green.

The earth is going to heat up or cool down regardless of what Obama does. But as long as he throws money at something, ANYTHING, the hoping masses will call it "leadership."

FF for #6!

Classic.

His timing is impeccable. I guess paying higher taxes isn't patriotic enough.

What am I going to do with all this Philadelphia beach front property now?

LIKE,

Just take a big loss on it, and get bailed out. It's the American way!

Normally I oppose tax hikes. But if it means LiveOrDie will whine and carry on like he is wont to do whenever a liberal says or does anything, then I am all for it.

I'll manage as long as I have the well constructed, coherent thoughts of Moder8 to get me by.

Can anyone seriously ever remember a single comment by LOD which was not snarky and derisive in relation to any liberal policy. It is tedious. And so boringly predictable. Now he is whining about a man who has not yet even taken office. Wow.

Easy for you to say, I was looking forward to water skiing over New Jersey.

Now he is whining about a man who has not yet even taken office. Wow.

So is the President-Elect just joshing about this?

Now he is whining about a man who has not yet even taken office. Wow.
#14 | Posted by moder8
Very jaw dropping. Can you believe that someone would respond to the president-elect's remarks concerning his future policy as president? Especially on a comment thread dedicated to them. Wow!

In the roughly four-minute message, Obama reiterated his support for a cap-and-trade system approach to cutting green house gases. He would establish annual targets to reduce emissions to their 1990 levels by 2020 and reduce them another 80% by 2050. Obama also promoted anew his proposal to invest $15 billion each year to support private sector efforts toward clean energy.
Anyone care to share their favorite holiday recipes?

Thank God the message was only 4 minutes. After a few more minutes, he could have started working on the "New Deal".

My God,
This thread has become quite a staging area for right wing crapolla from the usual suspects. Forget global warming or climate change. You bozos don't even know what leadership means.

Does it mean spending your money for you?

Now he is whining about a man who has not yet even taken office. Wow.

The m8 double standard rears its ugly head again. He sees nothing wrong with praising a man who has not yet taken office, but he thinks it's not right to complain about a man who has yet not taken office.

Do you ever wonder why no one ever takes you seriously, m8?

"Does it mean spending money for you?"
THE NETHER
No. Guess again.

Why not just tell us?

WisGod-
Are you or your parents also burdened with SS and/or Medicare?

You don't have to accept it, you know.

You bozos don't even know what leadership means.

Hopefully we'll learn in about 4 years and 61 days.

Leaders in the Democratic-controlled Congress have indicated that they aren't likely to act until 2010 on a bill to limit the heat-trapping gases blamed for global warming. But Obama could begin to tackle global warming without Congress through administrative actions.
So what do you guys feel like talking about?

"Are you or your parents also burdened with SS and/or Medicare?"

No, just the taxes. Is there a way to opt out of those too?

Live or Die-
Well, we could start with your odd pride in the fact that your Party has crashed the ship of state (the US) on the rocks, asshole.

Joe-
I was asking WisGod. Are you two roomies?

What would your question prove if one American out of 300,000,000+ answered it? I'm trying to give you a better sample size.

Sure. I was so proud of them, that I voted against them in the election.

LiveorDie, feel free to discuss whatever you like... except the story for which this thread was formed. It's unfair to our Messiah Elect to criticize him until after he makes his ridiculous propositions from the geographic center of the oval office.

No. Guess again.

ummm...o.k.
Is "leadership" telling us that the science on anthropogenic global climate change is clear and undeniable in order to create fear and make it easier to take our money from us without force?

What does that have to do with pissing away money on climate change?

Hey, my city got two inches of global warming in the last 24 hours. I wonder if the messiah would like to come over and shovel it out of my driveway?

FF TheOneBS!

Don't worry about climate change--air quality--runaway emissions--China doesn't, and look how well their air quality is---with a little more republican leadership--we could catchup.

Vote republican, fumb ducks.

Yeah BB. Afterall, we currently have no regulations on emmissions.

Don't worry about rising ocean levels---these islanders are delusional, and we can easily Move New Youk and Florida to Nebraska.

"Don't worry about climate change--air quality--runaway emissions"

Equating climate change with things like air quality and emissions is garbage. Nobody who thinks "climate change" is unimportant wants to completely do away with all other environmental regulations.

Obama can change the climate. Obama is change. Change is Obama. This President is going to make all the rest look like stooges. Awesome.

Ah---a fumb duck reports in---quack at this fumb duck.

Bush and "voluntary compliance"--you trust those companies to spend billions to clean up don't you. Of course you do--just like Bush.

In 1999, Governor Bush and Texas industry passed the Clean Air Responsibility Enterprise (CARE) program--legislation that allowed non-utility grandfathered polluters to "volunteer" to reduce emissions without requiring full compliance with the Texas Clean Air Act.

The hot air escaping your pie hole for starters.

wonder why the oil and utility companies are gun ho for this cap and trade program? maybe because it will lead to sky rocking energy prices.the UN said america should pony up 356 billion dollars for starters for are past climate sins and i'm sure liberals will agree with that so the world will love us again.

Exactly what do you think causes climate change fumb duck?

Wow, look at all the CO2 in the air...it looks exactly like pollution!

I looked over that entire article and I didn't see one mention of CO2. Hell, I think I'm having an asthma attack right now from all the CO2 I'm exhaling! Somebody get my inhaler!

I sure hope it doesn't get dusty here. Dust is bad for the environment and stuff.

