The K Street partisan shuffle continues with major Democratic hires and headline-grabbing merger announcements, as lobbying firms try to reposition themselves for the blue takeover of D.C. "This is going to be a Democratic town for the next few years," said Vin Weber, managing partner of the lobbying firm Clark & Weinstock and a former Republican congressman.

yeah maybe

but might not be as long as you libs want it to be

important..........just keep thinking that the gop is dead. that will help us as much as finding our conservatice voices

I do not want the GOP dead, I want it in prison where many of the leaders belong.

If they kick all the GOP firms off K Street, the place is going to look like a ghost town.

Who is going to lobby for jesus?

Help Wanted: Two Faces and Slimy Handshakes Only Need Apply.

"just keep thinking that the gop is dead. that will help us as much as finding our conservatice voices"

Umm, as far as im concerned your GOP is dead in fact, and no amount of reanimating Newt or rebranding Palin is going to resuscitate it. Your brand of single issue divisiveness dressed up as "conservatism" has been ruined for at least a few decades.

The question now is who will you hold responsible, and are you smart enough to excise them before they can do more long lasting damage.

My guess is no! My guess is that you will double down and lose the farm altogether.

BLT-its 1932 all over again.

Bush has managed to strip the GOP of any claim to fiscal, military or security leadership. Unless they can find some way of selling what the people want without becoming "me too" Democrtas, you're gonna be stuck trying to sell culture wars that you lost long ago.

I do not want the GOP dead, I want it in prison where many of the leaders belong.

Nice. There's that tolerance from the left and the belief in a democracy - DUMMI, you constantly defy physics by reaching new lows with your hatred of The United States.

"GOP Firms Kicked Off K Street"

Yup, it's only a matter of time now before every Sunday talk shows will be solely filled with progressive democrat guests.
Then the fake GOP will really know what hurt is and will be demanding some "fairness"!

I'm going to savor this Sweet Taste of Irony for many years to come!

Bush has managed to strip the GOP of any claim to fiscal, military or security leadership.

And...... the dems are going to fix that before the end of the year.

How many terrorist attacks have we had here in the US since 12Sep01?

"How many terrorist attacks have we had here in the US since 12Sep01?"

7! and to date no one has been brought to justice either (just like the Big One that happened on Bush's Watch)!

"There's that tolerance from the left and the belief in a democracy"

Told you yesterday, I ran out of liberal tolerance when I looked at the debt the Republicans ran up.
When the new Congress is seated they will probably begin the long and arduous job of investigating, charging, sentencing and incarcerating the Bush administration. He better make those pardons broad, covering every concievable charge possible.

"How many terrorist attacks have we had here in the US since 12Sep01?"

One, big, long continuous one conducted by Bush and his buddies.

Good to see Obama is living up to this campaign promise of 'no more business as usual in DC'.

The fools were fooled.

Replacing Repub lobbyist with Dem lobbyist now there's change we can believe in.

Same shit different stink.

"The fools were fooled.

Fooled ya' didn't we? Fool.

Barack Obama, December 27, 2007: "The real gamble in this election is playing the same Washington game with the same Washington players and expecting a different result."

The fools were fooled.

Same old shit different administration.

So much for change--change over to Dem lobbyists--lol

These guys are no longer banned--just in time for the new admin to start up.

you constantly defy physics by reaching new lows with your hatred of The United States.

And :YOU prove your hatred of the Constitution by trying to brand anyone who disagrees with your divisiveness as traitorous and as hating the U.S.-which is an intentional and patent lie.

Stuff it it-eldipshit-your "opinion" isn't worth spit.

"How many terrorist attacks have we had here in the US since 12Sep01?"

How many did we have before 10Sep01?

"Good to see Obama is living up to this campaign promise of 'no more business as usual in DC'."

How is this Obama's doing???

He isn't even elected yet, doesn't know what Congress will even look like yet.
Me thinks the right will notice some REAL changes soon.

Yeah for the worse--if that is possible. Which is possible considering it is the Dems.

Yes, this is the thread where the indignant bitter clingers come to condemn the very stuff that didn't bother them at all ---- last year!

Immensely entertaining, but with a strong hint of satisfaction!

Nah, Danni had the pipe packed alittle tight on Nov. 4th.

There's that tolerance from the left and the belief in a democracy

#8 | Posted by ELCIDCE90

Did anyone ever state a tolerance for those in charge breaking the law and cheating the people? Isn't holding your elected leaders to the same standard and laws that the rest must follow exactly what Democracy is all about?

