Obama shows his true color in his first appointment. Let the healing begin as long as you have a dont mind a couple % more of your income to be taken

Rahm Emanuel is Jewish and his parents are Israeli so I think this choice was mostly to calm down the Jewish left than to stick it to the right. There is no way, with this man on his staff, that Obama would abandon Israel.

All of the Republican kvetching about how Emanuel is divisive makes me think they fear the guy.

You have to remember that the largest group I think of Democratic voters Obama had to win over and mostly failed to do so with is the Jewish voter block. I really believe this move is just to show them they have nothing to worry about.

I think that this appointment is more about discipline, intelligence, knowledge than it is about pandering to any group. The election is over, if it was to gain favor with Jews it would have been announced before we voted. I think President Obama just thinks Emanuel will run a very smooth, gaff-free WH staff.

Me thinks Danni is right. There is no need to pander to anyone right now. Now is the time to get the best qualified folks in place. There is a lot of work to do. Bush has dug a hole all the way to China!

How much better could you expect him to have done?

"78% of Jewish vote went to Obama, polls find
Denver Post Wire Report"

Better...I can tell you that not one of my parents' friends, nor my grand parents' friends, nor their families voted for him because he would "hurt Israel." To be honest, outside of myself and my parents, I don't know a single Jew who voted for Obama in South Florida.

He would never have done that. Way too risky.

Then it appears that your family and friends are among the 22%.

Sana,
Yes it does and that makes me happy to be honest. One can only go by their experiances, so I really worried he lost the Jewish vote due to racist beliefs and shallow fears.

But I am also a non-standard Jew because I feel no loyalty to Israel. I am an American Jew and America is my promised land.

I know quite a few Jews here in S. Florida who voted for President Obama. Not all Jews are equally dedicated to Israel and Barack did reassure everyone that he will stand by Israel anyway.

Good work Barack Hussein Obama. Way to drive to the center by hiring a far left wing abrasive divisive guy like Rahm Emanuel as Chief of Staff.

Oh and so much for CHANGE by hiring an ex-Clintonite Washington insider.

Obama is such a fraud and is proving it before he steps his lying feet in the White House.

You're kind of late to the whinefest there Staffy.

"Obama shows his true color in his first appointment"

Yup, consider it one of the consequences of winning an election!

Bwahahahahahahahahaha!~

"Oh and so much for CHANGE"

I don't suspect we will see much of Bolton anymore! Change enough for me!

I also don't think we will hear from Rudy either! Change enough for me!

"Way to drive to the center by hiring a far left wing abrasive divisive guy like Rahm Emanuel as Chief of Staff."

Who says he is heading for the center????
In America we drive on the right side of the road but our President will govern from the left.
After the right has been in charge for so many years it will take a while to even figure out where the center even is.

"Who says he is heading for the center"

The same people who said he was going Marxist, then Socialist!

Shocking another former Daley man. Maybe they can run the US as a model of Chicago. Seeing as every scum sucking Daley connection has got him to the top.

The folks at IPAC must be very happy:

www.drudge.com

Now that we have Chicago Style Polotics going to the white look to the city of Chicag for our next 4 years. Hell Daley and Blogo want to "absorb" the Baseball Parks(Cubs/WhiteSox Parks not the kiddie dirt diamonds) in Chicago in to the IDNR!>? WTF? Why the hell should i pay for a ballpark I have never/Nor will ever go to?????? Also take a good long look and the Pension system in Illinois. Obama has NEVER said one Negative thing about that!!!

101 - you really ARE a revolting bigot, aren't you?

Man Illinois is one fucked up state. Broke Pension funds, Realestate scum lord involved at the highest level of polotics, and a Governor that is to retarded to understand the the GOVERNOR lives in THE GOVERNOR MANSION IN SPRINGFIELD NOT IN CHICAGO. jesus christ.

Dawn,

Do you realize that not only has 101 not posted on this thread, but he didn't create the thread either?

"The same people who said he was going Marxist, then Socialist!"

Now that you mention it...it is the same ones.
That's funny.

Gee the markets have had there worst two day performance since 1987. The markets FEAR obama's economic plans... and we are in for a nasty bear market. WHICH I've been predicting here since the dem's took control of congress. moneywar scoffed at my prediction.

LOOK OUT BELOW.

Oh btw HOW will alt energy compete with baseline resources? BY OUTLAWING THEM. Great ideas there dudes....

Dear DaveTheWageSlave:

Do you know why the markets fear Obama's economic plans? Because those plans include the little guy as well as scum-sucking, off-shoring, golden-parachuting CEOs.

After eight years of Bush, Corporate America is going to take a little while to get its head together for the new order of things.

Speaking of the new order of things - since you're a rightie, have you reported for your identification tattoo and given your wife and daughters over to be ravished by brown-skinned people yet? It's the law now, you know. ;-)

I truly fear for the safty of the 1st, 2nd, and 4th amendments.

"The markets FEAR obama's economic plans... "

Right...it couldn't be Bush's bailout: the fact production will contract as we print a trillion dollars of paper.

Of course, it could just be those guys actually went to business school after all. Remind me, what is the textbook definition of inflation....?

....and the Mossad continues its tradition of having a ranking spy planted right in the heart of the White House....

textbook definition of inflation....?

The slow steady injection of compressed air into the shrader valve on a tire??

Larry

I make my own wages marty and have since 1983.My daughter is 21 and a Obama supporter, so is my son. None of us would react badly if they hitched up with HOWEVER they were attracted to...skin color nothwithstanding

However, TAXING US companies is no way to pull us out of a recession. What they(taxes) do is hamper growth, restrain outputs, drive business overseas, and create more bureaucracy.

