It's looking like President-elect Barack Obama is choosing between Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton and New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson for secretary of state, and folks are starting to choose sides.

If Obama is smart he will have Hillary do Sec of State.

That way she can't run against him in 2012.

Considering either pick is an obvious attempt to neutralize them for the 2012 Democratic primary, it's a shame he can't pick both of them. They're both so . . . qualified.

What is the slap is that Hillary wasn't his VP choice but would be his SoS choice.

It's lovely to see the Republican Party in such shambles. Do you think it will last a decade or a generation?

Hillary, hands down, for Secretary of State.

Bill Richardson dropped any loyalty to the Clintons and ran over to Obama when he saw she was going to lose in the primaries. Richardson owes his entire political career to the Clintons and the opportunities they gave him. Richardson is a loser and two-faced.

Hillary Clinton for Secretary of State.

It will last until 2010--;o)

CC--How are doing?

Fires again --Sylmar pretty close to San Fernando.

Orange County is getting pretty burned up --again too.

Richardson fer State or better yet some non-pol policy wonk with some name recognition but more brains.

Hillary to replace the ball-less wonder that is Reid as the Senate Majority leader.

Colin Powell fer Sec Ed.

Be Well.

/Gone.

I doesn't surprise me, but you don't seem to understand that the Republican Party just fell apart.

Leave Murph alone.

Her predictions are every bit as entertaining as Bowa's.

Well Ted--just save my post--dare ya'.

Yer on.

Yeah, here we go again, right?
I'm doing okay. The sky is all white haze as usual with these fires. Seems like every time I wake up the last couple days there's another batch of fires started. Hundreds of homes burned to the ground. A real shame. They warned everyone in Los Angeles County and Orange County to not go outside today if you don't have to as the air is so bad.

I went outside anyway this morning, though, to cut back the branches on some bushes and a couple of small semi-trees in the backyard which were growing too high and a few branches had started to grow over on to the roof. It's the fires that made me decide to get going on it today. I figured if any fires started nearby and had any flying embers it would be best to trim them back so they wouldn't be "ember catchers" right next to the house. Whew! It's a job cutting them back but I did manage to fill up the large green garbage can (for grass and cuttings) with all the branches and get them trimmed so now I don't feel like I'm sitting on a pile of kindling. lol

Did you get any of the smoke down your way? I hear San Diego had record high temperatures. Unusual for San Diego. The weather everywhere in Southern Cal has been so weird -- hot, dry, and single digit humidity. No wonder everything goes up in flames so easily.

I have a gmail account... send me an address and I'll send some pics of SB.

Burbank? C'mon now. Suck it up.

Hillary would have too big of a stage as SoS. Richardson would be a better fit.

Put Senator Clinton on the Supreme Court. It would be fun to actually see her dust of that law degree. Seeing sparks fly between her, Thomas and Scalia might be fun. Her would get her opportunity to speak ex cathedra as a Justice and she would be out of the picture politically for the foreseeable future.

Hillary for SCOTUS!? Are you kidding? I'd rather see her as SoS then. I don't think it's a good idea to have Hillary doing so much damage to the Constitution and America sitting on the SCOTUS for 25 or 30 years.

Any "damage" she could do would be minimal. The more conservative members are close to her age and are likely balance her influence.

Osame is doing a bang up job picking his staff. Change? Hope!

Rather than watch this break down into a debate over petty politics, I'd rather see this settled in a relatively dignified manner.

I suggest nude mud wrestling. Winner gets pick of job.

Life goes on.

Richardson is a loser and two-faced.

You expect more of a politician?

Richardson for SOS and H Clinton should stay in the Senate. I think her ego would be a serious hindrance to her effectiveness and eventually Obama's effectiveness if she were in any cabinet position. I can just picture her trying to take over cabinet meetings and leading the discussion on every topic.

She should stay in the Senate where there are well established rules and protocols. There she would not be able to feed her ego at Obama's expense.

In addition to being eminently well qualified, I believe that a Richardson pick would make him the first Hispanic SOS. If so, picking him would be a nice gesture to the Hispanic community.

Hilary would be good at Sec Of State...providing she can follow Obama's orders...or redifine them when expedient & prudent that makes American interest first & all other Corporations & Countries second in a realistic safe way.

Whoops ~ a negative...

Kissinger Says Clinton Will Be `Outstanding' Secretary of State

Hillary would serve better as Senate Majority Leader, she's too independent to work for Obama, he is just throwing her a bone to buy her loyalty.

can't be worst than Pelosi...whoops, wrong house

why not just put in the whole clinton's past adminstration in office? make bill advisor to the president.

Richardson has already proved himself to be self serving and two-faced. (To quote James Carville = a "Judas")

Obama won't have to wonder about Richardson's loyalty as it is already clear the NM Gov is only loyal to himself = SOS bad choice.

I would go with Richardson at State, assuming he is willing to leave his present job. He has experience and respect overseas. Clinton needs to stay in the Senate - Bill's overseas work would be a big potential conflict of interest and her "star power" might lead to too many expectations.

Richardson or Hillary... hmmmmmm, let's see... do we want deceptively inept or cunningly dishonest?

lol

not sure what this has to do with subject but let me remind you of what I posted on the border thread

bush 41 devastated the dems and we got clinton 4 years later

lbj slaughtered goldwater in 64 and in 68 we got nixon so there is plenty of history to look at to answer your question that you are really exagerating the demise of the gop

and now to the subject

on all three sunday shows, of course this was a big topic and on ALL THREE the question was asked

but what about bill??

so he remains a noose around her neck......

and as I am sure most of you will agree. bill is probably lobbying hard for her to take it as it will mean she is out of the country for long periods at a time.......wink wink...
not that that hampered him anyway.......( IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN>>>>>>>)
