Sorry, Mitt. You may be smarter, more experienced and more capable than Sarah!. But, you will never talk the Evangelicals into supporting you over her.

If she continues to make long sentences with no verbs in them, Romney should just cool it for a year. She may be forgotten by then.

Palin's GOP

A failed VP run and suddenly she's the future of the party.

What a disaster.

Yeah, the failed veep candidate usually does come back and win their party's nomination, happens all the time. . .

will someonename one VP canditate of the losing party that went on to be head of the losing party and also became a Presz canditate

The media is what is making Palin the darlng of the republican party right now. We just elected a president for Christ's sake and now that the media doesn't have much to talk about they make up yet another 'news' story. Palin will not win the nomination for the repubs if she even runs. Can we just get along with the next couple of years and then talk about this crap when the next campaign starts. This never ending campaign cycle is utterly ridiculous and boring.

Romney would bring a Paulson like solution to the table, which ain't gonna work.

Evangelicals can send their money to Israel and pray for the Rapture, while the country implodes if they want to. Then God can kill all the Jews they've been saving. But, Palin is beside the point and will die politically alongside Dan Quayle.

Every mass murderer, rapist, and child molestor in this country can get married, but not Homosexuals. This is the kind of logic which can only bring more misery to our country.

besides, BIG LOVE is killing this guy.

Will someone please name a young black man from the midwest only a couple of years out of the state senate who got elected President of the United States .... ???

Oh, damn.

"will someonename one VP canditate of the losing party that went on to be head of the losing party and also became a Presz canditate"

Edwards was close. Dems didn't pick him because he wasn't black or a woman, turns out they were lucky since his affair came out just a short time later.

Palin will be dressed out and eaten in the Republican Primary. Her cute little wink might work when the Repubs have to vote for her (as opposed to a Dem) but the party establishment will tear her to pieces in a primary election. Her best bet is to finish her term as Gov, and then get herself elected to the House or Senate for a couple of terms to actually learn something. Obama may be lacking experience, but she lacks experience and brains.

They could merge forces. Think of all the money they will save with only one hair stylist. Plus,
the religious debate between the two would be pay per view worthy.

You know, I almost - but not quite - feel sorry for the G.O.P.

Romney belongs to a church that wasn't any too damn popular to begin with, and has now gone on to piss off every gay and gay-friendly voter in the country.

Palin cannot string together a lucid sentence - or if she can, she certainly hasn't done it in public.

And these are the G.O.P.'s best and brightest hopes for the future.

BWAH-hah-hah-hah-hah!

Romney would have been an amazing President and the country would have grown given his expertise in finance. Unforunately, there are too many biggots who don't like him because he is a Mormon. If he really wanted to win, he would become an Evangelical Christian and then walz into the White House in 2012. Obama will NOT be able to turn around things by then or even fulfill a fraction of his looney promises.

Magical Underwear?

38 Wives?

Ummin and Thummin Jewel Encrusted Rosey Colored Spectacles?

What's not to like?

~UTerine-Staph-infection

Actually you got that back-asswards as usual.

Spud wouldn't have a problem with Mormons if they weren't such fucking Bigots.

Seriously, it took them until the seventies to allow blacks in the church and then they spend 20 million dollars in California in order to foster a homophobic campaign?

Wot's not to dislike?

Also, the whole disbelieving in Evolution thing.

The utter BS they base their religion on makes the Flying Spagetti Monster look like a sane choice in direct comparison but the basis of modern biology is bunk according to them?

Yeesh, That's a FAIL of biblical proportions.

If the GOP hopes to have a future the religious wingnuts have to tone down their rhetoric or move to Jonestown, Guyana.

/Apparently, there's still room available.

Be Well.

Seriously, it took them until the seventies to allow blacks in the church and then they spend 20 million dollars in California in order to foster a homophobic campaign? -Spud

Check your facts Spud; blacks were allowed into the Mormon church since the day it was founded. And one of the biggest tenets of the Mormon faith is that a marriage is between a man and a woman; the campaign (of which mormons only raised 1/2 of the funds) supported a major tenet of their faith. The campaign was hardly homophobic as Prop 8 does not deny any rights that are currently not granted under civil unions in CA anyways. Check it out, you'd be suprised (and don't say it denies federal rights as DOMA would prevent that even if Prop 8 failed). So Spud, what rights are denied based on Prop 8?

Also, the whole disbelieving in Evolution thing. -Spud

How is this relevant to the topic? Or are you just in a general "rail against the Mormons" mood?

Yeesh, That's a FAIL of biblical proportions. -Spud
Heh, heh, don't know if you were going for the freudian slip here, but it's pretty good....

Oh on topic... :)

It'd be interesting to see what Romney does; I personally thought he'd be a good choice for McCain's VP (waaaaaaay better that Palin) as he knew a lot more about economics that the admitedly weak-on-economics McCain. Depending on what happens in the next 4 years, we may want a president who is strong on the economy.

UTAstaff & Dethspud,

Romney (like Paulson, Rubin, Bush and Obama)support "free market myths", which can only dig us into a deeper hole than we are already in. He worked in the economic sector which has bled the country dry, moving from 2% of Corporate profits in the fifties to 40% today (until their fraud was discovered). No economy can sustain itself in the long term when compound interest exceeds economic growth.

