Ralph Nader told a TV reporter that President-elect Barack Obama has to choose between being "Uncle Sam for the people of this country, or Uncle Tom for the giant corporations," a remark he refused to apologize for later in a heated interview later with Fox News' Shepard Smith.

Well, so much for Miss Congeniality.

What's funny is the faux outrage by Fox's Shepherd.

Ralph knows how to get attention, though, and unapologetically.

We will need to make sure that Dems get off the corporate gravy train as well as Repubs, but I doubt using slurs will help.

I watched the video.

What I saw was the corporate media, in the tank for the evil duopoly, the republicrats and democans, being disrespectful to Nader telling him he was a spoiler. Nihil novum sub sol.

"What's funny is the faux outrage by Fox's Shepherd."

I agree. I wish they would spare us the fake outrage.

The headline is wrong, he did not call him "Uncle Tom", he said, "Maybe he will be an Uncle Tom". There's a huge difference.

I wish GM would re-introduce the Corvair, and give this prick something to really bitch about.

Bitch about? I'd buy him one.

Same could be said about a number of small cars. Thanks for the Education on it.

Larry

So?

...he asked....

Nader, albeit inelegantly, poses a fair question.

.......the question is fair, but the contextualization is grossly tasteless, considering the massive historical significance of the moment.....

.......three hundred years from now, school children will be reading about this day, this president-elect........

.......the name Ralph Nader will not even survive as a trivia question by then.......

(Internet search shows that) Ralph Nader was never married and has no known children.

Who?

Ralph Nader?

Is that guy still alive?

Yes, Spud realises his political career died a long time ago but Spud is talking about the man hisself.

He is?

And he sed WOT?!

** head-desk **

Nader's tongue is apparently unsafe at any speed.

Wot did he refer to Obama's transition team as?

Uncle Tom's Cabinet?

Time to get in the box and nail yerself in, Ralphie boy.

Game over, thanx fer playing.

And No, no parting gifts fer yas from Don Pardo.

Not even a sibgle ginsu knife.

Baaaaaaaad Ralph!

Be Well.

Watch the clip, he didn't call him an uncle tom. It was a fair question.

I would call that more racy than racist..

My favorite part is when the faux news tool is pretending that what he said matters to him and he asks him if he regrets "saying" it. That was a bullshit question designed to put words in the guy's mouth. It wasn't a statement, he asked a question. Nader fires back with "Not one bit."

"faux news" ???? Oh you mean Fox NEws, the most watched cable news channel in America

... he did not call him "Uncle Tom", he said, "Maybe he will be an Uncle Tom". There's a huge difference.

True. But it's still pretty offensive to suggest he might be an "Uncle Tom." Just using the words is ridiculous. Ralph Nader's destroying his legacy.

Just like Clinton, true colors finally coming out.

Nader wrote a book called "Usafe At Any Speed" after his wife and child were killed in a Corvair

Nader has never been married.

I don't always agree with Nader but his remark perfectly describes his postion and I think the comment, while hard hitting is perfectly appropriate although I don't agree with the statement. Nader shouldn't back down to the politically correct Nazi storm troopers.

"the politically correct Nazi storm troopers."

Godwin was right.

Obama played to win, abandoning principals in the process. Worse, he embraced many of BushCo's inane policies.

Nader stood on principal and lost, again.

Egypt had its Pharaohs, Europe its Kings, we must all bow to their modern equivalent, the CEO and celebrity.

True. But it's still pretty offensive to suggest he might be an "Uncle Tom." Just using the words is ridiculous. Ralph Nader's destroying his legacy.

Sure it is. But only when refering to The One. Not Powell or Rice.

Right ON!!

FACT!

Obama is an uncle Tom, sell out corporate whore.
Fuck Obama...

Obama is a foundation operative and agent of Wall Street finance capital, controlled by Zbigniew Brzezinski, George Soros, and Goldman Sachs. Obama's mother was an official of the Ford Foundation, the World Bank, and US AID. By all indications, Obama was identified for future political use by Brzezinski at Columbia in 1981-1983, during Obama's secret lost years. Obama has worked for the Gamaliel Foundation, the Joyce Foundation, the Woods Fund, and the Annenberg Foundation. A community organizer is a poverty pimp, a cynical opportunist who uses suffering people as a political commodity. The foundation strategy is divide and conquer, pitting blacks and against whites against Hispanics against Asians to prevent any challenge to Wall Street. Racist provocateurs like Wright and Pfleger, along with Weatherman terrorist bombers Ayers and Dohrn Obama's best friends are cast in this mold. Rezko, Auchi, and Al-Sammarae represent the cesspool of Chicago graft and corruption in which Obama cavorts. Schooled in Nietzsche and Fanon, Obama qualifies as a postmodern fascist. An Obama administration would strive for brutal economic sacrifice and austerity to finance Wall Street bailouts, and for imperialist confrontation with Russia and China.

