For the committed socialists, the realization of a more classless society might be enough to offset the economic stagnation brought on by such measures, but for the rest of us it just means a decrease in standard of living, brought on against our will.

Many people also believe that Obama will attempt to alter the second amendment by limiting sales and ownership of firearms. This has apparently driven up gun sales by 50% in the last week; more than was seen in anticipation of Y2K or post 9/11

Gretta Van Sustern had cosmetic surgery on Her face sometime back. Her left portion of Her mouth didn't close quite right so that was corrected. As far as Deadliest Catch they fish for Opelio King and some other crab off of the bering straits. They usually meet up at a special watering hole to drink and make a friendly wager for good fishing. This is at Dutch Harbor. As for the Ice Road Truckers that happens up in North Country they take supplies for the Natural Gas and Oil explorations done up in North Country. They drive over what is water during the off season when it becomes iced up enough they drive on it. Hence the Ice Road Truckers. Each new season they plow a road on the ice and that is their "Highway" to and from towns and such. It's a cool show really.

That documentary the other night on the Berlin airlift, complete with interviews of pilots and Berliners who were children then, was really enjoyable and educational.

I agree most of TV is dribble, but I love my PBS, History Channel, and Discovery.

Reading about history and science is fun. Watching it in action brings it to life in a way a book can't sometimes.

At one time I wanted to go live in Australia for a year. Steve Irwin's show on the "10 deadliest snakes in the world" - nine of which are indigenous to Australia - complete with the fact there are 120 deadly varieties of snake, 50 deadly spiders, deadly plants, and two of the world's only poisonous mammals along with crocs, great whites, and a dozen varieties of sea snakes in the water killed that plan.

Especially the story about the guy who'd opened his car hood in suburban Sydney the week before only to be immediately bitten by a brown snake (deadly) coiled on his engine, and died before they got him to the hospital.

Cured me of Aussie thoughts. I've been there for short periods of time, but I'm gonna pass on staying too long if I go back.

Though I watch a couple of shows when I'm here on the rig (Discovery, NG, and History channels) I learn a lot more about TV on this forum than anywhere else.
