Go Al!

Seriously, Go! That right there is a Democrat who isn't a sellout or liar in any way, shape, or form. Plus he REALLY pisses off Hannity, lol.

and still, no one cares.

Clearly you, me, and Rogers do.

I generally vote Republican, but in most cases I can understand someone voting for a dem.. many of them are principled decent people, who just have a different worldview than me..

But, Franken is not decent, principled, cultured, smart, or even funny.

He's a bitter unhappy useless person, that will bring nothing to the senate but name calling, pettiness, and meanness.

The people of MN must either be doing this as a sick joke, or else must be the most idiotic people on the earth.

Wonder which..

Seriously? Have you ever actually heard or read anything Franken has ever done? Can you point to a single time he lied? Al has made a career out of demanding decency from the right. I hardly think it's "indecent" to do that.

As for cultured, that's flatout incorrect. The word is defined primarily as "Educated, polished, and refined; cultivated." He's very well educated, his speech and manners are VERY polished (not a sungle uhm or uhhh to be heard). As for smart... well... like I said.. not a single gaffe when off the teleprompter, unlike some other people.

And funny? Pffft. That's a matter of opinion alone, the way you put it.

However, if you want that to be taken as some kind of "fact", you lose ther. Given the sales of his humor materials, I'd have to say that the US at large disagrees with your assertion.

Just admit it. You hate Franken because he skewers the right, and you don't agree with his politics.

Sounds like somebody is a poor loser.

I want Franken to win just so that a few more rightwing heads can explode.

Norm Coleman's usefulness as a neocon tool has come to an end. And hopefully his career.

But should he squeak by with a win, at least he won't be following Der Fuehrer's orders.

Apparently Franken is down 41 to 42%

I hear Sean Hannity is "in seclusion"

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

GO AL

I'm not from there-and I want Al Franken to win.
I want to watch when O'liely is FORCED to call him SENATOR Franken-and his head explodes in the biggest non-nuclear explosion since the Mont-Blanc blew up in Halifax Harbor.

Down to 70 something votes out of 2.66 million.

Wow. Doesn't get closer than that. No doubt a recount will take place.

Go Al Go !!

Talk about another squeaker - Missouri Presidential - 398 votes out of nearly 3,000,000.

McCain

1,426,779 49%

Obama

1,426,381 49%

99% of precincts reporting

But should he squeak by with a win, at least he won't be following Der Fuehrer's orders.

true...maybe his original Democrat roots will shine again.

I'm sure he's been taking notes from Libermann

Coleman ahead by 676 at 5:40am November 5th.

Who wants to lay odds that if Franken loses he'll demand a recount and will initiate a lawsuit?

he's not going to lose...Coleman is the sore loser according to one of my best friend in the Twin Cities...

"Coleman has sued every opponent since 1998. What a loser."

In a race this close there will be a recount no matter who comes out on top.

With 98 percent of the returns in, Franken and Coleman were in a virtual tie around 3 a.m. A winning margin of less than one half of 1 percent -- now almost certain -- would trigger an automatic recount and could delay a result for days while ballots are retabulated across the state.

By law, the losing candidate can waive a recount, but that seems highly unlikely in this race.

If Al Franken wins it will be another victory for the socialists who are jealous of anyone else's success.

If Al Franken wins it will be a victory for Americans who have been victimized by Bushs unfair redistribution of wealth to the richest 1% through unfair taxation.

I've been looking at the data and it appears that Franken is the winner, but only by a tiny margin. The GOP election-fraud machine manufactured enough votes to push Coleman over the top. It's understandable, given that this was a relatively high-profile Senate race. Expect a few recounts in the coming days. Franken also needs to dispatch some aides to investigate some questionable votes that were cast.

Its a RECOUNT

not a RUNOFF

big difference

there will be no RUNOFF vote..

Al Franken is just another bitter, whiny democrat who has apparently convinced millions of Minnesotans that criticizing Republicans is a valid substitute for ideas. Voters deserve what they get - I'm glad I don't live in Minnesota.

minnesotan are probably glad you don't live there too, joe. you and fwtom's bitterness is going to eat a hole in your stomachs. grow up.

"Voters deserve what they get - I'm glad I don't live in Minnesota."

Al Franken would be a great counterpart to their OTHER senator, wouldn't he? It's all that snow and ice up there, Joe. They don't know what's going on anywhere else. Those poor folks only get about four days of Summer. That's what makes 'em so mean and nasty too.

Interesting how earning your money is now "redistribution of wealth", and paying a much higher tax rate than every one else in the US is now "unfair" on the OTHER people.

Never mind... it was BBob posting. The statement can be dismissed then.

"Seriously? Have you ever actually heard or read anything Franken has ever done? Can you point to a single time he lied? "

Soheifox,

I can do you one better: I can point you to an entire website that specifically chronicles the "errors, falsehoods, and misleading passages from Al Franken". Franken's status as a blatant and habitual liar are well known.

So, how can you say he's not the best man for the job in Congress?

WTF is up with the term "runoff" in a headline? That made me momentarily excited, until I realized that somebody can't tell the difference between a runoff and a recount. Stop arguing about who's the bigger liar and let's focus on locally misleading items for a little bit...

I looked at the very first "debunk" and looked it up. I found out that the plans against the Pope were discovered through a combination of US intelligence ordered at Yousef that was shared with the Philippines government, and the douchebag himself screwing up making the bomb. Two years later he was then caught.. again with help from our investigators, and given over to us. Also found out Yousef used an Iraqi passport a lot of the time.

It turns out Clinton DID actually directly order our intelligence community to keep on him and bring him to us (though not without advice from said community; they still needed the goahead.).