How who whatever

Bushes bailout had overwhelming democratic support, and only moderate republican support. It's like blaming republicans for America, and owning up to NONE of your own parties errors. Like with "no redlining" and "low income" loans. Even now dem's are saying the bailedout banks need to make low income loans. But in the next breath you blame predator loans. If your hypocrasy wasn't so dangerous to us all....it'd be funny

You will spend decades telling us this has nothing to do with obamanoics. But you ignore that the markets are forward looking, and their view scares the shit out of them, Rightfully so

"But in the next breath you blame predator loans."

Do you really believe the mortgages were the problem, and not the leveraging? Really? Lehman was leveraged 100-1, btw. Just to see how tethered you are to reality, which was the real problem: the '1', or the '100'...?

"You will spend decades telling us this has nothing to do with obamanoics."

About the only thing I'll point out is a balanced budget and 11% debt burden is better than the largest deficit ever and an 18% debt burden. Which do YOU think is better?

"Bushes bailout had overwhelming democratic support, and only moderate republican support"

So what? It was Bush and Paulson's idea. Bush drove the ship of state off the cliff, the "bailout" was merely a decision to engage the airbags before impact.

So if that's what you think why is Pelosi pushing for another 500 billion "stimulis" package...and 25 billion for the shlock auto companies in detroit?

It was the loss of mortgage asset value that's hammered everybody, even those with low leverage. And dude, it's a worldwide issue, not just US domiciloed, like you pretend.

BTW The multiplier effect of asset devaluing is a huge issue, and I am NOT minimizing that problem. But every bank in the world uses leverage, it's how they work.....

"why is Pelosi pushing for another 500 billion "stimulis" package.."

For the same reason FDR increased deficit spending.

(btw, I disagree with Pelosi...but what's new?)

I do agree danforth, that balloning debts are a very bad situation....and that the chase the hedge fund returns thru leverage mentality was idiotic.....

"it's a worldwide issue"

It's worldwide mainly because a) virtually all world economies are influenced by the US, and b) many of them were holding the bad paper.

"But every bank in the world uses leverage"

Not at 100-1.

Read my previous comment....

this emanuel guy is gonna be obamas pit bull. the old good cop bad cop routine. the israelis won't be sad about it, that's fer sure.

it takes a lot of money to sustain an american province in the middle of the middle east.

The market has been dead in the water for 10 years. Look at MSN Money charts. But if it makes you feel better to blame Obama and Dems, go ahead.

Alex Jones has this opinion about the fellow...which I didn't know at all

www.prisonplanet.com

Well, my father was a Republican Atheist to the core...so stripes can change in the next generation

They are all to blame. The dems for encourageing bad lending practices. The repubs for looking the other way when the leveraging got out of control.

The *real* issue now is that the Dems are in control, SO what are they going to do about it? Will they raise more taxes? Will there be more bailouts? What are they going to do.

In two years there will be another election. By then we will know if what the Dems are doing is working or not. If they do not get busy and get this fixed, Obama will be working with a repub congress. The people voted out the Repubs because they failed, they can vote out the Dems if they fail.

"It was the loss of mortgage asset value that's hammered everybody,"

I actually agree with DAVETHEWAVE, that's a first I think.

Obama picks E-ma-a-anuel
And proves he won't abandon Israel
Repubs mourn on this Web site here
Because the new guy causes them fear

/apologies/

Emmanuel was on the board of Freddie Mac --- one financial dam that broke and drowned the economy --- yet he was not able to bring any meaningful service to either blow the whistle or call for reform. A Clinton crony. Now to serve in Obama admin. Liberals don't care so long as its one of their own.

heard pat kadell.........A DEMOCRAT ...yesterday who said that Chicago politics have now come to the white house

wow.......thats pretty reassuring isnt it???

this jerk is the most biased and partisan congressman maybe in the entire house and I heard gergen and the other cnn lackeys talk about how he was in the clinton white house and got things done with republicans like nafta...HELLO..,....nafta...is
nt that the issue that libs here thought was so terrible...at least some of you.

and isnt that the way that mexican trucks are now traveling our hiways with NO INSPECTION or need to obey other laws like that....

kadell also said that his methods are "NIXONIAN"

so how does THAT square with some of you libbys here??

and the other guest said its also clintonian...remembering the fbi files and shit that the clintons did.........

that kum ba ya song didnt play very long in dc, now did it....

and RUSH IS RIGHT.....RHOMBO is a chicago THUG.......

and last night on cnn........david kean said that obams promised to build a bridge and here he starts off hiring a guy thats better at blowing up bridges than building them..............right on

Was'nt this guy a top person at one of the FredyMac/FanyMay when the issues and Corruption was going on. Great choice, seems he is already proving me right, poor judgement.

"Was'nt this guy a top person at one of the FredyMac/FanyMay when the issues and Corruption was going on."

He was there for a few months.

I guess that means it's all his fault.

I don't recall Obama saying anything about building any bridges, or trying to accomodate jerk off republicans. I don't remember Obama saying he would govern from the center.

I remember Obama saying he would bring change, and this guy seems like a great change--maybe he will tell the republicans to go fuck themselves like Cheney is fond of saying.

But fuck the right---you guys are whining before you are even hurt. What a bunch of cry babies.

Hey Buffalo Bob. He said something to the effect. To those that didn't vote for Me I understand but I am here to listen and that He needed their help too. Or do You not remember that at His celebration speach.

Larry

He said for those who did not vote for me I will be your president too. I think he plans on being bipartisan. He ran on being a uniter no a divider. We have had enough partisanship for far too long.