The Mormons have "evolved" into an economic powerhouse and well educated community. How this happened when they were arose from the imagination of a lying sexual predator says a lot about human nature. Joseph Smith, killed in jail while running for President, had an insatiable sexual appetite, 14 to 60 made no differnece to him, and used his position for maximum advantage in this regard.

Mormons, like all suppressed minorities, try harder. Their abuse of the tax code has enriched them to the point where they confidently prophesize that one day the US Government will come to them with hat in hand (because no one else will lend them any money). Unlike California, Utah remains solvent. The Mormon Church is a sophisticated Investment Firm first if a Church second. But its members are taught thrift, personal responsibility and have built an extraordinary system of communal support for eachother. Always persecuted, they aren't as inclined to help outsiders.

Mormopns aint racist?!

Well, thanks fer the newsflash, Bartimus!

Spud really appreciates.

Actually you did catch Spud out in one regard there. Black's can be members of an LDS congregation they just can't lead.

Le Oops!

One notable exception, Bring'em Young, the founder of Moronism, did ordain a black fella waaaay back in the day when the group was hard up for members, a fella named Elijah Abel.

From then on it was all downhill for Blacks in the LDS faith.

While blacks were indeed allowed into the Mormon church since it's earliest days they weren't allowed to lead a congregation, serve in a mission or even get married in the church until 1978 which is why there was a splinter group of Black Mormons who broke off from the church and started their own Black Mormon Church in 1971.

www.ldsgenesisgroup.org

Bring'em Young University refused to allow blacks into their school uintil societal pressure made them. Their anti-biracial dating policy got them in trouble so they adapted by banning dating altogether policy.

Blacks in Mormom churches have been called the "N Word" by their white counterparts and had to sit through sermons telling them they were the "cursed" descendants of Ham.

But they're not racist/snark>

The homophobia thing?

So Spud, what rights are denied based on Prop 8?

The right to true equality.

Gay Marriages and Straight marriages are like men and women.

Equal but different.

Gay marriage not only doesn't hurt traditional marriage but it also adds many benefits to a society like increased stability and less AIDS.

There is simply no rational argument wotsoever against gay marriage and indeed, equal rights under the law for gays in all aspects of society.

Do you think you have such an argument?

Spud'd like to hear it.

Be Well.

Mormopns = Mormons

/Damnit, Spud really should use the spell check but thinks it's a typa cheating.

Ta to Nutcase fer the heads up on the polygamous, cradle robbing nature of the Mormon church's founder.

And you are right that this RW truism about Romney being some kind of economic guru is really more of a "falsism".

/Ha! Spud do luff to coin words.

There are still some Mormon off-shoots that practise polygamy. We have some here in BC. They marry the girls waaaay too young, refuse to allow them a decent education, abuse them in many instances and there are constant charges of incest rape as well. They also rip off our welfare system shamelessly.

Spud offers up those facts just in case folk was wondering why this religious sect gets on Spud's nerves from time to time.

Oh, in case folks haven't seen it yet.

Here's "Door to door Athiest"

Funny, funny stuff.

Be Well.

All Mormons may not be "biggots" (sic) but if we elected one president, we'd have in the White House a man (indisputably) who believed in Mrs. God, a heaven of eternal pregnancy for women, and heavenly ranks (yes, castes in heaven) based on what their husbands did on earth. Something we might tolerate in Wasilla, Crawford or Salt Lake City, but I'd just hate it in Washington. herm

Romney mulling;

'i wonder if i'm prettier than sarah palin.'

'i wonder how she makes her hair so bouncy'

His 'expertise' in finance is based squarely on cutting up companies and sending jobs overseas.

The only thing thing that would have grown for the country under Romney is unemployment.

You know it's got to royally suck for the average Republicans. Here You have a well known Republican Conservative in Mitt Romney that may end up playing second fiddle to a know nothing Sarah Palin. How does this happen?? I mean we all know the Republican brand took a major dump but surely they didn't sink THAT far. What gives anyways. If Sarah Palin is the new voice for the Republican Party then someone better stock up on World Book Encyclopedias and some Power Steering Fluid. Cause She is gonna need both.

Larry

I love the 'power steering pump' analogy. I truly believe it is an insult to power steering pumps everywhere, but they will get over it. They can just 'turn' the other cheek.

I'd like to have sex with Sarah, but that's about it..

FF Larry!

Unless the GOPpers get out from under the thumb of evanjihadists, Romney, or anybody like him will never be their nominee.

Sure he could! She's a loony tune and she's a tool of Cheney, Limbaugh and the neocons and theocons. Does that not have a marginalizing effect?

"Palin's GOP" has kind of a ring, a halo, about it, right? herm

In the national interest, a candidate's viability has to come down to 1. the ability to reason through complex issues, 2. the ability to communicate a viable vision and ethical strategy, and the 3. competence to make that strategy work.

The GOP can craft the last two elements for Ms. Palin to mouth in public, but I haven't seen her demonstrate the first element - and that scares me.

The Neocons are what America is, was, and always will be

"The Neocons are what America is, was, and always will be."

The very thought makes my hair stand on end, but Timmy may well be right. herm

maybe if he wears his lucky underpants he can have a shot at it.
