Mitch Mitchell was an incredible drummer.

R.I.P.

The link doesn't seem to work...probably bushed the c&p.

This should work.

Yes, He was

RIP, Mitch Mitchell

Lots of rock and rollers kicking the bucket lately.

The longer you live. The more people you get to see die.
That sucks....
I'm on an email list from my high school, and it seems recently they have been dropping like flies.

Funny, I put a Hendrix tee on my one year old this a.m.

RIP Mitch.

Mitchell was great. Noel Redding was an asshole.

then the little toddler broke into a rousing rendition of 'let me stand next to the potty'.

Too bad it wasn't the person that named him Mitch Mitchell that died instead.

RIP Mitch. How is the jam session going now that one if the best power trio's are all at that endless gig????

Jimmy's still in rehab purgatory.

Guy was only 6 years older than me. They all seemed so much older back then.

RIP.

How is the jam session going

Charlie Parker is happy.

They finally got a replacement for Karen Carpenter on drums.

Hendrix has finally reformed the *original* Experience...
Along with Cream, they defined the word *power trio*...

Sad, sad day...
Jimi and the Experience are playing SO loud...hopefully it's pissing off all the old dead hippies in heaven..lol

LOL... they're all dancing around Jerry playing an infinite solo. they don't even hear the Experience.

I saw him in the "Hendrix Experience" Tour a few weeks ago in Vegas. Two other drummers carried the show while he provided a Cameo thump thump for a few songs and brought stage crew out for post show applause. Didn't quite make it it to the Beatles "magic age of 64", looked and behaved like he was 75. But an extraordinarily polite and caring person, in the British tradition.

Hendrix was once asked who he though is the most up a coming guitarist at the time, he replied emphatically Billy Gibbons.

To this day Ted Nugent assails and attacks Hendrix at every opportunity --- simply because he (Hendrix) didn't consider Ted's work worth a shit!

though = thought

Let me stand next to your pyre.

Sweaty Teddy couldn't polish Jimi's shoes. For all of Nugent's crap about being the alpha dog and the great hunter, he took a powder on Vietnam. I think ole Ted only likes shooting at things that can't fight back.

It was a week night May 9th 1969. I was 15 along with my girlfriend, when my mother took us to the Charlotte Arena.
We had 3rd row center seats, that our drummer's dad got for us. There is not way to describe the, yes, Experience.
It changed my life, I took bass playing very seriously after that night. Rest in peace Mitch.
Oh yea, my mother mentioned much later, that many of those long haired musicians looked like girls, but that Hendrix,
was a "real man".

Ironically, being a rock and roller is probably one of the most dangerous jobs in the world. Drug OD's and plane crashes leading the causes of death. The Stones have lived beyond their life expectancy.

*they're all dancing around Jerry playing an infinite solo. they don't even hear the Experience*

hmm, I doubt it...Jerry was and always has been marginal(at best).

Reminds me of an old joke...What did one dead head say to to the other once they ran out of acid at a show?
"Lets get the hell out of here, this music sucks"

Hendrix re-invented/invented modern guitar...he ushered in an entirely new era of sounds and techniques that will be influencing young guitarist for eon's....

I've seen *the dead* with Jerry a few times...I was so impressed, I literally feel asleep. Jerry isn't fit to tie Jimi's boot laces...Hendrix was from another planet...not of this earth.

I guess Mitch is finally getting his chance to Kiss The Sky.

RIP Mr Mitchell.

Are you sure about them Rolling Stones having survived? Keith Richards must have passed some years back and Jagger don't look much better. You tryin' to tell me they are alive? Naaah!

Maybe they should rename themselves the Rolling Skulls.

What a fantastic drummer. I never saw him but, I did see Buddy Miles before he died, he was drumming for Junior Brown.

Buddy Miles and Junior Brown???

That's a little weird.

Must've been a good show....I'm envious.

Buddy Miles and Junior Brown???

That's a little weird.

He played only a snare with brushes. The show was at Johnny D's in Davis Square, Sommerville MA

circa 97-98

It was great, Buddy came in leaning heavy on two canes and I was maybe four feet from him. Made eyes a few times, I just melted inside, lol....Junior was beyond awsome that night....I have seen him 3 times since and no show quite compared.

Whatever. Comparing Hendrix and Jerry is like apples and oranges. Hendrix appealed to more than just hippies. My bet is that you couldn't do anything other than just sit there and be astounded watching Jimi, but with Jerry, you could dance and have a great time. And I never ate at the shows... still got the bliss.

That said, Phil is as important to what the Dead were as Jerry was. Anybody who's seen Phil and Friends knows this. Of all the Dead side projects, Phil and friends is as close as you are going to get to what was lost.

Racoon, Cheetah, Tiller1, Tiller2

The Stones have lived beyond their life expectancy.
FWTHOM - one of them called Brian Jones didn't.

I rememeber playing the San Franciso Holiday Inn back in 1959 with Jimmy Page. Jimmy was telling me about this black kid that was really neat. Turned out it was Hendrix -AmericanUnity