Stealing trillions and tranferring the US treasury into private hands is patriotic and as American as apple pie.

Suggesting criminals should be locked up is unpatriotic and unamerican - unless those crimnals happen to be democrats, then it's ok.

DUMMI stated:I do not want the GOP dead, I want it in prison

So now the whole party is guilty of breaking the law and cheating the people? If you really believe that, there is not a word yet invented to describe your stupidity. DUMMI is suggesting by her comment that she would like the GOP to go away - so again - she wants to do away with democracy and have a one party system with libtards in charge because like I said - "we know what's best for you and you don't".

And F5.5 - your a tool - no news there of course, but it begged to be said.

Stealing trillions and tranferring the US treasury into private hands is patriotic and as American as apple pie.

Again - only the GOP huh? No hope for you guys if you really believe that.

"Did anyone ever state a tolerance for those in charge breaking the law and cheating the people?"

Who, specifically, are you saying should be prosecuted, and what, specifically, were their crimes?

Someday I hope to hear Joanie Mitchell sing, "They Paved Over K Street and Put Up a Parking Lot."

Again - only the GOP huh?

#28 | Posted by ELCIDCE90

I highly doubt Danni is for putting the whole party in jail, or making it illegal to be a member of it.

What am I a lawyer or a special prosecutor? Do I have access and time to go through Government records?

Please, leave your semantics and silly demands at home. If even a regular idiot like me can tell that what's been going on the last 8 years is not kosher and should be investigated by an impartial Justice Dept., then it must really be obvious to those who's job it is to actually do something about it.

This is awesome. I've always said there aren't nearly enough lobbyists for teachers, government employees, foreign governments, farmers, crinkly white retirees--this is the kind of positive change only an Obama can bring.

Personally, I'll be happy to pay more in taxes so that the aggrieved multimillion dollar farmers can finally get their windfall, and teachers can do a lousy job without worry of getting laid off. About time.

"What am I a lawyer or a special prosecutor? Do I have access and time to go through Government records?"

The point is that many people routinely call Bush and his administration "criminals" yet they have no idea what crimes they think he has committed. You don't have to tell me exactly what he is guilty of. Do you have any idea at all?

"How many terrorist attacks have we had here in the US since 12Sep01?"

How many did we have before 10Sep01?

#20 | Posted by LiberalBadass

I guess you don't count the first World Trade Center bombing a terrorist act. We also had attacks on the USS Cole and two US embassies. May not have been on our soil but terrorist attacks against the US they certainly were. Any other bad questions?

Who is going to lobby for jesus?

#4 | Posted by Lipzoidial

The lobbying firm of H. Ghost and Jehovah.

How many terrorist attacks have we had here in the US since 12Sep01?

#10 | Posted by Sniper

How many more do you need to prove Bush incompetent?

He still has two months left, you might get your wish.

If you want to look at facts, see how effective the GWOT was in stopping terrorism. The increase in terrorist attacks around the world was so great that the administration stopped publishing the facts.

Just more "If the facts don't fit the arguement, don't use the facts" policies of Bushco.

Worst. President. Ever.

May not have been on our soil but terrorist attacks against the US they certainly were. Any other bad questions?

#34 | Posted by everlong

Under your logic we can count any terrorist attack outside the US as long as it was directed against US interests/property/citizens.

How many have been in Iraq since 2003?

You don't have to tell me exactly what he is guilty of. Do you have any idea at all?

#33 | Posted by JOE

Torture?
Extraordinary Rendition?
Wiretaps?
Outing CIA agents?
Destroying eMails and other documents?
Using the Justice Dept. for personal vendettas?

Does anyone doubt that Barack Obama will read all of his Presidential Daily Briefing memos or that he will confer with intelligence agencies as often as did the Clinton administration?
Can you say the same for Bush pre-9-11???
Point being 9-11 should never have happened. There was plenty of intelligence warning of such an attack and it was ignored.
So bragging that there haven't been any attacks on our soil since just goes to show that, after the fact, Bushco started actually doing the job of protecting the nation.
Gotta wonder if it was a "Pearl Harbor like event."

Actually there was a terrorist attack after 9/12. Remember the Anthrax mailed to Congress? Bush never caught those guys either.

BTW, this article just talks about how the lobbying firms are shifting focus in hopes of peddling influence in the new administration and Congress. It doesn't say anything about whether or not they are being accepted or have had any success. Which of course would be impossible as the new Administration and Congress aren't even in power yet.
So don't you think all you righty sore-losers are a bit immature in your cat-calls of how nothing has changed?

