Comin' from a guy whose party has zero elected blacks, and zero interest in electing one, that's funny, also. Given the number of elected black Democrats, you may want to get educatified on the meaning of the word "token".

Not that I'm a Republican party apologist because I think they are just as bad as the Democrats, but you are techinally wrong lets start with the state of Texas because thats where I live and know most about.
Wallace Jefferson - Justice, State Supreme Court
Dale Wainwright - Justice, State Supreme Court
Michael L. Williams - Chair, Railroad Commission
Gregory Parker - Commissioner, Comal County
Bobbie J, Mitchell - Commissioner, Denton County
Ken Bryant, Trustee - Fort Bend County
Gwen Morrison - Trustee, Tarrant County Junior College
If thats not enough for you I'm sure I can come up with at least 100 more names from the different states that currently serve on the state and local level.
Former U.S. Reps
Oscar Stanton De Priest, former U.S. Representative from Illinois
Gary Franks, former U.S. Representative from Connecticut
John Roy Lynch, former U.S. Representative from Mississippi
Charles Edmund Nash, former U.S Representative from Louisiana
Joseph H. Rainey, former U.S. Representative from South Carolina, first African American to serve in the U.S. House of Representatives
Robert Smalls, former U.S. Representative from South Carolina
J. C. Watts, former U.S. Representative from Oklahoma
U.S. Senator
Edward Brooke, former U.S. Senator from Massachusetts, first African American elected by popular vote to the U.S. Senate
Blanche Bruce, former U.S. Senator from Mississippi, first African American to serve a full term in the U.S. Senate
Now all of these people were elected not appointed.
Don't you think a little research would go a long way
