This is a great start. I hope he gets the nod. I really like Steele.

And with Newt and him working together they can get the ideas rolling and strategy to win in 2010.

I was pulling for Steele in 04 but they went for Mel.
Hope he gets it...Newtty has gone a little soft in the head.

Let's see-Boehner in the House-Steele as RNC Chief..

I guess the R's have a boner of steel.....
Must be all that Airport bathroom sex.

First Sarah Palin and now Michael Steele...I guess tokenism is all that's left of the "Mighty Whitie" Republican Party.

Actually Steele is a fairly good guy. He's a reasonable republican that probably has little in common with Bush and Cheney and Palin. He mught actually work to restore the values once held high by the Republican Party. The reason he lost his race for Governor was because the guy before him, Bob Ehrlich, also a repub, was a dick and closer to the neocons.

Steele should have been the choice in 2004.

He will be a great RNC chairperson.

Before the thread goes away, just to let you know I left you a message with some info on the "Nation Honors Veterans" thread. It's not too many posts past the post you put on there yesterday. Just wanted to make sure you saw it in case you didn't go back to that thread again.

Funny, considering you got your party's token elected.

DAMMINIT TO HELL frank

I just hate it when a liberal makes me laugh

good one

send it in to stewart...........

Micheal Steele is an awesome pick, I also think McCain should have picked him as VP.

Funny, considering you got your party's token elected.

Comin' from a guy whose party has zero elected blacks, and zero interest in electing one, that's funny, also. Given the number of elected black Democrats, you may want to get educatified on the meaning of the word "token".

Funny, considering you got your party's token elected.

#8 | Posted by ELCIDCE90

Yeah, elected by 52% of the electorate and 70% of the electoral votes costitutes token. It's more likely you are the token moron on the DR with comments like that.

costitutes = constitutes

Selecting Steele in lieu of Newt would at least help move the party away from the old farts bringing it down.

Newt's kind of a dirt ball.

Funny, considering you got your party's token elected.

The Democrats do not need to employ a tokenism approach to winning elections because we're still riding high on the failures of YOUR Southern Strategy. Enjoy your time in the "minority".

A special shout out to Rush Limbaugh and the rest of the dildoheads...err dittoheads for alienating another group of minorities...Hispanic Americans, welcome to the Democratic Party!

Not that I'm a Republican party apologist because I think they are just as bad as the Democrats, but you are techinally wrong lets start with the state of Texas because thats where I live and know most about.

Wallace Jefferson - Justice, State Supreme Court
Dale Wainwright - Justice, State Supreme Court
Michael L. Williams - Chair, Railroad Commission
Gregory Parker - Commissioner, Comal County
Bobbie J, Mitchell - Commissioner, Denton County
Ken Bryant, Trustee - Fort Bend County
Gwen Morrison - Trustee, Tarrant County Junior College

If thats not enough for you I'm sure I can come up with at least 100 more names from the different states that currently serve on the state and local level.

Former U.S. Reps
Oscar Stanton De Priest, former U.S. Representative from Illinois
Gary Franks, former U.S. Representative from Connecticut
John Roy Lynch, former U.S. Representative from Mississippi
Charles Edmund Nash, former U.S Representative from Louisiana
Joseph H. Rainey, former U.S. Representative from South Carolina, first African American to serve in the U.S. House of Representatives
Robert Smalls, former U.S. Representative from South Carolina
J. C. Watts, former U.S. Representative from Oklahoma

U.S. Senator
Edward Brooke, former U.S. Senator from Massachusetts, first African American elected by popular vote to the U.S. Senate
Blanche Bruce, former U.S. Senator from Mississippi, first African American to serve a full term in the U.S. Senate

Now all of these people were elected not appointed.

Don't you think a little research would go a long way

Gee, that's original!

America votes in a Black man and wham, the GOP offers up its counter Black man!

The GOP has truly become the party of followers!

Kind of like Hillary almost beat Obama in the primaries and then BAM! McCain picks Palin.

Look for the GOP to say something like "Look America, we got one of "the blacks" too. See, we like colored folks"

Yeah!

Where did this "Steele" come from? Obama wins and suddenly he just appears out of nowhere. It's not like he ran for Senate or anything prior to the '08 election.

Sincerely,

Umm, please name one current black Republican Congressman or Senator. Or black candidate for either of those.
Other than JC Watt, name another black Republican Senator or Congressman from the last 20 years.

"Where did this "Steele" come from?"

Why he was in that special room in the attic reserved for all the GOP stepchildren, of course!

Funny thing is Steele has been around for awhile, but only recently trotted out by the RNC echo chamber! Coincidence? Not really, more like Sadly Predictable!

But I do agree with you livedie, Newt is a cancer on true conservatism that needs to be excised ASAP!

Speaking of tokenism, did you vote Democrat?

Lets rephrase this by plugging in a few words just to see if it fits, shall we?:

"First Hillary Clinton and now Barak Obama...I guess tokenism is all that's left of the "I'm sorry I'm a Whitie" Democrat Party."

It fits perfectly.

Actaully, he had a very good approval rating as Gov, and is still well liked in MD. But MD politics go to one side, so he lost re-election to a toolbox Boy Mayor.

"I'm sorry I'm a Whitie" Democrat Party."

#25 | Posted by KBM

Which makes our counterparts across the aisle the "I'm a real American because I'm white and heterosexual, so dank ya Jaysus" Party.

"Speaking of tokenism, did you vote Democrat?"

Yes I did but that's not tokenism, that's I'm done with Bushism"

"Lets rephrase this by plugging in a few words just to see if it fits, shall we?"

Cue in fake laugh track, shall we?

I like Steele.. he's articulate and conservative.