Point being 9-11 should never have happened. There was plenty of intelligence warning of such an attack and it was ignored.
- DUMMI - Yawn.

"We must then ask when the U.S. government had reasonable opportunities to mobilize the country for major action against al-Qaida and its Afghan sanctuary. The main opportunities came after the new information the U.S. government received in 1996-97, after the embassy bombings of August 1998, after the discoveries of the Jordanian and Ressam plots in late 1999, and after the attack on the USS Cole in October 2000."

We had received 10 terrorist attacks, foreign and domestic, since the World Trade Center basement attack of 1993. Osama bin Laden issued two fatwas (declarations of war in 1996 and 1998) against us. And what did Clinton do? Fight terrorism as a law-enforcement issue. Clinton's plan at one time was to apprehend bin Laden and bring him to the U.S. for trial. The ACLU would have had a field day if that happened.

www.enquirer.com

The ACLU would have sued if the feds started searching airline passengers

And what did Clinton do? Fight terrorism as a law-enforcement issue.
#42 | Posted by ELCIDCE90

And by doing that, he managed to keep them off US soil until he left office. Do you give him credit for that?

So don't you think all you righty sore-losers are a bit immature in your cat-calls of how nothing has changed?

I just love how if you dare question the incoming administration you are immediately deemed some kind of right wing nut job. I'm neither a Liberal nor Conservative I'm a Libertarian.

Not a conservative
Conservative = someone who forces their beliefs on others in order to save their souls, willfully violating the Constitution for a higher purpose, & worships money or wealth! (The golden idle)

Not a liberal
Liberal = someone who forces their beliefs on others & wants to tax everyone and limit their freedoms in order to protect society from themselves and save money for the socialist big government that they envision! (Seat belt laws to prevent medical costs, etc)

Libertarian = someone who advocates maximizing individual rights & minimizing the role of the state (one who believes in free will)

"(The golden idle)"

Closely related to the silver reverse.

Who is going to lobby for jesus?

Libertarian = someone who advocates maximizing individual rights & minimizing the role of the state (one who believes in free will)

i.e. someone who if in charge would still allow slavery, child labor, mandatory 14 hour work days, no workers comp, segregation etc.

K street???

Sorry, I have to show my ignorance here but is this the actual street?

"Libertarian = someone who advocates maximizing individual rights

Libertarian = Propertarian: someone who advocates maximizing property rights at the expense of any other rights.

MONEYWAR

K Street is an actual street in the NW section of D.C. Given that common use because it's dominated by lobbying and "consultant" firms, much as Wall Street - financial, or 52nd Street by the Music Industry and "Madison Avenue" dominated by advertising firms.

Yup.

K Street is a major thoroughfare in the United States capital of Washington, D.C. known for the numerous think tanks, lobbyists, and advocacy groups that exercise influence from its location.

Libertarian = Propertarian: someone who advocates maximizing property rights at the expense of any other rights.

#50 | Posted by nullifidian

If by Propertarian you mean someone who supports the private individual or corporate ownership of legal, transferable, private property, and opposes all government interference with private property, such as nationalization, confiscation, and eminent domain, and supports the rights of property owners against robbery, trespass etc.

I'm can't be more proud to say I'm gulity.

How this can possibly be at the expense of any other right you'll have to explain.

" and opposes all government interference with private property"

You enjoy eating at restaurants where no food inspections are held? How about work places without workplace safety regulations? Like spending time in crowded public facilities without fire codes? Like working overtime for employers who aren't required to pay overtime wages?

Need I go on?

In reading all the comments posted on most of the news stories on this site, I've concluded that it doesn't matter what the news story is about. Nearly every "blog" morphs into a "chatroom" where the Dems call the Repubs bad names, use foul language, make personal attacks and visa-versa. It only takes a dozen posts or so for the discussion to spin out of control and turn into a elementary school playground fight. This one only made it to 8.

Challenge #1:
Who here is big enough to admit that they "hate" the opposition and find it wildly entertaining to be "hateful" to them?

Challenge #2:
Who among those with the courage to admit to the above will note that although they eagerly and energetically engage in the spreading of that "hate", they themselves are not "Haters" however, the other guy is?

Challenge #3:
Who here will agree that these "Haters" are bad for the discussion, bad for the party they align themselves with and that these "Haters" contribute to the undeniable erosion of the once great American democratic process.

LIBERTARIAN

I don't hate anyone. But, I do take issue with the right wing of the GOP. Give 'em Alaska to get them far enough away from the rest of us

i.e. someone who if in charge would still allow slavery, child labor, mandatory 14 hour work days, no workers comp, segregation etc.

