Congratulations to Barack Obama! And to all my liberal opponents and insulters, I acknowledge your happiness tonight and for years to come.

It appears that when war is needed, Republicans lead, and when peace is needed, Democrats lead. On earth, War and Peace are realities.

One thing: I trust neither Obama nor McCain as far as turning the nation around is concerned. Inspite of Obama, the nation will turn around and the economy will recover. It is because God is in control and will continue to guide this great nation.

Puhleeze... the Bushhole presidency was one of the most vindictive in history. Everything he did was a gudge match. "Rove Bushhole's Brain" did his best to raise mudslinging to an art form as republicans cheered and did the happy dance. McLame picked up where Rove left off despite the fact that even Bushhole had figured out Rove's act was stale in 06.

Obama was my second choice but Obama ran a pretty clean campaign... albeit expensive... and worth every nickel.

Let me give you a line from one of the most hate filled right wingers on radio Rush Limbaugh. "Do you know how many people have to be wrong for you to be right?" The entire world is apparantly glad to be finally getting rid of not only Bush but the whole conservative ideology that favored the wealthy at the expense of those who do the work. I will never forget recently when they were discussing how to solve the latest economic mess and those that were running these financial institutions said they might not play ball if their compensation and bonuses were not forthcoming. Then I watched the presidential spokesman Dana Perino when asked about adding an extension to the unemployement benefits for the thousands that were about to run out of benefits. She said that Bush would veto that part in part because the feeling was that they wanted the unemployed to find work. To the conservatives mindset the middle class is there for them to sponge off. We are their slaves for lack of a better term and are expendable at any time if they can make and keep more money for themselves. So when you say the liberal or progressives are bitter they have a damn good reason.

I love the title of this thread! And apparently there is a huge majority of Americans who are fired up and ready to go as well.

This country needs to heal. You can call it whatever you wish, but the past 8 years have been horrific for this country and it is time to change, to improve and to move on.

I thought McCain was a class act last night, and Obama showed strength and determination. I believe with my heart that Obama will be the man to pull this country together. McCain will obviously help accomplish that goal.

Congratulations to both men, not for the election but for keeping America and her healing as the focus of last night.

We woke up to a brave new world this morning. To quote another great statesman "We can move forward into great sunlit uplands". What you witnessed last night was a bloodless revolution and unlike the generation of the 60s that talked about making change happen, this younger generation (with the help of more than a few of us old folks) did it! The US standing the world increased 10 fold overnight and we can look forward to better times with a thoughtful intelligent man leading and representing this country.

If you are directing the comments to Mexicans in particular... the vast majority of them descended from the indigenous peoples of the Americas who walked up and down the corridors of this land for 30,000 years. Your remarks seem a little presumptuous... especially since they are trying to escape a Christian based capitalistic democracy to a secular based nation with a mixed economy.

Obama will make mistakes -- he's only human -- but let's all give him a chance. Obama has a lot of repairing to do to fix the mess Bush will have left behind. Hopefully we can try to come together again as Americans rather than the divided country as we were before. I hope Obama will rule from the center. If he goes too far to the left we'll all end up at each other's throats again.

I look at pictures from around the world showing the reactions of people in different countries upon hearing the news. It is a loooooooooooooooooooooong way from the reaction Bush-hole got when he was spoon feeding his own nation lies to justify settling a grudge against Saddam Hussien. Then the pictures were of people rioting in the streets objecting to the American democratic political system. Bush-hole in response said... "fuck em... we will go it alone..." and proceeded to go to war with only half a country behind him and few world allies. Worse yet he inspired his own party to turn against fellow Americans for not walking lock step against this incredibly stupid act.

What he gave them in return was $900 in tax rebates over the course of 8 years and a broken economy in the hole a trillion dollars... paid for via tax dollars. Now all of a sudden the party that once "had no ideas" looks real smart.

The Democratic Party rallying behind Obama has done more for the viability of Democracy in other nations than all the billions of dollars wasted on bombs not to mention the aborted lives and maimed human beings left in the wake of Bush-holes nation building exercise.