Don't you think a little research would go a long way

Way to go changing your argument after you were proven wrong. Your post never said anything about U.S. Reps or Senator I believe your exact quote was

"Comin' from a guy whose PARTY HAS ZERO ELECTED BLACKS, AND ZERO INTEREST IN ELECTING ONE, that's funny, also. Given the number of elected black Democrats, you may want to get educatified on the meaning of the word "token"."

Now that you've been proven wrong on that point I'll humor your other little argument.

U.S. Rep. candidates
Raymond L. Chukwu, US Congress (CA-15th)
Eddie Adams, Jr. for US Congress (FL 11)
Deborah Honeycutt For US Congress (GA 13th)
Catherine Davis For US Congress (GA 4th)
Eric Dickerson for US Congress (IN-7)
Obi Sium for US Congress (MN 4th)
Yvonne R. Brown for US Congress (MS-2)
Dr. Ada M. Fisher For US Congress (NC-12)
Vernon Robinson For US Congress (NC-13)
Bruce Broussard for Oregon for US Congress (OR-3)
Derrick Bennett for US Congress (TN 9th)
Guess who defeated them Democrats

U.S. Senate candidates
Lt. Governor Michael Steele for US Senate.

Guess how many elected black Democratic U.S. Senators there will be after Jan. 20 answer 0

Seems to me the numbers just are not in your favor
as far as elected black Senators Dems = 2 Repubs = 2

I know I know facts are hell.

I know you're trying to make some point about Obama's victory coinciding with this black republican "suddenly" showing up on the scene, but I had heard about Steele long before Obama. 2006 in fact.

"But I do agree with you livedie, Newt is a cancer on true conservatism that needs to be excised ASAP!"

Keep in mind that if what you deem the party of racism puts more and more blacks/minorities in positions of leadership, only good can come of it, aside from the good of removing the old farts that ran it into the ground.

I'm sure Steele's dick is getting hard from just the attention. Power, Power!

Black liberals throw oreo cookies at
Michael Steele when he speaks in public.

What a disgrace.
Michael Steele has more guts than most can ever
know. Steele is a self-made original thinker.
Not a plantation black.

JSL-there is actually only one black Senator-his name is Obama and he's a democrat. There are ZERO black Republicans in the House or Senate. I'd suggest laying off the turpentine-it's messing your head up.

And if you have to go back to Reconstruction to dig up black Republicans, you really are admitting the racism of the GOP....

Lynn Swann ran in PA for US Senate as a Repub but lost.

As for after Jan 20th--not so fast there--Jesse Jackson's son is pushing to be appointed by the governor to fill Obama's spot.

And NG3--Repubs are not racists--go ahead and admit it--you are the racist.

You are very good at changing your agrument once you are proven wrong.

Did I say there were any current black Republican Senators of course I did'nt but really nice try I think you'll have to try a little harder next time.

So for everybody thats counting thats still 2 Dem. & 2 Repub. ELECTED senators you can't change facts.
and both Dem. ELECTED Senators came from the same state IL.

Funny I didn't know they had Reconstruction in Massachusetts in the 1970's thats where Senator Edward Brooke was from.

As far as going back to the reconstruction era is concerned yes most but not all the black senators of that time were appointed because your precious Democratic party kept blacks away from the polls.

Man the air up there must be really thin.

"As far as going back to the reconstruction era is concerned yes most but not all the black senators of that time were appointed because your precious Democratic party kept blacks away from the polls."

Who gives a fuck what the policies and practices of the Democratic party was 150 years ago? Are you stupid or what?

Just to set the record straight I said there will be no ELECTED black Dem. Senators after Jan. 20. Appointed maybe but I hear President-Elect Obama is not supporting Jackson so we'll see.

I hope the Governor will select the best person for the job and if that best person just happens to be black well great but it should not be a requirement.

Before everyone starts to think I'm just defending my party. I'm not a Republithug or a Democant I'm a Libertarian I just like the truth.

Do you see any irony in the GOP being led by a guy whose name is a homonymn for "steal" (because that's the only way the GOP wins elections)?

Republicans are always quick to point out that Lincoln was a Republican. I have no idea how that's relevant to anything.

Why can't we have a black leader?

The GOP can pick anyone they want. But let's face it -- they're picking a black man because they want to try to steal some of the Dem's thunder. Instead of finding the handful of misguided black people who, probably due to mental illness or some kind of self-hating delusion, are Republicans and then promoting them into leadership positions, the GOP needs to dramatically shift their beliefs and policies away from their racist stances. The GOP is looking at their candidates and playing the old Sesame Street game "Which One of These Things is Not Like the Other." Maybe Dubya helped them... he probably still watches that show.

You, Sir, are the racist.

And that has what to do with Steele running for GOP position?

I mean let's be honest, not every person that is republican is hanging out in airport bathrooms for sex. Only a liberal would make such a statement. Contrary to your beliefs, gay sex is insignificant considering that Californians voted no on proposition 8. Not only that Obama united you guys long enough to get him elected and then the news that 70% of the blacks that voted in California for Obama voted no for proposition 8. Then as karma would have it, the same people that declared Republicans racists for the last year started dropping the N bomb on their fellow Obamanians.

Get some class Frank.

Lonnie

Contrary to you guys thoughts, I think Michael Steele is more than qualified for the position. He's a firm conservative and not one of those idiots out there trying to redefine conservatism to be closer to what a Democrat is. If he'd been on the ballot, I'd have voted for him over John McCain any day!

I personally have enjoyed listening to Steele talk in several radio interviews and anytime I've heard him on tv. He's out there talking the talk and walking the walk. That goes a long way in my books.

Lonnie