#48 | Posted by TFDNihilist

Slavery could not exist in a truly libertarian society as it deprives people of their Liberty and free will which is the antithesis of libertarianism.

There is no such thing a mandatory work day no matter how many hours are in it you either choose to work or choose not to work how you fend for yourself if you choose not to work is up to you.

We don't have mandatory workers comp in Texas and we have one of the if not the best economies in the country right now.

Segregation would be taken care of by the market place no business can ultimately survive if they turn away a large percentage of their potential clientele.

Like working overtime for employers who aren't required to pay overtime wages?

#55 | Posted by nullifidian

Yes, I love my job. I'm salaried and don't get paid overtime and rarely work just a 40 hour week. What gives anyone the right to expect more than their hourly wage for the hours they work be it 40 or more? Are you willing to take less than your hourly wage if you work less than 40 hours? Seems only fair that if you expect a higher wage for working over 40 you should expect a lower wage for working under 40.

I think I'm going to change my screen name to "heartless libertarian" anyone know how i go about doing that?

Immensely entertaining, but with a strong hint of satisfaction!

On July 1, 2009, can we have a report from you enumerating the ways that your life is materially better than it was on July 1, 2008?

We all want to derive vicarious pleasure from being aware of your improved situation.

Or are you experiencing the ephemeral satisfaction of a satisfied mind, like a kid walking away from a ball game his school has just won. But with no actual lasting benefit? It might help you to figure out just why your mind is satisfied by such infantile goals. When I was a child ... but now my ways are a man's ways? Why are you so committed? From an adult perspective?

On July 1, 2009, can we have a report from you enumerating the ways that your life is materially better than it was on July 1, 2008?
#60 | Posted by Johnson

Why, compadre, mi petite amigo, I don't have to wait until July 1, 2009 to transmit in your general direction an account of the ways and means by which my life is materially better than it was on July 1, 2008, a year to the day preceding the date you specified but which I am circumnavigating by means of my pudgy pinkies and stylishly---yea, ergonomically---designed keyboard. First, primarily, in a position of primacy, batting in the lead-off position, lined up for a hole in one, is this fact: Talulua does the Hula in Hawaii. Plus, I got laid, didn't become a host for venereal crab (hence no crabcakes for dessert), and don't have to put my shoes on anymore to go out and fetch my paper because the dog expired and the front lawn is nice and tidy, thank you very much.

#31 | Posted by TFDNihilist at 2008-11-18 02:44 PM

Who, specifically, are you saying should be prosecuted, and what, specifically, were their crimes?

What am I a lawyer or a special prosecutor? Do I have access and time to go through Government records?

Well, since you've made an allegation and demand, someone would think you have some basis for it, and are just not acting irresponsibly, sort of like a totalitarian, who can't tolerate differing opinions, and just wants to use the state apparatus to destroy the opposition.

First describe your opponents as "bad," and then demand their imprisonment to remove them from the scene. Got it. Without being able to even refer to alleged crimes, you want "punishment."

Please, leave your semantics and silly demands at home. If even a regular idiot like me can tell that what's been going on the last 8 years is not kosher ...

Apparently you can't since you claim you can't identify a single thing that arouses your suspicions.

Usually, a person is aware of what he percieves as "a crime" even though he define it in legal terms, citing the elements. For example, if you are in a store that has been robbed, you report the act, and the lawyers restate the offense in legal terms. Or if your jewelery is missing, you report it and the police investigate, and then the prosecutors recite the elements of the offsense in thepleading. You don't need to be a lawyer to identify criminal acts.

But TFD, you don't even cite one alleged thing that you finf amiss.

... and should be investigated by an impartial Justice Dept., then it must really be obvious to those who's job it is to actually do something about it.

Okay TFD, you think that "something is wrong." What makes you think so? Did someone come into your store and take your money at gunpoint? Did TFD, the shopkeeper, arrive at his store and find inventory missing? What did you find amiss, execpt something that somehow "you know," but can't articulate. Come on, you're not dull. Give us a clue as to what happened with some specificity. What arouses your suspicions?

Could it be that you've been pummeled with so much propagandafor years that you have a sense of something wrong? But since all the propaganda did was engage in a "semantic" exercise" to portray the opposition as bad, there is no basis for the allegations, and when you search for some, you cannot find any, and also cannot acknowledge that you've been gulled. Is it a self-esteem thing for you now to deny that you've been conditioned by non-specific propaganda, to embrace a view without susbstance to support it?