So yeah.. when the absolute first "lie Franken told" turned out to not be a lie at all, I can't be bothered to look through the rest of the site. I might as well follow one of bOoB's links "proving" there's smokestacks on the moon. It'd be just as useful and factual.

This is not a "runoff" it will be an automatic recount. The gap is less than .05%.

The recount won't be done until December and the Secy of State announced Coleman the winner.

As long as there isn't a suddenly missing box of ballots found--Coleman won.

Bachmann won her MN race for the House as well.

I guess OR is still counting their absentee ballots for the senate race??

Just more proof that my fellow Minnesotans are some of the dumbest people on the planet. This guy and Coleman both ran such a disgusting campaign that my voting for either one of them would have required an immediate bath in boiling gasoline. But 85% of the morons in this state figured these guys were A OK. What a bunch of rubes.

"Franken's status as a blatant and habitual liar are well known."

No, Franken's books on Big. Fat, Blatent and Habitual Liars like Rush Limbaugh and Bill O'Reilly are well known, well read, and well researched.

The "Franken = Liar" sites were all put up as a reaction to his truths about those other liars.

Franken would make a much better representative than Coleman based purely on the fact that he was a big supporter of Paul Wellstone's campaigns who believe's in Paul's ideals and his ideas and who promises to carry on in that vein.

"Politics isn't about big money or power games; it's about the improvement of people's lives"

"A politics that is not sensitive to the concerns and circumstances of people's lives, a politics that does not speak to and include people, is an intellectually arrogant politics that deserves to fail."

"The people of this country, not special interest big money, should be the source of all political power."

~Paul Wellstone

THAT'S the kinda Pol that America so desperately needs today.

** deep sigh **

Spud is miss that guy.

Go Franken!

Be Well.

/Someone want to explain to Spud whether the spoiler Barkley is gonna be on the potential run off ballot?

"Bachmann won her MN race for the House as well."

Oh good, she can get going on that investigation of all the unAmerican Democrats in Congress.

Al Franken actually ran? When I heard he was running, I naturally thought it was a SNL comedy bit, like Stephen Colbert's bid for the presidency...

His close finish proves to me that modern American politics is nothing more that a team sport with evenly divided fans.

Your post proves to me that you don't know much about Franken.

Merkley has been gaining all day in OR.

He is now behind by less than 1000 votes with 73% reporting.

He was down 9000 votes about 2 hours ago.

It's true, I don't know much about Al Franken at all. My comment was to illustrate the "Hatfield's" vs the "McCoy's" approach to modern American politics. I enjoy reading these blogs because of the rabid hate that spews forth from both the "Hatfield's" and the "McCoy's". Seldom does anyone here ever attempt meaningful dialog. It's very entertaining as well as disappointing.

And I think the remaining votes are from Multnomah County (Portland). If the current trend continues, it will be bye bye Gordie.

Libert - I agree with your larger point, but think you may have been painting with a broad brush when you smeared Franken. He's not a Hulk Hogan or whoever that rassler was who got elected Gov.

I'll concede your point. However, I really did think it was a SNL bit when I heard it.

That's understandable.

Well i live a full 1000 miles straight north of minn/st Paul...the summers here are awesome..temps in the 40 degree celsius range (thats 40 degrees Celsius = 104 degree Fahrenheit for you 'mercans ).And how can you associate that with being mean and nasty...everyone knows all Canadians are polite.

Although at the moment..it is 5 degrees below zero celsius..thats the point where water gets hard .

I want to watch when O'liely is FORCED to call him SENATOR Franken-and his head explodes..

I happen to have a clip of that;

O'reily (to guest) 'you little sniveling little dog puke, what do you mean, can't you answer a simple question'.....oh, excuse me (someone hands oliely a note)

'HOLY SHIT, AL FRANKEN' (steam hissing out his ears) 'HAS' (Kabooom)

quest; 'finally i get to say something'.

been in the upper 60's & 70's all week in Minneapolis...

Must be the bubble effect.

Recount is a legal neccessity in this state.

especially when Franken was ahead all late nite from the northern Minnesota votes where he campaigned heavily for & suddenly after going up over a 1300 votes with 5 precincts to go ~ 3 recorded precincts later he's down ~ over 700 with 2 left to record according to CBS online recordings statistic ~ which I posted earlier here!

And ABC KSTP channel 5 TV then continues it pro-Coleman slant by stating repeatedly his 42% to Al's 41%... That was pretty funi!

I know Minnesota's governor's race 2 years ago had electronic screens to work with to win barely ~ which I've never accepted but at least the Republican Gov cleaned up his act abit the last few years.

Perhaps Coleman can do the same...

Go Franken...make Coleman a better man in the process ~ if possible!

The Minnesota Jewish seat will remain, regardless:>)

little known fact:

In order to keep up his motivation for the campaign,
Al would have a daily affirmation with his mirror

He reminded himself that he is good enough, smart enough, and people like him!

His winning score proves that truly
Rush is a big fat idiot

Coleman's a dickwad. Wellstone was a great guy who Franken admired. Go Al!

And yer basing yer stupidity of wot, precisely?

The fact that the Rethugs based their entire campaign strategy on smearing their opponents with lies and the Dems just kept offering up good idea after good idea?

You really are a Regent grad aint cha?

Wot was yer grade in Intelligent Design?

Spud, don't worry about Bidenishiding. His head is still exploding after yesterdays election results. Pity him. LOL.

Who is one of Barkley's best friends.

Jesse is also a former Navy Seal which is why he knew from the start that 911 was an inside job. He has publicly expressed this point of view many times ~ especially of late & wishes that he had been more bold about that point of view while Governor.

Meanwhile ~ yahoo has this latest info on the mandantory recount ~ while Coleman gloats in it that Al shouldn't cost the state 3 cents a vote to challenge his so-called victory...

What a chump!