It's fucking bullshit. Let's focus on Healthcare -Hillary Clinton, Agent of Change

Considering the BushCo oiligarchy was leading the nation off a fucking cliff on this issue nothing Obama does in this regard could be any worse so he's off to a good start.

Promoting renewable non polluting energy sources found in the US rather than allowing MEern Dictators to buy American from under yer feet is a bad thing in some people's minds?

Clean is bad?

Hmmm, Spud always heard "Cleanliness is next to godliness."

FAct is corproate polluters will not regulate themselves.

In fact, they'd rather spend millions annually on disinformation campaigns aimed at achieving cognitive dissonance in the simple minded and for an army of K Street Lobbyists to allow them to write their own ticket rather than regulate themselves.

Obama is one of the few politicians in modern times to not go into office beholden to BigOil and his message promising leadership on MMCC/MMGW reflects this.

Sometimes you use a carrot.

Other times a stick is the best approach.

Obama seems to grasp this concept well.

Be Well.

Wait till the lib morons find out that they too, will have to pay carbon foot print taxes. The debate is not over, fuck algore, that fat, lying piece of shit, this global warming bullshit is a scam, a hoax, and anyone perpetrating a hoax to this degree should be lock up for high crimes and treason. Get a clue you stupid fucks!
Welcome to Camel Lot, the banana republic of the obamanation. Pay for a 2 humper and get a one humper.
I thought when obama promised he would give us all a Hummer with alot of chrome, I did'nt realize he meant a crack whore with braces.

"In searching for a new enemy to unite us, we came up with the idea that pollution, the threat of global warming, water shortages, famine and the like would fit the bill..."[1] The First Global Revolution, Club of Rome, an elite think-tank (David Rockefeller, Gorbachev, etc.) working with the UN.

"...we need to get some broad based support, to capture the public's imagination.... So we have to offer up scary scenarios, make simplified, dramatic statements and make little mention of any doubts.... Each of us has to decide what the right balance is between being effective and being honest."[2] Stanford Professor Stephen Schneider

"The earth continually warms and cools. The cycle is undeniable, ancient, often abrupt, and global. It is also unstoppable. Isotopes in the ice and sediment cores, ancient tree rings, and stalagmites tell us it is linked to small changes in the irradiance of the sun."[3, page 4] Atmospheric physicist Fred Singer and Dennis T. Avery, Unstoppable Global Warming

"No matter if the science of global warming is all phony... climate change [provides] the greatest opportunity to bring about justice and equality in the world."[4] Christine Stewart, then Canadian Minister of the Environment

"Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said: 'Who is this who darkens counsel by words without knowledge?...Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding.... To what were its foundations fastened?... Or who shut in the sea... when I said, This far you may come, but no farther, and here your proud waves must stop!'" Job 38:1-6, 8, 11

Yes, there have been massive shifts in the climate before, but then again, there weren't 6 Billion people on the planet at the time.

OK, leadership is taking the lead on an issue and actually having people follow you as opposed to "going it alone". Leaders are adept at building consensus as opposed to constantly declaring "my way or the highway."
Above all, leadership requires the ability to listen in order to make informed and wise decisions as opposed to the ability to ignore anyone who doesn't tell you what you want to hear resulting in disasterous decisions. (Do you see where I'm going with this?)
Leadership is Barack Obama as opposed to George Bush, McCain/Palin "mavericks" (no one ever follows mavericks), right wing chicken hawks, supply side pyramid schemers, or any other hopelessly misguided douche nozzles like you.

Don't worry about climate change--air quality--runaway emissions--China doesn't, and look how well their air quality is---with a little more republican leadership--we could catchup

Yes, there have been massive shifts in the climate before, but then again, there weren't 6 Billion people on the planet at the time.

regarding the first blog, has air quaility increased or decreased in the last 8 year here in los estados unidos?

the second one is just stupid. think about it.

did AlGore just turn dow the One as Enviro-Czar? Makes sense since he couldn't cash-in on all those eating the manure as the Mr. government....

He also said this.

"Few challenges facing America -and the world - are more urgent than combating climate change,'' Obama said. "The science is beyond dispute and the facts are clear. Sea levels are rising. Coastlines are shrinking. We've seen record drought, spreading famine and storms that are growing stronger with each passing hurricane season."

The science is not beyond dispute, storms are not growing stronger, in fact there have even been less of them, we've always had droughts and I don't know where he's talking about that is breaking records, and just where are these coastlines that are shrinking. These words are straight out of the Al Gore playbook and Obama is lieing through his teeth when reiterating them. This is what we have to look foward to. An alarmist president who will use climate change as a tool to pass thru all kinds of regulations and probably even laws.

Shorelines are shrinking. Not wear I live son

Scooter - How many people where on the Earth 10,000 years ago when the last ice age stopped and the earth started to warm? If people caused global warming then we should still be in the ice age or just coming out of it.

Or...how about in the Surlian Epoc where the average temperature on Earth jumped from 10c to 25c in less than 10K years?

Or if people are the cause - how come we had the "little ice ages" in from 1600 to 1650 or 1710 to 1770? Lot more people then, than before, but the temperature fell.

Net: Temperatures fluxuate (and the reason that the North Ice cap expanded faster in Oct. than every before...and May was the COLDEST May on record.) and PEOPLE have NOTHING to do with it.

It is a scam to suck more tax dollars out of your pocket so that the Pelosi's and Gore's (who has money in a "Carbon offset" company) of this world can skim more off for themselves.