HAHA...how does it feel to be a loser Jeff? Your opinions mean nothing, your voice means nothing.

Plus...you are a moron. Obama is a democrat...thus far from being a fascist. If anything, Bush acted very similar to a fascist leader by giving and giving to the rich and ignoring the poor.

You are just trying to advocate hate and anger...much like neo-nazis and the KKK.

That is the difference between real patriots and hate-mongers. Real patriots will show unity in the face of hard times, hate-mongers will hate.

YOu mean AK the way all of you liberals did while Bush was in. Well now your Chimp, who looks a whole lot more like one than bush is never going to be let up on. We will see folks can take it.

"how you"

Jeff, why would he want to confront imperialist Russia and China?

Poor JeffinDeludedLand. Spooks under the bed. Shadows in the closet. What a racist, fear-mongering sack of crap you are Jeffy.

America was a country founded by rich white men who didn't want to pay taxes and the wealthy should always get more priviledges under the rule of law

"But it's still pretty offensive to suggest he might be an "Uncle Tom." Just using the words is ridiculous. Ralph Nader's destroying his legacy."

Hilarious that black conservatives get called Uncle Toms all the time, but to even "suggest" Obama "might" be one is so offensive that it destroys one's character and legacy.

How do I become an Uncle Tom. It sounds cool

I hereby sentence you to 4 years of sensitivity training for even mentioning the words, which I will not repeat, in a discussion about Obama.

Same could be said about a number of small cars.

Larry

You say that as if you had a chance in hell of being able to squeeze yourself into one.

Bush was an Uncle Tom for corpaorate interests the last 8 years---Nader didn't call him that though.

Naders remarks were simply racist. It is a shame that a man with his intelligence still has that problem hanging on to his soul.

Nader's career is fading to Black.

That was NOT the best way to make an important point.

But at this stage, Ralph knows that all his points all get disregarded entirely by dem's, repub's and the msm until he does something crazy.

Think about that. Even his good points are disregarded.

Bush was an Uncle Tom for corpaorate interests the last 8 years---Nader didn't call him that though.

Actually I'm pretty sure he called bush a giant corporation disguised as a human being running for president or something like that, faux news just didn't take the time to act shocked.

I'm sure you, the arbiter of racial sensitivity, was right there defending Thomas everytime he was called an Uncle Tom.

He shouldn't have said that.

For the next 4 years I will refer to the White House as Uncle Tom's Cabin while I listen to Poison

Try 8. Douche.

I'm sure you, the arbiter of racial sensitivity, was right there defending Thomas everytime he was called an Uncle Tom.

Thomas is an Uncle Tom. Just because it is a racist remark, doesn't mean it isn't true. Thomas has sucked up to the man his entire life---the epitome of an Uncle Tom.

Obama has not compromised his integrity. Obama stands on his own two feet.

BBob,

If am intepretting you correctly, it is impossible for a black person to be a conservative and NOT be an Uncle Tom.

Is that correct?

JeffJ

When have you ever been correct? A black person is an Uncle Tom when they bow and scrape to a white person---like Thomas does to Alito and Roberts.

Conservative and liberal has nothing to do with it. Colin Powell is not an Uncle Tom.

BBob,

Conservative and liberal has nothing to do with it. Colin Powell is not an Uncle Tom.

While I disagree with you about Thomas, the comment I reproduced is fair enough.

"Thomas is an Uncle Tom."

Yeah, he didn't call him an uncle tom, I doubt if he called him a spic either. That piss you off? If there's a term used to describe a corporate ball sucker or a white person who bows to other white people . . . I guess, you can rest assured that Nader has used it to describe shrub at some point.

Oh FFS is this what we have to look forward to?
4+ years of You siad sumthink that could be construed as RACIST!!!11!!!!!!!111!!!!!

OMFG if that is the case can I change my vote? (not that it would matter as I live in Texas)
